7901  Other / Meta / Re: Animated Avatar on: August 02, 2021, 11:25:44 AM
I don't mind the boob licker at all because it's barely noticeable, but some of the stuff that users wore or that some campaigns had people wear was just too much. I have never spoken out against ads or signatures because I understand that it's a way for the forum to finance its operations. Plus I am wearing a signature and it just seems weird to me to have them disabled while I am benefiting from one myself.

Flashy avatars are really distracting and they draw your focus away from the stuff you write or read. I don't min that they are gone. If everyone used something as simple as the boob licker there wouldn't be a problem with them.
7902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Exchange BTC addresses on: August 02, 2021, 10:23:19 AM
Though having to pay double the transaction fees will be slightly annoying at least until they add functionality for other types of crypto.
Those demands your Forex broker has are even more annoying and as you experienced yourself, they created a lot of headache. Imagine if you weren't able to withdraw funds to the original address and that you never gained control of its balance, but your broker insisted on using only that one no matter what you say? Luckily, you sorted it out.

LoyceV is right. A 1 input and 1-2 outputs segwit transaction is well it considering the problems that centralized exchanges can create.
7903  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to give btc users no transaction fees. on: August 02, 2021, 07:31:33 AM
That's the point I'm making. I generally don't think of the price of the product in USD.
Maybe you don't, but the merchants certainly do. If their product or service is priced $100, they will want the equivalent in bitcoin at the time you make that purchase. One day, that item might be 0.002 BTC, the other day it can be 0.001 BTC or 0.003 BTC. I have rarely come across a shop selling its gear for a fixed amount in bitcoin. If I noticed that I am paying 50% more or less than I did the last time, I would be curious to find out why. And that's where you have to go back to the fiat value of the item to find out if it just got more expensive/cheaper, or has the value of Bitcoin changed.
7904  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Supported Coins Question on: August 02, 2021, 07:03:50 AM
Power Ledger is an Ethereum-based ERC20 token. When you withdraw it from an exchange, it doesn't require that you pay gas fees in ether. It will just deduct whatever is required in POWR. You need to send it to your ETH address in Ledger Live. That's where all ERC20 tokens go and you should select to withdraw using the Ethereum network. Once they are on your Ledger and you want to move them somewhere else, you are going to need ether to pay the network fees.

There is no Power Ledger app. Like I said, the token goes into your Ethereum account. You only need to have the Ethereum app installed on your Nano S. You don't need any other third party wallets.

BNB is not supported by Ledger at all. At the moment you can't store those coins on a Ledger hardware wallet. Just leave them where they are or look for alternative wallets if you don't want to keep them on an exchange.
7905  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITGAME|🔥🚀Crypto's Hottest Betting Site🔥🚀|🎁100% Bonus On 1st Deposits🎁 on: August 01, 2021, 06:45:20 PM
I took a look at your football offer and the number of leagues and matches to bet on seems very limited. For example, there are only 8 leagues to bet on in the next 24 hours at the moment I am writing this reply. I can't even count that number of leagues available on some of your more popular competitor platforms.

When I click on in-play football markets, it's completely empty. You don't offer live football betting? There are between 80-100 live football matches on other platforms right now. I have also noticed that the 1x2 markets are closed on a number of matches for some reason.
7906  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Check Integrity of Hardware Wallets on: August 01, 2021, 06:00:04 PM
<Snip>
All those security measures wont help if the people producing and packaging the original devices become untrustworthy as we have seen in the Ledger/Shopify fiasco where rogue members of the support leaked or sold customer data and introduced backdoors into company databases. A genuine bag number wont help in that scenario.

Hardware tempering will be harder to recognize in the future. We have already seen examples by dkbit98 from a few weeks ago where an identical looking fake device was created with a modified chip inserted into it. Inspecting the hardware components doesn't do much in that case.
7907  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: August 01, 2021, 05:20:40 PM
They are expecting a huge increase in hardware wallet users and much bigger adoption rate if their goal is to mass-produce 100 million units. If the figures in sources like this one or this are correct, Bitcoin has gone above 100 million users worldwide. I think only a small percentage of those use hardware wallets. Exchanges, mobile wallets, and non-custodial services still occupy a significant part of the market.

Even if had 200 or 500 million crypto users in a few years, producing 100 million devices might be too optimistic of a goal. But I am still glad that they are aiming high and hoping that one day we will reach those numbers.

7910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin an Investment or Payment form? Has it lost its purpose? on: August 01, 2021, 04:48:22 PM
With hour long payment confirmations, I just don't see it as a payment form in everyday life.
A quick confirmation doesn't equal a better or safer transfer of value. Credit cards seem like they confirm your transaction in seconds. But that's not final, only your balance (the credit) gets updated. In the background, the transaction needs from 1 to 3 business days to be processed. Not only that, but they are reversible for up to 6 months.

