81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You will burn on: February 17, 2024, 10:55:42 PM
Altcoin investments have always been riskier. Choosing the right one among thousands of coins requires serious research. You also need luck on your side. The mind-boggling gains on some altcoins naturally attract gamblers. Those who buy coins not with the mentality of making a smart long-term investment, but with the aim of making a quick buck in a short period of time, often don't realize that they are taking a big gamble. It's hard for them to realize how rare altcoin stories that make people rich in a short time are. In such a market, Bitcoin will always remain a safe haven.
82  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 12, 2024, 06:32:13 AM
48 push-ups as a starting point? That's a pretty intense starting point for a lot of people and  more like an ouch-ing point, am I right? If you've been out of practice with exercise for awhile, jumping into that many reps is just asking for injury or frustration, which would suck.  Many of us are long past our 30s, you know?

I'm into pushing limits too dont get me wrong.  But taking baby steps is smart if we want to actually stick with something long-term.   It should be about sustainable, personal growth and not proving anything to anyone else.  Incremental progress is rad.

I think you missed the whole point of the post. Last time I checked 48 (a representative figure as BTC price) was smaller than 100 (as OP stated). For someone who has 30+ years of sports background and hasn't worked out for a while, it's normal to start with 12x4 sets after a 1-week warm-up period. I don't understand why you are surprised by this. Everyone's fitness program is different. Some do 4 push-ups, some do 400. The important thing is not how many push-ups you do, but the intention.
83  Other / Meta / Re: About the post count on: February 11, 2024, 06:01:10 AM
Post count and activity are two different things. You can make unlimited posts and increase your number but you can only get 14 activity points every 14 days. It starts from zero together but at one point your post count will pass your activity if you post regularly (If you make more than 1 post daily).

I think one of the reasons why this is constantly confused by new members may be that the post count is not shown by the forum when you first become a member. In fact, I've seen many members who have been on this forum for years and don't know how to open the post count.

84  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 11, 2024, 05:49:01 AM
I think it's a challenge that everyone should do, I'm in! For those who haven't done push-ups for a long time, start with smaller numbers. For example, you can start with 48. Then it can be increased to 100 and 400. This is not really difficult, it can be done as 200 in the morning and 200 in the evening. When you feel the difference, you realize it's worth it.
I don't think this challenge will last long. We have to gain as soon as possible. Wink
85  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: February 10, 2024, 06:16:24 PM
I think Bellingham's goal is the sign that Real Madrid will be the champion. If Girona couldn't make a comeback from here, every advantage will be on Real's side. Besides point difference they will get the psychological superiority which is more important at this point. Barca could've closed the 5 point gap, but Girona don't have that experience, culture, background or strength.
86  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 08, 2024, 02:36:54 AM
Scottie Barnes and Trae Young are picked for All-Star game. They replace injured players Julius Randle and Joel Embiid.
Speaking of Scottie Barnes, look at that shot: https://twitter.com/WinkyChrist/status/1755415488132419586

Watching Sixers - Warriors game, first half was balanced but Warriors made 20 points difference in third quarter and close to win the game. Jaden Springer locked Curry in first half. It was first time since 2018 Curry couldn't score from the field in a half.
87  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: February 07, 2024, 02:07:52 AM
I think the declining use of Twitter has little to do with Elon Musk. Twitter was already an outdated social media application. Writing in 140 characters wasn't a genius idea. I can even say that it became too popular. But now that new ones are more popular instead, it has started to be forgotten. It's now fashionable among the new generation to shoot videos, not to text, so Tiktok blew. Instagram and Facebook even Youtube are turning to short videos. It doesn't appeal to me, but young people like them.
88  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 03, 2024, 11:54:16 PM
Sixers is having a hard time without Embiid. They are already down to 25 against Nets. It looks like an early accepted loss today.
Luckily we got one more game on TV tonight. Lakers at Knicks, this should be a fun game. Knicks is going great lately, they have 9 games win streak. Randle is out unfortunately, but Brunson is boosting his stats. I wonder if Lakers can stop them. I saw LeBron's trade speculations, I don't think it's related but he's still questionable in injury report. AD is same (for injury, not trade) as well.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin in a Cashless Society on: February 03, 2024, 11:13:22 PM
Imagine a world where your grandma pays for cookies with BTC - wild, right?

