You all forget the biggest advantage of all (for Gox): If time matters, if you have it @ GOX then you can trade it against $. If you have to send them first to GOX then can be too late. Also they have two factor authentification and other security functions. I think they have learnt their lesson - if they fail they loose trust and can't make money as now.

LTC works most times quiet nice, PPC and TRC worked very unstable in the last days. I don't care about the website (most times), but when the miner looses its connection and is sometimes unable to "sync" again then it really sucks (this happened to me related to PPC and TRC).

|
|
Again @coinotron: Do you plan to upgrade your hardware? If yes, when...? It doesn't makes sense when sometimes 50% of the day mining isn't possible.

FYI
Recent increase of hashrate in PPC pool overloaded server. I had to suspend automatic payouts. I'm testing new payout solution. Hopefully payouts will be enabled in 1-2 hours.
I'm sorry for all inconvenience caused by this outage.
Thanks for the information. Would be nice if you can post such news before you are changing your productive system. No bad feelings but there isn't a lot information and we have to plan a little bit.

The pool is also for TRC very unstable. Hash values are jumping... And the website itself and the pool is very often unreachable atm. I can accept that there is a problem every few days, but we pay fees can't we expect a little bit stability?
When the network retargets itself to difficulty 3, I expect it's hard for the server to keep up It would be a start to host the website and the pools on a different server. This aren't huge investments. An advanced solution would be multiple servers, each one per currency. If they (or he?) want to be a general pool, he should have the power to handle the traffic, otherwise it doesn't make any sense and people will switch to another server (if there will be one really working...).

The LTC part is up again.

I don't understand why Gox didn't put up a statement on their page that trade was suspended the next x hours until they got it sorted. Their dashing for bringing trading up asap without having isolated the problem made them take another round of DDossing. They should also have posted that they have a kill switch on the trading engine that would render any account hacking attempts void and peoples accounts were safe. Like a proper exchange.
Also when they came back up, there was a period of 10-15 minutes where some were able to trade and others not.
So yeah, they could have handled this better, but that's easy for me to state in hind sight. They were clearly panicking, trying to fix this as fast as possible, and actually adding to panic by being officially silent for most of the trading day.
I understand why, but try keeping a good reputation isn't a valid reason for me. If a lot people know that Gox is under DDOS to push the the USD/BTC exchange rate down and gives the attackers the possibility to buy BTC for cheap, would stabilize the market because people get the reason and don't think that Gox is very unstable or there is a crash ahead.

so cointron is down...and i was thinking something wrong on my side...
Only their LTC part seems to be down (again while still taking hash power).
|
|
|
But pool is still taking the hash power (was about 3x more about 30mins ago, I think it gets it from the already connected miners, reconnecting isn't possible atm):

Page was quiet unstable in the last two days, but mining worked without any problems. Now it seems to be that LTC mining @ Coinotron is completely down:
|
|
|
Related to LTC: What's up with coinotron now? When I get up, I noticed that since a few hours no new block was solved. My miners where mining under fullspeed, but no LTC rewards. Then I stoped my miners and tried to get them online again, but now it's impossible to reconnect with the miners. What's happening?

I get "502 bad gateway"
You have to reload a few times. It's working here. I think they have issues with their load balancer.

|
|
Gox is up again, but it's cracy how much such a short downtime can influence the actual usd exchange rate.

Eine offizielle Stellungsnahme wäre wohl seitens Mt. Gox durchaus angebracht.
