Major fork for a major currency on this pool and nobody even knows.  Nothing posted on the pool site for goodness sake.  Cry

I want to mine XMR at MPH.  When the fork happens in 24 hours how is the pool going to handle that?

Will you have both MoneroV and Monero7 available to mine?  Will there be notice of the update?  I see nothing posted on the News section.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto is dead because credit card companies stop crypto purchases on: April 05, 2018, 02:57:27 AM
Mining and holding is a taxable event.

The ONLY way you avoid paying taxes is on a buy and hold.  End of story.

And that does you about zero good because sooner or later you sell for a profit ideally.  Taxable event.

Selling for a loss decreases taxable liability.  But who is in this to sell for a loss?

Oh Jesus Christ.  Give me a break.

You can't buy lotto tickets with a credit card but the lottery takes in plenty of money.  While I don't agree with card issuers having this rule in place it is a minor thing.  And it is their business to run how they see fit.

I was pissed when I couldn't buy lotto tickets (stocking stuffers for xmas) with my credit card because the bad apples got to ruin it for everyone else apparently.  So I dealt with it and paid cash.  Whoopty doo.

Digital FUD Lord at it again eh?

Him and Metroid really need to adjust that attitude. Much negative waves. Much whine.

I have 2.5.1 xmrig now which is supposed to be ready for the fork.

Will there be an updated wallet released on April 6th @ getmonero.org?

I want to start mining monero after the fork.  Thank you

I'd like to prepare for this. I have xmrig and a couple Ryzen cpu I'd like to use for it after the fork.

When it forks where do I go to get the wallet and what is the fork going to be called?
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining low difficulty coins to hold instead of mining most profitable coins on: March 24, 2018, 02:33:06 PM
This is absolutely correct.  I don't understand why so many miners struggle with this concept.  The only exception to this rule is if the coin you wish to speculate on is not listed on any exchanges.
If the idea is to mine the most profitable coin then turn around and sell it for something else that you want to speculate on that makes a certain amount of sense.  Since you can buy more that way.

The spanner that gets thrown into that is the short term capital gains tax you're paying on all of that selling and buying.  Can put a nasty little dent in that.  Of course if you don't mind tax evasion then ignore what i just said.  Good luck.

Digital FUD Lord  Undecided

C'mon guy.  You're so negative.  Yah the markets down.  Investors have fled.  Birds fly south and sometimes they come back.  If you can't take the heat then get outta the kitchen.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: March 20, 2018, 12:53:22 PM
Nowinstock shows cards coming in and staying in stock the next step is for that to continue and then as buyers stop paying the higher prices they will eventually come down.  I suspect it will be a while as in 2-3 weeks before we get to that point.  If the market has a big run up again though that may change things.

Used cards and rigs coming up for sale as more people liquidate.  I suspect a lot of those people got in to mining December/January and are now trying to get out in a hurry since they foolishly assumed the market would stay way up like it was.  And some of them owe debts on their equipment.

Thanks does it normally take quite a while for the transaction to post?  It's been a couple hours and the source wallet still shows the same balance.

There were no errors when I initiated the transaction (of 10 coins) however it did tell me something about it being delayed by a block with the fee I was paying.  Not sure on the exact wording.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LAUNCHED][POW]⚡ELECTRONEUM⚡Official Moderated Thread on: March 14, 2018, 06:29:47 PM
There is a sweep_all command you can use to transfer the full balance.

sweep_all [ring_size] address [payment_id] - Send all unlocked balance to an address

What is ring size?  Where do I get payment ID?  Do I need to use brackets in the command?

I'm sorry you're dealing with a noob here. I don't know much about the command line wallets beyond guides that walk you through step by step.

Thanks

Hi.  I have a paper wallet imported into electroneum-cli.  I have a second paper wallet imported into electroneum-cli on another pc.  Is there a way to transfer directly between these two?  I'm not sure what syntax I need to use for this.

I want to send the entire balance from one to the other.

I had a similar issue from mining on the wrong fork after v4 came out.

Save/backup your wallet.dat file.
Delete everything in the LUX folder.
Start the wallet up and let it sync.  You can try a newer bootstrap if you want.  Or let it sync over a couple days.
After the wallet catches up completely close it.
Replace the wallet.dat file in the LUX folder with your wallet.

See if that takes care of it.

Hi.  I am using the windows cli wallet right now.

I went to the ETN website and I can't seem to access wallets or download an upgraded one.  Are they essentially down right now and not making a wallet available?

I can continue to use this one however it may be compromised and I want to setup another separate wallet and sweep this one.

Interestingly enough.  The ccminer-phi client seems to work better with xmrig vs. spmod.  ccminer-phi takes no hash rate hit from xmrig running.

Unfortunately ccminer-phi doesn't like the settings I was using with spmod and the rig is now unstable.  Been spending most of my morning trying to get it running without crashing and had to power cycle 3x already.  Adjusted intensity down and clocks which sucks because it already hashes less than spmod.

Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose yes?  So bit of an experiment.  I'll see what it settles on and if it's worth ditching this and going back to spmod.

I am cpu mining etn with xmrig and a Ryzen 1600x.  Six GPU rig mining lux.  I am losing 5-6 mh/s with the cpu miner running. Is there anything I can do to help this?

If you think the business world is just gonna sit and watch us make ROI >1 year and not jump in, you are in for a wakeup call.

My 2cents. I'm sure you will absolutely slaugther me, but wanted to share my thoughts.
All valid concerns and probably how this will continue to go.  Though there is some element of chance or difficulty in knowing exactly what will happen.  I am continuing on with the equipment I have and while it's a fun deal and would be great to build more rigs I have a lack of optimism in the future.  Taking a wait and see approach.

Regardless ROI is even worse if you pay your taxes.  Income and then capital gains for mining/selling takes a big chunk out of anything you earn.  People can frequently get away with not claiming anything on their returns however there is no reason to expect getting away with that will get any easier.  If anything it will be harder.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / bitcoin tax support - can't import on: March 03, 2018, 03:45:53 PM
Does anyone here in the US use bitcoin.tax?  Their support is email only and slow to non-existent.

I am trying to get this thing to import mining income and it won't work.  Tried exporting directly from the wallet (LUX) and the CSV isn't accepted.  This is under Income tab and choosing Core.

I've also tried CSV and can't get it to work.  The software doesn't support importing directly from the LUX address either.

What is the trick to this or is it just more trouble than it's worth?  Trying to avoid having to calculate USD value for each payout manually in my spreadsheet.

Thanks

If you have good credit, I would buy mining equipment with credit cards (find one with 0% interest for 24+ months) and use that card for your mining expenses. I get as many reward points as I can this way.

That is like me having 3 jobs at that point.

1. main job that I would not quit
2. mining (5 rigs and will continue to grow)
3. reward points paying for vacations or other fun things I wanna do (I am not paying anything really from my own bank account at that point)

All this can be done and if you did it the right way (paying off each month).
Absolutely correct THIS is just fine.

Did morons even read the critical last part of this post before responding?  He's PAYING IT OFF EACH MONTH.  Therefore, not going into debt to fund this.

Putting expenses on credit cards and then paying them off monthly to get the rewards is one of the smarter things you can do to maximize savings.  He's got this figured out.
