That's not a problem....
When I said a problem, I meant in the sense that the forum attracted a user to sign up and seek help for some issues he was having, but the user wasn't interested enough to stay and become an active member of the community. That way the forum losses potentially good members.
7922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your betting budget on: August 07, 2021, 07:32:47 AM
Where can I find those tipsters?
I'd appreciate if you could point me to their threads or whatever.
I wouldn't recommend following tipsters. The best thing is to carry out your own research into the sports and leagues you are familiar with.

What if I have 20 bets that day, all at the different time?
A real good sports pundit or tipster wouldn't be able to find 20 matches a day. If I saw someone calling himself a tipster and recommending 20 different matches, I would never trust a word he says. He is just guessing and has obviously not done much research on the games he recommends people to bet on.

Sometimes one tip a day would be too much, let alone 20.
7923  Other / Meta / Re: Have bumping rules changed? on: August 07, 2021, 05:57:56 AM
they are kind to you, because they pay extra attention to you spatially...
I really don't need extra spatial attention. I have enough space as it is.

so attack the "mood" when creating new mounds.  good job...
let's show you better
I am not sure what you were trying to say with this statement of mood and mounds to be honest.
Anyways, LoyceV made some good points a few posts ago and he is probably right. Mods delete bumps once that same thread receives a few replies below the bump. A few other bumps I made after making this thread are still there, so everything is OK.
7924  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: August 06, 2021, 08:33:51 PM
We're also working on the channel's artwork. We'll likely need more materials so if you know any crypto artists that would feel inspired by the idea, point them here!
I started looking for a designer and photoshop expert yesterday for a little artwork I want to have developed as soon as I figure out exactly what I need. I took a look at the services section and here are some threads of designers I found at the first page. I am sure many more are hiding on the next pages.

7925  Other / Meta / Re: Very brief overview of Merit Source sMerit Increase impact (first few days) on: August 06, 2021, 08:09:42 PM
I also forgot to mention in my last post that I'm glad ndalliard, the member Silver80 was referring to, is giving out merits as well as earning them.  It's important for members to not be stingy with their sMerits.
Thank you! I find that very important as well. I don't like meriting members who refuse to take part in the merit ecosystem. I check before meriting anyone. If you have merits to give, but you aren't doing it, I won't participate in increasing your stash. Those merits given to hoarders are thrown away even if their posts deserve it because they aren't going to be used by said members to award others.
7926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 06, 2021, 07:20:11 AM
I prefer lower odds and more safety rather than chasing big payouts. Slow and steady. There were times, when I took bigger risks but not anymore. I will go for the straight win if I believe there is value in the offered odds. If not I would rather take a double-chance bet. I never bet on correct scores, only if it's some kind of promotion that requires it.

When it comes to accumulators, I feel like 2-4 events is enough. I remember a statement from a serious sports pundit who once said that a professional gambler doesn't bet on more than 1 or 2 events at once. If you think about it, it does make sense. Your odds are exponentially lower if you place too many events on an accu, and so much can go wrong.
7927  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 06, 2021, 07:05:33 AM

Koliko god budu pale isplate, ljudi će i dalje ostati u kampanjama, ili ako budu otišli, njihovo mjesto će zauzeti oni kojima to odgovara. Još uvijek je taj neki prosjek od oko $50 sedmično za hero/legendary rang. Već neke kampanje pipaju limte od $40-45 a pošto to prolazi onda će proći i $30 za par mjeseci.
7928  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: August 06, 2021, 06:51:22 AM
Why would you not accept Bitcoin if you make a new business? It would be with your best interests right?
I guess it depends on where the user is located. Accepting bitcoin in a country where hardly anyone uses it compared to one that is considered to be a crypto haven would bring totally different results and adoption rates. It would also depend on what kind of business he is looking to start. If the userbase is mostly people aged 50 or above, they aren't as likely to adopt a new payment method compared to those aged 30 or less who are looking to purchase some IT hardware. There is also the setup process, which isn't as complicated as people think, but it might still intimidate some.
7929  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 06, 2021, 06:39:06 AM
I think that's worse than the reported fee differences on the above Reddit link Shocked
Who knows. Maybe their profit margins aren't always the same or they vary based on the customer's locations or some other factors. Many other members who frequent this board have Ledger hardware wallets, maybe they can check what rate they get.

