81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW ANN][AIRDROP] 🚀 DSTRA COIN [DST] 🚀 [PoS] [PoC] [AIRDROP] [MASTERNODES] on: May 18, 2018, 06:03:00 AM
Hello fellow DSTRArians, great to that we are back on BCT for broader promotion.

Looking forward to continuing with DSTRA and missed the forum here, for this last AD3 -- which is my first one, to add to my participation. I have posted at least 2-3 times and since I was not involved or registered in either AD1 or AD2 (AD2 was just ending when I signed up) all of my posts ought to count.

Unfortunately, I have to add that also since I signed up I have lost participation not only on BCT because your original thread disappeared (perhaps I should be copying and documenting each and every one), BUT there were several of my initial messages on DSTRA forum that were also mysteriously deleted... attributed to the database disconnection and update (upgrades) on DISCORD.

So with that 'luck' I certainly hope this is a true coin community that delivers, and I have faith that it will since I see members from another group I am involved with here (on our forum).

Overall and to summarize, it's not been a smooth sign up since tasks I've been asked to perform and completed have now been taken down, about 1/4 of them, but I'm hanging in there and don't expect this to happen again. This is evidenced by the fact that this thread was just created today (it's 11:03 pm PDT right now on 17 May, 2018), on 17 May, 2018 and I joined on 2 May, 2018.

I'm glad to be part of the DSTRA community!
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinToken (BTK) De-centralized. Open Source. Community Maintained on: May 13, 2018, 01:39:15 AM
Well I don't know what happened to the other ANN thread, except it was moved to the 'trash' for some violation.

I was just in the process of completing all of the steps for Airdrop 3... so that's a bummer unless there is reason to doubt that this is a genuine altcoin and airdrop offering to participate in.

Then I searched for any newly created ANN thread and found this one instead, and also via Twitter found the main page on AltcoinsTalk forum, so still getting up to speed once there is indication of VALID airdrop or other participation. Willing to provide support but don't want to waste my time.

Awaiting further confirmation of this after joining Telegram, AltcoinsTalk, Twitter follow and also other groups mentions as required for other promos, i.e. Telegram/Twitter of Sparta, AltcoinsTalk (in addition to Bitcoin Token #BTK telegram, and others... come on let's hear some feedback please.

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AIRDROP] Internet of Virtualization Token (IOV) Airdrop (Round 1) on: April 27, 2018, 04:58:38 AM

Website is currently being developed and it is almost done. Should be up and running in about 3 days. Final tests are being done atm.
The white paper will be uploaded soon

Ready yet... it's the 27 April now?

I would like to go ahead and complete the form but do not wish to accumulate any more useless tokens. Give us a sign that this is legitimate token with whitepaper/roadmap please and we can wait a couple of more days to see it nice and shiny on your (developing) website.

The main features typed up in any word processor will do the trick--no need for the website if there isn't one to view; but that will not help you.

Thank you  Cool

NOTE: Yes, plenty of people will go ahead and blindly sign up through the Google Docs form w/completed requirements. I've seen how many have responded to the Twitter post but why are none asking questions here--ask yourself? Most of them will be glad to accept any airdrops without otherwise participating or purchasing any although this can be one way to build up a user base.

Very happy Vote Central is now up and running.
I got registered and voted on now two proposals, completed a few tasks as well... so far all is going good once the registration started going smoothly.

Now I thought I read about DeepOnion having a brand new thread here on BCT?
Is that incorrect or is it still in the works?

At any rate, I thought it would be on an announcement or a redirect right here, I haven't checked the first page yet... I forget what people keep calling that, something like O page?

Ready for brand new anytime.  Cool

Good job everyone on dominating the Twitter polls. DeepOnion is unstoppable.  Grin

Nice to see we beat the ATH today at $12.12.  Cool

Verify the above image with DeepVault:
DnaEKfxsG1G79W4ehcrWxu6FGqgeAAFHTa

A blast from the near past... pretty decent value in Jan 2018. But at least we are higher on the list than many coins developed around the time of DeepOnion or 2-3 years prior.

Never did buy into VERGE, fortunately for the bugs in their code allowing such a miner exploit.

Well at any rate, supposedly according to their Twitter feed there was not a 51% attack but rather a miner exploiting a bug in the code that allowed an unfair mining ratio, low dificulty? and spoofed timestamps, allowing them to mine one block every second for 3 hours.

