81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Governments Shutdown the Internet? on: June 29, 2017, 11:03:22 PM
It would be impossible to get all governments to agree to shut down the internet and even if they did it would cause a depression worse than ever seen before because literally every single company on the planet is dependent on the internet nowadays.

But if we imagine they did then crypto will obviously be dead. I do think however the internet would survive in some form even if it was actually banned.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is an altcoin on: June 29, 2017, 10:58:34 PM
The point is not that a hardfork is bad its that a contentious hardfork is bad because it splits the chain in 2 so necessarily one coin will be an altcoin and one will remain the main bitcoin, I think you misunderstood this point of the debate OP.
83  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex Or Bittrex? on: June 29, 2017, 10:56:49 PM
Bittrex is the best they have almost all major coins listed and usually put them up straight after the ico completes.
84  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Falling...Is it Panic Time? on: June 28, 2017, 06:55:13 AM
Nope I think it is just normal fluctuation of bitcoin,
I would only panic if it ever goes down below $1,800 again.

Yes this is true, we all know that the price of bitcoin/altcoins are really volatile so what do you expect when you do trading, its up and down of the price, and i think $1,800 is too much for bitcoin to fall it might be $2,000 and surely will bounce back when it hit its support level, so theres no time for panic, just accumulate more btc and enjoy the profit later on.

Well even if it hit $1800 I still wouldn't panic, after all how many times has bitcoin been declared dead? You would think after so many years people would get the idea that its a volatile currency but its normal in such a young market.
85  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex Or Bittrex? on: June 28, 2017, 06:54:03 AM
Poloniex is the best because of volume but they don't list as many coins as bittrex unfortunately so I have no choice but to use bittrex a lot for my investments.
86  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC sudden price fall? on: June 28, 2017, 06:50:31 AM
ppl need to cashout, that's ok.

Yep that is why we have corrections, no currency or asset can go up exponentially forever without having a substancial number of people cashing out causing the market to correct itself down a bit from time to time. The alternative would just signal a massive bubble forming.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum VS Bitcoin - The FUD on: June 28, 2017, 06:48:02 AM
The demise of ETH people were predicting just a few days ago never materialised and calling it a scam is complete FUD. Anyone who can't see the benefits of a coin with smartcontracts needs to take another think about why it has become so popular.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 🚀☠ RUSTBITS Game Economy & Trading cards Token Sale: June 26th ☠🚀 on: June 28, 2017, 06:45:16 AM
Damit, i wanted to buy in but was a bit late for the 40%:/

The bonus is still 25% for roughly 6 days more so its not the end of the world to miss out on 40% bonus.
89  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: June 28, 2017, 06:43:01 AM
Until a digital currency works offline paper money will always be around and be useful and any attempt to remove it would be met with protests. I really don't see why some people seem to think bitcoin is a replacement for fiat money, they both serve their own purposes and can work well together.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: June 28, 2017, 06:41:17 AM
Hardware wallets have made it much easier for ordinary people to use bitcoin, it makes it similar to the process of logging on to internet banking and in my opinion much safer too.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: 🌟🌟🌟🚀[ANN][04.07] ICO Starta - Cross-Coin Venture capital on the blockchain🌟 on: June 28, 2017, 06:40:16 AM
Yes, one week left until ico starts. It should be interesting.
So the chances of reaching their target within the first week is highly possible looking at the way things are going and looking at the blog post they have their calculations at hands and it looks like they will reach the target pretty easily.

It would be amazing and certainly a confirmation on the community's opinion on the value of the project if they reach their target fast. The icos that sell out quickly usually end up performing well in the long run.
92  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you give bitcoin as a wedding gift? on: June 28, 2017, 06:37:57 AM
If the people were Bitcoin users and they had a Bitcoin themed wedding perhaps I would give them a Dogecoin along with some BTC ^^
(The answer is yes but if they didn't know what the heck it was or how to use it I might be a bit evil about it and keep a private key copy of the gift for their sake...)

