Hey guys,

I am a newbie with respect to mining. Boris already answered many questions but I do have some more. As I don't want him to waste time on answering my questions, maybe you could help out:
1) Once I put up my mining rig and got everything running, can I just leave it alone and it will keep going? How much maintenance and supervision (updates or whatever) is required? Is it a problem to leave the system alone for a whole day (12-16 hours)?
2) The power required to run the GPUs, does it increase proportionally to the number of GPUs deployed?
3) Can you put that system up in your bedroom? I have an open apartment with one huge single room
4) Any other general recommendations apart from the hardware?

Thx and cheers!

1) Yes but you should be careful wether the temperature doesn't go too high, but if the temperature looks stable it shouldnt be a problem do leave the rig alone for some hours
2) Yes, more GPU means more work and more power requirement
3)I dont know, maybe it can get a bit noisy and it would warm your room a bit
4)Just make sure it can get some fresh air and it should work fine

Now over 50 BTC!

Thanks for giving me a try!

Would you be willing to swap the the buy and sell order books? Right now the buy order book is on the left while I think most other exchanges have the buy order book on the right. This caused me to make a double take when I thought the sell side was offering below the buy side.

I will consider it.

I'll probably also rename them to Buy / Sell instead of Bid / Ask.

Yes please I asked for something similiar a couple pages ago Smiley

Yes you did.

Done!

Well done, I will move my VTC to your market whenever I'll feel to sell them ^_^

Looks a market with some good potentiality, it just need a little more volume to be 100% viable Smiley

I'm working on it.

It's only been open ~1 week, but volume is growing quickly.

My first marketing push(es) will *hopefully* start over the weekend.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback!

Maybe you should change the "Bid/Ask" with "Buy orders/Sell orders" since some non anglophone users (like me) might get a bit confused, it happened to me and a friend of mine (yeah I know it's a pretty dumb mistake)

Scam cryptsy.
Cryptsy purposely trying to bring down the price of the VTC using dirty tricks like this. Now chart looks awful. It scares people

It's not Cryptsy fault this time, someone just sold 10 vtc at a stupid price

What is a Kraken?

For those unfamilar with stock trading...

From Friday 7th to (at least the 11th*) the exchanges have been pretty much in what a stock trader would call an accumulation pattern.
None of the three exchanges have been exempt from it... Bter has been just as bad as Crypsty...

The Big Sells (and Buys) are from a mere few whales who have acquired enough stock to bully the price around... (usually by trading Bitcoin in to get fat)

The Big Buy/Sell markers prevent us smaller timers from having a naturally adjusted price.
They then prey on those who panic sell into their range, (and also those who sell blindly and do not care about the price at the time, but just want their BTC).

Anyone selling now is only serving to feed the whales... And as long as they get fed.... That price is staying down...
When they have had their fill... The will pull their markers and give the price a good hard shove upwards, dump and then resume the gradual drive down to get more (if they think people will still be in it)

The ONLY way the cycle ends, is when the little guys (most of us) either run out of coin and lose interest (quit), or wise up and start to hold hold hold...
Whatever happens,  At some point the whale HAS to send the price back up... or else take a big hit...

------------

You can take the estimates with a grain of salt (I am no pro, that is certain), but based on what I have seen on BTer, I think unless the price goes back to 0.00540 one whale is going to lose some cash, and unless it goes back over 0.00580 he won't be making much profit (at least not at the Margins a whale takes the risk for)

Of course those values given above depend on the BTC / USD price (which is still the benchmark for all cryptocoin)

Either way I would be very very surprised if we dont see 0.00550 again sometime in the next few days, if not a spike back up to 0.00600 over the weekend.

-------------

Annoying as the market manipulation may be, There IS a silver lining, and what I am seeing is Volume Improvement....
Anywhere there remains sustained and increasing volume, there is value... and MORE importantly product exposure...

I know of at least two very well regarded individuals on a major stock-market forum, who took an interest in Vert (wouldn't surprise me if they are the Cryptsy traders peeps are hating, to be honest)... And one thing I have seen from these guys over the past few years, is they do NOT miss often with their money...

Whatever the trading clowns do, Im holding the VTC I am mining tight, and waiting for the opportunities to spend it to arrive...

-------------

*Lastly all the above aside, I have to concede the tumble in the last 6-8 hours sits OUTSIDE my expectations for an accumulation pattern (perhaps the whale met a kraken, and got snared) ...  Be Careful !!!

F**k Cryptsy, really.

Vertcoin is soo tricky to set up. I'm only getting 180 Kkash on 7950 and 250 Khash on 7970 on basic settings. Any advanced options and that modified cgminer keeps crashing or HW erorrs occure.

It's normal, you get half your normal hash rate

I will send VTC to Poloniex, seems a good exchange to me ^^

Why would you advertise a doge pool here lol
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 11, 2014, 03:56:51 PM
This Cryptsy is a total failure, going to get my VTC out of that asap
EDIT: It would be nice if the major pools would make some news about http://vertcoinmarket.com/, there are big miners outta there who could possibly finance some of the project with just 1 day of mining or even less

Why don't we ask doge developers help? I mean marketing help, we could ask them some kind of partnership: we have a strong currency and they have a lot of users, since doge is not meant to be a gold currency we could party up, we could make vert/doge exchanges and when vert grow stronger even the doge could benefit from it... what do you think? Vert for big payments and doge for micropayments, it could do well. Afterall doge devs can actually understand why VTC is a good coin
