81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO] Graft - credit card and crypto payment processing network on: December 30, 2017, 12:16:18 AM
Very interesting project. How does Graft protect merchants from large fees for currencies such as bitcoin if the merchant has to pay it?
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PFR][EtherDelta] PAYFAIR | Decentralized escrow and P2P exchange on: December 24, 2017, 12:40:53 AM
I find it really weird that you and Confido both are escrow programs with low market caps. I think that is why you are not getting so much attention. Being open source and having private test builds definitely helps. I am interested, but not yet invested.

Hello! We are following the roadmap, a fully working product will be released approximately in the 4th quarter of 2018.

Did you mean that? Because that would mean the roadmap was off and the product is a year away. Please clarify.

By fully working product I think he means the roadmap will be totally complete.
83  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segwit is a 51% attack on Bitcoin on: December 23, 2017, 11:52:47 PM
Segwit is a 51% attack (aka a hard fork) solely because segwit coins have a different attack vector profile than non-segwit coins, making segwit coins non-fungible with regular bitcoins.  Unless you can somehow objectively prove segwit coins are equally or more secure, but if you did it objectively, the result would probably be that the attack vector on segwit coins is higher, such as miners turning them to anyone can spend.
Segwit is not a hard fork, and a 51% attack is not a hard fork. Segwit is a soft fork. You can choose to not use segwit.

The anyone-can-spend vector is complete nonsense. Did you know that pay-to-script-hash was the same way? To old nodes, P2SH was "anyone-can-spend". Today there are individual P2SH addresses holding over a billion dollars worth of bitcoins by themselves. Sounds pretty solid to me. Stop the FUD! It's not helping anyone, segwit has already been activated (and that's a good thing).

You completely disregarded the issue of fungibility.  Bitcoin is not fungible from the start, so people just ignore further issues that add to that problem, but it doesn't mean I'm not right.  Your stance is that fungibility doesn't matter at all.  Newsflash:  it's not money in the first place unless it's fungible.  If it's not fungible money, then all it is is a govt tracking and enslavement system.

If you would just create a new address for each transaction as was the original intention it would be fungible would it not?

Good luck everyone! waiting for that Christmas present xD
I think this will be a Christmas present for BOSCOIN holders, and will probably get closer to the news listings in exchange
everyone waiting boscin trade at kucoin, i hope the price will same at price HITBTC 3$, good luck dev

Though I would love to see this coin open at over 1000% returns on the first day however historically the IOU's trading on HitBTC see a 70-80% drop in value when they open for trading on the first day. This is because no one is actually able to sell at the current price so it is artificially inflated until deposits are allowed. I have never even once seen an IOU that did not drop in value after deposits were opened.
87  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is the most expensive vaporware in the history of software industry on: December 22, 2017, 05:56:53 PM
Bitcoin just doesn't deliver what he promises, cheap and fast money transactions. Transactions via BTC network are not cheap at all ($55 per transaction and raising), they are the most expensive transactions around, plus you can't even make a transaction because network is clogged, 282 000 unconfirmed transactions, we only have a promise of Lightning Network as a solution for this problem, solution that is not fully implemented, solution that is not Bitcoin, promise is not a solution, promise in software industry is called vaporware. In my honest opinion, after 5+ years of using BTC, currently it's worth $0 (ZERO).

I think there are way too many heavily invested stakeholders to let this coin truely drop to 0$. If such a crash were to begin to happen I believe the miners and other stakeholders would get their act together and develop updates to resolve the weaknesses of the coin. For example, do you really think coinbase would profit from the complete collapse of the crypto market? I think they would rather invest in infrastructure to make it last for the long haul.
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: 45% drop - this is new territory, never seen before on: December 22, 2017, 05:52:11 PM
I'd say it's more than reasonable to expect that an unprecedented rate of growth would be followed by an unprecedented correction. You're forgetting that some of the growth we've seen in the past month was also "never seen before". Wish I could have called the top better but I bought back at 11k. The fundamentals are trash right now with the fees and slow speed I'll admit but I think it's easy to underestimate just how retarded a person can be.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worst coins ever. on: December 18, 2017, 11:23:19 PM
Confido is probably the most recent example of a failure. It made such headlines that projects alike (such as Payfair) cannot take off with a working product.

I wouldn't say Dogecoin is bad, but if you got caught in one of their yearly pumps, you'd be suffering big time. However, I have not read into it enough to understand what they are trying to do...

If dogecoin actually wants to accomplish something. I don't get why they don't just rebrand. I just can't envision a future where we are all doing business with dog memes.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Mirrax's HIGH RISK altcoin investment guide for 2017 on: December 18, 2017, 11:19:45 PM
I'd be looking at Payfair as a short/Midterm hold. There is a lot of uncertainty in regards to the project being very similar to Confido, and people are worried it might end up with the same outcome.

The other one is Mywish. Currently only on ED, so any news of a new exchange will likely make it take off.