I should also mention these are the just the fees shown on the site once you open it. I haven't connected my hardware wallet or started the swap process. Maybe the rates would be even more different if I actually went ahead with a trade.
7930  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 05, 2021, 09:21:08 PM
I think this is basically advertisement.  It is very likely that those app are paying a lot of money to appear in the "discover " tab
Most probably, yes. Ledger isn't running a charitable organization, so if you want your name mentioned in their app, you most certainly have to pay for it. That's how advertising works. Do you remember that 1xBit at one point appeared on Bitcointalk? Theymos quickly rectified the mistake and wrote that he wasn't aware of the casino's reputation. And why would he be, if he isn't a gambler himself? The point is, no one thinks any less of theymos for selling 1xBit ad space, and I wouldn't do that in this particular case either.

Personally,  I think this is bad for Ledger. They are endorsing (indirectly) those projects, which some may turn out to be unsuccessful or just scams.
I agree, and it would be interesting to keep an eye on the brands that appear there and what happens with them in the future. Honestly, this is the first time I hear about ParaSwap and some of the other names that are mentioned to be included in the future. I wonder how quickly Ledger would end their partnership with that particular brank if they turn into a scam?

But, I don't like to see all those ads in my wallet ui
I don't think you will see them unless you enter the Discover section of Ledger Live.

I was interested in checking the rates you get from ParaSwap through Ledger Live and the ones shown when you visit the official app at https://paraswap.io/. The reddit link above was true regarding the rates on LL being worse.

At the moment when I took the screenshot, the official website showed that for 1 ETH you would get 2798 USDT.
Ledger Live had an exchange rate of 1 ETH = 2771 USDT.
That's a difference of $27 and a nice earner for Ledger Undecided I am not sure if those are the hidden fees that one user mentioned on reddit. You will lose plenty of money exchanging through LL, but if they show you the correct sum and you agree to it, I don't consider that to be a hidden fee.

7931  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 05, 2021, 05:08:30 PM
Have you personally tried using this feature that came out roughly 2 months ago?
I have not tried it. I will be back on my work computer later today and I will fire up Ledger Live to see what their TOS says about the ParaSwap (if there is such a thing). I am not that into alts and own almost no ERC-20 tokens.

In addition to that, it looks like there are "hidden fees" in place for using that feature through ledger live.
Thanks for making everyone aware of this. It is expected that Ledger would earn something with this agreement, but they seem to be taking a quite large piece of the cake. I will take a look at it.

When it comes to "hidden fees", if the app shows you exactly how much you get, I don't think it's a hidden fee. It's a different story if they showed you one rate, but you end up with a smaller sum in your wallet once the swap is finished. If their exchange rate is really bad, one might question why that is and why are they trying to make so much money on their customers.
7932  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 05, 2021, 01:33:28 PM
Ledger has recently introduced a Discover section in their Ledger Live application. There, you can find their new App Catalog that features several already available apps and many applications to be released in the future.

Currently, the following apps are accessible through Ledger Live’s App Catalog:

  • ParaSwap – A DEX for exchanging Ethereum-based tokens.
  • Wyre – A payment API only available to US customers, allowing people to buy bitcoin and various other cryptocurrencies.
  • Rainbow.me – A non-custodial wallet for ETH and Ethereum tokens, which also functions as a gallery for NFTs.
  • Zerion – A dApp for managing ERC-20 tokens and exploring various DeFi markets.

Among the upcoming releases, Ledger plans to include lending/borrowing platforms AAVE, Compound, and the staking protocol Lido.

You can read more about this below:
https://www.ledger.com/blog/rainbowme-zerion-now-available-in-ledger-live?utm_medium=announcement
https://www.ledger.com/blog/becoming-your-safe-gateway-to-all-your-crypto-services-with-ledger-apps-catalog

Ledger has also created a Developer Portal. It’s a complete guide for creating Ledger-native crypto apps and instructions on integrating your own coins, tokens, and dApps. If you are a developer and would like to develop something that will work with Ledger, you should definitely check out the resources available on the Developer Portal.

The developer portal contains examples of code and tools that can help developers build their own software for Ledger Live.
7933  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Question] Importing derivation path in Ledger Live on: August 05, 2021, 11:45:05 AM
He would have to create a new Electrum wallet, without an associated seed phrase, and import the private keys in question, but this obviously introduces new risks of not being recoverable from his seed phrase. I don't think Ledger Live permits importing private keys at all.
But he can't do that with a Ledger seed. I don't remember ever seeing an option in Ledger Live that allows you to export private keys. Can it be done from the app? I am certain Electrum can't extract them.

