81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: June 30, 2016, 12:29:57 PM
Just to be clear

Those who have already claimed their IOTA few month ago (when it was old IOTA), they don't need to claim them again, do they?

Log in to the new wallet with your seed, see if your claim is in the history tab. If yes, it's all good. If no, claim again.

I have no acces to them for few days, so I  hope it is ok, if not I will do the manual / painfull  claim later....

Thanks for the answer

Not sure if anyone has seen the news today about Deloitte investing in blockchain startups, but the Netexplo awards were put on in partnership with Deloitte.  They are one  of the major reasons Bitland has been getting so much press in Europe, and part of the reason we will be presenting at two more conferences in France in June, one in Paris and the other in Aix-au-Provence.  More details to come!

Cheers!

Chris

Do you have the exact date of the conference at Aix en provence? I am living not far from there, but will be in hollydays abroad for a week in June, hope this will not be the same week.

Hello,

The conference will be July 1-3rd.  It would be excellent to meet anyone in the area, and definitely would love to have a chance to talk about Bitland or anything else in person!  I am also speaking in Paris some time between June 30 and July 2nd at the Viva Technology conference, but that date has not yet been set.

Here is a link to the conference in Aix-en-Provence:

Cheers!

Alors, je vais vous achete une biere si vous allez Smiley  ( pardon as my French is rusty)

Chris

When will you have your speech exactly? I want to come but don't want to spend the 3 days at the conference Wink

Ok cool, i should be there then.

I saw that registration are from 1st of June, I hope it will be free or at least not too expensive Smiley

Pour la bierre j'accepte l'invitation Wink

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 21, 2016, 09:11:20 PM
If a scientist or a commercial entity wants to get computational power from Gridcoin they will have to setup their own Boinc project, which then has to be vetted by the Gridcoin community and voted on for acceptance into the whitelist: http://gridcoin.us/Guides/whitelist.htm

Can someone explain me the economics of GRIDCOIN?

I do understand that miners use their calculating power to help scientific researches and then are rewarded with GRC.

However I don't understand how does it work on the customer side, if a lab need some computational power does he needs to pay the miners? Or he can use the miners for free?

Thanks for your answer traderman but that does not explain what is the purpose of the coin? When some projects are in the whitelist and use the computational power, do they have to use Gridcoins ?

Sorry but it is still confuse for me even if this project seems really interesting.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: April 21, 2016, 07:06:26 PM
From what I understood miners will provide computation power to scientifics and scientifics will have to pay with ELC the miners for their work.

People who own ELC can stake with POS and get reward from transaction fees which is dangerous for the network as there will be very few incitive to stake because you want to let the transaction fees low.

Regarding the economics of ELC, the price would go up if there is a demand due to a need of calculating power from scientifics / labs.

This economic model is ok as much as the demand is constantly growing but when the demand will stabilize then there is no hope for the price of ELC to grow.

I think that it would be better on an economic view to split the ELC spent to buy calculating power with a ratio of 80% to miners  and 20% to POS like this owning ELC would be more valuable and people would be more incentive to stake.
The only con is that basically buying calculating power would be 25% more expensive but as  I guess this decentralized model can lower the price by a huge factor, I think only 25% or less is not such a big deal.

Waiting for your thoughts about this idea.

I will answer your questions in the order presented:

1.  Cadastrals will be the de facto currency of the Bitland infrastructure.  This will allow investors to enter contracts with organizations looking to get loans or investors.  The contracts and ROI will be decided by the contractor/investor, as Bitland will have no say in those terms, but the platform will be where the transactions take place and are recorded onto the blockchain.  The buyers would be people looking to invest in developing countries but also want to guarantee government oversight, as we are working with the Land Administration Project in Ghana to make sure all the transactions are legit and legal.  No new coins will be minted, and the token is hard capped.

2.  Yes, this is 100% accurate.  If you look in the White Paper, you will see that this project has a 4 year plan that goes beyond the Pilot.  We are trying to develop an infrastructure that can be applied across not only Ghana, but to other developing countries and developed countries as well.  Since Ghanaian land titles have an upper limit of 99 years, our distribution of 3 million Cadastrals to the Oracles that witness the smart contracts will happen over the next 99 years.  Any Cadastrals that go into the system will not be destroyed, but will be added to the Oracle pool to be distributed on the same 99 year cycles.  There are also tokens set to be sold to governments as we seek out government contracts to get the large scale development of infrastructure completed.