Cash hasn't been used for a long time, everyone uses credit cards. The emergence of Bitcoin has nothing to do with going cashless. Whether Bitcoin is invented or not, this was going to happen anyway. The idea of using Bitcoin for micro-transactions is long gone, the expectation for it has diminished. Maybe other crypto-currencies will fill the gap in this area, but I think Bitcoin's main goal is to replace gold and lead as a store of value rather than to replace cash.
90  Other / Meta / Re: If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it? on: February 02, 2024, 04:01:01 AM
First of all Satoshi doesn't need to go back and prove himself.
"Besides opening one of the wallets" no matter what you do I wouldn't believe you are Satoshi. Even if you could sign a message I still wouldn't believe it. You may have his keys but not his identity. I believe Satoshi is long dead, his legacy will forever live.
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 02, 2024, 03:34:14 AM
That was an impressive win by Lakers without Bron and AD. Austin Reaves led his team one more time. Brown and Tatum were cold, Celtics played awful as a team and they have the right to play like that sometimes. This is a regular season game after all. Betting conspiracy theorists are already writing about this match though. Grin
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon "Satoshi will come back and erase bitcoin" on: January 28, 2024, 11:56:50 PM
I can't tell if this guy is pretending to be stupid, if he thinks he can fool people, or if he is really very ignorant. Since he is the CEO of JPMorgan, it's unlikely that he is ignorant or stupid, so the only thing left is that he thinks he can fool people. It's hard to understand why such a high-profile person would make statements like this. I'm not sure if it's an attempt to get in the spotlight, a desire to mislead people, or a planned attack on Bitcoin. Either way, this guy is not to be taken seriously. We've understood this.
93  Local / Konu Dışı / Re: Avustralya Açık 2024 on: January 28, 2024, 11:08:23 PM
Bir turnuvayı daha geride bıraktık.
Djokovic'i eleyen Sinner bu turnuvayı kazanmayı hak etmişti. Medvedev karşısında 2-0 geriden gelerek finali kazanması ayrı bir hikaye oldu.
Tek kadınlarda beklendiği gibi Sabalenka kazandı. Aslında yarı finalde Gauff ile eşleşerek erken final yaptılar diyebiliriz.
Benim açımdan bu turnuva biraz sönük geçti çünkü saat farkından dolayı maçları canlı izleyemedim. Sıradaki Grand Slamleri takip etmek daha kolay olacak. Smiley
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 28, 2024, 10:58:04 PM
More money is needed at a younger age. When we are young, we may want to buy many things or there may be more things we want to do. Even if we cannot achieve all of these in the time we want, we try to achieve a certain part of them. In addition to all these wishes, investing in the future is also extremely important because we need to invest in our future in order to live a comfortable life as we get older.

Investing in our future and giving up doing some things today requires sacrifice. People who can make this sacrifice usually achieve their goals. Nothing is easy and it doesn't have to be easy. That's why we need to strive and sacrifice to achieve our goals.

I agree with your view that savings protect people from many dangers. Savings also protects us from many unnecessary things. In this way, saving can provide us with the opportunity to take advantage of the opportunities that come our way.

When you are young, you need money more. That's a fact. Especially if there is no family wealth, it's much more difficult to achieve things. Creating your own capital and living as an independent individual at the same time is an uphill struggle. This is especially difficult for young people living in countries like ours. If one can raise money to invest after meeting basic living needs, they should definitely do so. Both for their own future and for their family. The best part of investing is staying away from bad habits. Instead of wasting money on alcohol, drugs or gambling, saving and investing into stocks and crypto-currencies for yourself is the biggest favor a young person can do for themselves. In the long run, they will see that they have made a very good savings.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Want To Invest Money From My Inheritance In Bitcoin, But? on: January 28, 2024, 02:07:18 AM
As most people pointed out, that's not a good idea. If they are really keen on investing into Bitcoin you can show them the way. You can tell them which wallet to use, how to keep it safe. I don't know how close you and your family are, but based on my experience I don't think it's right to keep coins in someone else's name. Don't be responsible for that, things may not go as planned.
96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 28, 2024, 01:46:47 AM
luca doncic fantastic performance is able to score more than 70 points. maybe if you play in the right team doncic will easily win the NBA. for example boston celtic or buck. currently it may be one of the candidates to win the regular MVP. but if you bring dalas maverick to become a champion I think it's still difficult, maverick's squad is still not competitive to be able to become a champion

73 points performance is impressive. Dončić is one of the best players in the NBA but currently Embiid is ahead of him for regular season MVP race. Philly also has a better record, Mavs is in 8th spot, they are not even in play-off picture right now. Mavs has a good roster but good is not enough to win championship. They got Dončić and Kyrie but side pieces are kinda mid.

