After a draw between Real and Bayern, mv1986 and me have four more different answers at the end of the week. I already lost a point for the tennis question because I didn't wait for the Zverev game to end. He lost straight 2-0 against Cerundolo. I knew it's a risk to go with him, but I didn't expect him to lose so soon. I expected him to battle against Alcaraz and somehow win against him.

It was a strange game as it was the team that did not have control over the game that scored the goals. Of course I was hoping for the Bayern win when they scored their second goal, but I somehow knew that it wouldn't be the end of the game. Kim Min-Jae seldomly plays so much bullshit in a single game. The way he left the own third to run after Vinicius Junior to then get overrun by him was quite amateurish. Same applies to the penalty he was responsible for. How did he think to get away with that tackle? Of course Rodrygo will draw the penalty from that foul. Anyone here also agrees that Neuer's movement on the line was pretty bad when Vini took the penalty? The penalty was weak, but Neuer was literally lying in the opposite corner already before the ball was even hit...

The questions Trofo and cryptofrka came up with have been really tricky again. There are now so many small margins within a single question. I like it, but it really takes some thought to make up one's mind. Can Barcelona score two goals? Yes and slackovic would instantly be wrong with under 3.5. But at the same time I thought that Girona to win a draw while going over 3.5 is very tricky, too.

The tennis question is a tough one and as cryptofrka has said here in another post, it was so close and I was waiting like everyone else to submit my answer. Obviously, it would have made a big difference for me as I picked him as a finalist. In the end I had to take a gamble as I submitted when the game was not yet concluded.

Liverpool question is tough as well and formula 1 is not really my field of expertise. But good to see though that slackovic and I have different answers.

@slackovic now we have to wait until Saturday to see some more relevant results, good luck! Wink

True, but doesn't mean that the Bundesliga wouldn't need long term competition among the teams in the league itself. Europa League and Champions League is all good, but as you can tell yourself it gets boring when one team dominates so hard. Dortmund wasted it last year, but even if they won it, it is still no competition. Bayern needs competition!

Honestly, Bayern Munich in the previous seasons could not be compared with the actual season whether in the quality of the players nor in coaches tactics.
Lewandowski departure among others affected a lot Bayern Munich and even Harry Kane arrival failed to fully replace him.
In addition to that, Xabi Alonso drove Bayer Leverkusen very well and the title was very much merited by this team.
I think Bayern Munich don't really have much drop in quality of the squad. The departure of Lewandowski has been well-replaced by Harry Kane, He has done his job very well to ensure their Bayern's productivity. His goal-scoring ability and statistics seems quite similar to what Lewandowski produced during his time  at Bayern.

The only aspect that Bayern experiencing a quality drop is the coach. Tuchel may be better than Julian Nagelsmann, but he is not better than some previous Bayern's manager. The remarkable campaign of Leverkusen should taken into account to judge this season's Bayern, because Leverkusen being excellence with their unbeaten record put more pressure for Bayern, and made Bayern having almost impossible to match their run of the season.

Point is that Leverkusen was on a different level. I have no idea whether they will be able to repeat that, but fact is that this performance was so out of this world that I can't think of a situation where they will repeat it. If it is the case, I am the first person to salut!
84  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 28, 2024, 11:41:00 PM
La Liga is over. Some people are still saying that everything is theoretically possible, but the truth is that Real could step up their game every minute if they need to. They can now play a very relaxed season and if they were to lose like two games in a row, they just send their best eleven and win the remaining games...

Real Madrid needs only two victories in the remaining five games to be declared champions and this regardless of the others results. Even a win and a draw could theoretically be sufficient for them to lift the title without taking on consideration the others. You could imagine if the other teams missed points then Real Madrid will be the winners without much efforts. They need their full concentration for UEFA Champions League semifinals anyway Wink

Yeah, but they probably don't even need the two victories. It would mean that Barcelona has to deliver and what is the chance that they do? Xavi has been trying his best, but the truth is that they are not up to the game that they should be. It is still subpar what they are delivering and I think that it will remain like that for a pretty long time. Real Madrid is Real Madrid, but Barcelona is not the same club they used to be in the past.
85  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 28, 2024, 10:48:54 PM

This odds may be changing at the middle of this game. A difficult match for juventus. Still hope juventus to get three points from acmilan or it's potentially to leave from the UCL spot race.
In today's match I actually expected more from Milan because their performance is still quite better than Juventus but with what they showed in this match I think my expectations are still too far for Milan.

They were really monotonous and Juventus played home with greater enthusiasm which made Milan unable to develop their game during the 90 minutes even from the few chances they created in today's match none of which really threatened Juventus.
Goalless ended the match and to be honest I was a little demoralized because aside from my expectations of Milan being a little bigger in this match I also lost my bet even though the odds were quite good.
I think that Milan is declining in form gradually, because they lost their Europa game to Roma home and away. After that defeat which took Roma to qualify for the semifinals, Milan have not been able to maintain their performance. This is the same thing that is happening to Liverpool too.

