OOOPS!  Catswold-petard-hoist.

You know, crow really doesn't taste that bad if you add enough salt.  Tongue

Oh, I know.  I have had plenty in my day!

Look, the bottom line is that the many of us that complain about Middlecoin's "quirks" are still happy here.  My rigs are basically set and forget.  I haven't even logged into them in a week as I can check on their status via a webpage I have setup for remote monitoring.  I also get pretty good payout here.  I basically meet or even beat the Dustcoin projections for my hashrate on a daily basis.

But it's damn unprofessional to have the stats go down on a 24/48 hours basis.  Most of us like to check our balance here on semi-hour basis and we haven't been able to do that easily for days without using 3rd party apps/websites and those don't always load correctly on mobile devices.  It was a Coingeek problem last time.  Ok, fine.  I get that.  But it is still H20's responsibility to notify his customers (us!) of what is going on.  Now it appears that it isn't a Coingeek problem this time as the JSON data seems frozen.

It just seems that if I were knocking down the $/day that H2o is, than I would either fix these problems myself ASAP or get it farmed out to a programmer who knows what he is doing.  Or, at the very least, I would let my customers know what I will do about it even if it can't be done immediately.  I don't think that is an atypical request.

Quote from: Catsworld
One "airs grievances" by directly addressing the party with whom one is aggrieved.  Posting your complaints on a public forum hoping for others to chime in in agreement is whining, not "airing grievances."

Uh, no.  The "airing" of grievances is, by the very definition, to make public.  Hence the word "airing".

Whining, on the other hand, is to utter a plaintive, high-pitched tone or to protest in a childish fashion.  Neither of those I have seen here lately.

Back to English 101 for you!

Yup...

There should be middlecoin-haters thread so all people could have their frustration there.
Then we could have constructive thread here.

How is airing grievances with the stat issue not "constructive"?  We all pay our 3% to H2o.  Do you believe it is not sane to expect the stats to work daily and to not have issues every 24-48 hours??

The Middlecoin stats DB have become the cryptocoin equivalent to the Obamacare website.  Pay a ton of money into it and it still breaks constantly.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 24, 2014, 01:10:28 AM
Yes, there is something wrong with the stats.

Now I just need a script to automatically repost this every 5 minutes.

How about you make a script that gives a swift kick in the ass to H2o and give us a fucking update on the stats?  I get that it might be a coingeek problem, but as the owner of the pool, everything is still his responsibility.  It's unrealistic and just not professional to expect us to have to look at 3rd party apps for this kind of information.  What the fuck is our 3% going for if not for some kind of updates on issues with the pool??
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 23, 2014, 02:23:10 PM
I'm kinda pissed the personal stat websites still aren't working properly.  We are going on 24 hours now.  Why no updates from H2o?  He in Disney World or something??

I like this pool but as soon as someone else comes along and designs a similar pool that gives the same performance that Middlecoin does then I'm moving my farm away.  The lack of information from the pool owner is really alarming IMHO.  How hard is it to tweet the issue and to give an ETA on the fix?  I could teach a monkey to handle that job.

just curious, but 110v or 240v?? i'm assuming 240v but from your home or do you rent business space?? been crunching numbers lately.. wanted to add a 240v breaker box for my servers and then mining came along.. i'm fine up to 200A - was going to allocate 50A for starters.. keep reminding the wife not to plug the vacuum into room with "all the computer crap".. ups protected, but she just keeps bringing it all down.. the whole breaker thing is too much Smiley

I own my own business so I have my farm setup there at my building. Already have 600 amp 3-Phase power to my facility so I just added twin 30A 240v breakers for the farm.  Sized each breaker to handle 5 rigs (each with four 280xs).  Only running 8 rigs currently. The heat output sucks so im getting quotes for A/C systems just for the server farm room. Will need them if we want to expand any further.

Not to keep jumping you guy's little, lets say "disagreement", but I sure as hell treat this more of a business than a hobby.  I clear over $250/day on average (yesterday was NOT average Wink ) here at Middlecoin and have already made enough mining LTC the last 12 months to pay for all my equipment and for even more farm buildout.  No friggin hobby dollar amounts here...

