USP - Unique Selling Propostion - Why is CAT better than all other cryptocoins out there?

Only exact Bitcoin implementation of Scrypt in active development

FTFY. Just because the retarget count is less, doesn't mean it's not still a BTC copy, it's pretty much universally accepted that the BTC retarget is shitty even for bitcoin. It's complete insanisty for scrypt, especially with multipools. I'd argue we're IMPROVING BTC with that change.

fork it, fork it, fork it

There have been a bunch of suggestions, I believe a few are being built and testnet'ed as we speak to see what's going to offer the most protection and be viable. Not sure though only a couple of devs are on at the moment. As soon as we have some options ready we can offer some options and maybe reach a consensus and get the thing deployed. I'm pretty sure everyone needs this to go off without a hitch, so a bit more planning this time would be good I think.

Maverick if you need extra admin for fb/twitter, or if you need a project coordinator, code tester and so on and so forth I'm here to help as much as I can

Kuro, you've been quite active on the forums during this coins lifecycle, I personally would be happy to have you. Any objections?

I'd also like to personally nominate envy2010 and janos666 for addition to our team. Are you two interested?

Thank you, but I think I am too pessimistic for a marketing person. Grin
But feel free to contact me about any ideas if you think I can be a significant help. Wink
I am still a CAT holder myself.

I wasn't even really thinking as a marketing person, you've have some good ideas and are active, we always will need more people with good ideas who are respected by the community. Your ideas and contributions are all we ask for. Wink PM me if you're interested.

I've received a lot of hate from several people via PM about me "abandoning MY project", that people invested real money into this, that I shouldn't be able to sleep with the damage I've done to people letting the price of the CAT go down, etc etc.
This is not MY coin, I don't control it and I don't decide its price. This coin is property of everyone who holds any amount of CAT and trust me when I say that I only have a very few amount of them. Please go and blame the people who hold dozens of thousands of CATs (not me) and didn't donate for giveaways or bounties when they were made with hopes to promote this feline.
Because the robbery happened into my house I had to take a 2nd job that is now using most of my previous spare time, so I can't work on the coin like I did before. But hey, this is a community, patches are accepted on the Github repo and you don't need my help to promote the CAT or create services around it. Do you?

It will be at least several weeks until I can get enough free time again to donate to non profit (for me) internet projects. So I will be accepting patches, suggestions and OP modifications requests in the meanwhile (If you get a consensus about the current situation of the difficulty changes, then I will implement it, just like I did on the hard fork). If you want this cat to be successful, take some action yourself! Don't keep waiting someone else to do the job for you.

Your timing is perfect KR105, I'd like to extend some of your thoughts. Those of us on IRC have been putting a group of people together to help manage the day-to-day activities of our coin. We obviously don't own the coin, nor are we interested in "taking it over", but with the communities blessing we'd like to represent it and form a leadership team for the coin. This would allow KR105 to attend to the issues in his life he needs to, while still being available when required.

Over the course of the past several days, we have acquired most of the social media feeds and websites that were created for Catcoin at launch. We've done this to unify our public image and ensure that all data is up to date and accurate. We are in the process of making the Catcoins.biz website our official content, but on the catcoins.org domain. This decision was decided upon because many people voiced their displeasure with the ".biz" extension, and many stated it detracted from the legitimacy of our currency. Also, the content of that website is more complete, and ultimately useful than the content on the .org domain.

We've acquired the Facebook group www.facebook.com/Catcoinz, and it has been renamed to https://www.facebook.com/CatcoinOfficial. This page has almost 7000 likes and receives quite a bit of attention on a daily basis. I personally will be undertaking the overhaul of the information on this page, and will be adding a couple of other admins to help me with this, as there is a significant amount of data and resources to document and publish. If anybody wishes websites, games, pages or other information to be listed please send me a message here or on the page directly, and I'll ensure that it is added ASAP.

