7801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do I need to become a Bitcoin Advisor? on: July 23, 2015, 07:27:19 PM
I had an idea (which I'm sure lots of people had) involving selling Bitcoin on Localbitcoin.com but doing so as an advisor, essentially either selling bitcoin slightly higher than market value (to cover costs/make small profit) or charging a percentage as a fee. You could possibly meet in person, at the persons address or safe public place, try to verify each others ID using social media/gov issued ID (use as many means as possible, it's for both the buyers and sellers protection) then as an advisor you would be able to set up a wallet, transfer the first bitcoin to them, and have them transfer back to you the agreed payment. That way they have seen the process from start to finish, bitcoin in, bitcoin out, you can both see the transaction, confirmations etc....you have then sold bitcoin for a profit and started a new bitcoin user on the road to crypto consciousness! Any thoughts on why this is a bad idea much appreciated....Or even if it's legal/moral/safe etc.....

Look into exchanges that do not have the paperwork before jumping into localbitcoins and doing lots of trades.

The trading BTC to clients and talking to them are two different buisness's.  The hard part would to be to get investors who will listen to you.  Unless your at a established financial management business you have to ask how many people are going to find you off the internet and seek your investment advice... anwser is very little sadly.
7802  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a national currency? on: July 23, 2015, 07:23:46 PM
Bitcoin being used as a national currency would be a very interesting experiment. I think it would be interesting to see how it would affect everyday life living in a nation that exclusively uses Bitcoin. In my opinion, it would be useful and very cool if it were possible to go to an everyday grocery store and pay for your groceries with Bitcoin, instead of cash.

The people who are in oppose of bitcoins would surely die without food if this is the situation in the coming years where you can buy your stuff by paying bitcoins. And if it becomes mandatory even they have to buy anything using bitcoins.Even if they don't like it.

No they won't lol. When a country in EU had it's own currency and changed to €, people just came into their banks and exchanges and changed their currency for €, everything that wasn't changed for a new currency was worth nothing. The same thing can be done with BTC.

A hybrid of bitcoin and cash is still the ideal.

It would take a country with a pretty weak national currency to use BTC as official currency.  Just is a lot of variation in value, which is hard as far as a government based money.

Bitcoin will need to stabilize on a price before it really could be looked at for a countries currency.
7803  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin really save Greece? on: July 23, 2015, 07:21:07 PM
My opinion is that if Greece would invest before in bitcoin, they will not bankrupt now.
It was a good opportunity for them, since they have now limits on their banks.
They want to keep the EUR currency and being in the EU.

It's a little unrealistic to expect a country that has a Fiat dollar, the euro to invest in digital currency.   Really I don't think governments place is to invest.

I could be wrong on that but seems like a weird economy if your government is truly investing your tax money.
7804  Economy / Economics / Re: Litecoin revolutuionises - Bitcoin doesn't on: July 23, 2015, 07:18:24 PM
Litecoin will remain less then BTC on price.   It always has and always will.

You can even hear talks from litecoin's creator describing how he wanted to be silver to bitcoin's gold.  He is a genius person.  And if you listen to all the effort he put in to have a fair launch it's pretty amazing.
7805  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to connect my antminer s5 with bitminter pool? on: July 23, 2015, 07:15:08 PM
I mine on Bitminter since a year and a half. The pool is great, you just have to learn to live with luck variance.

The Doc is a awsome devoted owner.

1% vs 0% ... that's a greedy call as hell.

I prefer to give 1% to the Doc then helping giant pool who do not give a damm about my miners.

I'm not against the "little guy" in anyway.  I don't like that the pools are becoming fewer and fewer.  And for the record I mined for a LONG time on BTC Guild.

At this point I just really like flat PPS.  I'm willing to give a bit in percentage to get this.  Yes others equal over time, just I like getting paid constant stream.

I understand your choice. Sometime we hit bad luck and it takes up to 5 days to solve one ... but we can also solve 4 in the same day.

But... no bad talking about my pool ok ?? (hahaha just kidding Tongue )

Smiley must be a good pool to have the support it has.   I stuck with BTC Guild for a long time so I can understand loyalty.

