81  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is there any way to place 4x6990 into one case .. on: June 01, 2011, 12:04:11 PM
Do note, You will still need a radiator/pump and reservoir for those water cooled cards. All they come with is a waterblock preinstalled.
82  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Crossfire for mining? on: May 27, 2011, 09:43:51 PM
Crossfire decreases performance.

Not by a whole lot though, for me, The decrease was about 1%

i have massive losses when using crossfire and mining with 6950's. Mining speed keeps varying between 200-430 on my cards instead of beeing stable at 430 with crossfire off.
83  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Watching Videos While Mining on: May 26, 2011, 07:06:51 PM
Its a bug with the 69xx cards (driver or hardware dunno). Disabling hardware acceleration on flash will fix it for the tubes. for MPC set it to use VMR-9 windowless as a renderer
84  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: run your miners invisibly only when pc idle (Download here) on: May 26, 2011, 12:36:22 PM
I love the idea, its just missing one feature, the ability to run the miner with different arguments when your not idle.
So you could run a miner at full power in idle and then when the computer is used it stops the miner then restarts with lower priority.
Also possibly allow for a delay in miner startup when you login. For some reason i crash my pc if i start my miners to early after a login (possibly some program interfering or driver not fully ready).
85  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: May 26, 2011, 11:02:12 AM
417 Mh/s
Core @ 975MHz, 1.150v
Mem @ 1250MHz
Temp @ 63C, fan @ 77%
Shaders unlocked
-v -w128

Unlikely, and with vectorization used, impossible...

Err not at all?
that looks normal for a unlocked 6950.

im doing 430 Mhash with mine

1.200 volt
unlocked shaders
1000 core
900 mem
Watercooled
~53c

86  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI 6970 Optimization on: May 24, 2011, 10:27:46 PM
Rule no #2 of mining, keep that miner up to date ! Smiley
87  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI 6970 Optimization on: May 24, 2011, 03:27:21 PM
2x6950 Sapphire/Gigabyte ref unlocked / overclocked
Vcore 1.200
Temp 51-53
Core 1000
Mem 625
Power Draw at socket 560W

Speed 431.5 mhash each
-v -w128 -f 0
guiminer

using phoenix i loose ~10 mhash

So, Skynet next?
89  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining at 7566.57 MH/s... should I go solo, etc? on: May 22, 2011, 01:36:27 PM
@Clavulanic: I am running these stock with fan cooling only. I am expanding watercooling to all soon (the watercooled machine is 400MH/s per GPU and running around 60'C).  Stock (which mine are, except for 2x cards) are expected to be at 300Mh/s, so I do not understand why I should be way above 7.5GH/s.

If you have any suggestions on how to "fine tune" my operation - let me know. It is always easier to tell someone else to destroy their $800 card instead of your own :-)

Where to begin...  first Linux, I'd install it, phoenix, and use 2.4 SDK and phatz kernel.  I'd experiment with underclocking the memory on the card, you should be able to find a sweet spot, and at the same time reduce heat production (you don't need the memory speed for mining, by reducing it, you don't hurt anything on the card).

I would expect you should be able to get 8.4+ Gh/s without having to overclock the core.

Phatk and memory underclocking does 0 or negative differance on the 69xx gpus. do read up some before spitting out that.

try increaseing que size to 2 in phoenix instead of 1 -q 2

Only a 11 GH farm? rofl tycho. thats a 11GH farm without major hardware costs or porwe cost.
im not sure what your paying for the server but i bet sure as hell it isnt 7698.34 USD a month (diff estimate 152k).

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57750 , just make sure you flash a Unlocked bios and not a 6970 bios, as those will kill you card slowly due to aggressive memory timings.

Is there any way http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/start-an-application-assigned-to-a-specific-cpu-in-windows-vista/ could be integrated so when launching the miners? so that they always start on the highest core? core 1 for a dual core, core 2 for a Triple core and core 3 for a quad core and so on?

Its a pain having to remember doing it manually every time i restart a miner.
96  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Windows Sidebar Gadget Supports deepbit / slushpool on: May 04, 2011, 02:02:10 PM
If this somehow was able to show the GPU core temperatures next to each worker thread it would be the best gadget ever.
However something like that would have to be supported by having the mining client report the temperature to the pool and then send it back through the json interface. Would be a awesome feature though.

Any chance you can hide the cmd-window to the tray when minimize it instead of to taskbar?

98  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: April 27, 2011, 12:17:43 PM
None of the sensors on the 69xx series is for the vrm's its been confirmed from unwinder that they are for different parts of the gpu chipset. Secondly the 6950 chunks down Watts when overvolted, i measured a rise from 280w to 400 when i tested out 1.3 vcore on mine. That's definitely not a minor rise in power consumption/heat, and i only got a extra 40 mhash out of the overclocking from it. ~2.5w extra per mhash? not realy worth it.
99  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5870 running at 421 mHash/sec! on: April 27, 2011, 12:11:50 PM
Hava a look a the Sapphire Trixx utility, it let me overvolt my  non ref xfx 5850. However be carefull most reference coolers tend to skimp on the vrm cooling so overvolting isnt exactly the best idea.
