Australia and Afganistan both are in my Underdog list from start and I am still sticking with my first analysis. That's what we can do at this moment if you judge any team by merits and not favoritism(based on nationality. deep down everyone wants to see their Home team to win no matter how shitty they play  )
My favorite team for World cup is England because this team looks very balanced to me. they bat deep, got a couple of good allrounders and playing in their backyard. those days are gone when the host team used to lose in every world cup.
Other than the Eng team, India is doing pretty good if they manage to get their combination right for playing X1 then no one can stop this team.
I would not be very surprised if India and England playing finals against each other.
Australia is the underdog in this World cup or to some extent Afganistan too. this team can surprise any team in their day, they showed the determination in Asia cup.
Newzealand and Proteas are good teams too but they don't give much confidence as a team.
Personally, I would like to see Ind vs Pak in the world cup final. if it happens then everyone can imagine the excitement in the cricketing World and for sure lockdown in both countries during the match.

Slagging Aussies are the team who used to do it the most especially in Australia vs India matches. Adam Gilchrist was the man who used to slag from behind the pitch. Back to Kiwis, Kane Williamson is a very smart captain. He knows how to use his team mates. May be this year New Zealand can bring something on the table? Oz basically took sledging on a different level. there is a reason they were called " Pack of Wolf" (Ricky ponting's team) they used to be a formidable team and sledging the opponent was one of their main tricks. worst case scenario for any team if Oz playing in home ground. Kiwis can bring good cricket on the table along with SA but that's it No world cup for them |

I don't care much about NZ or England winning the world cup but every time South Africa gets knocked out of the WC it breaks my heart  I just want them to win ASAP because well they deserve it don't they? High class entertaining team. In 3 of them, I sympathize with Black Caps only now, because their all player are kind-hearted even in intense moment-no swearing-sledding or any drama etc not to mention they play good cricket too. I used to be a fan of Proteas but After ab de Villiers's retirement not much tbh. ( I still cheer for them in Red Ball though) English Team, BIG NO...... I do enjoy watching the individual performance from the English side, still have a couple of Individual who I admire. but as a cricket team or board, they lost respect from my side when they sacked the Kevin Peterson. That's another thing that I believe England can Win this world cup. |

Even though the cricket is popular among all ages in these countries and kids spend most of their childhood playing cricket, yet we see that these countries do not always win internationally. You can just be perfect by just playing randomly from the childhood.
Countries like Australia, Newzealand, England have proper structure through which they develop their players. It is the system which is more important which can bring professional players to the international arena.
I agree on your notion that playing in the street doesn't make someone that great, but that's first step IMHO about winning internationally. Minus Australia from SENA countries. Rest of the 3 teams have mixed or in some cases worst performances. and like @Maddy pointed out No World Cup and I guess No Champions trophy as well. I am sure you know what the Windies Team did to English Team and SL team to South Africa in Red ball cricket.( both teams Windies and SL are struggling financially) When playing any sport one needs to be Passionate first, infrastructure comes later. How many world cup Newzealand and England won so far?  Not all the times, a trophy defines who is who. CR7 and Messi also don't have a world cup. New Zealand, England, Australia has better structure than sub continental countries. Australia is holding the most champions title. England and New Zealand are always having the bad luck. NZ played semi final 6 times. Can't remember the name, Martin or whatever from NZ, in 1992 world cup, they were supposed to win the world cup. NZ was the best team the then time as far as I know. Last time I checked CR7 and Messi were individual not teams, but I got your point. I agreed that SENA countries have better structure than the Indian sub-continent teams. but India is catching up now or should I say in some cases India is ahead of all cricketing nations. I also agree that sometimes Trophies doesn't define who is the better team but in most cases they do, there is a reason all of us see the old Australian team as a superior team in all department.

I missed that super over, went to bed when south africa was about reached 70. after looking at the scorecard, it seems that chokers really want to lose that match but Srilanka in the super over messed it up.

Sri Lanka lost 5 wickets to score 89 runs after 14 over. They lost their first wicket without scoring any runs LOL
South Africa is going to have a very easy win if there were no drama.
Poor Srilanka. Srilanka need to organize their team. Whatever they have, they can play better. Their top order should be changed. They are perfoeming poorly. I see some new faces there or I missed in them in the last series? Srilankan inning finished finally, they were struggling throughout the inning and they managed to put only 134 runs on the scoreboard. Proteas is happy with their bowling effort. they need only one good partnership and they can reach the finish line easily. Don't know if you guys noticed or not but interestingly Kamindu Mendis looked like a Dhawan when he was facing Imran Tahir |

Yes, the way both teams playing the cricket. South Africa should win this game. Proteas got some power hitter in the middle order, and bowling attack is lethal as well in the comparison of Srilankan team.
But at the international level gap between teams gets shorter automatically when playing 20-20 game.
