Never again Poolerino at a new coin launch. They work fine for some coins I mine, but only after a lot of fixes. I noticed this as well. Poolerino is terrible when it comes to launches. They're alright once they've had a week or so to iron out kinks, and the shoutbox is useful, but honestly I wouldn't recommend anyone to use Poolerino during a new coin's launch. |

Could you please clarify your release plans at a newb level? Are you planning your own personal fork in the 'real world' or are you still testing this? Additionally - anyone have any idea who keeps killing our difficulty transitions? This is the first coin I've watched and without a real clue it certainly looks like we're routinely under attack. I'd think it's pretty common knowledge by now that CAT is suffering from some pretty extreme difficulty oscillation. It could be opportunistic miners, a profit-switching pool, a solo miner with a hashfarm or a combination of the three. Pretty sure a solo miner or pool caused it to begin with though. I'm gonna give it a shot. I think I know what the problem is. Give what a shot? I'm lost. |

Definitely an instamine coin. 30 minutes mining on my 6770 and I have .75 ALN.
Yeah I still haven't even earned my first ALN yet with my 670. At this rate I might just pull out soon and move back to CAT or something. |

What's this about the RPC port? You can just put in whatever can't you for solo mining? That's what I did with other launches.

Quite a good price considering it very near the new production price(including capital costs).
If the price is much higher then its a better investment to simply sink another two or three hundred dollars into mining equipment, and that is likely to have greater long-term profitability with much lower risk.
Buying above this price would be unwise, anyone doing so should consider the above and realize their investment could be much better spent on additional hardware, and they would be setting themselves up for another repeat of dogecoin or earthcoin at a slightly slower rate.
Jesus christ nobody's going to sell at that price. I sold around 1500 for a total of 0.07 BTC and I still think I got the worse end of that deal, but I just want out of this coin ASAP. What you're asking for would have only netted me around 0.0177 BTC. I would have rather simply given that away than sold it if it were that cheap. You might have more luck in a few week's time buying at that price, but not right now, anyone selling at that price is nuts. If you really want MONA that badly just go buy some equipment. Though seeing that the Japanese are already trying to push away outsiders (as usual) I'm not sure why anyone would still be too interested in this coin. I'm interested, but only to the point where it makes economic sense. Your response only reinforces my assessment, the only reason people want an exchange so far is because they've been conditioned by things like doge and eac, and they want that quick exit, high profit before simple economic reality brings it crashing back to earth. People pop in mine a few days or hours and dump to the gullible while the price is inflated well beyond what it would otherwise be. You talk about dumping to the gullible, but anyone that is convinced to sell at that price at this point in time is just as bad. |

I wish I could say I was surprised. I get that the site might be having issues, but do they think that alienating western miners and traders is a good idea at all? I was actually about to switch back to mining MONA since I had finally gotten the hang of trading on that site, not happening now though. I'm done with this coin entirely once I sell off my remaining MONA. |

Wrote this in another coin's ANN thread, but still applies: 1) Release compiled wallets and source at launch 2) People can start solo mining 3) Zero reward for the first 100 blocks 3) It is built into the wallet to not accept more than 500 kh/s during the first 5000 blocks - obfuscate the limitation in the code a little, so it is not trivial one minute job to remove the limit - the limit could also be gradually removed instead all at once on 5000th block - mega farmers will of course try to circumvent this, but at least it will take a little time to setup multiple wallets 4) During the first 5000 blocks pools have enough time to set up, and will automatically start to operate normally after 5000th block If you choose to take the standard route, expect WTS 1,000,000 for 1 BTC offers within 1 hour of the launch and small time miners having 100 at that point going ok good bye another coin raped. Can anyone confirm that wallet will be accepting only 500 Khs?? How about pools? Then its gonna sux i think.. devs 1% premined and not even any chance to mine something at very begining as another P&D coins? That's just a suggestion. Here's what the dev for this coin said so far: I'm deving this coin btw.
As for uniqueness.
Aliencoin will have a fair launch like 42. The first 300 blocks are 0.0001 block reward.
Difficulty adjusts every hour or every 120 blocks. So quick retarget means that a whale of a miner cant push the difficulty up and then stop mining leaving it hanging with a high difficulty.
I put alot of the same changes I made to 42 into this coin.
Keep in mind that this will not take any resources away from 42. I will continue to apply fixes and updates to 42.
I wasn't there for 42's launch so I don't know how that turned out. Apparently it was alright, but I have the feeling that small miners like myself will lose out on this one, by the time the block reward increases to the normal amount the difficulty and net hashrate will already be far too high for us to even find blocks. I remember with Monacoin's launch I was one of the first miners (I ended up with 23 blocks to myself, with the first one being block #6 or so), and even then by the time we'd hit block 300 or so I'd already stopped finding blocks. Of course there was an extreme number of invalid shares during those initial few hours (from forking I'd assume) so that was probably half the problem there, but still. But again I wasn't around for 42's launch so maybe I'm wrong. |

I'm in on this one as well.
I just wonder if solo mining would even be worth it for me with my measly 300KH/s if the first few hundred blocks are only going to pay out a tiny amount anyway. Not sure if I should still attempt solo mining regardless or just mine at Poolerino from the get-go.

We also plan to patch a small issue with the tool that estimates the network hash rate. This tool has no bearing on the function of the coin, just how the wallet estimates the hashrate. In our opinion it is not reacting quickly enough to dramatic hash rate changes, which is why the wallet and catcoins.biz are so different in estimates. It's also affecting the diff predictions on IRC and at the pools.