NyanCat, has acquired access to the CatcoinOfficial twitter feed, and will be providing more regular updates on that page. We're looking for a few more reliable people to help with social media content as a whole, if you'd like to help please message one of us and we'll go from there.

We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce our team as it is now (IRC usernames are used here, but are mostly the same as the Bitcointalk usernames):

KR105 - Creator and Dev of Catcoin
Mack25 - Developer of the .org website and also developer of the CatFlip website
Raistlinthewiz - Developer and GitHub source contributor with commit access.
Dogeles - Developer of the .biz website and also GitHub contributor with commit access.
Sir_Knee_Grow - Catcoin subreddit mod/creator and owner or the ##catcoin IRC channel
hozer - developer/tester with bitbucket/mercurial catbox tree
ZeroDrama: Prominent forum and IRC contributor who has been active since launch, heavy contributions to the last fork
NyanCat - Current admin of the twitter feed, and representative to our polish and spanish communities

And last but not least:

Maverickthenoob: Facebook page admin, code tester and general Catcoin supporter. I've been mining this coin since day one. I love the community behind this coin and the potential we have to be something great.

Obviously we're always looking for more talent and always open to suggestions and content from the community. We are a democracy, we want suggestions, nominations, content and ideas from everyone on how to make this coin the absolute best it can be. We have some really exciting new ideas that are being discussed as we speak, and as we flesh out the ideas a bit more, we'll bring them to the table for the community to see and vote on. We've created such a large team to diversify our talents and to make it so that no one person has too much influence on the coin. We are absolutely for this community, and want nothing but the best for our coin. Our team is very committed to honesty, integrity and transparency. Our IRC chats are logged and at some point once we get some more infrastructure in place they will be made available for everyone to see.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that we're really excited about this coin as a whole and we really hope that we are able to continue being the absolute best community of all the altcoins.

Long live Catcoin!

P.S. If anyone wishes to nominate more members for our team or has any concerns about or current members, feel free to post it here, or come on IRC and chat with us! We are especially interested in nominations of people from the forums that are not regulars of IRC to diversify our team even more!

P.P.S Fork discussion is already ongoing, so I didn't mention it here, I'm sure we will come up with something amazing as a community to solve our diff issues once and for all!

We just got pounded by something. This wallet: http://catchain.info/address/9WCWQxNRQUTd5euTJyQ8Z9TaCPj6Ay9T4s whoever it is has successfully pushed the diff up 3 days in a row. Honestly that's pretty low, but I guess that's par for the course these days.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 06:45:16 PM
That's quite a bit of content. If someone could compile some of it that ISN'T int he OP that would be great. I'll be updating the main page with pool info and what not when I'm not at work.

Hey guys, lets get some stuff posted to reddit and this thread. news ETC. We're in the process of retrieving all the social media pages from their various owners so we can more effectively do giveaways and what not. Let's get this coin back to the top!

You were concerned that we were changing the coin too much as well, does your loyalty credit program not essentially make it a new coin? Maybe I'm just tired and am mistaking you for someone else.

No, it would not make it essentially a new coin. It is just a mechanism to exactly counteract destructive oscillations in the difficulty levels caused by people following profit-maximizing strategies and kick in only under some circumstances (which should become rare). It is precisely designed to counteract behavior consisting of dropping major hash power into a coin during easy difficulty times, and mining elsewhere when the difficulty goes up. This mechanism is so unobtrusive and bland and boring in its operation that it could be back-ported to Bitcoin itself, and it would continue to function exactly the same except and unless you suddenly had a 30% drop in hashrate followed by a big increase in difficulty (very unlikely to ever occur on the Bitcoin network). I believe the mechanism will get implemented somewhere first (I am hoping in Catcoins), show how effective it is at eliminating bad incentives in mining, that it will become standard for all the coins. Whatever coin implements it first will have the first mover advantage on this technology, and have added credibility for it in the market. Essentially all it does is make it so if somebody drops in and starts mining during particularly easy difficulty times, their reward is cut in half, just for that one difficulty cycle. If they stay and continue mining, they would get full rewards from the next block forward. Nobody has ever proposed any theory why such a rule is unfair, or how it would fail to counteract coin hopper incentives. Also, nobody has proposed any theory other than coin hopping as to why we are suffering huge and erratic swings in difficulty, or any theory of how people who engage in dumping Catcoins cheaply on the exchanges can replenish their stock of cheap Catcoins except by coin hopping, or any theory on why loyal Catcoin miners suffer reduced profitability other than that coin hoppers dump coins suppressing its value and obtain an unfair share of created coins by cherry picking when they mine the coin.