Verge was not very forthcoming with the details, rather tweeting with a brief statement acknowledging only a brief "hash attack" lasting about 3 hours that had been "cleared up now".

@Brakmic - I hope you got the skinny on the flaw and fix to help guard our blockchain against similar attack! Wink

Android Wallet!

This is really great news and will undoubtedly be used with merchants accepting DeepOnion for sure. I know the iPhone peps are jealous but patiently waiting for one they can use.

So I downloaded app from Goggle Play store link in the DeepOnion community forum announcing that the Android wallet is here, link, and information about it:

It mentions that it uses Orbot, a separately downloadable VPN/TOR app which I already had on my DROID. So just download from app store, no problem and then tried to make sure had working configuration set with Orbit and DeepOnion set for VPN access, and tor bridge type, or no bridge, and never seemed to connect to anything.

Started to think it had not included Android 6 devices, but most all apps do, then checked for and updated the Orbot app I had already installed. Launched the newly updated Orbot first and then DeepOnion mobile wallet, checked options again in Orbot and saw a toggle switch labeled:

Trouble connecting? Use Bridges O [toggle on/off]

A new screen appears when set ‘ON’ (lighted green), where you can select a bridge type or “Connect directly to Tor (Best)”. I tried that setting and also one labeled “Connect through community servers”, in the Orbot app.

Finally, all connected and working Wink

I'm a bit concerned about Brakmic at the forum, is he OK? I know there are some issues with chain forks and wallet upgrades creating some tension but he blew up when I asked for help with the new wallet download in the official wallet thread.

I seriously doubt that Brakmic is upset with you or actually 'blew up' in regards to your asking a question to do with the new wallet via the official thread on DeepOnion community site.

The fact of the matter is they may, or may not, have had to scramble finishing up wallets that they'd been working on already once discovering a potential forking problem which the devs. would like to avert. No one wants a fork or another resulting coin. I think there is still a bit of confusion about the particulars of any eventual fork, but clearly it seems that this can happen spontaneously for various reasons.

The threads posted have been numerous this week especially on the 21st yesterday, and in more than one forum, about 'fork problems' and 'mandatory 1.6.0 wallet upgrades' have made for a copious amount of reading for everyone.  I did see a few replies not solely from Brakmic but also Vass and maybe Deeper, that indicate to member inquires about something explained in detail previously within the same thread (or related thread with a link to other forum) have simply asked people to go back a few pages and use the solution already posted so they do not have to continually repeat themselves while looking out for any new genuine bugs users are discovering launching both the new desktop wallets AND the android wallet.

I thought it very good of Brakmic to participate as much as he did in the forums!

Always great news to hear about another exchange to except and list DeepOnion for worldwide adoption.

I, like some of you, was excited to see a ONION / USD trading pair (as others mentioned they were as well and/or ONION / EUR trading pair). However if you try and login, or just follow the link, you can't get past the initial landing page to read the terms for registration... if from a blocked country; maybe something VPN/Tor browser will help with if the KYC is non-conforming.

Upon receiving this message, after clicking the link in the floating header announcing the exchange on DeepOnion, (the screenshot below),

I proceeded to their BitcoinTalk page and a few posts down someone asked about listing the countries not eligible for participation.

Tried to reach the site but it gave me this Russian phrase

Quote
Не доступно на территории вашей страны

Got that into google translate and it translated to "not available in your country".

Could you please list the excluded countries that you don't service in your OP so that it is clear to people whether they can use your service or not?
Honestly, the low deposits and withdrawals for fiat looks very very good and i would love to have used your exchange, but unfortunately i'm
assuming due to regulatory concerns, i cannot.

Well, sounds reasonable. We will add a list of countries in which the exchange is not available.
Thanks for a good question!  Wink

Oh well, I thought this might be a good one to try out but I'm out of luck here. So much for him posting on the site about the countries in which the exchange is not available, yeah right.

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] «Envion» Most Profitable Self-Expanding Crypto Infrastructure on: March 14, 2018, 06:16:37 AM

Envion investor update March 8th, 2018
Big update today for all of our investors old and new.

The envion team has been hard at work collaborating with our production facility on our mass-production line and pre-installation mining, meeting with potential new customers, and organizing the process for dividend distribution.

Production
The news everyone wants to hear about is MMU production. Things are humming along at our EU production facility where pre-installation mining, container production, and pre-deployment MMU mining will take place.