 Huh Huh

Mining is VERY competitive.  It's an arms race against the ASIC clock.  It's also a race against the rising difficulty clock.

Asics's are coming one way or another.  I still think it will be a while before they offer the performance/price that makes sense.  Also, it will take a generation or two to really get the kinks worked out.

But if you aren't either racing to get as much coin now as you can, then you are bringing up the rear because the rest of use are building farms.  We want to collect/cash in as much BTC as possible before ASICs drive the difficulty up so much that you actually NEED said asic to mine/survive in this hobby.

Sure wish H2o would give us an update with why the personal stat pages arent fooking working.

Love this pool. Just hate the lack of transparency and info when shit breaks.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 23, 2014, 12:21:04 AM
I also have a farm. 8 rigs with 4 gpus each. But I welcome asics. Ive already made my money back. Id love to sell off my GPUs and replace them with power savings asics.

But this aint happening anytime soon. We are a long way from stable asic hardware at a good price/performance point. Several gens out im afraid.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 22, 2014, 10:46:31 PM

Regardless, since ASIC resistance is such a core feature of alemost of the coins we're mining on Middlecoin, I'm not worried.  If ASICs are made effective, the coin devs will make tweaks (small or large) that will make them useless.

I hope to hell this statement never comes true. If you want crypto currency to ever be considered mainstream then it needs stability in the public eye.  If the devs can just change the way a coin is mined on a whim then what other things can they change for themselves??

No. ASICs will come and the coin devs that are smart will embrace them and not change a damn thing.

H2o please hire someone that knows DB programming.  The web page stats freezing multiple times a week is unacceptable when the pool owner is knocking down $4K+ day.

94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 21, 2014, 07:12:24 PM
This is nuts today. I have nearly doubled my largest payout ever here with Middlecoin and we still have another 7 hours to go until payout.

I love mining dogshit!!!

Noticed the coin diff this morning is 135.  That isn't doge.  Wonder what we are mining and if we are giving doge a break.

With as much dough as H2o makes, he could easily hire a lawyer and sue teabag licker for this defamation.  At the very least it would be worth a $500 office meeting with a lawyer for H2o to seek legal advice and have a letter sent to teabag telling him to cease and desist all accusations lest legal action will be taking place.

That's what I would do anyway...

Why do you think he's having problems with the SQL programming?

Because he hasn't thanked people for help on his twitter feed in reference to SQL database programming.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 20, 2014, 05:38:54 PM
Wonder if H2o is/has considered bringing on a SQL programmer, even on a limited basis, to help him out with the DB issues?  Seems like we are averaging one or two issues a week now.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 20, 2014, 05:31:00 PM
Noticing that the web stats are flat lining.  Generally I wouldn't have a problem with a database problem anywhere else as it shouldn't impact payouts since we are still mining.

However, there does seem to be some correlation here at Middlecoin between flat lining web stats (read: database issues) and poor payouts.  I am hoping this isn't the case as we have been kicking ass for several days in a row now and there is no reason today's payout should come in less than 25% (or more) than yesterdays unless it's because of unexchanged.

I'm basing it on one of H20's last posts here...

The US server now has the new code, which doesn't disconnect on coin switches. It's bugged to have 1% extra rejects, which show up as "duplicate shares".

Of course that could also mean he subsequently pushed that code to the the non-beta server too...but why do that if he was going to replace middlecoin.com with the front-server that would switch you to your regional server eventually anyway.  I know I wouldn't change the existing stable server until all the beta's are done and then I would update it.  But you're right, that part is definitely an assumption.  H20 hasn't said either way.

But USEast (and EU and Asia) are definitely on a new and different codebase than what was there in December.

Read these posts to clear up your confusion:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259649.msg4374100#msg4374100
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259649.msg4357914#msg4357914

I read these two posts as all servers are running the same code base and the 1% rejects have been fixed.
