81  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying btc online with creit or debit cards on: July 23, 2014, 08:45:18 AM
Being that the customer will always have the option of charging back after they get the coin, I dont think its a great idea. I mean I would love to be able to buy coin with a cc like a paypal debit would be great. But the risk you would take as a seller I dont think your profits would outweigh the risks IMO
82  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any auction sites like what bitmit used to be? on: July 23, 2014, 06:59:02 AM
Yes, it has a built in escrow service. I recommend it.

that galaxy s3 on the site is a pretty good bargain. brand new for $200, wtf m8? you can't get one for that price on craigslist or ebay..
I've gotten a few good deals on cryptothrift. You'd think with the escrow it would be way more popular than it currently is.

It could be that maybe people think the escrow is automatically released or something. I think the system is great but before I completed my first sale I was a bit confused as to how it was all going to go. Once I understood that I have the release escrow button it made me feel alot more secure about another purchase.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long until bots can profitably guess private keys? on: July 23, 2014, 06:55:12 AM
From what I understand and I could be wrong. The security is several times stronger then typical bank encryption. I don't think we will be around to see such a thing.
84  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: WTS pbmining account at very cheap on: July 23, 2014, 12:16:06 AM
Why are you not selling it under your senior member account then? We have to evaluate with what information we have and this is what we know.

You say you have a senior member acct but decided not to post here so it could be a banned acct and you can't post with it. Or maybe you plan to take the pbmining acct back at some point and you don't want your senior member acct getting -trust so you do not want it associated with this deal. I think you can sell this at a fair price but if you have no risk then in it, don't expect to get a decent offer.
85  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any auction sites like what bitmit used to be? on: July 23, 2014, 12:04:54 AM
I have made 2 purchases on cryptothrift and the service is pretty good. I recommend if you are buying steam games to hold the coin in escrow for a week after you received the code to make sure it wasn't bought with a stolen cc. Even after that it still has a chance to being fraud but the risk is lower i think,
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Anonymity so important to you? on: July 22, 2014, 03:11:24 AM
Although I don;t think Bitcoin is all that anonymous. With all the prying eyes in the NSA I prefer my transactions to be private. They have no business knowing what I do with my money. I also have the freedom of not having to answer any questions about where I got my money, did I pay tax, how much I deposit or withdraw. Almost no fees to move around money. Bitcoin to me is freedom to won wealth without having to explain it.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting porn sites to accept bitcoin on: July 22, 2014, 02:21:16 AM
I think at this will be available soon. Age verification could be an issue but as it is now a simple vcc can solve that so I don't think it would be much different.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners Say They Vote Libertarian on: July 20, 2014, 03:07:09 AM

Then there is the fact that the Bill of rights was written in the 1700s, and just like Motorized cars, Semi-Automatic guns and Assault Rifles did not exist back then. They had horse drawn carts, and single fire muskets. We make people get licenses to drive a car, why not to shoot an assault rifle?

Just some random things that are not really a big deal as far as infringing on rights. Since these things are not normal situations.
Since the 2nd amendment was written so long ago and the founders could have never imagined that more technological weapons could be created. Would you also agree that the first amendment is also outdated? Since at the time freedom of press refereed to the printing press and not the internet and Television.

You see I am a firm believer that our founding fathers never had any intention of promising or guaranteeing  security, or safety. If they did wouldn't it have been in the bill of rights? What they did promise was freedom and liberty and the overreaching gun control that is touted over and over is neither IMO.