The pre-installation mining facility is complete and ready for hardware delivery. A dust-free warehouse has been made ready with the power connections necessary for large-scale mining and the hardware racks for the GPUs and ASICs are being completed by the factory production line.

Just to recap, the plan is to install all hardware on the racks and begin mining as soon as hardware arrives. This will allow maximum profits as no mining time will be wasted while the containers are being built. The racks themselves will just be loaded on to the MMU containers as they roll off the production line.

The containers themselves are in production as each section of the mass-production line, which includes both human and robot construction, is optimized and new workers are onboarded and trained for each task.

With the electricity supply and power connections necessary to start mining with finished MMUs in place, MMUs will begin mining on-site as soon as possible before deployment. The factory is capable of hosting up to 70 MMUs with competitive energy prices that assure profitability at every step.

The search for production facilities in the Americas to reduce transport costs — and mining downtime — for customers in North and South America (see below) is underway. The current work done optimizing mass-production at the first factory should lead to even speedier scaling for new factories.

Hardware
Hardware is on the way! Our first order of GPUs have left the factory in Asia and will soon be on a plane heading for our production facility. This initial order of GPU mining machines (not even on the market yet) should arrive in the middle of next week which coincides with when the warehouse, racks, etc. will be ready to receive them. The first orders are small and will be used to create the workflows for pre-installation mining and train workers to accommodate even larger orders which are in the pipeline.

Customers
Envion has 10 EU locations for Proprietary Operations MMUs offering power prices between $.04-$.06 per kw/h. We are currently determining which will get the first batch of MMUs from the factory, but with 50MW of capacity on the table, we expect over 600 MMUs will have a home among these first customers.

Discussion with potential Third Party Operations customers on the other side of the globe are also underway. The total value of the deals under discussion would be in the hundreds of millions of dollars with the first cooperation starting as soon as TPO MMUs roll off the EU production line.

A second production line in North or South America is in discussion to service further projects starting later in the year. Most of the capacity under discussion in the Americas is in North America — Canada and Texas specifically.

These potential customers are offering envion dedicated capacity with competitive electricity rates and are asking for long-term contracts to operate and maintain MMUs purchased via the TPO program. Dedicated capacity and decades-long contracts are a bit different from the types cooperations envion received in the first months of the business and we see this as a huge vote of confidence in our business — especially from publicly traded companies who must answer to shareholders and financiers.

Dividends
Second only to questions about production are questions about dividends. As we said in our last update about dividends, all mining activities will be audited and a report will be published verifying our accounting before any payouts are made. We can now announce that Big Four auditor PWC is our auditing partner.

Now that PWC is onboarded as our auditor, we must first identify and agree on all the relevant costs and metrics associated with mining operations and establish the reporting procedure. After that, PWC will collect data which we will publish for our token holders verifying how dividends are calculated. Dividends will be paid to all wallets holding EVN tokens only after the report is published.

SEC, crypto bank, etc. do things the envion way
Envion has taken a lot of criticism for a long KYC process, waiting for an audit to distribute dividend payments, and a slower pace of news than many in the ICO world are accustom to. While it might be satisfying to get everything you want right now, recent developments in the crypto world are demonstrating the value of taking the time to do things right.

In the USA, the Securities and Exchange Commission has asked that all exchanges register with the SEC and comply with their rigorous financial regulations. While that has sent many investors into a panic, envion is well-positioned to be one of the few coins that could be traded under such circumstances. We’ve already done the hard compliance work and transparency is already part of our business model. Our security token which seemed exotic in 2017 will be one of the only ones trading by the end of 2018.

We hope that these developments show our token holders that our commitment to professionalism is paying off — even when that means asking for a little patience from our token holders. It’s a reminder that value investments can take time to mature, but that it’s time well spent.

Events
Laurent had a great time meeting with ~20 envion investors at the Beverly Hills Blockchain meetup last week. It was nice to talk directly with investors and see some of the faces behind the usernames on Telegram. We look forward to seeing you at more events in the future, starting with the Blockchain Technology Conference tomorrow, March 9th, in Berlin.

Can somebody explain what MEEK actually is and how it compliments DeepOnion?
"Meek the protocol hides Tor-specific entries in data packets...
... (quote abbreviated)
...

Basically it's a protocol to evade internet censorship, where the traffic is relayed through a third-party server that is hard to block and that's why it's very important for people in countries, where to usage of TOR is forbidden.