Oh definitely if they aren't bitcoiners and aren't very tech savy then keeping a backup key on their behalf would only be safe. I didn't really think of that.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: June 09, 2017, 02:33:22 AM
As a crypto trader, what i like most about bitcoin today is alot of investors interested in bitcoin, so price keeps rising. And it made me get more dollars than before.
There’s a bunch of people that made millions of dollars with Bitcoin and they are living pretty well right now since they’ve cashed some money out from Bitcoin. There was a documentary not that long ago that featured people that made millions with Bitcoin and it also showed what they were doing when the price of Bitcoin increased over the years. The documentary was called the rise and rise of Bitcoin.

And they were all still involved in the world of bitcoin making new businesses and promoting the currency around the world. Whether or not you believe in their vision of bitcoin one thing is for sure, they are truly devoted to bitcoin cause they could have just cashed out and lived comfortably for the rest of their lives.
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: June 09, 2017, 02:30:56 AM
Bitcoin isn't stopping people from working, its just another investment people do like many other things. You may know some people that have retired on their earnings but this is the minority of people.

You could even argue that people are so interested now due to the rise in price that they are working harder in order to be able to afford to buy more bitcoin. Is this the actual impact of bitcoin?
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's going on? Bitcoin for the rich only? on: June 09, 2017, 02:28:58 AM
Hi,

Even just a year ago bitcoin was useable... now the fees are about 10x what the banks charge. Seems like its changing from a peer-to-peer money system for everyone into yet another convenient way for rich people to exchange funds!

What went wrong> And more to the point, who is responsible? What can be done to fix it?
Thanks
Andy

Well there is some hope for a solution to come to those ridiculous fees sometime this year and if thats the case the price will rise sky high without a resulting increase in fees and we can go back to thinking about using bitcoin in physical stores again.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex is the worst platform on: June 09, 2017, 02:27:40 AM
Their infrastructure is currently terrible but their UI is amazing and that is the only reason I still use them though admittedly I've moved most of my transactions already to bittrex now.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: June 09, 2017, 02:26:29 AM
Is the breeze release going to result in a new big pump? If so then surely a price of 0.01 btc should be possible before the end of the month.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING!!! Ethereum and Ethereum Classic are SCAMS! on: June 09, 2017, 02:24:39 AM
Ethereum is very successful and likely to change the crypto history. Stop fudding, nuts.

I'm guessing those calling them scams are people who sold when the price were low or banging their heads for never buying. I have never seen a good argument for why bitcoin should fundamentally be better than Ethereum.
99  Economy / Economics / Re: Think about this: Is crypto a bubble.... or is fiat a bubble ? on: June 09, 2017, 02:23:35 AM
Maybe a repeated question ? Not sure...

Just simple economics, no need to get very deep into this question.

USD (as an example, could be other currency) has no limit, nothing scarce, it has value because people believe in it, it has history and is issued by an entity that is loosing the trust once had.

In the other hand, any crypto currency is limited, it's scarce, it's been almost 10 years since the creation and you can trust the technology.

Why is this still not worth trillions ?

As long as the USD is legal tender and inflation is kept moderate it will never be a bubble and to suggest otherwise is ludicrous. The fact that a currency is limited and scarce is not what gives it value, its the number of people using it and crypto has proven it is safe but not that it can handle large number of transactions plus it still can't be used offline.

Both serve a good purpose and neither is an ideal replacement for the other, crypto however has pumped way more than is natural given its current growth rate.
100  Economy / Speculation / Re: what happens to bitcoin when the ico thing gets hammered? on: June 09, 2017, 02:19:49 AM
the icos are getting more outrageous by the day. people are handing over millions for one shitty webpage filled with empty promises with a crappy voiceover.

at some point someone somewhere is gonna get heavy in a legal sense and the party will be over.

what happens to bitcoin in these circumstances? do people come rolling back or leave crypto for good?

and i know what some people will say, they can't be regulated, well, they probably already are but no one running them has bothered to check.

I assume they go back into bitcoin and I agree at some point the ICO party has to end or at least become more reasonable. But the problem is not only the ICO party its also the fact that almost every worthless coin is being pumped constantly, at some point the vast majority of these coins need to die.