If it was not for electricity I might try other pools.  But with a decent electricity bill each month the variability is a little tough if it had a big dry spell.  Granted most do not get that bad.
7806  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help s3+ not working on: July 23, 2015, 07:12:13 PM
Hello, my s3+ not working, led green and red always on after reset.
Why?
Help me please, is really important

Are you able to get to GUI?  What part is not working?
7807  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What is the best router to use to mine bitcoin with Time Warner Cable internet on: July 23, 2015, 07:11:36 PM
Adding another router will not fix it.  You would still be dealing with the all in one modem fromm TWC.

Call them and ask them if they do a "bridge mode" on their all in one say it's not working for you.   I had a all in one with a different ISP it was horrible router, mainly as its firewall and some protections could not be turned off which I needed to do on certain ports.

If they do bridge mode on the all in one it becomes essentially just a modem,  and you can use a router of your choice.
7808  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 23, 2015, 07:07:35 PM
You've gotta admit the S2 being a larger 4u case allows larger/quieter fans and with the backplane the simplest upgradeable design.

True but it also has 10 pcb's of bords compared to 4 with good sized heatsinks.   So I could see pro's and con's on both sides.

I don't think it really matters though..... as I personally dont see a upgrade kit coming at this point.

lol my hash with new firmware is 2,16 gh/s HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh

Maybe try re-flashing the firmware.   That is not a normal speed.

As far as firmware looks like bitmain listened on heat.  Just needed to be patient Smiley
7810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bachelor's thesis on Bitcoins on: July 23, 2015, 07:03:15 PM
Hi everybody!

I am a finance bachelor student.  I am thrilled with the topic of Bitcoin and would like to write my thesis on it. However I have trouble formulating the topic for the thesis. Could you give me a hint? it would be great to have something from the bank perspective, but it is not a must. So far I got not that many ideas, like trying to find interrelations between the bitcoin exchange rate moves and some commodities or indices.

Maybe take a look at the bitcoin WIKI.  It has a lot of good info that might help give an idea or two.

But if your trying to do from a bank perspective might see if you can do a interview with someone from one of the bigger exchanges.   Or some of them have video's online from past conferences.
7811  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best way for earning bitcoins on: July 23, 2015, 07:00:00 PM
bitjam.com, but only chose users that are riskfree.
dice sites, when you invest in the house you will earn from gamblers.
Maybe you want to provide liquidity to nubits. That's a cryptocurrency that is held on a value of 1 US-Dollar artifially. Providing liquidity for BTC Market means getting 13% each month. You can do it in a pool too.

Loaning money is never risk free.  Sadly people use it to scam.   If someone defaults on a loan I think you will be suprised how hard it's going to be to collect that debt.  I would not go down this path.

Also be careful on investing on gambling sites.  You have to ask yourself if the gambling site if profitable.... why would they need anyone else backing them?
7812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ok... What is the easieast way for a total newbie to buy some BTC? on: July 23, 2015, 06:57:38 PM
As the title says.  What if a newbie asks you what is the easiest way to buy BTC, what would you suggest?

depends on where you're from. I prefer bitcoin.de and fidor bank. fastest and easiest way to buy bitcoin for euro in my opinion

Of course depends on where is the newbie who asking live and if he live in Indonesia i sugest him just to buy bitcoin on vip.bitcoin.co.id and i never use localbitcoin to buy or sell bitcoin so i won't sugest from localbitcoin

I would agree with avoiding localbitcoin.  Just going to cost more and put you at more risk then a good exchange.

What country are you in?  The exchange will greatly depend on this.
7813  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING AN ACCOUNT on: July 23, 2015, 06:55:12 PM
I see many sellers says about potential activity and i have seen that it takes some times to count them.
My question would be: Is there any bot or any tool that would automatically check the potential activity of an account.

i would think that bit-x's sig campaign bot could be modified to calculate potential activity as well, its already implemented to take a lot of info from people's posts. as i said above already, one could ask bitcoin boy to add this feature to the bot, or ask for the source to work off of. im not sure if hes willing to give up his code though. im rather surprised there isnt such a tool already seeing how often accounts are traded on this forum.

I'm sure he could add it, but the question why?   You can calculate it yourself pretty easy.   I guess I'm not into the buying and selling of accounts but I think potential activity is not to hard.  See if one in each period... count the periods.

If you really want it you could ask bitcoin boy to make one.   He is very talented.  Not sure what it would cost.
7814  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet, security, my website and game, Advices/Help required on: July 23, 2015, 01:42:35 PM
Iam doing business side, users gonna deposit/withdraw, someone said that i should use paper-wallet. So what kind of options or which wallets would be recommended. I understand that 3rd companies are not this safe, as you have to rely on their security right?