More info here: https://www.antitree.com/2014/09/07/meek-protocol/ and here https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/meek

We have read about this during the initial announcement of the incorporation of 'MEEK' into one of the DeepOnion wallet packages and I have often wondered if it would help or hinder traffic in countries that may not yet be censoring, so none of the Asian countries but one of the most western countries like the US?

I'm trusting my ISP less and less each day and in fact the government more so who has directed that companies like Twitter, Facebook, large telecommunications companies open their data to them, i.e. Google, Verizon, almost every big common email address providers, phone/cell providers... a few year's back it was AT&T; after it became publicly known that the government was 'spying' by having access to all of your email and other communications, numbers dialed/received.

Anything to protect privacy... I'm all for it!

In the context of stealth addresses, addresses are now composed of two public keys, and the coins sent to Bob will not be sent to his stealth address on the blockchain, rather the stealth address will be used by the sender to produce fresh new bitcoin addresses for every new transaction. These new addresses, even though generated by the sender (Alice) and unknown to Bob until the transaction is made, will nonetheless be controlled by Bob! Here is how it works:

Thanks for the beefy explanation Vaas. I'm currently studying part of this now, but not yet onto stealth addresses.

It seems in general there is a lot of hashing depending on the protocol used, hashing the entire transaction sometimes after first hashing or combining with a large random integer, then also concatenation with either or both where the "+" signs normally represents concatenation or appending one number, or hash, to another and NOT simply adding them together.

I'm still getting down the basics of how different types of transactions are put together, using both cryptographic and mathematical means in order to make the addresses and hash pointers hardened to security breeches as much as possible; so if intercepted they cannot be spent without knowing the private key.

That is my understanding in much more basic terms.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZClassic on: March 02, 2018, 02:44:31 PM
Everyone is saying that ZCL is dead but I think its kinda soon to say that. We all know that people bought it for the Bitcoin Private airdrop (see signature), but I dont see why it cant benefit from the privacy trend like the rest of them.

I def think thst BTCP will be big tho. What do you all think?

ZCL just pump because of the hardfork well right now it's the hardfork was already done and we already saw the massive dump on $ZCL. It will go back around 11k or 12k sats price of ZCL and that's the perfect time to buy it again. Well if you are on loss just HODL and wait for it until it goes bull again sad to say when can know when it happen again.

It may not recover to values it has hit in the past and hasn't even been around all that long as Zclassic resulted out of a fork of Zcash; but it is still being maintained and is mineable, I believe even with CPU alone as well as GPUs, so there still is residual value ongoing. How much will it recover... who knows, I just hope it does. Neither does anyone know what the market value of Bitcoin Private will be.

I was betting that although Zclassic was more than I wanted to spend, at just over $100 when I bought 4.2 coins, that even if it dropped back to the $50-60 range that with the gained equal amount of Bitcoin Private that I would at least break even... or would once BTCP establishes itself in the market (and I still can if it takes off fairly quickly and Zclassic bounces back 30-40%).
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zclassic Price Soars to Record High of $128 as other Markets Continue to Stumble on: March 02, 2018, 10:42:41 AM
Currently, with all the leading digital currency markets suffering from small to medium losses, there is nothing much to be fascinated as par now. ZClassic is now making headlines though it lies down the list of crypto.  ZClassic has managed to hit a price of over $128.5, which represents 10% of the increment margin. It is a fascinating development considering that the markets are not in a good state now.

Read more here: http://bit.ly/2oy6VTv

There is a very good reason for that, which you posted only 3 days ago, and yesterday 28 FEB, 2018, was the deadline to obtain more Bitcoin or Zclassic, to be eligible for an equal amount of the new Bitcoin Private resulting from a fork happening likely tomorrow.

oops, can't post an image yet... There's a good graphic and all the explanation of how it will work and who is eligible to receive the new coin, Bitcoin Private, on the website: https://btcprivate.org/
The Zclassic website has a link to the same fork information on the Bitcoin Private site.

The snapshot to prove you had owned a specific amount of each of BTC and/or ZCL took place at 5pm UTC time, approximately as it was tied to a certain block creation, and that is why the price spiked from near $65.00 to $128; way less expensive than one BTC. The ATH (all time high) was just over $247 per Zclassic on January 7,  2018, likely after many more people had heard about the fork and opportunity to get some BTCP for free.

The fork is to occur about 2 days after the snapshot, and people were scrambling to buy Zclassic and also move any already owned to a wallet or an exchange that specifically is supporting this fork by means of helping to ensure that those hodling will receive the 1:1 ratio of Bitcoin Private (BTCP) to Bitcoin/Zclassic owned.