Here is the breakdown from the White Paper:

-10 Million tokens for ICO at phase 1
-10 Million tokens for ICO at phase 2
-1 Million To Establish Basket of Currency Reserve during ICO Period
-2 Million to Pay Bitland Employees/Independent Contractors
-3 Million Designated to Smart Contract Oracles distributed over next 99 years
- 4 Million For Reserve for Governments to buy tokens, then pay out contracts through Bitland
Global GUI/Hardware

As far as why not partnering with Factom, there are various reasons.  I am a former Community Leader at Factom, and at one point Bitland was considering using Factom.  However, it was made immediately clear that Factom is more like SQL or Excel than a specialized land registry application.  Factom is not set up to handle anything except the actual "recording" of data.  In that regard, Factom is set-up for ANY type of record, and while simply recording titles would be great, we need much more indexing functionality than Factom has, and on top of that Factom cannot guarantee that the local electricity will be working.  The biggest problem with applying blockchain technology to developing areas isn't the acceptance, it's the physical infrastructure.  In most of Ghana, rolling blackouts happen multiple times a week.  Using technology that needs Internet access will not be a logical solution in a place like this.

THIS is why one of the biggest aspects of the Bitland Project is to set up solar-powered wi-fi centers throughout Ghana so that the network will never go down due to electricity.

I hope this gives some insight, and if you have any more questions, feel free to keep firing away!

Also, we are in the process of making partnerships, and will make announcements as soon as contracts are finalized.

I want to sincerely thank you for posting our ICO on your site without us asking Smiley  We appreciate it very much!

Cheers!

Chris

AA / If someone want to buy a house he can buy it with cadastral? Is it compulsory or people will still be able to buy with FIAT / normal bank account and be registered on bitland as well?

BB / "1 Million To Establish Basket of Currency Reserve during ICO Period" : What will you do with the sell of other 20 millions of cadastral? You will also convert it into  various currency right? So what is the difference between the basket of currency and the money you will get from the sell of 20 millions cadastral?

CC/ About direct deposit in bitcoin, as you use CCDEK as escrow, I don't understand why we cannot buy directly cadastral on CCDEK by creating an account and sending BTC?

Thanks for your good communication Chris, I did not invest yet but still very interested.

Some other question which come to my mind :

-Do you really think that after 3 tmes increased in price people will still invest in ICO?

-Is there a minimum amount required to launch the project?

-21 millions coins for ICO / 9 millions for running the company, what if you sell only 2 millions coins even after phase 2, will you burn the rest? Keep it for yourself?

-Also if only 3 millions coins sold then 9 millions coins represent a huge part of the company, the ratio 9/30 would be totally different ( like 9/12), wouldn't it be a problem?

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitland - ICO - Decentralized Land Registry on: April 17, 2016, 08:16:09 AM
Very interesting project !

This is where blockchain is usefull.

However  I have some difficulties to understand the economics behind this project.

You will find below what I understood, thanks to correct and/or complete :

Crypto economics :

People invest in crowdsale and at phase 1 get 10.000 CADASTRAL per  BTC invested then 20% of profits made by bitland will be given to share holders proportionally to their share (The token has no value else than to get these 20% profit, thought price can vary depending on the succes of bitland).

This part seems understood on my side.

Real world economics :

Bitland will register land title on blockchain to get the trust of the bockchain and a way to lower the cost.

You will physically see people and register their home on the blockchain and owners will pay you to do this job (this is how the company will get rewarded), you will actually act as a a notary . On this part I am wondering if government has already confirmed that the land title on the blockchain will be recognized?

I will think for few days about this project but I am pretty enthusiastic to invest for that kind of project.

What dissapoint me is that your selling your clients expansive entry coins, and cause its not easy to use they wont use factoids.

I don't think you understand.  All Entry Credits are derived from burned Factoids.  It doesn't matter if the Factom store burns them when getting a CC order, or by burning Factoids yourself.

Think about this from a business perspective.  How would they add data into the system?

1) Buy Bitcoins
-this is a non-trivial step today.  Do they issue a PO order?  Can they use the department credit card?  Both sound like a no.  result: No Factom usage.  End of project prototyping.

2) Send BTC to exchange and buy Factoids
-Doable as a business, but it would be operating under the radar since corporate accounts are not really a thing.  Shapeshift might work too, if it is up at the time.

3) Use wallet to burn Factoids and buy Entry Credits.
-doable, but awkward, as the community knows.

4) Now the business software can use the Entry Credits
-Actual business logic can progress and applications can publish on the platform.

