81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MOON] Mooncoin 🌙 32885+ funded addresses. LTC, then DOGE, then MOON! on: June 04, 2017, 07:02:25 PM
So, it's been so long I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure when Mooncoin first released it didn't have a wallet, correct? I found my old mooncoin folder, but there's no wallet and the miner .bat is pointing toward a multipool.us address. Do those old multipool collections still exist? It won't let me log in with the username I have in my .bat file. I'm going to be depressed if I had a ton of old Mooncoin but it was eaten by multipool lol. Sad
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would be the next 3 most promising ICOs? on: June 03, 2017, 10:14:13 PM
1) Coindash
2) Bancor

3) CoinDash

1) Status

Bancor, Status, and CoinDash for me. All 3 focus on lowering the barrier of entry to the crypto world and providing more tools/information for educated decisions. I could see myself using all of the above for my daily crypto needs as well (so even if their tokens never appreciate, I can see myself using my tokens in each ecosystem anyway). Unless Ethereum fails, I don't see how any of them could be bad investments IMO.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum, Vitalik and Vladimir putin ? on: June 03, 2017, 10:09:06 PM
A big problem is you can't really safely create crypto solutions in the West. If I was to make the next Ethereum (or even just a very successful project on the ETH chain) I'd be subject to tons of laws/regulations and my project would be strangled. There's a reason why most of the crypto scene move their projects to Zug or Russia.  Undecided
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stratis speculation on: June 03, 2017, 09:44:04 PM
Lets say I was interested in getting some STRAT. All I have is ETH on Coinbase. What would be the cheapest method of turning my ETH into STRAT?

ETH (Coinbase) > ETH (Poloniex) > ETH/BTC > BTC/STRAT Huh

I've seen that there's a service called Changelly but the reviews don't seem so great.

I'm asking for a friend, of course...  Roll Eyes
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DGB] Digibitye to 1$?!?! on: June 03, 2017, 09:34:55 PM
A Minecraft server accepting DGB isn't a "game" accepting it (servers are run by individuals, not the developer). Honestly I think there's just a lot of dumb money in the market right now and experienced traders are just taking advantage of it. There's really no reason for there to be any hype around DGB because of this. If I made my own coin, released it tomorrow, and made a deal with some random Minecraft server to use it as their currency, would my coin skyrocket too?
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Am I the only one who thinks markets are behaving strange right now? on: June 03, 2017, 09:21:10 PM
Yeah it's a scary time for speculation currently. It seems a lot of the market momentum has shifted to a few previously dormant currencies which has caused a massive pump on some of them. Most of the experienced traders will know how long to stay in the game and when they dump to get back into the main currencies there will be a lot of bag holders. I would personally only invest in projects you actually have faith in (promising future), rather than just investing in something you think is "undervalued" to make a quick buck.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: There are absolutely no good values out there anymore on: June 03, 2017, 08:41:01 PM
If you're looking to get your feet wet right now I'd stick with the main players (BTC, ETH, etc.). Stratis has a chance to do decently well (although I don't personally believe it'll ever overtake the top projects). NEM seems like it's performed well for months now. etc.

If you're looking for the next 1000x return, who knows. If everyone "knew", 1000x returns wouldn't be possible (everyone would jump in right away and then the price would stabilize).

Your best bet is to invest in projects that you like (you feel like they address current issues of mass adoption, financial/economic stability, privacy, etc.). If they truly revolutionize one of those areas, you can bet people will notice and buy into it, rewarding your loyalty.

For instance, as far as new projects I currently have my eye on Bancor (eliminates the need to deal with exchanges and simplifies the process of buying/selling crypto), CoinDash (for those who want to stay in an exchange ecosystem, gives a ton of neat features/tools and seems to provide way more data than currently available), and Status (basically an Ethereum app store with a lot of neat web/chat/social features, will hopefully make it much easier for newcomers to discover everything they need to get started without having to search across 20 different websites/forums).

If I invest in those, it'll be because I want them to succeed, not because I'm looking for a quick profit. If they happen to actually succeed and take off, I'll be rewarded. That's how it should work IMO.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: verge -XVG future price on: June 03, 2017, 08:36:43 PM
Part of me wants to jump in on XVG just in case there is some massive boost to its price someday, but at the same time so many other coins are implementing privacy features (including more popular chains like Ethereum and Stratis) it makes me question what will differentiate XVG in the future? Will it become overshadowed or will it actually outperform the current top dogs?
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Basic Attention Token (BAT) will be a new top coin? on: June 03, 2017, 08:21:39 PM
No. The only reason it made such big news is because of a big name dev behind it and the drama over the ICO. Google has already announced that they're going to implement most of the things that BAT proposed (minus the token gimmick, they don't need it lol).

I think a lot of people just fell for the marketing that there would be huge money in BAT because advertisers with big pockets would buy in. I just don't see that happening. I also don't see mass public adoption of a new browser (I know having Brave isn't a requirement because extensions, but still).

