You're no fun at all.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I just had a successful bitcoin withdrawl from GOX! on: June 25, 2011, 03:47:48 PM
Seems to have worked!

EDIT: My bitcoin client says it is still unconfirmed.  But the transaction had to go out onto the network.  So I know GOX did their part at least.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MT Gox is up! on: June 25, 2011, 03:40:36 PM
I notice that the 'USD in your account' is set to $0, even though there is some money at the top of the screen.  That means we can't put in orders until market opening.

Damn.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Its 15:20 GMT Mt Gox where are you...? on: June 25, 2011, 03:34:30 PM
Don't just reload the Mt. Gox support page over and over again, that won't work ...

Enter the mtgox.com domain but make sure to use https:// and then press CTRL + F13 and the new site will launch.
Oh man, I don't have an F13.  Does that mean my computer is GOXed?
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Its 15:20 GMT Mt Gox where are you...? on: June 25, 2011, 03:28:59 PM
What now......?
I think that Tux is in such a panic now, he won't even update the site with another delay.

This whole thing is so stupid. And completely self-inflicted. No need for it at all. It's a situation of their own making.

A prescription:
  • stop announcing stupid launch dates and times you have no idea whether you'll make or not
  • provide periodic updates throughout every day - every 3 hours or so.
  • only when everything is under control and you can CLEARLY see the finish line, announce a launch giving everyone 24 hours notice.
Sounds reasonable to me.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox me baby! Where are you? on: June 25, 2011, 03:25:02 PM
The problem isn't the time, it is the constant pushing back.  If they would have just said 2 weeks at first, people would have grumbled, but that would have been it.

They keep saying you only get one hour after opening, so everyone has to keep showing up at their deadlines to make sure their buy/sell orders are in place before the market opens.

If they would just change that to 24 hours, people wouldn't be as grouchy.

88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Something I don't get about GOX. on: June 25, 2011, 03:16:47 PM
There is something about their announcement that has been bothering me.  They said that their site wasn't hacked, but an auditor 'lost' the password hashes.  If that is correct, then why does their site say that it has vastly improved security?  If their site was already secure, why do they need to 'vastly improve' the security?

It sounds like a tacit admition to the sql injection rumors floating around.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox me baby! Where are you? on: June 25, 2011, 03:12:11 PM
What happens next?
We get another update saying they are delaying again.  But only after the deadline.  They couldn't just post it before then.  That would be too easy for the rest of us.

What excuse now? Any guess...
Probably something about the accounting numbers still don't add up.

Looks like we have been GOXed yet again.  How many GOXes should one have to go through, before it is cruel and unusual?
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox again? on: June 25, 2011, 03:02:36 PM
http://www.mtgox.com

See for yourself. Wink
'cept it is mtcox.com.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: T-35 minutes. Will we be GOXed again? on: June 25, 2011, 02:52:23 PM
I predict... more delays
Yeah, why don't they just push it out 2 more days, and then have some breathing room to test everything.
You don't have to open the market right after opening your site.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / T-35 minutes. Will we be GOXed again? on: June 25, 2011, 02:24:40 PM
You think they solved their accounting problems in 12 hours flat?
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll - Mt. Gox Rollback - We Finally see our Accounts on: June 25, 2011, 02:20:28 PM
Good perspective to have Bind, I think you're right on this one.

Any specific questions you want answered?  We're going to try again to get Magical Tux onto the show, so tell us what you need to know.
Yeah, tell him that it would be a good idea to allow 24 hours from account opening time to market opening time.  That way the primary concern of most people (withdrawing funds) can be accomplished during this 24 hour period.  And it gives time for other to put buy/sell orders into the system without having to be johnny-on-the-spot during the one hour period he is proposing.  People are having to schedule their lives around the one hour window that keeps changing anyway.

Everything is correct for me.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX opening - GOXED on: June 25, 2011, 04:22:19 AM
My issue isn't really with the time to get it back up... it's that they keep saying they're delaying it.  Why not just say we'll open in a week, and then open 3 days later and look like heroes?
I agree.  People are arranging the life around their deadlines.  So just say a week, and then even if you get done sooner, you will just have more time to test your system.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that the adjective 'goxed' will enter the general vernacular now? on: June 25, 2011, 04:19:46 AM
We might regret this if they make a strong comeback.
Not really.  It could still mean screwing up even if they get their shit together in the next 12 hours.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that the adjective 'goxed' will enter the general vernacular now? on: June 25, 2011, 04:19:09 AM
I think its more a verb.

As in I just got goxed in the ass.
You are right, I changed the title to verb.