5) Convince legal department + accounting department that the IT department dealing in Bitcoin is not risky for the business.
-Most of the world is still scared of Bitcoin.

or:

1) Use company credit card to buy Entry Credits.
-Factom, inc. processes credit card, pays CC fees, bears chargeback risk.  Factom inc. buys Factoids off the market.  Factom inc. converts Factoids to ECs and assigns them to the business's address.  Factom, inc has a strong incentive to keep the system working.

2) Business software can use the Entry Credits to publish.

Which part about this are you upset about again?  This is changing it from impossible to possible for businesses to use Factom.

If you think that we are making too much profit, you are free to setup your own Credit Card merchant account and try to undercut.  Complaining about a business taking too much margin without considering overhead means that more research needs to be done.

So you confirm that you sell 15 times higher than cost price? You can buy bitcoin with some services, they charge 10-20%, with you business I would understand a 50% profit margin even 200% for small amount, but 15.000% for bulk price...

What i dont understand is if the retail price is much more expansive

Yes, retail prices are typically higher than wholesale prices or the prices to make the product.

http://www.thedesigntrust.co.uk/what-price-to-use-when-talking-to-retailers/

I do understand to take some profits from sells of factoid, however according to the price on the website with 1500$ you give 100K entries...That makes 1.5 cents per entry so 15 times more expensive than true price.

I guess it is a mistake of mistyping in the store otherwise I could not agree with your prices.

Thanks for clarification
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: March 24, 2016, 09:50:43 PM
Dear Factom team,

this is how real dev teams keep their holders/users/investors informed.

http://www.coindesk.com/vitalik-buterin-previews-ethereums-path-forward-at-coinbase-hq/

The saddest part is that I was thinking whether to invest in Factom or Ether about 3 months ago. I chose Factom. With this kind of treatment of Factom community by the dev team, it seems I made a BIG, HUGE mistake.

You should dump your FCT and move to ETH so you can be happy. I'm sure someone will buy your coins, maybe me  Wink

you said in an earlier post that you bought in at 250K, so sell now and make a good profit and quit ur bitching.

Well said the clown must leave !
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [IOTA] IOTA Speculation on: March 24, 2016, 05:55:27 PM
So current price seems somewhere between 3k and 4.5k satoshis.
1 IOTA = 2.8 NXT x 0.00001938 BTC/NXT =  0.000054264 BTC

1 BTC = 1 / 0.000054264 = 18428 IOTAs  Cool

if person can confirm?!!  Tongue

indeed but this is the highest price you can find.

I would say price is between 4K and 5.5K satoshis, so it is rising day after day.
96  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BTSR Crowdsale is officially declared open - BTC accepted! on: March 24, 2016, 05:52:10 PM
Interesting project but over valued on my mind.

With 53 millions of BTSR issued you give a market cap of more than 6 millions $, I guess something close to half a million $ would create a better opportunity to invest.

Furthermore only 0.7X0.8 = 56% of the profits will go the buy back...

Idea is not bad but you should reward more your investors who take huge risks.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [IOTA] IOTA Speculation on: March 23, 2016, 05:07:17 PM
WTS IOTA by 6 tranches of 100K IOTA each (escrow superresistant mandatory other escrow may be discussed) :

1st tranche =  4.0 BTC
2nd tranche= 4.5 BTC
3rd tranche = 5 BTC
4th tranche = 5.5 BTC
5th tranche = 6 BTC
6th tranche = 7BTC

If you buy several tranches at the same time you will pay each tranches at the same lowest price (exemple you buy tranche 3 + 4 for 10 BTC instead of 10.5 BTC).

Thanks to add Yassin (also please remove the sale of my whole genesis account as it is no longer available).

98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 21, 2016, 10:10:17 PM
Is it possible that CFB change the genesis account of all the people who have pledged  for the deal, they can send him a pm, then sign with their btc adress from presale, the btc received from the deal will be sent to this btc adress.

I am just thinking that it is better than only promises of pledging....but it will consume time of CBF... So I don't know Smiley

For reminder I am pledging 100K IOTA for the deal.

I think this would not always easy. I have pledged 2'000'000 iota but I have bought this iotas by escrow in the Speculation thread. I can send the iotas once I have it.

True !  Did not think about that...

If this deal is so important why CFB or iotatoken did not pledge any iota for the deal?

People could incorrectly interpret the situation if they knew what amounts we put into the deal. It's smarter to take part in the very end if the others think that you have insider info.

Ok so the 25 millions is without counting you on it, it seems unlikely it will happen...

Maybe the fundation could contribute and get some btc in return. Is Ludom the funder? What does he think about this idea?