Bitcoin doesn't take three business days to confirm and it also doesn't have international limitations or restrictions. If you have paid a good enough mining fee, your first confirmation will arrive after 10 minutes on average and you already have full control of your money then. Six confirmations is often used when dealing with big amounts or cryptocurrency exchanges, and those will come within 1 hour in optimal network conditions. They are irreversible, and no one can block your non-custodial wallet or ask you any questions.

Bitcoin is a great hedge against inflation. The money in my bank losses value constantly and the purchasing power decreases year after year. And the bastards keep inventing new ways to take bits for themselves. Their newest scheme is forcing users to invest in their eurobonds, otherwise, they deduct a small percentage from your account each month.
7911  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin casino top news on: August 01, 2021, 04:15:48 PM
My ad blockers prevented me from seeing the link to your site and the picture you posted, so I was wondering what the purpose of the thread was. It's clearer now once I found the site. Sure, people like free faucets, but you aren't going to get rich from them and they only exist for you to try a game for free for a few rounds and then you either deposit and play more or go elsewhere. I am not sure what the rules on crypto casinos say and is it even possible to get enough wins by just playing with the money received from faucets to be allowed to withdraw it. Or is depositing your own money a requirement.

After looking at your list, I think one point worth considering is the reputation those brands have on Bitcointalk. Since you are advertising your site on the forum, it doesn't make sense including casinos that have a history of scamming Bitcointalk members. BitStarz, Crypto Wild, and 1xBit should probably be removed.
7912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Layman's understanding of Lightening Network. on: August 01, 2021, 03:56:04 PM
9. Is there a demo version to try out the LN without using real btc in other to get acquainted with the process.
There are two users and threads you can turn to in order to receive your first coins to play around on the Lightning Network:

The loan duration is one week for both users. There are no rank restrictions, so anyone can apply.
LoyceV gives 1.000 satoshis per loan while jackg gives out 10.000 satoshis.
7913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I feel like there is no way to keep up on: August 01, 2021, 11:22:38 AM
I only started like late last year. I heard of bitcoin years prior but I didn't know it went up over time so I just thought "crypto currency" was internet money. Like, the dollar, it doens't really go up or down that much. (ik it kinda actually does but u get the point)

I feel so agro that I didn't get in way sooner. god...
That's an unhealthy attitude you have there. Beating yourself up for not getting involved earlier and taking huge risks expecting another coin like bitcoin will come along and take its place. Among those thousands of coins, you won't find bitcoin's successor. Just invest little by little and don't gamble too much. And don't put your financial stability in danger by putting money into the market that you need for more important things.
7914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could crypto replace government? on: August 01, 2021, 11:03:16 AM
Those cryptocurrencies cannot scale to the point to support an entire economy. They weren't able to handle the load of CryptoKitties a few years ago, what makes you think they can do more than that?
Most governments don't want a pure democracy. You are given an illusion of democracy, but that designation reaches only as far as the interests of your government. Try to go above that and you will experience the same democracy that many whistleblowers experienced.

All those suggestions made in the OP will never be decided by the people. You can protest against war, but war will still happen. You can complain against the banking elite, but they will keep pulling all of the strings and most people will just nod their heads and go along with it.

If you want privacy, your government is the wrong party to turn to. You have to find ways to keep it yourself because they surely aren't interested in you staying under the radar.

To answer your question, no, such a system wouldn't work.
7915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can one store/swap Bitcoin? on: August 01, 2021, 06:37:38 AM
Any of the multi-currency wallets you will come across are either closed-source or non-custodial or both. I have used some in the past past because they are a convenient app to store your alt or shitcoins in. But bitcoin should be kept in proven wallets. Don's settle for anything less than open-source and non-custodial.

You mentioned Electrum and unless you are willing to invest in a hardware wallet, such as Trezor or Ledger, I think Electrum is the way to go. Just make sure you download it from the official site only (https://electrum.org/#download) and verify the signatures. You can follow this guide on how to perform the verification.

Someone recommended using Changelly via Ledger. You should know that these instant exchanges usually offer worse exchange rates than regular exchanges and you have to undergo KYC verification before you can use their services. Don't worry about being able to convert your BTC to USDT when you feel the right time has come. When you want to do that, you can always move your coins back to Binance, do it P2P, or try out BestChange and see their offers for example. The safety of your funds should have a much bigger priority than the convenience of storing and exchanging everything through the same app.
7916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social media's impact to the growth of crypto currency on: August 01, 2021, 06:25:04 AM
Social media has a strong impact on all spheres of life and Bitcoin and crypto have also been marked by it. It's easier to share content and news via social media because most people spend a lot of time there anyway doing other things. If that's the case, then why not learn about crypto as well? It's easier to follow the people and projects you are interested all in one location instead of having to browse, bookmark, and remember various websites, forums, and news aggregators to get your daily dose of crypto.

