781  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [WORK IN PROGRESS] Fan cooled case for ASIC BLOCK ERUPTER BLADE on: September 06, 2013, 09:36:16 PM
New blades don't need cases. They just need a box fan and its gg.

a rack to put them in to keep things neat is still nice to have.

How is luck at 126% during a 9 hour round?  That's craziness.

I believe that luck is calculated when a block is found. this run should lower the luck.
783  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: September 06, 2013, 07:33:59 PM
My D-Links are still running strong after 1 month of 24/7 hashing in an ambient temperature of 26C-29C.

I've got some d-links on order. just waiting for stuff to get here.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On tanted coins (removed from coinjoin thread) on: September 06, 2013, 07:29:30 PM
I don't get the concept of tainted Bitcoin. If you have a tainted coin and spend half of it are both halves tainted? If you combine half a tainted coin with a nontainted coin is the result tainted? if so then eventually every bitcoin except those that are never spent will become tainted. I don't get it. Huh
785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: September 06, 2013, 07:05:55 PM
man, i can't catch a break with Hubs. today i had an Anker die which takes 9 USBs off line. It has no power. If i push the button on the end (10 port aluminium) the LEDs on the erupters blinks for a second and then nothing. Somebody needs to design a heavy duty hub. Cry
786  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [WORK IN PROGRESS] Fan cooled case for ASIC BLOCK ERUPTER BLADE on: September 06, 2013, 07:00:49 PM
is this for the new blades only or would it work with the old blades?
787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 06, 2013, 05:29:15 PM
Your cooler seems excessive, the general notion over at the Eu-thread is that the chips like to run hot, Even bitfury himself has stated this. Just for reference Im running mine without fans in 25-33c ambient.

They may like to run hot, but what impact does doing that have on their longevity?
788  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: September 06, 2013, 10:07:21 AM
Does anyone know where I can download the precompiled Windows Stratum proxy at?  The link from Slush's pool has been broken for a few days....-

A cool dude passed this to me earlier:  http://btc.anapaapps.com/mining_proxy.php

This link does an automatic download.

There is no point turning cgminer into an ancient getwork mining proxy.
It's a miner, not a mining proxy for some other getwork miner.
The blades have their own (crappy) getwork miner in them.

I think that people are just saying that they know you guys would do it right and would prefer one stop shopping. Right now Slush's Proxy Server is is it and Slush has been markedly missing from his pool and, to my knowledge, hasn't been providing any kind of visible support. Maybe if you guys redid Slush's software people would be happy because they know they can depend on you guys. The blades are going to be an issue for a while yet.

I'll give ya US$50.00 for it. Shocked

But we do get a number of "luck hoppers" and this has been noticed and commented on in the past.

It seems to go like this:

  • The pool gets lucky
  • People notice, switch over, and the hash rate goes way up
  • For some odd reason, the luck goes down with the increased hashrate
  • The luck hoppers leave and the hash rate starts to return to "normal"
  • The pool starts getting lucky again....

yeah, i wonder why it works this way. I'll bet the math wizards would tell us it can't happen like this and it is just co-incidence. Personally, i think there is an obscure something in the way the system works causing this. like maybe, the hashrate being used to calculate luck is lagging slightly behind the actual hashrate making the luck look greater than it is.
792  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: September 05, 2013, 07:03:53 PM
Seems like we are having a luck hopper problem.

3 hours here, 2 minutes there, 4 hours, 1 minute.  Wacky!  But that is randomness for you!

its called statistics. the diff with our hashing power dictates we will find x blocks a day. Luck will causes variants above and below that mark but in the end it will average out close to what it should be.

it would be cool if the masses would accept that as fact instead of complaining about long blocks and being silent on 1 minute blocks.

Well I am not the masses and I am mining 24/7, because I see that @ 102 - 103% mining luck the pool is paying out quite well for me. But pool luck (unequal to my mining luck) does not consider the actual hash rate in the pool. Now subjective indication ís that at ususal pool luck I observe an average pool hash rates which comes to 44 - 49 Thashes. If the pool performs well we get 51 Thashes/s, which is more than what would have been to be expected and is extremely unlikely.

So what I am curious to look for is whether if pool luck is high the pool attrackts more people than would come by pool hopping. This would somehow influence the income in an inconvient way. Additional questions would be where these People come from. No Problem with idle GPU's, but what if a shift from the guild or ABCpool is very co-operative?

Maybe the question has been discussed/clarified already. Then I apologize for bothering a hint would be nice.

A lot of new hardware is being delivered currently. some of the pool hashrate rise might be permanent.

I see all about ssh'ing here. Is it safe to assume that i can plug a USB hub into the rPi and use a keyboard & mouse with a monitor plugged into the rPi?

Yes, you can use usb hub and use it.

good, i prefer to log into the computer i'm working on. It keeps me from getting confused.
794  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: September 05, 2013, 06:59:29 PM

depends on whether you live in North America or Europe. there are threads for both in the custom hardware section.

how come package tracking isn't working for my latest order. Says "Information for this number isn't available at this location." doing something differently?

It probably hasn't been scanned in yet.  It sometimes takes a day or so before it shows up in the tracking system.  If your order was packed after ~3 PM yesterday, it wouldn't have been scanned in yet.  Yesterday's pickup was a bit early, and today's pickup hasn't shown up yet.

ok, cool, just curious.

I suspect that we are stressing these more than the average user. I'll bet the designers never anticipated these running 24/7 drawing full current.

today i got 11 new erupters, and i'm waiting on hubs.  Tongue Bleh.