You're assuming their strategies are indeed predictable. Not to mention that if a block reward is all of a sudden half of what it should be, people are going to ask serious questions about the legitimacy of our coin, even if the mechanism is well documented and transparent. Unless you can address envy's concerns above, and make the mechanism reliable. It's a non-starter I think. Further, all the tools we have to monitor hashrate seem to be inaccurate, including the wallet itself. we saw plenty of proof supporting this in the last two spikes, network hash was nowhere near what it should have been. How can you predict an emergency mechanism off of unreliable information. Yesterday we were showing 212 Mhash on one tool and 400 on another, and neither seemed to be right.

Or what I find to be far more probable: the numbers were thrown off by the fork and are simply wrong.

Frankly we were lucky to survive the first hard fork, another fork to impose some kind of 'loyalty credit' so soon after the first is not likely to go down well.

I don't suggest or recommend doing this either; I think hard forking is to be avoided if at all possible (I even thought the first hard fork was not necessary or advisable). But it may not be a bad idea to test and validate the code version of the concept in the background and have it available and handy, just in case there is a more critical issue that comes up that necessitates a future hard fork, which might be an opportunity to introduce the feature without any added hard fork cost.

You got a real hard on for this loyalty credit stuff. You were concerned that we were changing the coin too much as well, does your loyalty credit program not essentially make it a new coin? Maybe I'm just tired and am mistaking you for someone else.

A whole bunch of people vetted those changes. And rally, all that was even changed was about 10 lines of code. I don't think this is it. We're seeing some other indications of people joining for a period, someone that wields a fair bit of hash power. See this wallet: http://catchain.info/address/9WCWQxNRQUTd5euTJyQ8Z9TaCPj6Ay9T4s We still haven't figured out who that belongs to so the profit switching solo miner seems somewhat realistic.

You guys need to get off Coinium, it has like 65% of the hash. Collectively, your greed is going to cause a fork, and the we'll all be out.

SPREAD OUT.

http://catcoins.biz/charts/

What if we already belonged to Coinium? It's just that we went to mine other coins then later came back. Would it cause a problem?

We need people to move. nobody wants to because it's PPLNS and you kinda get screwed in the short term. But if the coin forks, we all get screwed. Poolerion is Prop and took a huge hit at the beginning when he had to shut down to stop a fork. Go give him some hashrate. Or Catpools.pw, or P2Pool or Teamcatcoin, pretty much anything but Coinium.

Yeah, if everyone says they crawled through PPLNS then we've got a big problem. Some people need. to. change. pools.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 04:11:06 AM
We've still got 18 blocks left, if a major pool was on us, this would have been over already. MINE MINE MINE!

Coinium has A LOT of hash, please distribute to the other pools!

http://catcoins.biz/charts/

Teamcatcoin could use some loving right now. So could P2Pool or catpool.pw
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 03:21:30 AM
Did you guys actually manage to convince every multipools to ignore CAT this time? Shocked
It is on the very TOP of the CoinWarz list and yet, the network hash rate didn't really rise that much since the last high diff block.

Yeah, Hashcows is gonna back off. Middlecoin would crush this coin with 11GH, I'm pretty sure even h2odysee isn't THAT greedy, or stupid.
