University of Sydney’s Red Belly Blockchain Scales 660,000 Transactions/Sec; 11.5x of Visa, 94,000x of Bitcoin. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/university-sydneys-red-belly-blockchain-scales-660000-transactionssec/
New trials from the University of Sydney’s Red Belly Blockchain have found that it can process financial transactions 50 times faster than originally thought, making it quicker than Visa for worldwide payments.
The next stage for the Red Belly Blockchain is to make it available to all Internet users and eos may no longer be needed.

Quite cool, but EOS will do 1 million Ts/sec. with 100 CPUs according to Dan:

Quote
Our latest tests showed the Red Belly Blockchain can process more than 660,000 transactions per second on 300 machines in a single data centre. This is a notable improvement from our tests earlier in the year, which showed our blockchain achieved a performance of more than 440,000 transactions per second on 100 machines.

And don't forget that EOS is more than just transactions. It has a virtual machine to run contracts. Just like ethereum's EVM only faster. I don't know if that project from Sydney is about transactions or that it also has a virtual machine in it....

i saw all kind of prediction in price...in general, EOS price will fall to the0.5$ per eos...but some say that soon eos will be worth 25$...who knows...

my question:

During the ico time, do eos team  devoping any stuff? I saw that eos investments in temporary more on believe than in the reall fact. So people that say that soon will be 25$, there should be some fact behind it, that thay say that..i saw that in the mid sept. they will announcement some thing, but do not know what. can anyone know?

if there is no any annoncement of developing until end of ico, than price can drop more then 0,5$...if i understand, when ico is finnished, eos blockchain should go live and will be fully ready. right?

Yes they are developing and ahead of schedule.

Here's their GitHub: https://github.com/EOSIO/eos

Over 40 people have contributed to the code so far: https://github.com/EOSIO/eos/graphs/contributors

The idea is to launch the software somewhere june 2018. But at the end of this year we should already see a testnetwork.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: October 25, 2017, 07:31:21 PM

What's really interesting is that the flaws are in Ethereum. Not that much in the contract. If you can spam the network so easy that others get pushed away and you get your discount than something is really wrong with Ethereum.

Does anyone know if there's a theoretical limit to how many threads EOS can utilize?

Dan larimer talked in the Telegram group about using 100 CPU's to reach 1 million transactions per second on 1 chain. He also talked about several chains in parallel. But as far I understand that was delayed for now and they focus on 1 chain allowing all the transactions.

Didnt this dan larimer left his old projects?

Yes, although he still jumps in now and then to help them technically when there's an issue. Not that weird though as he really now how this stuff works.
Daniel was talking in the early days with Satoshi here on this forum. And he came up with Bitshares. After a while they created Bitshares 2.0 which can handle quite
some transactions per second. He used that technology to create Steem and the steemit website. It looks like a normal website but on the background it does use a blockchain.

And now the cool part: EOS will provide that technology to all app-makers out there. Not so strange that Daniel left these older projects, there wasn't that much left to do from bug-fixes.
EOS will bring us over a million transactions per second on 1 blockchain only. They use Delegated Proof Of Stake:

Give it a read, this one is not so hard.

And even more news dapps coming to Alpha 2. This is a chat application. Again: no central servers needed. Mutable Data allows people
to own a certain address and location and even update it.

Someone just published the first forum on Alpha 2. Now a forum doesn't sound that difficult, but remember this is working without a central server  Smiley.
MaidSafe is probably running 100 different droplet nodes at the moment, but for a forum like this here's what happens:

- All data is split in (1 mb. max) little chunks.
- All data is encrypted and un-encrypted locally on people's computers.
- All data is shared over the different nodes. And they have no clue what's in it.
- The domain is registered in a 100% decentralized way. Even MaidSafe can not tell who uploaded/downloaded which chunk or who registered what address.

This is what Alpha 2 is all about. Give devs some APIs to work on dapps (in this case a web-dapp). In Alpha 3 we'll see vaults from home again.

It's all taking some time  Cheesy but good progress is made.

Checked this after a week and the few holdings I have has dropped a lot in value, was this due to the kraken notification or why has EOS lost more than 50cents in a week

I've read around that price is expected to drop for a long while, during the distribution phase, before it will eventually starts to climb again.

That really depends on how much demand there is for EOS tokens. That's (as always) the big question. Qtum has a cap of 654 Million. Neo a cap of 1,4 billion. And these projects (just like EOS) are competition for Ethereum. The difference right now is that not all EOS tokens are distributed yet. They're around 50%.

So if EOS becomes as much wanted as Neo its cap should be 50% of Neo's cap which is 700 million. Or 1,69 dollar per EOS.
If EOS becomes as much wanted as Qtum is should be at 0.79 cents.

But my impression is that a lot of people don't have a clue. Just imagine 1 billion EOS tokens out there next year and think of a marketcap you think is possible in 2 years. I would say above 10 billion USD so around $10 per token. That's why I'm buying at these prices. Would even be cooler if EOS really kicked Ethereum's ass at 27 billion. Ethereum was a nice idea but nobody is using it for anything other than ICOs. That's because it's limited as hell with 15 ts./sec. EOS opens the door to big social media platforms and really fast decentralized exchanges.

can we asume this coin is almost dead? just noticed the (nonexistent) volume on polo

3,5 million $ overall volume over the last 24H. Not that low if you ask me...

several new hires (totaling 26 employees now) and new Android binaries.

Thanks Zeeman !
So what's the next big milestone to look forward to ?

Alpha 3 is expected in only a short number of weeks after Alpha 2. It will bring us Vaults from home again. They're working on mobile Apps, uTP support (the connection protocol uTorrent uses) and Datachains. The first part of the datachains will register the connections and splits and merges of the groups. So let's say 15 Vaults are keeping up a certain address_range. And new Vaults join and leave, and even the group might split in 2 if it gets too big. That group of Vaults and the other groups that are close will store all the signatures in the Datachain for that group. so all actions that need consensus. SAFE will become 100% autonomous, so no central trackers like BitTorrent etc. That's what the Datachain (part 1) is for. Datachains part 2 will be about storing data. So a group of Vaults is responsible for a x-number of chunks. And all the hashes are chained together etc.

Lot of great stuff happening. Make sure to check the forum. You can already move some coins (not Safecoin) around. You can store a website, chat, mail, and do more things on community websites.

Still in alpha, bad sign, we can't see the real release in 2025, will you have another round of ICO?
No another ICO. Team is selling their MAID tokens on exchanges to get funding.

Hmmm, ok. So is the current supply of MAIDSAFE tokens capped ?? Or can the team just create new tokens as they wish ?

No it's capped on the OMNI-protocol.