Overall, it might do alright in the market due to speculation, but I definitely don't see it becoming #1 with so many better projects coming out soon.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Cryptocurrencies May 2017 - all major altcoins on: June 03, 2017, 07:15:38 AM
Looks like people are desperate to find blockchain alternatives? A lot of the top are different solutions (rather than being built on an existing platform, like all the Ethereum projects).
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long will cryptomania last? on: June 03, 2017, 07:07:28 AM
There are a lot of big changes coming at the end of this year/beginning of next year. That's about as far into the future as we can see currently. There will be massive swings and then things will settle down until the next big blockchain tech comes around or some big news event happens IMO.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So what is STRAT exactly? on: June 03, 2017, 06:46:40 AM
Stratis is interesting (I like C#), however I feel like it's facing the wrong direction. It's focused on integrating with Bitcoin and trying to get corporate partners onboard (since a lot of corporate businesses code in C#). However, Bitcoin integration may be a waste of time if Ethereum really does take over, and even though corporate support is important, if you aren't working towards mass public adoption you're bound to fail IMO. Nothing about Stratis seems to be focused on ease-of-use for the general public. It seems like they're hoping for their academy thing to handle that for them? The economy is based on consumers, and you need to focus on getting them into the ecosystem IMO.

They say STRAT is a platform and not a coin but personally I think it is still considered as a coin/token. Probably it pumped too because it was just nominated recently in the https://theeuropas.com/awards/.

I don't know if that's saying much though. I don't recognize any of the other cryptos on that list?  Huh
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zechariah's Portfolio of Altcoins on: June 03, 2017, 06:04:31 AM
I've seen people mention Verge multiple times, yet it's all speculation. I agree it COULD have huge growth potential, or it could just fall into obscurity and never raise much more than it is (I've been a bag holder in that situation more times than I'd like to admit).

There's very little information about Verge itself, a roadmap for future goals/development, a whitepaper explaining the purpose, etc.

Honestly I think people are just getting ancy with BTC and ETH going sideways and they're just hedging their portfolios with anything that looks moderately profitable.
94  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: June 03, 2017, 05:01:24 AM
Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones and don't have to wait until the 900-1000 range. Sad
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stratis speculation on: June 03, 2017, 04:57:49 AM
Stratis is weird to me. It's a decent design and I like the C# aspect (I'm a C# coder), but at the same time the future seems a bit unsure. As far as blockchains, I suppose I would place it @ #3 currently, so maybe it does deserve a higher value. I think a lot of people feel the same way (which is why the price has stayed low for so long and is just now starting to get attention with all the hesitation in BTC and ETH currently).
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Am I the only one who thinks markets are behaving strange right now? on: June 03, 2017, 04:48:34 AM
I think it's related to BTC holders being unsure about BTC's future with everything that's going to happen later this year. There's a lot of money floating around from people testing the altcoin waters. I think we'll see it continue until all the big BTC changes later this year. Then it'll be sink or swim time. Either all the BTC holders will return to BTC and the altcoin market will calm down, or there will be a mass exodus and even more money will start flowing into the altcoin market.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinMarketcap Manipulating the Placement of your Altcoin using Low Volume on: June 03, 2017, 04:37:53 AM
There are plenty of other sites that track similar data. I'm in favor for moving away from the current exchange system actually. I've got my eye on a few projects like Bancor and CoinDash that I'm hoping take off and put a dent in issues like these (CoinDash will be completely self-contained, no need for CMK or other exchanges from what I understand, and Bancor isn't even counterparty).
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cool ICOs of June on: June 03, 2017, 04:30:40 AM
Bancor, Status, and CoinDash for me (well, CoinDash is July I suppose). I'm looking for any project that makes it easier to get into the crypto scene. I think people are too focused on the business side of things rather than the consumer currently. Sure, it's important to get big money invested into crypto and to start laying a foundation for them to build on, but we also need to start thinking about getting public mass adoption (which has a HUGE barrier to entry right now IMO).

I don't like Tezos personally. Husband and wife team blatantly admitting they're taking 8% of the ICO for personal use isn't professional. I also don't think it's good to mix relationships and business (what's going to happen to the project if they split up?). All of their big money investors are investing in their business, not the ICO/currency, which also shows lack of faith in the project (they just want a cut of the ICO and could care less about future development). Could Tezos end up being profitable for investors? Probably, due to the hype (like BAT, which I also don't like, a big name developer doesn't mean BAT is a good idea), but I think I'll focus my funds on projects I actually want to advance.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Humaniq(HMQ) is dead?? on: June 03, 2017, 04:20:42 AM
I feel like a lot of these ICOs are overrated. Their ideas are decent, but it takes more than talking about an idea to be successful. Most of them lack direction and/or the ability to actually accomplish their goals. A lot of them will fade into obscurity as better projects come out IMO.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Mirrax's HIGH RISK altcoin investment guide for 2017 on: June 03, 2017, 04:17:28 AM
I wish I had been paying attention to some of these altcoins. I code in C# and would have been all over Stratis had it caught my eye. Oh well, hindsight 20/20 as usual I suppose.
