311M pulled yesterday running @280MHz

Hello again everyone, back on page 52 you kindly gave me some advice for getting my bitshopper sourced compac going and this is just a quick update after I found some time to sit down and look at it again. It turns out my hunch about power was correct as my crappy hub I was using clearly only does ~500mA per port (oddly it was ok running 3x block erupters back in the day) but I switched over to my PiHub that I had lying around which has a port rated at 1.1A (for plugging in a raspberry pi to power it) and it has been running for over an hour like this. I have got it running in BFGMiner 5.4.1 ok with the following command: bfgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -O username --set compac:clock=150 The hash rate looks about right for 150: I'm happy that its working but I have a couple more questions: 1. I have to manually add the device and tell BFGMiner what com port its on and then it works fine and is detected as AMU0, it doesn't seem to get auto detected is there a way to tell BFG to start on a particular com port? (sorry for the noobish question!) 2. It doesn't blink any lights at all whilst running and I thought they blink? I just get a nice bright green LED lit, could it be a slight hardware variance between the green heatsinked gekko and the bitshopper one? 3. I get the odd comms error but they are really infrequent "AMU 0: Comms error (werr=1)" is this anything to worry about? Its running very cool with a tiny 60mm fan (from a socket 370 cooler, remember those?) running at 5V off the USB hub the miner is plugged into I'm probably going to try novak's cgminer again now that the power issue appears to be solved to see what happens there but its nice to know that my miner is not defective. It should be detected as "CBMx" and hashrate @150 MHz is 8.5Ghs! Try to pull and plug it back in .. it should get autodetected.

If you plan to use Y-cable you can use it as the power source. Then you need a real (maybe powered) USB-Hub for data.

- is it better to wait if the Pool has the next block found
It makes no difference - is it better to rent 1 PH for 10h or 2 PH for 5h
It makes no difference - is it better to rent some big Rentals or many smal ons
It makes no difference - is it better i start the rental if the Pool has a high or a low hashrate at the moment
It makes no difference - on what for a day or night Time is it better to start
It makes no difference - if you have other good tip for me
Alas no. This should be carved in stone!!

not sure what happened to mikestang
pretty sure highest is hedgy73 about 11.6 million
pretty sure most shares is Jake36 around 480,000 plus
so unless I am wrong I need addresses to mail sticks to.
please pm me.
Thanks again Phil for running the competition, sending PM now . Well done everyone that took part and congratulations Jake36 for most shares, that's a seriously fast stick you've got there . I still cant get over the 11.6M share . I'd been running 2 sticks for about 2 weeks until the competition and my best share had been 9M with both sticks in that 2 weeks. I think the idea of two prizes made the contest a lot better. Yes I think so too, thanks again. Hopefully if there's another one more people will join in . We will have a real POD-Race soon! Please tell me more? . https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=995675.msg13032559#msg13032559

Someone is going to get lucky today. I got a feeling.
What kind of dinner did you've got? I just took a turkey out of the oven. So I ate turkey cranberry sauce and apple sauce. Today is the first of 21 days in a row of something to eat with turkey every day. What is Rubicon? a drink or ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubicon_Drinks

Well, missed my 485,000 share estimate, but ended with 477,858. begin end CONGRATS!!

so hedgy73 is in first for highest share 11.6m
and If Jake36 keeps his together for about 1 ½ he will do most shares. and he could sweep if he pulls a big number like 12m in the next hour
If Jake36 crashes I think Landy1264 wins most shares
Anyone who offer me his fingernails to bite on? Mine are allmost gone ... Just kiddin'! I think Jake36 is front now and has won! Not yet LOL, still got about 15min to go. It's more likely we solve a block as if you crash to the end!

After some sleep and with Just about 2 1/2hrs to go, still going at freq 435 with 23.85GH.
Looks like the shares might have slowed a little, at ~ 428,100 and still with a 3.62M best share.
2 x ouch! That hurts ...

And you got a very impressive best share too! Of almost 2M Thanks, but nothing my old Block Erupter will do also : https://i.imgur.com/EDEvbB6.jpg (look at the 1Aie... 2nd line).

My race is over! Clean run but beaten (maybe) by 1.5 1.79 Gh/s ... This is the 24h screener: Maybe i get "show and shine" with 0 HW in 24h. 25h screen shot will follow.Update: 25h : Was fun to be part of! Thank you phil for hosting us! Switching back my other sticks now ...

shiny! 400 Mhz 22+ ghs in that screenshot! I tried for that and couldnt fire it. got 390 for overnight a few times but only 380 for the contest what hub/whatever etc are you rolling with? No hub does the trick! Only Y-cable with external power. It will run @425 but i've to little time to filter the noise on the wires. It will run but throws about 10 HW per minute. So i let it run @400 for the race. Stable for 3 days now .... yup the other day I had a 2200 uf cap on the power leads on a droc power supply @ 5.25v at the socket. ran 390 mhz 16+ hours with one (count em, one) hw error. but it was hard to fire it sometimes.. maybe 2 out of 10 times it fired but the other 8 it would fail with the usb_lib thing. but I "improved" the setup last night. of course I ran out of time and it was a crappy job so I didnt trust it. so with 20 minutes left on my 7-7:30 am start I went to "plan b" ie I just scrapped it and went with a molex connector from teh usb socket right to my seasonic x750 psu. no caps on it. tried for 400mhz but Failed. btw no hardware errors 7 hours in @ 47*C what external power supply? for me at least the contest is more of a hardware/fun/lulz thing: what works? how far? and what did you do to get it.. far more interesting to me than winning I Power supply is just a 12V/60W brick and a 12V to 5V step down converter. Step down gives 5A steady and 8A peek but costs only a few bucks.

8h to go!

Okay I was thinking.
I have in no particular order
Guruclef-------- 724,261 = highest share ever Landy1264 ---- 6,994,043 = highest share ever hedgy73 ------- 961,969 = highest share ever vapourminer--- 316,537 = highest share ever Jake36--------- 8,030,647 = highest share ever--------Jake has a screen shot showing his current high for 3.62 m
If anyone inside their current gui please post a screen shot.
that 3.62m could be the highest share winner!
and it does not get bounced if he crashes as
highest share does not have to be in a full 24 hour run.
most shares does have to be in a full 24 hour run.
Screen after 13 hours:

okay I have 3 sets of info so far
Guruclef ------- 13,582 starting shares starting best share 724,261
Landy1264 ---- 306,857 starting shares starting best share 6,994,043
hedgy73 ------ 315,210 starting shares starting best share 961,969
Numbers above are from the worker-stats so they were not resetted. We should take the numbers given in the miner-window. They count from start! ..... or am i wrong? You are correct but I need both for quality control. it is why I asked for both. Okay, i see ... For the first 8h i've done: A:147706 BS:682k! it does not hurt if you link an 8 hour screen shot a 16 hour screen shot and a final 24 hour screen shot. I never ran a contest like this I have basics done but execution is a work in progress. Okay, a little bit over 8h;
