81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 15, 2014, 01:59:23 PM
Will be there some plan to have some kind of "home page" for assets? I will buy shares of firm, startup, idea, coin ... and then I will go there (inside wallet?) and check:

  • actual details about firm or startup, idea, coin
  • what I actualy own and some details (in %, current price, etc..)
  • chat section using Nxt Arbitrary Messaging
  • connection directly to the firm owners using Nxt Arbitrary Messaging
  • graphs how well it is going

You could imagine it as Google Play only instead of "My Applications" section there will be "My Assets" and you will see there rich information about the current asset, people's reviews, live charts.

Is something like this planned? Even in super simple version for start = Informations + Nxt Arbitrary Messaging. I think it is very important for Nxt success.

Little summary for the average joe like me who will need to make nrs ready on windows7,
please complete if needed :

* download last NRS (message 1 page 1 of this thread)
* unzip
* install last java client if needed
* create .bat file with notepad++
code: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe"  -Xmx1024M -cp nxt.jar;lib\*;conf nxt.Nxt
*install this .bat in the main nrs folder unzipped earlier

* double click on your new run.bat file
* wait a bit
* in your browser, enter these adresses:

http://localhost:7875/

http://localhost:7876/admin.html

http://localhost:7876/alias.html

I know it seems a crap step by step but it may be usefull to some, there are clients
but people need to understand a bit how to use Jean-Luc work.

I think this is more correct for now. For version 0.8.10.

It looks like there should be good connection in the wallet between Assets <-> Messages <-> Voting in one "package" to cover all these needs around buying shares and be able to comunicate and vote directly with the firm.

If some firm will sell shares in Nxt Asset Exchange and I will buy 20% of the shares. Then how would I know that the same firm won't sell the same shares in another asset exchange platform? Then I will end up with 10% .. 5% .. 1% shares for example in no time.

You can pay by Nxt to get anything other people provide here:

http://www.work4nxt.com/

(I just need a little more setting to finish the interface, but this is a decentralized gateway for P2P payments, everything what is here: http://www.fiverr.com/ can be also here: http://www.work4nxt.com/

It looks promising.

What I've said for a long time continues to be true. I'm "cautiously pessimistic" about Bitcoin.
What I mean by that is that I'm loving the idea but I see a lot of real problems. One of my concerns is that the complexity of it all will hinder adoption.
I also have concerns that are perhaps born out of a lack of full understanding. What happens when BTC mining returns drop significantly lower than costs? Will transactions fees be sufficient to induce miners to continue participating?
But I'm not forecasting doom for BTC. I'm cautious. I don't know enough to say for sure.

Wikipedia potentially accepting bitcoins. It looks like he is afraid of Bitcoin and he's right. Maybe he would like Nxt gateway. Use it for NXT, BTC, and altcoins? He should at least know about our possibilities.

@ Native English people

Guys, I'm working on Digital Goods Store and need few words/phrases/terms for the following:

- To place goods for sale
- Opposite to above (when u cancel selling this goods)
- A comment that is left by a customer when they r (not) satisfied with the quality of purchased goods
- A tag that is used to describe goods to make it easier to find them (like "game", "online", "mmorpg" for online game codes)
- A process of send goods to buyers (actually it's publishing encrypted text on the blockchain)

nice Wink

Will be the store inside the wallet? Smiley NXTMarket

It would be great to sell inside the wallet real goods and have there second hand store too.

Three thoughts:

- Just say Passphrase should be at least 50 characters long
- Show an indicator how good the chosen passphrase is
- Allow people to chose a weaker password

What will be the maximum length of the passphrase?

Long passphrase must be copy / paste anyway, then for me it is the same work use 35 or 90 characters.

Nxt Mobile Application Company NMAC will be listed, and watch out for more..
Then I could buy NMAC shares and it will be only place where they will sell their shares?

I suppose Google shares will not be there Smiley. As I think about it, I have no idea how it will work.

I didn't checked yet. For sure I bought two. In worst scenario, I will own 4 Cheesy.

Why 4?

Cheesy

After Asset Exchange launch, what will be #1 example I could buy there? Coins, I know. Shares of some startup firm?

Asset Exchange is so great I just bought one pair of (.)(.), only 100 testNXT each. Go there, six more are in Sell Orders.

Do these come in pairs or a piece?

Is there a plan to have wesleyh's Nxt Wallet in Google Web Store? Would it be secure enough? Super easy solution.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 09, 2014, 06:35:43 PM
I've got a lot of catching up to do in this thread, also.  For now, I will say a few things off the top of my head.

First, we have got to pay more attention to NXT as a 1st generation coin, and call it a coin, without "quotation marks" or apologies.  We need vendors to accept it and people to want it.  NXT cannot be mined and the ability to forge it requires one to buy it on an exchange first.  We have to give people a reason to buy NXT.  That reason cannot be as a stake to forge more NXT because without exception newcomers are dramatically disappointed when they figure out the true numbers that underlie NXT forging. Doge has a fun factor.  NXT has zero fun factor.  It is a frustrating experience all the way thru - getting a client set up and running, dealing with a super long password or losing all your NXT if you don't, realizing you're not going to make anything of true value by forging with small stake quantities, asking yourself what can you do with this coin you just bought....  Repeat:  NXT is frustrating, Doge is fun.  WE MUST LEARN FROM DOGE AND BE FUN.

Second, we have got to identify just what is 2nd generation about this coin that we really truly are going to support.  Mixing/Zerocash anonymity?  Peer to peer AE?  Multisig gateways to other coins?  Transparent forging TF to get high transaction speed?  Multiple blockchains?  Pruning the main blockchain?  BCNext's latest out-of-left-field proposal for instant transactions based on some kind of multiple account?  Jesus, even the guy with the secret plan is proposing new ideas before completely revealing his old ideas.  This gives me a headache and a stomach ache at the same time.

TF and 1000TPS is what sold me on this coin and is the ONLY feature we have that is above and beyond all Bitcoin clones and even Etherium on the horizon.  I get that 1000TPS would take dev work, but I thought TF was a done deal.  Now it's not?

Third, we have got to pull together as a team and FOCUS.  FOCUS.  FOCUS.  Maybe the funding committees are the start of this.  I hope so.   I would go so far to say that there needs to be yet another committee election, for a leadership committee, one with no money or unspent NXT behind it at all, just the raw power to say "NXT IS GOING TO DO THIS."  and whose members then can stand up on a stage, virtual or real, in front of people and tell them that NXT is on a course to SOMEWHERE.

Maybe I'm just in dictator withdrawal from pushing the election over the goal line.   Maybe sleep will help.  G'nite.

+1

I hope next month will be more friendly and simple for newcomers.