So Zclassic value was bouncing around between roughly $75-$190 most of February, then started a downward slope 19 Feb-24 Feb from $198 to $98 per coin. Just over 2 days prior to the fork, on 25 Feb, it climbed to $134 and wound up around $118 just around the time of the 'snapshot', after which it immediately took a severe dive (weak hands) on the 28th to about $28, and now around $10. I know there will be a lengthy thread about this somewhere as many people still hodling Zclassic aren't likely happy about this and at the same time I did watch a video by a well known You Tube blogger suggesting that he might sell prior to the fork, just after the snapshot... while I was under the impression one needed to still have the Zclassic and/or Bitcoin in supported wallet, or exchange, through the snapshot and the fork.

Anyway there you have it after the fact. Some guessed right about selling off their Zclassic maybe, but they literally dumped it to the point it has hurt the overall value for now.

The following is from the Bitcoin Private website, for info/educational purposes only:

What is a hard fork?
A hard fork is when a single cryptocurrency splits in two. It occurs when a cryptocurrency’s existing code is changed, resulting in both an old and new version. This case is somewhat unique, whereby ZCL and BTC will be co-forked into Bitcoin Private (BTCP).

When is the hard fork?
Snapshot date: February 28th, 2018.
Fork Date & Mainnet Launch: Approximately 2 days later.

How do I receive BTCP?
When the hard fork occurs, a snapshot of all existing ZCL and BTC holdings will occur. Anyone holding ZCL or BTC in a wallet or supported exchange will be credited Bitcoin Private (BTCP) at a 1:1 ratio. For example, if you hold 15.4 ZCL and 0.1 BTC, you will receive 15.5 BTCP.

99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash vs new Bitcoin Private (Forks) on: February 13, 2018, 08:30:06 PM

If not airdrop like "airdrops" you still need to hold bitcoin or zclasic coin to have bitcoin private. But the ratio is not fair i guess since the bitcoin price is higher that zclassic why bitcoin holder still get 1:1 ratio ? i hold 1 bitcoin worth of 7k usd and i get 1 btcprivate and i hold 1 zcl worth of 100 and get 1:1 ratio too. So i just need to hold Zcl right ?

Yes, you are correct. If you did not have any Bitcoin but you have Zclassic, you will receive 1:1 ratio (for either Bitcoin and/or Zclassic), but make sure to go look on Zclassic site and maybe use on of there wallets just to be sure. They developed wallet just for this purpose to ensure coins there will be matched with equal amount of Bitcoin Private.

It is an uneven ratio if you are comparing value of those two coins, at least what the value has been, but it is an unusual fork because it is not a split off of the main blockchain it is actually a merge of two different existing chains, BTC and Zclassic into a single new & hopefully improved blockchain.

And know one knows how the market will react... one of them may not keep the value in favor of another.

how do you think about bcd? bcd is good? isee bcd don't allow withdrawn from any exchange,i has just bought some bcd

I really don't know anything about that coin, and part of the very last paragraph was emphasizing how many different Bitcoin varieties there seems to be... it's kind of ridiculous. Again they are not, but some may be, shoots from some of the same developers of Bitcoin. Definitely if there's a fork it seems the same devs must have decided to create a new coin due to an eminent or planned fork.

So you are referring to Bitcoin Diamond (BCD), I just searched on coinmarketcap.com. I cannot not really give you financial but if you bought it recently or during the slump in January, I would tend to hodl and maybe use to exchange for something else if market price goes up... hard to tell what will happen with market volatility.

You'd have to do a search and see if you can find out more about it, there was another fork after Bitcoin fork that created Bitcoin Cash... and one or two of the other ones were created, but I have not found a comprehensive timeline of how they evolved thus far (partly because there are feuding developers now between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash (and possibly we'll see about Bitcoin Private).

So far Bitcoin (BTC), called by some now 'core Bitcoin' or 'Bitcoin core', and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are far more retain far more value than any of the minor Bitcoin variants.

Okay, here's the website for Bitcoin Diamond, apparently forked by 2 miners unhappy with how unusable Bitcoin had become as far as a currency to transact with, clogging up the blockchain and requiring huge fees. It is a result of a fork in November. Good luck.

http://btcd.io/ - They actually have a chart up on the site with Bitcoin forks from last year, four of them.