I personally feel that the problem is not guns at all. I feel it is the lack of mental hospitals and treatment facilities. Take a look and see how many of these have closed over the last 20 years. Its hundreds if not thousands. Did they think that closing them was just going to solve the issue of mental illness? Nope but they know that the damage these people do in public costs less money then to institutionalize them. I will leave you with this. Think about all those hospitals that closed down. I can name 5 just in NY. Where did all the patients go? They didn't just get better
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people have received random .00000001 transactions to their wallets? on: July 20, 2014, 02:47:56 AM
This has happened to be about 3 times. I imagine it is from a address I left on my sig or something. When it happens I almost wish I could reply to the payment and say Hey Thanks Smiley
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners Say They Vote Libertarian on: July 19, 2014, 10:26:09 PM

They just have to realize, guns AND safety, Marijuana AND Pharmaceuticals, etc

Can you elaborate on the first part here. There is a line where your "safety" infringes on my rights to keep and bear arms. I am not saying that gun safety programs like maybe free classes on how to secure, load, carry, use your firearm but to call things like NYS safe act a gun safety program is laughable. Where exactly were you going with that statement?

Is this from your company, or is it one you bought and are trying to get some money back?
92  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SLOOOOWWWWWWWWWW btc today on: July 19, 2014, 07:14:52 PM
I have had high priority transactions sitting for 2 full hours for 6 confirms. 4 in 30 mins is not out of the ordinary. Was the fee included at least .0001?
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Could the US government gain control of Bitcoin? on: July 19, 2014, 10:48:14 AM
This has been eating at me so I figured I would ask you all what you think about this. I don't know if this has been talked about before and if so Im sorry.

We all know the government is actively watching bitcoin emerge as a legitimate currency source. I'm sure they are in talks about it behind closed doors. Which we would know to lead to think tanks about regulation. What if the government was planning to mine a large portion of the coin themselves. Im not talking about buying a room full of 6th miners. Im talking about them using something like these NSA datacenters. Building their own high tech hardware that would put our best miners to shame. Would it be possible for the government to miner a large enough portion of the wealth that they would hold  controlling interest?
94  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to Bitcoin need rig for college (don't pay electricity fee) on: July 19, 2014, 08:21:19 AM
Honestly mining is a rough business because of difficulty and electricity but if you are not going to be paying for electric, you will be essentially robbing your college. You may not be directly paying for the electric but someone is. You may just have a higher tuition next year, and if others have the same idea it could be a significant increase. It wont be long until places start to wake up and put kilawatt meters on apartments, dorm rooms, and other lease space. I know if I rented out a place and planned on including rent it would have a kilowatt per month limitation. I don't think its right but good luck with your mining.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need Bitcoin? on: July 19, 2014, 08:11:54 AM
For me I need bitcoin. It kills me to put money in a bank that is going to charge me a monthly fee for them to take my money and lend it out to people, collect interest on it and only give me a fraction of what they collect. Not to mention all the other upfrint and hidden fees they pile on. So do I need bitcoin?.... My answer is YES... YES I DO
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners Say They Vote Libertarian on: July 19, 2014, 08:06:44 AM
Well they can't lump us all in one basket because I would be an exception to the rule. I consider myself a libertarian but I tend to lean right on 80% of issues and the other 20% I stay centered. It is an extremely rare occasion if I think the left is on point. I also think that as I have gotten older I have become more and more conservative.
97  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Master Public Key and Addresses on: July 19, 2014, 07:57:17 AM
I watched this video series and if you do the same you will understand exactly how electrum works. The Master private key on a wallet that has no private key attached. Check out the video he explains it really well.

98  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Generator? on: July 19, 2014, 07:53:44 AM
It is so hard to feel bad for people that see these things and say "oh yea here we go baby". They say that a sucker is born every minute I find that to be true. I have seen it multiple times and even on this forum.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: theoretically there are 21 mil btcs, in reality, many bitcoins are lost on: July 19, 2014, 07:49:52 AM
Personally I think the more bitcoin that gets lost the higher the value should go. I say this because there is less to go around. If we are all sharing a piece of big pie that has 19million slices it is certainly worth more then the same pie that has 21million slices.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now accepts bitcoin! on: July 18, 2014, 10:46:12 PM
I am not a dell fan but this is good news for bitcoin. The more retailers that accept it, the higher the price will go. If we can get ebay to start taking it (I doubt it) we will be well on our way to long term success.
