81  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if bitcoin crashes to $1 overnight? on: December 12, 2018, 10:28:07 AM
As you firstly said, it would never actually happen. But let's assume that maybe there was some glitch whereby BTC was listed at $1. You'd see the supply bought up almost instantaneously. Instead of worrying about how much I'd lost I'd jump on the opportunity to load up on a big stack of BTC that could one day enable my retirement.
82  Economy / Economics / Re: The mentality of an average wannabe investor on: December 12, 2018, 10:21:02 AM
I do not know what these people doing on bitcointalk forum if they did not believe in crypto future, especially these people which saying that Bitcoin will go to zero. Emotion driven investing decisions usually are bad decisions. I am glad that I did not invested more than I am willing to lose, so my emotions about my investment are not that strong.
You really do think most of the people you see on bitcointalk have a clue what they are doing. Virtually a larger percentage of the people on bitcointalk heard that they can make some bucks from campaigns and that was one of the reasons we saw so many of them driving here like bees. Sometimes, even when I get to see what some legendary members post when it comes to the way the market is behaving, I tend to wonder if they even managed to learn any lesson at all since they have been in this space.

It is what it is, mentality of people when it comes to increasing their wealth is to just hop into anything that makes that possible, as long as they hear of the promise, and they never care to learn the needful to make them understand what it takes to even be able to make good decisions when investing.

It stems from the fact that people are always taught thinking along the lines of the early bird gets the worm. Applying that logic to something like bitcoin, everyone invests before they even know what they're investing in. Then their investment starts of doing well and they think it's some sort of miracle investment and they don't bother to ever research it. They just focus on their wealth increasing and nothing else. Then when the market turns sour they have no information or understanding as to why and panic sets in.
83  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: paper trading V real treading on: December 11, 2018, 03:53:49 PM
The biggest difference you'll face is the dynamism in real trading that you don't have with paper trading. And for that reason you need to be constantly adapting and reading a situation quickly.

If trading on low volume markets you'll also have to compete highly with bots which can make getting orders filled very annoying.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Parliament Member Wants You to Pay Your Taxes with Bitcoin on: December 11, 2018, 03:51:52 PM
if applied, this will help Bitcoin go legal in UK in time, a very short time.

Except he's pretty much a nobody in the government and has little influence over others to convince them of anything. Oh and also bitcoin is already legal in the UK. It can be accepted as a currency if vendors wish and it can be used by anyone. It is just not recognised as legal tender.
85  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where Bitcoin will skyrocket this time? on: December 11, 2018, 03:50:10 PM
No one can truly know. Without breakthroughs in adoption it's hard to see bitcoin pushing towards 100k or higher. Alternatively if there are major breakthroughs with adoption then we could see bitcoin easily moving to 6 digits.

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The problem of Crypto`s survival on: December 09, 2018, 06:30:25 PM
Hello.

Despite the fact that crypto-engaged people used to say, that crypto is "very young" technology, in fact almost 10 years past from the appearance of bitcoin, so it is not young at all. However, nothing has changed actually for these ten years. We uses to talk about crypto as a "currency", but it still doesnt work as a currency.

And i think, that this fact shows us, that the current technology is far from the appropriate one, and in the future it will become the main reason for the current coins to dissapear.

Maybe the present developers will play their role of pioneers and the future generations will consider their mistakes and make the really useful crypto. To be honest: do we really have useful crypto today? At least for something... No! Only ripple comes to my mind when i speak about usefulness, but it is centralized. (however, first right step was done)

We need crypto for something really important, not only for payments, and society needs it too. I think, that the perspective spheres for crypto projects and blockchain are: cloud storages, computing power, authenticity systems (for elections, government`s money flow).
However, unfortunately, all we have are dexes, doubtful platforms and empty promises.

However, i dont think that we should afraid of the bad outcome for the bitcoin at least, because it became the digital gold not only for enthusiasts, but for the serious people too (those who knows the history of the real gold will understand me), that`s why his price will grow in the future. (but not as much as you want)

Do you agree with me? Why do YOU think the current coins will dissapear?

Thanks for attention

I agree, most coins currently have little to no utility. Even those with underlying utility are not being used as so due to lack of adoption and an abundance of price speculation.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fixing Volatility on: December 09, 2018, 06:27:45 PM
If any of you had control of bitcoin, how would you fix the volatility problem?

Volatility does not need to be fixed, it will be resolved in time as adoption occurs and demand becomes more stable. So therefore to answer your question I would just push for mass adoption and seeing bitcoin used for its utility instead of as an investment.
89  Economy / Economics / Re: How can blockchain shake up the accounting industry? on: December 09, 2018, 06:26:27 PM
One of the best advantages of blockchain technology for accounting is its public and transparent nature. It's easy to follow the flow of money unlike with traditional accounting measures. It might not be the best thing for some more savvy/bent accountants but for honest people it's a blessing.
90  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading on: December 08, 2018, 07:40:36 PM
TA will still be working fairly well in this market, at least from what I have seen. You just need to use very narrow ranges and not be greedy. You'll be unable to pick buy points and aim for 20% or more returns, you'll need to be looking at a few percentage points only. For the majority of the year resistance/support levels have held for at least a few tests and so if you can accurately identify them on the first 1 or 2 you can profit.
What you have said may be risky in the volatile price market. Because the last stop is unknown at this moment and can cause a great loss for the new one.
With technical analysis it can be useful in short-term trade and I do not recommend you to use TA for long-term trade.

