7901  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Using the Bitcoin blockchain for P2P discovery? on: January 01, 2016, 04:30:42 PM
This is a really obvious flaw but I don't think you addressed this:

If I start a new node that doesn't have the blockchain already, then how would I be able to find peers to connect to since I can't look in the blockchain?
7902  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is this BIP65 sample script standard? on: January 01, 2016, 04:24:27 PM
Hmm... I wonder if the problem is the CLTV value itself:

Code:
["ac9a09"]

What block number is that (am a bit tired and really starting to hate Satoshi for using little-endian)?

That looks like it is block number 629420.
7903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Getting rid of unneeded blkxxxxx.dat or revxxxxx.dat in core after re-indexing on: December 31, 2015, 08:53:29 PM
You are supposed to have those. Those are the raw blocks. If you delete them then Bitcoin Core won't work.
7904  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why don't we have a HD version of Bitcoin Core? on: December 31, 2015, 08:10:19 PM
Good question ask it on the github repo (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues) or on the mailing list (https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/bitcoin-dev) You will get more answers there.

Does the beta happen to be at https://beta.bitcointalk.org/?

I tried logging in but I got this error:

7906  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Multi-Sig ESCROW NETWORKs. 2-of-3/4/5 Network. (A Proposal) on: December 31, 2015, 06:25:06 PM
I like this idea.

I think its a good idea for high value deals. Would this be possible over different wallet implementations, e.g. armory & electrum?

The above thing is about how to do it in electrum. I don't know if Armory supports it or not. It would be better if people tried to do find it and help me expand this to other wallets too.
Armory can do multisig but not how you are showing with Electrum. Electrum can do it with the master public keys and generate a whole wallet of multisig addresses. Armory can only do one multisig address at a time.

Are you suggesting that the escrow address should be this type of multisig or should the address also include the buyer and seller public keys? I think it should include the buyer and seller public keys as well so that the addresses are trade specific. In that case then the whole wallet of multisig addresses is not necessary and Armory would work for this purpose as well.

I think escrows should start charging fees for normal escrow (where you send bitcoin to an address controlled by the escrow) and have no fees for a multisig escrow. That would (hopefully) encourage the use of multisig escrow since it is cheaper.

I'm thinking of starting my own escrow service in the new year now that some escrows are no longer escrowing (e.g. Blazed). I would be willing to be a part of this multisig escrow network and would also charge more for a normal escrow than I would for a multisig.
7907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What does a node do? on: December 31, 2015, 05:16:45 PM
So, does it mean, there are only 6000 people are running bitcoin core and doing mining.
No. This means that there are ~6000 people running a full node software. It could be Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin XT, btcd, etc. There are many out there but mostly Bitcoin Core is used. You can see the actual distribution of node software used on https://bitnodes.21.co/nodes/

If we assume, 50% are bitcoin core wallets means, only 3000 individual miners?
No. Most miners mine at a mining pool, so they do not need to run any type of node software. The pool runs the software. Some of them run Bitcoin Core others run their own custom implementation so they can customize it as they see fit. Even so, running Bitcoin Core (or any full node) does not mean that you are mining. However you can mine using Bitcoin Core or by pointing a miner at Bitcoin Core which will give all of the necessary data required to mine blocks.
7908  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P SCAMMER. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 31, 2015, 03:55:02 AM
I have the wallet files backed up and restored but my password isn't working thus I'm unable to send any funds out. The hacker likely didn't move the funds because he already knows he has full control over them and can move them anytime they want.
I'm sorry master-P but that is not how encryption of files work.

This statement is more or less confirmation that you do not intend on repaying any of your victims, at least that is my opinion. From what it appears to me, that you are simply trying to delay having your personal information released, potentially so you can either cover up evidence or you are hoping that those who possess your personal information either loose it or change their mind about releasingit

When I try to send coins from my Armory wallet, it asks for a passphrase. I enter the passphrase, and it doesn't work. What does that mean then? I have the wallet files that Armory prompts me to create upon the creation of each wallet. Is there a way for me to regain control or change the passphrase with these back ups? Because Armory requires me to enter this password each time I want to send funds out or to sign a message with an address. If there's another way for me to send the funds out without my previous known passwords then let me know.
What is the error? Can you post a screenshot? Are you sure that you are typing it in correctly? You don't have Caps Lock on or anything like that?

You could try to brute force the password since you have an idea of what it is/should be and maybe it will come up with the right password for the funds. You can try walletrecoverservices.com for help with that.
7909  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P SCAMMER. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 31, 2015, 03:31:03 AM
Alright so bad news is it seems like the hacker does indeed have control of the escrow wallet. I can't decrypt it anymore using the password I previously had so it has been changed. I won't be able to return the coins sent to the escrow addresses. I also noticed a lot of the addresses sent to the hacker are not addresses from my escrow wallet except for a few.

My tipping address was also within the same wallet so any funds in that address has also been taken: https://blockchain.info/address/14PUWBwK854GLenxSa7MAuxXQUXK4DKKi5

This address contains about 2.1 of my own BTC from fees/tips I've gathered from escrowing this past year. The rest seems to be sent to them by other people, as instructed by whoever gained access to my bitcointalk account.

In this case I will have no choice but to repay everyone using my own funds. Unfortunately I don't possess the liquidity to be able to repay everyone all at once, but rest assured I will work to pay this off. I apologize again for this. It was my own negligence for not keeping better back ups.

I will be creating a repayment thread in the reputation section and it will be self-modded to prevent the trolls from trying to mess things up any further.

I'll be contacting individuals who have had their funds taken away from them, will ask for verification and then will proceed to paying each person one by one when funds become available.

At this point I am sure a lot of people won't even believe me. If that's the case then go right ahead and dox me, either way it won't matter to me.

