The faucet
What do you mean? Is not very understanding, is to belong to promotion platform of the coin?
It is a way to distribute coins to more people. A donation, a giveaway of small amounts of the coin. It is called "faucet" because coins "drip" from like the way water can drip in small drops from a faucet. Most of the coins have such faucets. Yes, it is a way to promote the coin. It is a way for a guy who has never heard of the coin to start collecting it. It is way faster to mine the coin, but for people that have no hardware to mine it, faucets are good start. |

Yes, smile is right -- the coin has to be in the hands of as many people as possile, otherwise its future is endangered, because it is easier to manipulate by pump&dump. So our priority before hitting exchanges is to distribute as much as possible. I see 1Lef has started campaigns on the giveaway forums. I also made some steps to approach several multi-faucet owners, to have a XDC faucet included. I'll report here when there are news. We have a bounty for logo that should be attractive enough to designers, but seems like we have not enough exposire in the forum here and the designers just don't notice this logo contest. I'll add a separate XDC logo contest thread as soon as I find some free time. And we have to start massive promotion everywhere and with all the means available -- giveaways, contests, new threads etc. Everyone of us can do these, if one has the time and the desire. Let's not put everything on 1Lef's shoulders, he's done all of it basically alone, from the start. So everyone that likes the XDC coin, I urge you to contact faucets, create and distribute coins on giveaways (if you have enough coins), search for designers, help make logos, posters, paper wallets... and all kinds of cool stuff that use the car related visual designs. We could also contact automobile forums, especially if they are Xedos or Mazda related. So anyone could help. Network hashrate is about 14 MHs, which is basically nothing. New blocks are discovered, 4 or 5 per day and from the two pools only one is up (ink.plasr.com) and there are no miners with shares and blocks -- all this means, IMHO, that somebody is solomining it. And solomining it heavily.
Seems that someone is solomining this, using GPU miner with modified software. I really don't see the point for doing this -- if a coin is concentrated in the hands of just few people, if there are no faucets, no way to get new coins and it is listed at only one exchange... the only price one could get is 1 satoshi per coin. (Until the exchange kicks it out eventually) And that is pathetic...
Either opensource the GPU miner or persuade the dev to change the diff, so that people may get some coins...
Economy is about moving the money around, not keeping them like some kind of collectable item... Like some kind of fetish item...

I meant the new logo -- the one with the cars inside. It is good for the logo to have cars, because it is a coin for the car enthussiasts. Not that the rev-meter is not cool, it is cool too. I tried too to do some GIMP magic, but I'm not a designer... We need a designer here, one that likes cars would be best, I think. Anyway, if you are trying to choose between the old black rev-meter and the new logo (the first one, with the cars and brighter colors), I would vote for the new one. Because them cars |

Hey everybody, Just a quick update about http://skc.plasr.com pool -- last week there were some minor issues with strange hashrate being reported on the dashboard page (i.e. it rported lower values). Otherwize everything worked OK, the shares and rewards were distributed all right. It was just a "visual" issue that MethMatician found on the dashboard. Now for several days everything is back to normal and the dash dials are OK Everyone is welcome, happy mining! Good stuff! Have you thought about making an announcement for your pool? Thanks! Yes the darker one is a bit too dark... although previously I liked the first logo, with the clean rev-meter... The visual idea is cool, we just need a designer to put some spell on it One more thing -- the logo should be recognisable when scaled down. When it is in smaller sizes (icons, buttons etc.), it still has to be instantly recognisable. |

I think I know what this qoinpro thing is now -- they say they give free coins every 24 hours, but in fact they give only 1 satoshi for 24 hours... And the minimum for withdrawal is... 5500 satoshi... Upon registration they load the account with 250 sat., but you still have to accumulate 5500-250=5250 sat, which is... 5250 days, or somewhere around 15 years....... for referrals they give you bonus in percents above the dayly 1 sat, but even if one has hundreds of referrals it would still take years to withdraw the minimum... I didn't make any calculations, but I guess it would be years.
So I think it's useless -- it is better to have a real faucet or some other way to distribute the money to the car enthussiasts around the world.

I just found QoinPro, they claim they give free coins (BTC, LTC, FTC and some others) every day. Does anybody know something more about this site? Is it good to try to promote XDC to them? Is it some kind of faucet... or is it a Ponzi scheme? It's a referral link I'm giving here, but I'm not ready to recommend them so not really telling you to register there... Looks strange, but is it a scam or not? I've searched through the forum but almost all I found were referral links with not much content around them. Can't figure out what's the business plan underneath. If it is not a scam, it would be good to see XDC on a bigger faucet. But then again, I guess any faucet would want to see the coin hitting an exchange before adding it... Whatcha think? |