Long term TA will go out of the window very soon in the current market. If the price breaks below circa $3000 then who knows what resistance level it will end on. I wouldn't advocate using TA for long-term trades either, but short term it works just as well in a bearish market as a bullish one, perhaps better in terms of accuracy, just not quite as well in profits.
91  Economy / Economics / Re: Manila Residents to Be Paid in Ether for Cleaning Up Polluted Habitat Area on: December 08, 2018, 07:39:03 PM
This is not really a big ethereum news, it doesn't use many of the features we love, it doesn't really show off the greatness of ethereum blockchain and doesn't really do anything other than just a good PR and a cheap advertisement. If this is a success they can go around cleaning beaches and paying people money and then call themselves "ethereum is so good it is used to clean the world" and whatever.

I think the main point here is that that money could have been paid in fiat as well, you can just directly pay cash to someone who cleans it, there are economic problems in Manila that causes them to not pay people to clean in general, give them a million dollars to clean everywhere and they will rank highest in hygiene rankings. Doesn't matter if its ether worth a million or just fiat a million.

Yet you have to start somewhere. You cannot begin to introduce people to the greatness and the lovable features without first introducing them to ethereum. You do that by obligated them to look in to it as they now own some.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lets face it, real money controls BTC and crypto ... on: December 08, 2018, 07:37:26 PM
This is a normal, free market. It is demand and supply that regulates the price. If someone likes something, then he buys it, if not, then no. It is possible that fiat money will never disappear, but it does not matter for the BTC price drop.

Of course it matters for the BTC price drop. BTC is priced against fiat. People only decide how much BTC is worth based on how many dollars they'd exchange for one, not how much food they can get for it or how many they'll need for a car or a house.
93  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lets face it, real money controls BTC and crypto ... on: December 07, 2018, 10:53:40 AM
Well duh. The market is priced against FIAT so if people are facing a squeeze on their FIAT due to economic conditions then they're going to need to sell their crypto to gain more FIAT. Much like all alts follow the path of BTC, BTC will follow the footsteps of FIAT investments.

This will not ever change until BTC can be readily used as a payment option and is therefore not tied to FIAT.

Each correct submission will be rewarded 0.03 ETH on acceptance.

It's a shame that this is no longer worth the 500+ pesos that it was originally going to be. Still for many people in Manila being able to earn even 200 pesos for doing this is a good days work. It just won't bring as much attention as it otherwise would have. It's a great way for engaging a community and introducing people to the benefits of cryptocurrencies at the same time.
Payout have lessen due to market price decline but it doesn't change up the amount of ETH that you can potentially earn. For now you would really receive less but its much better than nothing at all.
500 Pesos is equivalent on 1 day work if we do base on minimum rate which isn't really bad at all. This movement can really spread out cryptos existence and its usage knowing that PH is really positive
when it comes to crypto.

Yes, it's much better than nothing for people who currently have no work or who would've wanted to participate for free. But the opportunity to have earned 500 pesos in a day would've been enticing for a lot of people given that many earn much less than that.

So no chance of making a living out of it, and it's pretty damn obvious, you can't go around and pay that much and if you have that much money laying around you could simply utilize the money to tackle pollution on an industrial scale.

As I said, $10.50 (roughly 500 pesos) is actually a very good days pay for a lot of Filipino's. It may not seem a lot to those of us who are westerners but it goes a lot further there and there are a lot less job opportunities.

97  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Social Sentiment Trading - Resource on: December 06, 2018, 10:35:45 AM
Sentiment indicators are always poor at understanding the overall trend in a market and how one set of news differs to another. To exemplify, if for example there were some moderately positive news reports around bitcoin, the sentiment indicator would move to positive, despite the fact that the sentiment probably wouldn't change in the current bearish market. News is often ignored or overlooked because people are not always rational.
98  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I like to learn to become a "week trader" where are good places to start? on: December 06, 2018, 10:33:07 AM
I would avoid any paid groups etc, you can have just as much or more success on your own. I would begin by finding a few coins that you like and are interested in and then use those coins to trade with. Trust in simple methods such as buying the rumor and selling the news and learn how to understand support and resistance levels. Following the news for just a few projects won't take much commitment and you'll be able to buy or sell dependent on the project progress.
99  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Pro Limit orders. No fees right? on: December 05, 2018, 07:19:06 PM
I've not used coinbase before so don't know the full ins and outs but have faced similar before. I would suspect it was that the order book was changing and your limit orders were being filled instantly. Either way do post back so it can help any others.
100  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Price Action vs Fundamental on: December 04, 2018, 08:11:38 PM
What is considered to be the best 'bear market' approach as a newbie - Price Action or Fundamental trading?

Best bear market approach for a newbie is to do nothing. Spend this time learning and wait for a strong reversal signal, then buy and hold. If you try trading in a bearish market without knowing what you're doing you'll get rekt. Understand your own capabilities and the current market and stay away.
