781  Economy / Speculation / Re: The pessimists - post crash stable price guesses? on: April 03, 2013, 05:01:29 PM
Tentative floor of somewhere between $13 and $5, based on two factors:

  • The first crash's final "New Paradigm" -> "Despair" gap was something like 17x; looking at current prices, any peak < $220, if it falls a similar distance, will end up between the two numbers.
  • $5 was the last place we saw long-term stability, and will represent a major psychological rock for people vis a vis BTC's "true value". $13 was semi-stable, but for a shorter time and with greater variation.
This is all spitball, of course. If I really knew where BTC would end up - or when the crash will occur - or even that there will be a crash at all - I'd be trading on my belief instead of yapping about it on a forum.

Lol I have been wondering where all the bears have been hiding the past couple days Smiley

No where to go but up from here my friend! Bad juju keeping your coins online.

That's what everyone was saying right before the giant housing crash in the US
There is no way any comparison can be made to the US housing bubble crash and Bitcoin right now. Is anyone selling off Bitcoin backed derivatives? No.  (If they where they might make a killing...haha)

A comparison to the rapid adoption of Facebook would be a better indicator but still far from the actual picture.

30 minutes since 6 confirmations and still not showing up at gox
30? waiting 150 minutes since 7 confirmations.. got 21 confirmations now

Why would anyone want to be SENDING btc to Gox?!?

Just a precaution for now.  Right now I'm just making sure I have the ability to trade if need be.

784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Money sent to wrong mtgox account!! on: April 03, 2013, 04:49:18 PM
I was told by my gox today that the other account has exchanged my funds for bitcoins and the only thing I can do now is file a police report. What a joke. Bitinstant assured me that my funds had been frozen in the other person's account.
That sucks.
785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase calling me High Risk! Why even Verify then??? on: April 03, 2013, 04:46:52 PM
Send a Tweet @coinbase for a faster response. They will come through. Shit they even refunded me an overdraft fee when my transaction cleared a week later than they said it would and I had pulled the funds back to my main account because I thought the transaction was canceled.
786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase calling me High Risk! Why even Verify then??? on: April 03, 2013, 04:44:32 PM
This happened to me the third time I bought BTC through them. Just message them and they will push the transaction through. They did this to me back when the price at $28 Wink lol

This is my favorite chart, very interactive. But only goes back 6 months.

789  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:37:26 PM
goxlag almost gone, 22s just then
I came to write the same thing. The fiasco seems to be over. Price hardly moved. But while we had like 20 coins to get past 142 before, we now have 5000! LOL
Walls where meant to be torn down, just ask Ronald Reagan.
790  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:36:16 PM
Looks like we may not dip nearly as low as I had thought.  People, you best be panic buying again.

Buy buy buy! BTCChina still at $160 Grin
Agreed!!!
791  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:35:48 PM
Gox Lag 2 s.... price at $135... wow!
792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:33:14 PM
What makes me mad is last night before I went to bed I had a sell order in at $145 when the price was $120. I cancelled it when I saw BTC China was up to $170. Woke up and saw it had just hit $147.  lol

I don't know how by LITERALLY 70% of my bids and asks will always be 0.2% higher or lower than the peak or dip price.
So far following BTC China's price by 12-24 hr has been the best indicator I have found anywhere for placing orders.

It's true, I found myself checking btc china often myself too perhaps it's the big winner out of all of this.
I added the BTC China Ticker chrome extension to my browser so I always have a live price indicator in the upper right hand corner.

I call it my "BTC Early Warning Price Indicator".. haha

793  Economy / Speculation / Re: The pessimists - post crash stable price guesses? on: April 03, 2013, 04:29:25 PM
Initial crash down to around $8.50 or so - rebound to around $20-25USD for awhile and then slow climb back up.  BTC is extremely overvalued right now, but there's no saying it can't goto $500+ before this bubble pops.  I do believe in the long term future of btc but we've gotten WAY out in front of reality.

Full disclosure - I've been horribly wrong on price for sometime - I still think the crash is coming, HAS to come, but my level of certainity has dropped from nearly 100% to about 90% in this recent runup.  If I finally become short term bullish it's time to sell for sure ;-)

There is no reason whatsoever to think the price will crash so low.

Markets overshoot, like how we crashed from 31.9$ to just under 2$, to reach stability at 5$

The June 2011 bubble started at $.50, and then crashed down to $2 and was eventually stable at $5

If this bubble follows the same pattern, it started at $20 and will crash down to $80 and stabilize at $200.

There is no reason to think the value will crash below the pre-bubble level.
There is no way the value will crash below pre-bubble level.
794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:13:33 PM
Unless I missed something, it looks like the big buy walls at $90 have vanished.  Preparing for a buy or placing the wall closer to 130??
It looks bigger now on my bitcoinity chart?
795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 04:11:19 PM
I simply find it difficult to believe that the Mt Gox system doesn't scale well enough to handle a high volume influx of trades;

You either don't work in IT or haven't worked there long enough.

I don't work in IT. School me.....
Its been posted time and time again that the way they do their database queries is ssssllllllooooowwww. Shit even installing some SSD's with all their new found profits would fix the problem for awhile.
796  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just woke up and BTC is OVER $134!!?? on: April 03, 2013, 04:09:28 PM
...

This is ridiculous.
theymos, my friend: two words, media coverage.
Bitcoin's in the news.
Cyprus' in the news.
People put two and two together: Hm. Their money's just been stolen. Hm. With Bitcoin, that can't happen. *must buy bitcoin*
My dad finally caved and during easter dinner came over and handed me $1500 in cash and said "Here, I don't trust the banks anymore, buy me some BTC." I said ok, then started a Dwolla -> Gox transfer that wont clear until tomorrow. He has probably called me 5 times in the last two days. He just called complaining about how much he has lost by waiting for the transfer to occur. I said dad "This is only the beginning." lol

Just tell him how much he has lost since he hesitated in the first place Smiley
I know right, I tried to convince him to put a grand in back at $20. I think for him it was that he "Heard about Bitcoin on Glenn Beck on Friday."..... so that somehow makes Bitcoin legit now? Lol Damn backwoods conservatives anyway Wink haha

Bahahaha! And what about the 10,000 new accounts still waiting to move cash in and buy some BTC? BTC could be at $5,000 by the end of the year.

You havent been around long, have you?
Remember, don't bet with money you dont have.

Long enough to see the writing on the wall... barring a government ban, natural disaster such as a giant meteor hitting the earth or some other massive calamity BTC has no where to go but up very rapidly.

So, MT fucking Gox was down for a few hours, and you'd think that panic might set in at least temporarily, you know, the usual flash dip...
so far it's showing resistance at 135...
I think we'll see 160 today at some point!
Fasten your seat belts!
I agree... and most people who signed up with Gox in the past two weeks haven't even bought in yet. $500 here we come withing two weeks!
