Sorry if this has been asked many times before. I know Crypti from its association with Sia. I'm just being curious, as a developer, how does one bring a DAPP out from Crypti-sphere to a specific platform? Do end-users also need to be Crypti users somehow?
Apologies again for the basic question. I read the info on the Crypti website and still haven't figure out how to actually works... Is there a Crypti fo Dummies guide out there?

v0.5.0rc release today?
From Taek on Slack this morning: what's coming out today is 0.5.0-rc1. There will not be a Github release for it, just some binaries we share around.
0.5.0 is targeted for the 19th.
We release a 'release candidate' so that error-tolerant users can help us find bugs or features that we missed. Then we fix any major problems before launching the actual release.

I notice that some new users are still thinking that they have no balance because it does not display before unlocking the wallet and I think the unlocking should only be done after the wallet is fully synced up. I realize this was meant to be a feature but from a practical standpoint perhaps that should be re-evaluated.
FYI I'm seeing some odd behaviors with the API where confirmedbalance is still reported although the wallet is locked (usually locked, after having been unlocked). Not sure of there's some caching or something, but the 'feature' does not seem solidly implemented either way. |

Well it is limited to their wallet. I am updating a 4.8 wallet right now, and all seems fast and normal. However I am only doing this because my trusty 4.6 I had been using stopped working out of nowhere  "exiting Siad" "Code 0" error ...has a few coins in it, so I am hopping to transfer the wallet json and pick back up those coins. In those cases, it is worthwhile checking what siad returns on the command line. I've seen EOF errors due to renter issues. Anyway, you better stay with the most current version for less bugs, more bells'n'whistles. PS: Don't forget to back up your wallets. Its just a text file and you just need to do it once. |

I like this coin, but the wallet is indeed buggy. Is there a wiki or something that would help deal with the most common bugs that pop up? Siacoin reminds me of Bitshares a year or so ago (that is a good thing... good tech, nice clean GUI, but it has some bugs left to work out.)
There isn't currently a wiki, though you'd be welcome to set up up :-) You can post questions, bug reports here and they will be read by devs or knowledgable community members eventually. Also, I advice you to hang out at the official forum at http://forum.sia.tech. Chances are you'll get a reply faster on the forum, rather than here. There's also the Issues tracker on GitHub, though that's mostly for critical bugs one (i.e. not feature requests). What kind of bugs are you currently exeriencing? Yes, the current wallet has much to desire. There is a new version planned to be released late January. The user-experience should definitely me a lot smoother, and productive, once its out (and the new bugs resolved ;-) The Sia project is very good, and the development team focused and professional. I predict 2016 to be the Year of Sia :-) |

I'm working on a cross-platform Monero GUI, codenamed Mono (esperanto for "Money"). It's essentially a Node.js app built with the Electron platform: http://electron.atom.io/You should look at the Sia wallet, which also uses Electron. You could build on that if you didn't already make significant progress: https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia-UIThanks for pointing this out! Very helpful, the Sia wallet looks great. The code will be open source, I'll definitely keep you posted when things get rolling. Let me just add that the Sia wallet is structured so that all pages are 'plugins', i.e. its very easy to add your own 'plugin'. The core functionality resides in a couple of files and I don't think they're very Sia specific either. Mostly just generalized siad calls etc. I think you could very easily plug in your bitmonerod RPC calls in the code and get meaningful results very quickly. Could save you months of work. Seriously. |

Windows? Mac? Linux? Do you know if the daemon, i.e. siad is running? From command line, in the folder where siad and siac are, try to run: windows . i run sia.exe and it says siad starts ok. In the folder where sia.exe is, look for siac.exe. It might be in \app\resources\Sia\. Not sure on Windows. If you find it, run the command siac status. It will give you a bit more info. Other than that, it sounds like it could also be a firewall issue. Make sure Windows allows sia.exe to connect to the internet. |