Thanks to Kingzee for creating this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1307926.0

I'll be using that thread to cross-reference the addresses I can see in the wallet and make payments accordingly. I'll also be asking for repayment addresses just so I don't end up sending it to the wrong people or people trying to claim the payments that don't belong to them. Too many god damn trolls here, consider this my last reply to this particular thread.

Sorry for disappointing everyone, I too had my hopes up.
Are you absolutely sure that you don't have any backup of the wallet somewhere so you can recover it? You are sure that you don't have paper backups, backups on external drives, backups on flashdrives, etc.?

If you don't have access to the wallet but the hacker does, then why aren't the funds gone yet?

Also, would you be willing to send a trusted member a copy of your wallet (it is encrypted so nothing can be stolen really) so that they can verify that the addresses the supposed hacker used are not actually in your wallet?

Lastly, if you solicit donations for repayment, can you use a multisig escrow with multiple trusted escrows on the forum (they can't be all bad or colluding right?) That would ensure that the victims can get their funds back and that you aren't scamming the donors.
7910  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Quality Assurance on: December 31, 2015, 12:27:38 AM
Part of the QA is the testing to make sure that the software does what it is supposed to. Valid inputs produce valid results and invalid inputs produce invalid results. The test cases are usually a couple of scenarios that are supposed to work and some that aren't. If the software is doing everything correctly, then the ones that should work will work and the ones that shouldn't won't work.

Edge cases would be scenarios that include something completely absurd that normally wouldn't happen but could happen. Those cases still need to be considered as part of the testing in the off chance that someone does something incredibly stupid to cause those cases to happen.

Unit testing just means testing specific functions of the program individually.

A test plan is basically the plan for testing a certain function. It includes the starting point, what you do, and what to expect. A test scenario is pretty much the same thing but I think it also includes the code implementation for the test.
7911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best wallet for Windows 10 and Android JB? on: December 30, 2015, 10:08:53 PM
I recommend either Bitcoin Armory or Electrum for Windows 10. Armory is a full node software (it actually uses Bitcoin Core for that) so it takes up a ton of space for the blockchain but is also very secure. Electrum is an SPV wallet so it does not need to download the blockchain. It is also fairly secure.

For Android, I recommend that you use Mycelium or Bitcoin Wallet for Android.
7912  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is this BIP65 sample script standard? on: December 30, 2015, 04:30:02 PM
What software are yous using to make these transactions? Or are you writing the hex by hand?
7913  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 30, 2015, 03:38:21 PM

Not sure I understand your ELI5. Please tell me which number you disagree with:
1) TECHSHARE threatened to dox Master-P if money is not returned.
2) Master-P (real or not) makes a post, 'proving' that he is, indeed, Master-P.
3) TECHSHARE, satisfied, agrees to stop (postpone) the doxxening.
4) No money changed hands.
TECSHARE only agreed to postpone doxing Master-P because he made a post that contained a verified signed message from a previously used address. This makes it highly likely that that was the real master-p, but we do not know for sure. If he does not restore the funds within some amount of time, TECHSHARE will continue with doxing master-P.

I am back home. I was able to access my personal wallet which contains addresses I've used for transacting here on Bitcointalk. The address I used below is one where I sold a 2500k processor to "ChanceCoats123" here on Bitcointalk. The transaction is escrowed by OgNasty. He may verify this if he wishes to. This took place in June 2015.

Clearsign signature below:

Comment: Signed by Bitcoin Armory v0.93.2

This is master-P signing this message using the address: 18ovXpWyu5kpmT6Lzp49PKDCtZNQoPhmGQ

This is an address used back in June 2015 for a transaction that involved OGNasty as the escrow.

I did not sell my account. My account was hacked and any other claims stating otherwise are false.

The hacker does not have control of the wallet that contains this address as far as I can tell.

This signature verifies in armory.

REAL-master-p you should upgrade to use Armory 0.93.3 so that you don't have issues with High S signatures in transactions. Your transactions will propagate faster and it should eliminate any issues you have with being unable to send from Armory.

Also, I advise that you send all of the funds from the wallets in the compromised computer to another wallet generated on another clean computer. Do that ASAP.

yahoo62278 have you tried contacting the companies and seeing if they would still send payments for the campaigns?
7916  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking to hire someone to run a node on: December 30, 2015, 12:43:08 AM
I can do this if it doesn't need to be windows. I have an extra linux server running that I can host this on.

It has to be windows right now because that's the only thing I am sure works from my testing.
Unless you are using windows specific stuff, it should work on linux. You are using java and java is supposed to be cross platform. If you have the source code available, I can compile it and test it for linux.
7917  Other / Meta / Re: Can not post pictures that shows up in posts. on: December 30, 2015, 12:16:31 AM
You have to be a Jr. Member or up to have the picture show in the thread. Any picture you post now will only be the link, but after you get to Jr. Member they will automatically become pictures.
7918  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 29, 2015, 11:56:31 PM
I did some poking with the PGP keys and found that the email* associated with the new pgp key on his keybase is associated with his master-p account here. The reddit account is zinoxenxe (https://www.reddit.com/user/zinoxenxe) and it was previously linked to master-P on bitrated: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:GCCGYGq4SIAJ:https://www.bitrated.com/masterp/linked+&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us. However now that bitrated page is blank: https://www.bitrated.com/masterp/linked. Very curious.

*Note: emails on PGP keys can be faked so it could be possible that a hacker is framing him but I doubt that since I couldn't actually find that email publicly.

I will be able to sign a message in about 10 hours time.

How? A couple of posts ago you said you would be home in 2 days. And some time before that you said you would be home in about a week. This just doesn't add up.