Many Bitcoiners are against social media because of the amount of spam these platforms generate or due to the fact that you lose your anonymity and trade your privacy for likes and fake stardom. But the reality is that probably 8/10 people would say they have a Facebook or Instagram account and those numbers will only keep rising with the next generations.
7917  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OneCoin Relaunch - Ruja Ignatova DeepFake! on: July 31, 2021, 08:56:45 PM
I don't have much experience with DeepFake videos so I might be missing the obvious features that would reveal that the video is fake. Or more precisely, that the face has been altered using a computer software. I do find the way she blinks quite peculiar, and it looks like the lips just freeze occasionally. What particular segments look fake to you dkbit98?

Why on Earth would someone who stole 230,000 BTC and went into hiding come back to scam more using the theme "to change the world?"
A lot of time has passed since the original scam. New investors and holders have entered the space and they will be the new targets.

If it's a copycat, then they are sure as hell very stupid.
Even a stupid and obvious scam causes naďve people to lose money. Never underestimate the stupidity of those who believe they just discovered the next thing that will make them rich.
7918  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: July 31, 2021, 07:01:03 PM
Dont know if it was mentioned before but i would love to see also maybe some tutorials how the Forum is working , would be informative and specially for new Users maybe helpful.
It sure would. A video for newbies on how to post and take part in discussions and what not to do. Things like multiquoting, quoting the OP, quoting pictures, posting unnecessarily large pictures, etc. I know I would be interested in learning more about tables and table layouts because they can be a real nightmare. I have seen it myself.

You could talk about bbcodes. I would be interested in seeing a video about the feature where you click on a hyperlink and it takes you to that part of the thread where that is discussed. Things like that, which aren't known to everyone.
7919  Other / Meta / Re: Check out RainbowKun's article to see if forums really need depth knowledge. on: July 31, 2021, 06:44:58 PM
RainbowKun's topics are looong. They are interesting but not to everyone's taste. The average forum user wouldn't know what to respond after reading one of his articles. I read the first two pieces that were recommended in OP. They are very philosophical and contain an abundance of facts and figures. Although a lot of what he says is his own thinking and point of view, I noticed he doesn't link to any sources or references that would explain the dates facts he. At least not in the 2 threads I read. I am not accusing RainbowKun of anything and it would be a shame if he left or was forced to leave.

@RainbowKun
If you are writing all that from your own memory, congratulations to you. If not, please consider adding some references because there is a lot of data there.

it.is indeed.very good to make a film about bitcoin but whether.the film will be a lot.of people watching.it, I think if.this is the case.it would.be good to be considered again considering.that later people who do not understand will look for bitcoin and moreover.they do not understand at all this, because bitcoin is currently.no longer necessary to be introduced to various forms.of films as.discussed, right?
And this is the type of stuff I'm talking about when I say the section is infested with shitposters.
The Btcvilla guy seems to make headlines everywhere he goes. I see that you you noticed him as well.

Check out these gems of his from the other day:
why most.people are reluctant.to talk about bitcoin maybe because they don't understand or because there.are many rejections from various countries.against bitcoin, maybe that could.be one of them.therefore if.this happens.it's not just a car that can.be used to buy bitcoin even there.are so many other examples.that can.be used to buy something but at this time we still can't.use it.we just need to wait for time for it.to hopefully.happen
Dude, you forgot a full stop at the end of your last sentence!

The 2nd part came soon after:
maybe many people will do this if.the company wants.to accept bitcoin as a means.of payment to buy a car, but for now we need a lot.of patience.to do this because in.my country the government has.not released.bitcoin as a legal currency in.Indonesia. my country, if.the government had.relieved.it then I would.have done that to buy a vehicle
7920  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: July 31, 2021, 06:03:18 PM
Dont forget to remove Bit-exo too as the site is gone since 3 weeks ago approximately without any updates from the admin.
The situation with Bit-exo looks bad. I just tried loading the site and it's down. People are talking about that it's perhaps an exit scam because no one has succeeded in contacting the owners and a lot of investor's money is missing. Since they have been negatively tagged and there is no info what is going on neither on the forum nor on their social media, I will remove them from my table.

Perhaps you can add 8bet.io too for the next update, it is more than 2 years old site and I havent heard bad thing about them.
It's been a long time since I last heard someone mention 8bet. I can't remember the last time I saw a signature, advertisement from this casino and I completely forgot about their existence. Sure, I can take a look at their offer as well.
