81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Switzerland and cryptocurrency on: January 21, 2017, 01:12:47 AM
If any country has potential to be home of Crypto Switzerland is fit the bill, you can see that some of these ICOs company are going to Switzerland to register there and take advantage of the law overthere, Ethereum, Slockit and recently Wings team

I couldn't agree with you more, Switzerland is the home of banking and they can be trusted with any currency on this planet including cryptocurrencies because of their long standing reputation and the laws are lenient so no country fits better folks.

Yes. Switzerland has always been known for its "numbered accounts".  Meaning its a great place to hide money. Why not cryptocurrencies too?

If you need to hide money or operate in a country that condones it, there is most likely something shady going on.

82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACTS] If I have to hear the word "ICO" one more time.. on: January 17, 2017, 07:36:29 PM
As long as people keep investing they will keep coming.

Well when people start getting worried about getting put in jail we should finally see some major improvements in this crypto stuff.

If we can abuse something we do.. it's what human history teaches us.
Give us a planet and we will piss & shit all over it until it's dead.
If we can get to Mars ? We will fucking trash that too !

I started this stuff against regulations but i realized after a while it was needed.
Just imagine waking up tomorrow and hearing the Police force / Govt / Ambulance / Fire Dept were closed forever.
Imagine no law enforcement ever again.. just pure anarchy.
How well would the Financial world being doing ?
I think it would collapse instantly.

I am surprised this scammy crypto bullshit has limped along as long as it has.
You can see we collectively will keep lowering the bar until we are stopped by force.
Common sense tells us the cops are comin'  Undecided

Good post Spoetnik! You are bang on.

Mankind can't be trusted to do anything, follow any rules, or live peacefully amongst ourselves without a hammer poised over our heads. It's been that way since the beginning of time when chiefs, kings, and dictators held the hammers.
Not much has changed in the thousands of years of our existance. We live under the illusion of freedom but we are not free, cannot be free, and may never be free.

I doubt a higher intelligence will allow us to spread. I'm sure they will view us a plague.

People will automatically assume its not a scam? That could be a good start. Doesn't always work out but what the hay.

Another run up? Cool. Unexpected but I like it.

Those with the best crystal balls win.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACTS] Innovation on: January 17, 2017, 07:05:52 PM
Haha, i totally agree with you, but les then 1% of the ICOs are legit, we have to say that because there are people there who are serious about their project, but can't reach a release point because of the other guys scamming around.
There are 4 projects i am watching closely, LISK, WAVES, BCC, ASCENDANCY.
LISK because it is a javascript blockchain application (if i got it)
WAVES because a lot of people talked about, and i doubt they will ever release a fully functional product without some lies around
BCC because i want to see where are the 1500BTC and what they will do with them, as of now, there are still no real proofs of funds
ASCENDANCY because it is a new project, who offers smart apps and frameworks, and i love both of them, so i am curious.

Even if all of these projects are interesting me, i have a golden rule, "I never invest in an ICO if i am not 100% sure that it is legit", so as i am naturally suspicious, i never invest (unless it is a firend, but i don't have friends here, for now)

No ICO is legit.

Yes, I know they sound great. They will change the world with their tech. Hasn't anyone started an ICO for a dapp/smart contract/coin/blockchain that will drive your car yet? There must be one coming.

All the ICOs are far fetched ideas to scam dreamers and naive kids.

Save your money.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Switzerland and cryptocurrency on: January 17, 2017, 06:47:15 PM
Didn't Ethereum move from Canada to Switzerland to avoid regulation and prying eyes?  Switzerland has always been known for a safe haven for money and unscrupulous activity.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did ICN developers fly with the money? on: January 17, 2017, 06:42:48 PM
I've read they are not updating the software, they cannot be found on the forums, the websites are not getting updates, no one is replying... what the hell is going on?

I was looking forward getting a position on this thing since it seems one of the few coins that didnt collapse after the ICO but it seems the developers have left so why the fuck would I want to put money on this then?