The only way that I know of to get private keys for specific coins would be to import the seed phrase into the Iancoleman tool in an offline environment. But that exposes your seed and shouldn't really be done unless there is not other way out.
7934  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Supported Coins Question on: August 05, 2021, 11:30:05 AM
You can, it's just that you have to interact with them via the Binance DEX rather than via Ledger Live or any other wallet software you download to computer, much like you would with Ledger wallets and MEW.
My mistake. I overlooked that part. I checked the supported crypto assets on Ledger's website and noticed that it said that Binance Coin is not yet supported on Ledger Live. Underneath, there is just a link to Binance.org. I thought it was just a suggestion on where to go to buy or store the coin.

With some other assets that are not yet natively supported by Ledger Live, like Monero, they provide a direct link to an alternative wallet. This is the first time I see just the name of an exchange. But it makes sense because at the bottom of the same site, there are links to all the various Binance Chain wallets that exist.
7935  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 51% Attack on: August 05, 2021, 07:20:42 AM
I'm guessing it hasn't had too much of an effect as most users are aware that such an attack is likely to only be temporary.
I don't know. Coindesk reported that the attack begun on Tuesday morning and it was still ongoing on Wednesday. Not sure which category that should fall into in terms of the length of the attack. As dkbit98 mentioned, separate chains were created (I think 3 in total) and they can't agree which one is the 'honest' chain now.
7936  Economy / Gambling / Re: KonradFun 8) | 50% First Deposit Bonus on: August 05, 2021, 07:05:13 AM
They are BTC and ETH, and anyone who are willing to play with crypto such choose one of it on registration process.
I created an account few days back for checking and I chose btc, FYI once we choose one of the currencies on registration, that's the only way to deposit and withdraw.
I tried the deposit menu and I can find btc as the only way to deposit and there is no ways to change it, the same on withdrawal.
That makes no sense at all. Why would they restrict a player to only one cryptocurrency Roll Eyes If they accept ETH, at least allow them to play with that coin as well. I have often shifted between BTC, ETH, USDT, and sometimes TRX (due to the low network fees) when gambling.

Are you 100% certain there isn't a small + sign somewhere in the payments or settings section that would allow you to add other currencies? I have seen that being done on certain casinos. You have to manually add that coin in your profile before you can deposit it on your account.
7937  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 05, 2021, 06:53:56 AM
Having an exception for trusted bitcointalk members can be a nice offer but on the other side it can bring a jealousy for other members especially active fortunejack players but has no enough reputation here in bitcointalk.
I know and I understand that. However you have to fight your own battles. The support staff over at the casino might not know who the player is and it's completely different when you see the name, trust, and rank of a user on Bitcointalk. Now that doesn't mean that high-ranked members can't be or become liars as well, but it doesn't happen as often and they have their reputation at stake. Now with Tornike involved, things might change for the better.
7938  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: August 05, 2021, 06:39:13 AM
You seem to have a "beef" with someone or something, but you should let that kind of judgment cloud your mind to the point that you refuse to hear anyone else. If you have reasons to believe that you've dealt with injustice, gather up your evidence and open a report on the rightful thread.
Don't encourage him. Roll Eyes

Some people just have to hate everything, you can't help them. It seems that he finally left. He hasn't been around for a few weeks, but he will be back. When he comes back and starts posting from this or a new account, you will recognize him with help of keywords such as "truth", "verifiable", "undeniable", and similar. You can't miss it. It's always a wall off text attacking the forum's admins, DT members, the trust, or merit system.
7939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The principle of entropy reduction in Bitcoin mining on: August 04, 2021, 01:51:36 PM
Since you got loads of merits recently and people were made aware of your philosophical nature, you have the required rank to post in the Serious discussion board. Have you considered doing that and do you know of its existence? You might get a completely different type of audience in that section.
7940  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 51% Attack on: August 04, 2021, 01:37:07 PM
51% attack is not happening any time soon for Bitcoin but I see that Faketoshi is having big headache after his fork suffered one more 51% attack, after four happened in month of July.
It's interesting to see that it hasn't significantly affected the price (a slight drop of 4-5%), although it's being reported that BSV has lost around 50% of its hashrate the day before the reorg. Although that can't be confirmed.

The reorg began on Tuesday according to a few sources. It seems like the attack was 100 blocks deep and affected hundred thousands of transactions. There are conflicting info and another source claims the reorg was only 14 blocks deep.