Look into "cold wallets" they are very secure but a little harder to get to and spend.    Putting it on website would be a hot wallet if the server really run a wallet behind the scenes.

Basically last thing you want is for the web server to hold your wallets, and your coins.
7815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can u get bitcoins? for free on: July 23, 2015, 01:22:05 PM
FREE BITCOIN

There's no free bitcoin . You have to earned it with effort even with a small effort.

Claiming @ faucet isn't giving you a free bitcoin because you will type a captcha. It counts as an effort.

The free method is someone will give btc to you. That's a free bitcoin.

I don't really count faucet myself.  I cannot see why people would put in hours of work for pennies... it does not compute.

One could argue signature campaigns are free.  I would do my post's with or without them.  I actually hit hero before I ever did one believe... I didn't do the math just avoided them.  But glad I found them a little BTC for posting is always nice.

Well those faucet users are the one who doesn't have an idea on any method of growing their bitcoins. As soon as they continue to browse in this forum they will eventually see other method and little by little they will minimize their time in fauceting. Like me , I used to play faucets until now but not that active anymore because I found some method to get "free" bitcoins.

I would agree on the not knowing. They do it for X days and think they have a bit of coins then do math and see it's cent's.

Most just did not know they were wasting their time. The ones that still do faucets and realize how little it is I cannot figure out.

Well in my case I treat faucets as side earnings. I have lots of active referrals in faucets that giving me passive income. I used to play only on 2 faucets and Im not claiming every hour.  I don't do fauceting just to have bitcoins . It's insane. I have other methods of growing my bitcoins. Those who are focusing only on faucets need some guide that's why they need to browse more in this forum.

What are you making on those faucets?  I would be surprised if it's even a dollar a week.

To get you to do 2 sites a hour.... is a lot for a few pennies.
7816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to Earn 1 Bitcoin in a Week on: July 23, 2015, 01:20:48 PM
if it was that easy to make 1BTC /week he would never share it with anybody and get rich first from ithimself Cool

OP wanted a thread to be popular and gave it a title to make it so.  And sadly this entire thread is a mess.  Just crap posts and a crap guide.

I wish I could lock this thread and let it die.
7817  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet, security, my website and game, Advices/Help required on: July 23, 2015, 01:19:16 PM
Hello!

I got a website with a game of mine, the thing is that i dont have any idea what i should do to apply bitcoinwallet into the website, whats best (security). What kind of system would you recommend to make it easier to withdraw and deposit from/to site. I want it to work safe and sound, i can code this but i need idea, i know how wallet works iam not that newbie into such things, but i need to resolve this problem.

PS.

I dont know if its right section, mod edit it if its wrong, thanks

DO NOT put a live wallet on a website unless you have to.  It's a way to put a security target on your back.  What is your need are you doing a business or just wanting use on website?

You could put an address up, and have it deposited to a safe cold wallet.
7818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Things You Missed from the State of Bitcoin on: July 23, 2015, 01:02:25 PM
"China-based miners are now the majority"

i don't like this part too much, i'm worried that one day they might work together and attempt to double spend via 51% or other attack, remember that even at 40% some attacks are practicable without six confirmations, or if someone manage to hack the pools and do some malicious things

I worried about this once with Ghash.  But I don't worry anymore we have seen as far as a single pool the community will get together to stop one pool from having 51 percent.

And think about a 51 percent attack they gain one big attack.  But they kill all future business and tank BTC price.  So it's not really good for business even if they can do a 51 percent attack.

So no one is going to do it unless it's a rogue hacker type.
7819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in your country on: July 23, 2015, 01:00:09 PM
Hi!  Smiley
How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?
Face-to-face, no, I don't know any person who use it. I tried to explain how it works the whole thing to a friend, but he didn't wanted to join me Sad
At least I tryed.

What country are you in?  Normally you would find someone.

Might try going to tech places, at tech places rate of those who know go up a lot.
7820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin Crash Gold? on: July 23, 2015, 12:58:34 PM
No there are those who will always hold gold.  Lots depend on it as part of their portfolio.   And it's been used for many many years.

BTC might be added to someones funds, but most won't switch from gold to BTC.