Devs ran away with ICO funds and money they made by dumping? Who would ever thought that would happen in crypto ...(sarcasm).
88  Other / Off-topic / Re: Need a Good VPN on: January 12, 2017, 01:18:31 AM
I use private Internet Access. Pretty good. Has a client for my phone as well.
Cheap and fast. Smiley also great torrent speeds.

Me too, couldn't be happier with PIA. It doesn't keep logs (they have had multiple subpoenas thrown at them from the Feds, and none have been successful because they showed that they don't keep logs, so they couldn't possibly give up any info).

They allow up to (I think) 4 devices on a single subscription which is $40 per year, have one of the largest numbers of servers based in different countries (good for getting around regional blocks), and best of all, you can pay in Bitcoin!!!

The only other VPN I've heard that is as professional is NordVPN, but I'm very happy with the service from PIA - have it on my phone, laptop and PC.

What he said. 5 devices. Works on every platform.

I think this is going to get uglier than it already is. And I know ugly.  Wink .... cue Dangerfield:

90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase intends to become a digital currency company not a bitcoin company on: January 12, 2017, 12:34:20 AM
So ... Coinbase wants to jump into the shady altcoin scene now ... huh.

Their true colors showing. Just another bunch of vultures wanting to fleece the naive.

Coinbase = Cryptsy

91  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 08, 2017, 09:26:53 PM
we'll see a Big move tonight, maybe above 1000$ again.

i guess that means you altcoiners will get to pick up your altcoins on the cheap?

based on what facts you say this about tonight?

I love the optimism but history tells a different story.  It's hard to revisit highs after a major dump.  "Oh shit ... I missed the moon ... I need to get off this bitch ... I hope it bounces back up so I can recoup losses".

Those who held thinking they were going to get a better price and those who simply bought at the high get scared and pray for a chance to dump their coins. Hopefully to break even or make a small profit. Some are so scared they sell for losses.

History tells us bitcoin will slowly cycle downwards for some time. Believe me, I wish the opposite.

According to this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053137/  Australia would be the last to go. Good movie if you have never seen it. "On the beach".

Lovin the highs and lows here in the speculation thread. I'm talking moods not price.

Waht do you expect?

This is a thread about price, and if the price goes down the mood goes down, ... vice versa

You cannot relate, mate?

No I can't relate. I'm all happy. Why the sadness? We all made money didn't we? Now we can rinse and repeat.

Not everyone made money, and some folks bet in the wrong direction, so they have more panic.

There are ways to protect your holdings of course, but not everyone is able to carry out a plan that ends up being profitable.

empathy is sometimes needed, even when we are on the internet, because we come from a lot of perspectives and people participate here in part to attempt to figure out different perspectives about a topic that is of interest (BTC price speculation) which are certainly abundant.

I was insensitive. For that I apologize. Bitcoin can be a mean bitch.
94  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2017, 03:54:19 AM
I know I was willing the price to come down a bit so I could buy more Cheap CoinsTM but I've caught too many falling knives already since this drop started.... if this thing doesn't stop falling soon I will be in the red  Cry

Sometimes you don't want your wish to come true.. because once it goes in a certain direction, it can be difficult to get it to stop...

You got that right.

Not a good idea to buy when its dumping ... duh. This isn't a dip this is a friggen DUMP.

Hands up who knew this wasn't just a dip when we first dropped below 1,000?

This is bitcoin. A major dump was expected anytime when it reached those highs over a grand.  You are playing with fire trading at the highs. I don't do it because I suck at it. And ya ... I've been burned too.

Same old same old. Big pump. Big dump.

History repeats itself yet again. So what now? A few dead cat bounces and back down to $600 by June?

See you next winter for our annual pump.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: January 05, 2017, 05:45:45 PM
We need to be a little realistic here.  How long did it take Ethereum to go from concept to release? A couple years? That was with a shitload of help. Even now, eth is still flawed.

So, one man alone has a monumental task ahead to deliver something truly revolutionary.  iamnotback might be bat shit crazy enough to pull it off.

We need to be more supportive instead of dragging him down.

I hate ICOs too. iamnotback has been around here for years and is well known. I would support his ICO depending on conditions and details.

How much money is thrown away here regularly on unknown, scammy developers?
