Google Play has started to reject these apps that have Donation buttons (although in my experience, donations are rather insignificant).

There is a lot of petty nonsense on this thread but I want to update about my recent Quark testing on the 'Old' 0.8x client.
I bought some Quark on Cryptsy and sent to an android wallet on the 10th of Jan. At first I thought the wallet did not work but then I chose the option to 'Reset Blockchain' in the settings menu. After waiting a considerable time for this reset then the transaction went through. So the android wallet lists the compatibility at 0.8.3.15 and above, and as far as I know, resetting the block chain did not put the wallet on the new 'fork' and make it compatible with the new 0.9x client.
To check on this, I sent some Quarks just now from my Mac client (running 0.8.3.22) and the android wallet received them just fine.
So why would I update to the new client that is running a new fork? Cryptsy must still be on the 0.8x client, the android wallet works on this 0.8x client, as does my older Mac client, if the new 0.9x client is compatible with these then it isn't a hard fork?
Sometimes the Quark Android Wallet fails to receive coins and a "reset blockchain" is necessary. That problem probably had nothing to do with the 0.9x client. I will check out the latest changes to the Quark source code and see if an update for the Android app is necessary.

@HashEngineering, is it possible for the proposed Android "vault" to carry the same address(es) as one's desktop vault? Or would the Android vault have to have totally new addresses, and one would have to move funds back and forth, depending on which platform one is using at that particular time?
It would be nice if one were on the road with one's phone or tablet to be able to send money, receive money, etc. from one's "main" (desktop) UNO address, and to be able to track that main address' balance, or other addresses in the vault which might be accruing mining revenue.
Would this be possible if one took one's desktop vault backup and were able to "import" it into one's Android UNO vault, thus the two vaults would "mirror" each other and if one made a transaction on the Android and got back to the desktop, you would see it immediately on the desktop? (And, of course, vice versa?)
It will not be possible for the Android app to carry the same addresses as the desktop wallet. First, the app will be forked from Bitcoin Wallet by Andreas Schildbach and he doesn't support the idea of having the same addresses in two different software programs. Part of the reason is a security concern, which has to do with transferring private keys from one to the other, which is considered unsafe. While I don't disagree with him, even if I did, it would be very difficult to implement. The android app will be an HD wallet (BIP32), but I am not sure if the desktop client supports BIP32. As a result, it would be necessary to move funds back and forth using standard transactions (which is the safest way to do it). For your on the road example, that might be best accomplished by an online wallet. Since the desktop wallet is standalone and the android app is stand alone, then there is no means to synchronizing the addresses. It's possible to add a watch feature, where certain addresses would be added to the android wallet to watch balances. Such a feature would take a long time to program and debug. The desktop wallet and the android wallet use different wallet formats, so it is not possible to import from one to the other (such an action would not be safe considering that the wallet files may not be encrypted). Now, if both were BIP32 (HD Wallets) and they both had the same seed value, then perhaps they could be synced, but currently neither wallet has an import or export feature for the seed value (from what I have seen).

Wow! What a response from this awesome community!
@FK I remember Cryptapus mentioning the fork, but don't know if HashEngineering knew about it. Is that something that Hash could talk with BW about so they don't have to duplicate work?
Credit to Cryptapus for heading this up. Great job!
I am aware of the Merge Mining feature that will be activate in the future. I will be forking my Namecoin Wallet, which supports merge mining in the validation of the blocks.

I guess I better get started right away! In seriousness, I am glad to see that there is support for this project.

This project obviously went bust.
In recent months DGC and FTC have forked, meaning that this wallet software no longer works for some of its coins.

Thanks for clearing up the premined issue for me, so many coins out there i must be getting mixed up. I will look into this offical wallet tomorrow.
Its not safe to keep all your coins on that android wallet. There were some issues not long time ago, where the wallet could not connect to the network... Plus theres is no darksend and probably never will be... The Android Wallet is being upgraded with PIN support, which will make it safer. As far as DarkSend, I am just one programmer and could use a lot of help adding in the Darkcoin Specific features to the wallet app. ( https://github.com/HashEngineering/darkcoinj) https://darkcointalk.org/threads/android-wallet-v4.3899 - beta program for upgraded android wallet.

Follow this link if you are interested in trying the newest beta program of the Android Wallet. It has been updated to include the newest features from the Bitcoin Wallet for Android. It does not yet have InstantX or DarkSend. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/android-wallet-v4.3899/

how much you are charging for your service of android altcoin wallet creation can those wallet be used with POS coin and will work for staking
Somewhere between 1-3 BTC. If you are asking about a POS wallet, it may be able to be forked from Blackcoin. Not sure if that one supports staking. But it requires a large part of the blockchain to be stored on the phone, unlike the bitcoin wallet, which requires only about 1 MB or less for the blockchain storage.

yea that makes alot of sense! one node always up is addnode=www.dirtydiggers.org and addnode=seed.frankos.org
These nodes will be in the next update.

Hi I'm Kris I'm the one who has been working on getting the android app back up and running.
So the issue with the Feathercoin android wallet is that is does not have NeoScrypt in the java feathercoinj project so it is rejecting blocks after the hard fork.
So there are three things that needed doing. 1.) First get NeoScrypt which is a c program working with Java via jni. 2.) Integrate the jni code into feathercoinj (with multi platform support) 3.) Rebuild the android wallet with the updated feathercoinj library. And update the code to hash using NeoScrypt after the fork block.
So far I have managed to get number one working. Its taken a while as I know Java but both JNI and c are new areas for me so I have had to learn as I go.it still requires some automated tests bit I think they would be better placed inside feathercoinj.
Kris
I have done this for many different algorithms (x11, quark, groestl, qubit and scrypt). Let me know if you need help. #2. https://github.com/HashEngineering/groestlcoinj - see the jni directory for the means of connecting the C code to Java. #3. The compiled jni libs will go in the feathercoin-wallet (for example: https://github.com/HashEngineering/groestlcoin-wallet/tree/prod/wallet/libs)

Hey now! We are alive! ^_^ we just need more spv nodes up. Seems keeping those up is the freakin hard part haha.
Yes, the Franko Wallet is running. Let me know if it stops! Will do, ill probably be updating FRK to the latest btc standard that way we will have alot more nodes with bloomfilters on by default. LTC turned it off by default which makes it harder for the android wallet to find nodes. While that is true, I also turned off BloomFilters in the Android App for Franko and gave it a list of nodes to connect to. The app does not have the ability to find other nodes to connect to, which is unlike the main desktop client. The list given to the Franko app need to be reliable.

It should support NeoScrypt. Iam redirecting this request to our AppTeam. Thanks for the heads up! Regards, ChekaZ Any news on the app? Google Play reviews indicate that current version was not designed to work with the NeoScrypt fork.

I loved this coin when I was mining.. Good revenues.. I will try the wallet.. Although I DON'T have any more GRS .. EDIT: There is one big thing missing.. How do I copy the wallet address into clipboard? there is no way I can write that down on a paper and then write it again in the phone.. The copy to clipboard function for addresses was removed from the Bitcoin Wallet (from which Groestlcoin Wallet is based) because it is considered unsafe. In the App, go to Request Coins, then tap the button in the corner that almost looks like a triangle. You can then share the address with many of your apps. this is how I get the address to my computer with the regular desktop client to send coins to my phone. The safety issue is if there is a program or service monitoring the clipboard on your phone and it notices a Bitcoin address, then it could change the address to a different one and you would copy the wrong address to your other app.
