And now deepbit is approaching 50% again... people, why do you let this happen? Join some small pool, accept the variance, enjoy the better stability and lower stale rates, profit.
82  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Protecting Pools from DDoS Attacks on: July 05, 2011, 03:15:45 PM
Like I said...  it's a content distribution network which helps you by distributing static content across multiple servers. Won't help with the getwork-queries which have to be real-time. Unfortunately.
83  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, API, 0% fee, SUPER LOW STALES) on: July 05, 2011, 03:04:46 PM
1.5 GH/s - btw, why does your signature say "mining at EclipseMC"?
84  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, API, 0% fee, SUPER LOW STALES) on: July 05, 2011, 02:48:59 PM
I'm all in... switched to poclbm which has integrated failover, so no more need for the mining proxy. Absolutely stable and stale rate near to 0%.

Absolutely the best pool for me so far! Now I just hope that this very long current round is going to be over soon.

Bin hier bei 670W und 1,46 GH, also rund 459W/GH. Zahle allerdings sogar noch etwas mehr für den Strom (vorbildlich: Ökostrom  Tongue)

that answer might have never have come because cloudlfare is more or less useless (at least from my experience and what i have heard).....
useless? good enough for lulzsec plus 40 thousand sites http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2011/06/22/lulzsec-fuels-growth-at-cloudflare.html
it's a content distribution network, so you probably won't be able to use it to handle getwork-requests  Roll Eyes
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: an idea for easy two-factor authentication (Attn: Mt.Gox) on: July 05, 2011, 08:11:41 AM
One-time-passwords don't need to be that strong.

The cheapest way is to periodically print out and mail sheets of indexed TAN to the user. Make it four digit index and six number passcode or something like that and it's plenty strong and still easy to use.

Never really saw the need for electronic gadgets to do the above.
International mailings are slow, expensive and barely reliable. This is something your local bank might be able to do, but not Mt. Gox or Tradehill.

http://www.duosecurity.com/

2 factor auth services.
"Looks" nice, but you'd always have to rely on this third-party. A really secure alternative would be this: https://www.privacyfoundation.de/crypto_stick/crypto_stick_english/ (or generally any other smartcard-based authentication). Major drawback: relatively large one-time cost (49€ for the crypto stick, even more for smartcard + reader).

Give me a shout when the pool can handle getworks from the mining proxy, I can offer about 1.4 GH/s Smiley

Works perfectly for me, although only slight increase in performance (371 -> 373 MH/s). But I had the previous patch already in place. Thanks!

wow, sounds good! I'll jump over to bit pit as soon as you got it working!
93  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, API, 0% fee, SUPER LOW STALES) on: July 03, 2011, 03:44:43 PM
I'm using the mining proxy by cdhowie (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=5506.0) and can't get a connection to bit pit. Works fine with other pools (BTC Guild, MtRed, ...)
94  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Tired of stale shares? on: July 03, 2011, 03:09:10 PM
Well, I might give this a shot in the near future as I'm kind of fed up with the bad stability of other pools. You might should add some more information to the website about how to connect (especially which port), as this can only be found in your thread in this forum. Also, for small pools it seems crucial to implement some kind of hopping-protection in my opinion.

EDIT: nevermind, found the port when adding new workers.

I'm still waiting my unpaid EU balance. The US one was received promptly when Luke-Jr said it would, but nothing yet for EU.

Check with your university to see if they have some kind of site license.
+1! if you're not a student, maybe you know someone who is. most universities have free access to "MSDN Academic Alliance" which gives you free windows 7 licenses!

Still waiting for my unpaid rewards from EU - any updates?

99  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: is there a miner for the iphone or mobile device? on: July 01, 2011, 12:10:13 PM
Your loss because of accelerated aging of your hardware (when mining with a laptop/mobile phone) will be much higher than any rewards you could expect from these 1-5 MHash/s. Even if it's not your own hardware, why even bother for a few cents/month? I wonder why people can't just leave it alone if they are not able to set up a rig.