Knicks just won 6 in a row. They play confident at MSG. They can extend this series because five of next 6 games will be at home as well.
It was a very strange ending. Brooklyn choked in the last quarter in a game they could've won comfortably and the Rockets almost won the game, but they didn't make the most of their last chances. They didn't take advantage of their chances a couple of times. Both teams are fighting for a play-in spot, but it doesn't look easy. Coaches have been fired recently and Jacque Vaughn's place is not secure.
97  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 27, 2024, 03:43:03 AM
Djokovic's loss was unexpected, but let such a superstar have the luxury of losing a few matches in his career, right? I think it's the first time he lost in the semifinals at the Australian Open. I was expecting Djokovic and Medvedev in the final. Djokovic didn't make it but Medvedev came from 2-0 down to reach the final. I think he deserves the tournament. I won't be upset if Sinner also wins, another young and successful tennis player is coming to the big leagues. We will be watching them for a long time after the Big 3 quit, so we need to get used to these finals.
98  Other / Meta / Re: cls63 Merit Source Application on: January 27, 2024, 03:30:07 AM
CLS63 would be a good addition to merit sources. For the last few years I've been trying to encourage people to drop merit source application, but nobody wanted to do it. It's exhausting to be the sole source in the whole local section, all the other sources have quit or started to distribute merits rare. There are a lot of posts in the local section but very few merit distributions. The number of regular members distributing is also few. Merit earners are reluctant to use what they have. We can't force anyone to use their sMerits, but this kind of behavior affects the overall circulation. If Theymos decides to add new sources, I believe both CLS63 and xzone will be sources and I support them.
99  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the btc price reach 100k ? on: January 27, 2024, 03:18:16 AM
It will eventually reach 100k but honestly I was expecting that in previous bull run and that didn't happen. I think we will see 6 digits this year or next year. After Halving, costs for miners will increase and naturally the price will have to go up. After the introduction of ETFs, the Bitcoin price has become more vulnerable to manipulation. Don't fall for such tricks and give away your precious coins cheaply. I always think about Bitcoin investment in the long term. For short-term trading, Bitcoin risk/reward ratio seems too low for me. If you think of Bitcoin like a private pension fund and make an investment plan for 5-10-20 years, instant price changes wouldn't concern you much.
100  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: January 27, 2024, 03:07:39 AM
I have heard about the inflation going on in Turkey, thought I am not sure neither of the cause of that inflation nor the magnitude of that inflation. Is it as bad as it was here in Venezuela?
Because during the worst times of the inflationary period here in my country, it was common to see the prices of the food and other goods to double in a week. I am talking about inflation of 800-1000% in a single month. During those times people also had to resort or buying USD in cash it holding some cryptocurrency for the safe of their savings and personal economy.

Also, if you are actually interested into buying real state then you better monitor the behavior of the price of those houses, I would even speculate that it is likely it would be necessary for the inflation to slow down before the price of the properties to get down, obviously people won't easily get rid of their property if their local currency does not have as much strength as before.

Do you live in Venezuela? No, we have high inflation but not crazy numbers like Venezuela. At the moment there is a controlled rise on the prices, there is no hyperinflation. Nevertheless, for a developed country like ours these are high figures and the cost of living is being seriously felt. At the moment the rate of increase in the dollar exchange rate is slow, but there is uncertainty because there will be elections in the country in two months. After the elections, the dollar exchange rate is expected to rise along with inflation. I don't think we will experience hyperinflation, but I don't think they will be able to stop the devaluation of our currency day by day as well. In such an environment, it wouldn't make sense to stay in TRY. That's why people keep their money in crypto-currencies and USD or physical gold.
