82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is it possible to mine Litecoins on my Mac? on: January 16, 2014, 02:42:15 AM
I have an early-2011 Macbook. I know that I won't be able to mine Litcoins with my Mac's GPU. But, if I get a block erupter or something would I be able to mine Litecoins on my Mac?

The ZeroBlock app for Android is terrible. On iPhone it's great. Crashes every time you open it, and doesn't store the value you put in the currency converter, although they told me on Twitter they are going to update it soon.

For now, I just have a Coinbase widget on my Android home screen that displays the current CB price.

I see no reason to make a wide-scale change. Wallets should allow users to change the denomination whatever they want. On Blockchain.info, for example, I have it set to display everything in mBTC. So I only read transactions in mBTC, and my money is in mBTC in my view.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Most secure way to store a Bitcoin "savings" account on: January 10, 2014, 11:36:29 PM
Sorry if this question has been posted before, but I couldn't find a good, straightforward answer.

Right now, I have my wallet with Blockchain. I have one wallet login, and within my wallet I have two address. One address, my "checking" account, has .1 BTC. The other address, my "savings" account has the rest of my money.

My savings account is stored in an offline wallet I made using this tutorial: https://blockchain.info/wallet/paper-wallet-tutorial-web

I followed the instructions above and printed out two copies of the wallet.

I have a few concerns:
- my computer was connected to the internet at the time (I used the Firefox Blockchain extension)
- that somehow the wallet is stored in my printer's memory

Most likely, what I've done is secure enough. However, I'm a bit paranoid with this stuff and just want to see if there's anything else I can do to secure my so-called "savings" in Bitcoin.

Thanks in advance for any help.

On Blockchain.info, it's possible to set the currency displayed on the site to mBTC.

1) Are you an ANDROID OR IOS (iPHONE) user?

Had an iPhone since 2007, bought a Nexus 5 a week ago and love it.

2) Which phone is it? (name?)

See above. Nexus 5.

3) Which Apps do regularly you use for Bitcoins?

I use Blockchain.info for a wallet, and a Coinbase widget to check prices. Also have ZeroBlock.

I use Blockchain.info to do both, where I have two wallet addresses.

One is my so-called "checking" account, and the other is my "savings" account where I store 95% of my funds.

I printed out a paper wallet with Blockchain. So when I buy coins on Coinbase, I send them directly to the paper wallet. They can't be spent from the paper wallet without the encryption code.

I think the ideal setup is something like this.

Thankfully, the transaction went through. Hope Coinbase continues to run smoothly for everyone else as well.

I purchased more than a BTC on Coinbase on Dec 31. It's been 5 days, and the BTCs are set to be in my account on Tuesday.

However, I've heard some people have had issues where the order says it's processing and at the end, the order is cancelled. Has anyone on this board had that problem?

Hoping my first BTC transaction goes smoothly!
