I love the mcxNow spam at each corner. Love it!
Huh?
mcxNOW is currently down for maintenance

In the mean-time you can join other mcxNOW members at the following places

IRC Chat

This page will automatically attempt to reconnect every 60 seconds. Thanks for your patience.

MCX has been down for some time. Did RS, no he didn't. Pours a glass of fine single malt scotch, salutes to C++ with hybrids.

Exchange is running fine, did you go to a bad URL or something perhaps? I don't have any differentiation for a 404 or any other type of error, you'll just get the "exchange is down" page.

RS: Please keep the graphics (somewhat) as they are - mcxnow is the first exchange I can just hang around and chat and 'feel at home'. Ignore the critics that don't like that Wink

Yep seems too many people have become used to how it looks now so I'll certainly have to keep the current style as an option.

I can't find the post to quote it, but MCXnow is claiming to be the leading Primecoin exchange? I've never seen their daily volume at even half of what coins-e does.

As someone else said coins-e had glitches and cryptocoincharts also isn't showing full volume for mcxNOW. I think they may not be polling the exchange quick enough.

And why on Earth does it look like a video game from 1990?

I'm looking into doing themes eventually. I changed it at one point to something less "video game-ish" and got heavily criticized for "burning peoples retinas", so I switched it back. Smiley

If you read the about page you can see that the site is pretty unique when it comes to exchange quality and security. Which is probably the most important thing when it comes to money rather than the looks.

I'm a little concerned at their claim, "We're not greedy" for setting their fees at 0.2% but then gouging a 0.1 BTC monthly subscription for seeing the full order and and for executing trades quickly!

Name another exchange that updates as fast as mcxNOW does in its free mode! Smiley . Maybe if there was any competition for the responsiveness of mcxNOW I could be forced to up the ante, but right now I think it's placed fairly well. The "pro trading" accounts are about 10-20x heavier on the site, letting everyone do it would consume too many resources. I'm looking at alternative ways to get pro accounts rather than paying with BTC though, like getting your friends or other people trade, etc. In regards to being not greedy you will see with the new feature coming further proof on this.

I just want to say thanks to all the Primecoin miners and traders that have made mcxNOW the largest primecoin exchange . I am working on massive account overhaul for the site to make depositing, withdrawing and monitoring your trades a lot cleaner. Also a new feature that will benefit everyone who has XPM!
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin Price? on: July 22, 2013, 05:45:09 AM
Marketcap isn't that good an indicator for any coin because you don't know how many coins truly are available. Take Bitcoin for instance, millions of them are lost and will never be recovered, but everyone still uses the ~11 million number to calculate its market cap. Bit silly if you ask me.

I think the biggest factor for any currency is how much money is chasing it. In primecoins case the total amount of Bitcoin on offer at any one time is a good indicator of the strength of the price.

Please don't attempt to make payments by using an exchange to send funds.  You have no guarantee that they will send the funds in time.

Should be fine sending from mcxNOW.com

Canadian guy here, just heard about bitcoins a couple months ago, and I live off the grid with no high-speed internet, so can't get in on the action yet.
I stayed up all night reading this forum, some of Morpheus's stuff about Goldcoin and stablecoin, and I am fascinated.  I see a day when there will be hundreds of distributed currencies, like Googlecoin, Exxoncoin, IBMcoin, GEcoin, maybe even Labourcoin (tagged to the value of 1 hour of unskilled labor) and so on, and a bunch of exchanges, and people will have highly diversified portfolios of currency, trading globally, without interference.  Despite what the Europeans are doing, and the Americans and the British, with their kleptocratic QE schemes and so on, a free market will arise, based on physical wealth.  As an anarcho-capitalist, this truly gives me hope.

An off the grid guy! I'm also like minded but not off the grid at the moment. Hopefully some of these *coins or p2p currency does take off because the power governments and elite bankers have over all of us is insane in my opinion.

I estimate about 6 million Bitcoins of the 11 million are "alive". Given all the recent news about Bitcoin it's hard to see price going down below the $10 -> $20 range we saw previously.

How can you estimate it? Can you reveal the mathematical formula behind your estimation?

It's based on a few things and is subjective to my own experiences dealing with SolidCoin and analysis of the Bitcoin chain. So just take it as my opinion (whatever that is worth to you) as it is very difficult to pass on the knowledge I have without writing a book on it Tongue

but how do they count the time do you need to actually do something the whole time or is it enough to be logged on?

Time browsing the forum and reading posts.

do you think the price is about to crush again?

93  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin mining environmentally responsible? on: April 18, 2013, 12:40:51 PM
Bitcoin mining isn't sustainable for a currency but for a digital commodity I don't really see the problem with it. Compared to all the waste in general society worrying about a couple megawatts of electricity mining Bitcoin is far from a concern in my opinion.