In my opinion, if PFR fails it will be because on incompetence rather than a flat out scam. The developers have provided time stamped pictures of themselves to prove that their identities are real and that they are not going to disappear. They are struggling with brand image and marketing but a lot of us investors are helping with that by pesting them on their tele. Their changed their logo because of it. It's not much improved and the white paper has is now error free thanks to us. But yeah it's pretty bad these problems exist at all. At least they have a working demo.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BOS] BOScoin Self-Evolving Cryptocurrency Platform on: December 18, 2017, 11:14:48 PM
Boscoin has reached $ 3.2 on HitBTC. this is wonderful!!!
yes it is but i dont know how it is been added or withdrawn on the exchange since the states it only exchanges the IOU token. they should please attend to the token withdrawal and deposit on hitbtc

It is not tradeable yet. The price isn't the genuine price because all investors are being locked out from being able to sell. What you are seeing now is only the demand side of the price with no supply.
92  Economy / Lending / Re: Buy/refinance my student loans? on: December 15, 2017, 09:05:28 PM
Hello,

I know this is a long shot but here goes:

I'm midway through my PhD (Which I have a scholarship for) and my student loans are in deferment. I currently have about 96k in student loan debt from undergrad and master's which is gaining interest faster than I can pay it down (my living stipend isn't very high). I'm looking down the barrel of crippling monthly payments for years - I wasn't able to monetize my undergraduate degrees (psychology and biology) suitably and found that I really needed a PhD if I wanted to make enough to even justify and breathe having the debt. One of my loans was a predatory, non-federal loan - I eventually had to just transfer it to a credit card with a low APR deal because the interest was killing me. I know I shouldn't have borrowed this kind of money to go to school, at the time I thought it would pay for itself easily when I finished.

I'm not sure how this would work, or even if anyone would be open to helping me sort it out. I'm planning on staying in academia when I finish and focusing on communicating science to the public - it won't be the most lucrative job in the world, but I should be able to make decent payments until the debt is repaid, especially if the interest isn't crippling. My current PhD end date is in mid 2020 (but I may finish sooner) and from there I will hopefully find a postdoc somewhere and be able to start paying a reasonable sum immediately.

Thanks for reading, any help/pointers would be appreciated.

Here's a screenshot of my student loan page
What are you offering for collateral?

95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 💰 💰 💰 WTS 49k BOScoin at .40$ per BOS 💰 💰 💰 on: December 13, 2017, 02:14:36 AM
it is interesting, but I do not understand the freezing calculator rewards - can you explain me. As you are offering 49K - if I take 1K and freeze them what will be my reward after 1 year?
1 BOS unit equals 10,000 BOS  - not very clear, but what are you offering according this  49 BOS that are equal to 49, 000 BOS?
And the price is per 1 BOS or 10,000 BOS?

Sorry it took so long to reply, in order to earn freezing rewards you have to have one freeze unit which is 10k bos. rewards can be calculated in the provided link although that is just an estimate.

Bump, still available.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PFR][EtherDelta] PAYFAIR | Decentralized escrow and P2P exchange on: December 13, 2017, 02:12:28 AM
Hello everyone!

We updated the demo version of our platform. At the moment the platform is in the test mode (network Ropsten). You can check it and test it via the link: http://demo.payfair.io

1. A test platform on Ropsten is open
2. The interactions between counterparties and escrow nodes are tested
3. The testing of the rating system
4. Time periods refinement
5. Security framework is verified
6. A PFR ETH p2p exchange is integrated in Ropsten (refinement, bug fixing, in the future popular tokens will be implemented)
7. A section for complaints and suggestions is added
8. 90% percent of the work is focused on the back-end, which is not visible distinctly, but it is very important for scalability
9. We started working on the documents about the platform.

Hello PFR team,

Congrats on the updates and for great looking project Cool.

You will have fully working platform in q1/2018?

Will PFR be listed on some bigger exchnges soon? I saw on twitter you will be listed on Yobit, anything new about this?

Do you have a plan for marketing, so you could attrakt new investors? Also with new exchanges new investors will come.

I see this project as great investment and great project Smiley

All the best to the team Smiley

We filled out the form for yobit listing, we paid them and now we are waiting for response. It will take 10 days.
As for other exchanges: we have contacted a lot of them, some of them haven’t replied, the other are expensive.

So we have a guaranteed listing with yobit in 10 days? How high are the fees? Perhaps the community could pool for them, you could do a "gofundme" of sorts.

Trueflip seems to pass us. He got a vote very quickly. I do not believe it is right. If I lose, I will not trade in the case of kucoin again.  Angry
Truflip is 160 votes behind but catching up quick.
only 40 votes behind currently,
it's suprised me they raised the vote so fast, so boscoin listing will be delayed ?

We are only 24 ahead now! They are coordinating. Everyone must vote or listing wont be till January at the earliest! Vote vote vote!

Well,BOScoin is challenging against Binance coin to be listed on a random exchange, is that right?
Please guys, could you tell me you can do better than that? We are not talking about a random token airdrop here!

The worst part is that we are only being considered on this exchange (the exchange that listed confido BTW) because of the vote. Nothing to do with Boscoin teams efforts.
