81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM VP "We are forking Ethereum" on: October 12, 2014, 02:56:04 AM
I listened to the interview back when this thread started, and it does have a kind of "underpants gnomes" feel to it.  The VP doesn't really articulate clearly how the coin is going to solve the cloud-support problem, why it needs Turing-complete scripting, or the basis for choosing Ethereum as the base.  It's possible that as a VP, he just doesn't understand these things, though.

SSD is the only one with Stenography.

Where can I read about SSD's steganographic features?  I didn't see it mentioned in the ANN thread's OP.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Testnet for Automated Transactions (AT) - Turing Completeness for Nxt on: October 12, 2014, 12:03:22 AM

Some time ago, Knowles said he's abandoning it due to disinterest from NXT core developers.  However, if you follow the link I gave above you'll see that NxtAT is still very much alive.  Presumably Knowles gave the funds to the developers who are continuing the project.  You might ask them for verification.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: October 11, 2014, 11:53:26 PM
I am wondering if mining on a 5400 rpm HDD has the same performance as a 7200 rpm hdd.If their capacity is the same.

It depends on how long it takes to read a set of scoops.  If it takes more than 30s or so, you may sometimes miss a short deadline.

The burstcoin community is young, but so far is showing relatively little avarice.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: October 11, 2014, 04:05:49 PM
The Burst dev needs to convert Burst network into decentralized dropbox ASAP, when users would pay for distributed encrypted storing of their files with BURST coins. This is the only way for Burst to survive.

This is on the roadmap in the OP, but it may take a while to design.  (I am not privy to the design process, though.)  Read the maidsafe whitepapers for an overview of some of the wrinkles.

Which was already mentioned, 8 posts before yours. On the SAME PAGE, ffs.

familiaverde was likely correcting the previous report, which was off slightly (by 5 burst.)

Someone said recently that introspection is good and one should try to evolve...  Good advice, I think.

Oh well shit...you watched the video!!HODL the phone!  everyone! everyone!! he watched the video!! and now he is some sort of an exderp.

Vitalik's latest talk is very interesting.  He's extremely verbose, as ever, but I'm impressed with the honesty and thoughtfulness with which he's facing up to the potential problems.

No problem , if the dev doesn't want to   promote this coin on twitter and other site it is his personal choice.  However I will attend the new PoC [Suspicious link removed]d luck for everyone .

What is this new PoC?
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Watch this amazing exchange between Paul Massicotte and Andreas M. Antonopoulos on: October 09, 2014, 11:48:25 PM
I watched it from 37m on.  Antonopoulos is a consummate diplomat, that's for sure.

But introspection is a good thing, keep it up. Just... try to evolve. Smiley

Adding condescending praise and a smiley doesn't make you any less of a sadistic asshole.  Try taking your own advice.

Offtopic, which is the go to exchange to trade in? I might want some more burst Smiley

I don't really follow it, but I hear bittrex has the highest volume, so that may be the best place for a quick trade.

For a limit order which you might want to adjust before it executes, I believe C-CEX (note: referral link) is better than bittrex or poloniex because C-CEX takes their fee from the executed trade, whereas the others take theirs at the time you place the order.  I've heard that some people have had trouble withdrawing funds from C-CEX, but personally I have had no such difficulties, and I have withdrawn significant amounts of both burst and bitcoin.

Wow, awesome stuff, thanks again!

TC might be a bad idea, anyway.  Seems like any sufficiently powerful cryptocurrency may contain the seeds of its own destruction.

Can you please provide some context for this to explain why it's interesting?  So far, it appears to be a parliamentary discussion of economics.  What's amazing about it?
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: October 09, 2014, 07:33:41 PM
I don't understand why you guys care so much about the current price or what investors are going to think.  A low price is good right now, jump in!  I'm HOPING the price will drop to 100s.

If investing in burst or drives for mining  has caused you a cash-flow problem, investing in anything was a poor financial choice.  Otherwise, why not keep developing the burst ecosystem?  That's what's going to lead to a sustainable price rise... fretting about who to market it to in the mean time is silly.

Zero-information-content spam

Go away.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Code reviews for altcoins on: October 08, 2014, 08:07:40 PM
BURST is pretty easy to review if you know java and trust NXT.

There are a lot of short blocks with increasing basetargets.  Does anyone know what's going on?
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ian Knowles, Vasilis, NxtAT on: October 08, 2014, 02:10:12 AM
Automated Transactions was an attempt to implement ideas similar to those discussed in early Ethereum discussions.

Ian Knowles and a Greek named Vasilis issued an asset called NxtAT that was somehow related to the production of these features.

NxtAT seems to have disappeared.  http://is.gd/mxGIU7

the current capitalization of NxtAT is roughly $486,000 USD.

the issuer account has, at the time of writing, a balance of 1,368,473.02 NXT.  https://nxtblocks.info/#section/accountId/NXT-RZ9H-H2XD-WTR3-B4WN2

I really don't have a dog in this fight, but some people do still seem to be developing Automated Transactions.