I would ha e said that maybe Juventus are ljckj g form and that was why they were able to play Man that way, but after considering their performance in Europa against Roma till date, you will notice it that they are declining in performance.
But that should be the benchmark that they must be stronger than before and in yesterday's match they did not do that because indeed clubs like Juventus alone who this season always have problems in finishing can control the match and even play better than them.
Not that I want to say Juventus are weak in this case but the fact that Milan this season is better than Juventus is a fact that cannot be avoided but in yesterday's match what happened was the opposite.

Although indeed this is still a good result because Milan still remains comfortable in its position but in this case their style of play really does not show that they are a big club which makes this matter must be corrected more quickly by Milan .

The benchmark for Juventus has been set when they were excluded from all UEFA competitions and were forced to show their best... But they didn't...

I thought that they would try everything to recover from the bad news and maybe win Serie A, or at least set a sign to show that they are back. But my feeling is that they failed.
86  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 28, 2024, 10:39:30 PM
Honestly this "racially attack black players" thing is getting out of hand in Spain, we all remember it was done to Vinicious Jr. and it was even said that Vini could leave Real Madrid just because of that. If these fans are not worried about doing it in front of the TV where they are all recorded and they know that nothing will happen to them if they do this with 50 thousand other people and 20 cameras taking their shot, then imagine what they could do when these players are all out on the public and there is nobody taking their video.

Spain has to do something about this racism because if this keeps up then slowly but surely we are going to see black players not preferring to go to Spain and Spanish football will take a big hit due to this problem. I am sure Spanish people are great people, but when it's about football, they turn to mad men.
The authorities in La Liga still don't seem to be able to make this disappear from healthy competition because racist words or even racist chants always happen and it's not just to one player because it was Vini who was used as racist material and there was even a firm warning but it didn't have any impact considering that yesterday for the Atletico match the same thing happened.
That's clearly a shame for a big competition and La Liga should consider a bigger punishment so that people like this are deterred but sometimes La Liga is slow to respond to this.

It should be realized that La Liga is one of the big domestic competitions in Europe but with racism against players that cannot be changed it is clearly a little tarnished this big league, I think for the problem of racism La Liga should learn more from the EPL about this.

But on the other hand for the problem of racism yesterday I really like the response given by Nico Williams in this match. He is still very young but the response given is quite calm and he even managed to silence the people who were racist against him with a very good goal and celebration.

La Liga is over. Some people are still saying that everything is theoretically possible, but the truth is that Real could step up their game every minute if they need to. They can now play a very relaxed season and if they were to lose like two games in a row, they just send their best eleven and win the remaining games...
87  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 28, 2024, 10:33:22 PM
Both teams won tonight and Arsenal and M.City got 3 points.

Arsenal played really well against Tottenham. They made it 3-0 in the first half, but conceded 2 goals in the second half.

M.City had a very comfortable win against Nottingham Forest.   M.City won the game 2-0.

The championship race is between Aarsenal and M.City in the Premier League.
There is very little time left until the champion is announced.

Yes, it it is exactly how I thought it would be. Manchester City in the perfect moment is showing their greatness and my point is that they are not going to lose a single game, let alone drop any points and they do let all other teams understand that to raise pressure. Crazy that they are out of the Champions League as I am sure that everyone would have liked to watch them play. Well, best team in my eyes and still can get eliminated.
88  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 28, 2024, 10:28:43 PM
The Mbappe era is coming to an end at PSG next season. Mbappe, who has achieved success with PSG, will continue his career at Real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in the history of football. It's an extraordinary situation for his career and I'm sure he will already be a legend at Real Madrid.
But Mbappe's departure from PSG could cause the French team to lose momentum next season. PSG are on the lookout for his replacement and have moved to sign Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal. Lamine Yamal is a top talent and PSG are about to sign a player who may be more valuable than Mbappe.
Adding Mbappe to Real Madrid is huge. The player excels at PSG, but his legacy at Real Madrid is altogether another. I see why he'd like a move that makes history. His moment is right: new league, new challenge, chance to push himself further. PSG could replace him with Yamal? The play is captivating. Though it weakens Barcelona, it's about the long game. This Yamal youngster is a marvel with untapped potential. Could he replace Mbappe? Perhaps. However, sometimes the future is stronger than the present. PSG is betting on it, and I understand why. A calculated risk that could pay off handsomely
Currently the rumors about Mbappe are a little weaker than before but indeed for the issue of Madrid, Mbappe and PSG I think it will continue to be linked especially now that the season has begun to enter the phase where the transfer season will reopen which makes this matter will continue to live later.

Now looking at what happened actually quite a lot of people are sure that Mbappe will be in Madrid next season but I as a fan of Madrid do not want to think that it will definitely happen because even though it is likely to happen but Mbappe always disappoints because not only one season Mbappe has always been juxtaposed with Madrid but in the last few seasons it's just that it always fails because of the drama he always makes which makes me quite fed up with this news.
Now the end of the season is in sight and actually at this time the decision is in Mbappe's hands whether he really wants to be in Madrid or just wants to see an unreasonable offer from PSG as a condition of extending his contract.

The rumors might get calmer, but in fact they are not! Mbappe, that is my opinion, is going to Real Madrid and that is the place where he can earn all the rewards he deserves. Everyone like to watch him play and everyone knows that he is in the wrong place. So ya, his time has come to go to a team to win a lot and he will be the best himself we have ever seen, like the explosion at the World Cup 2018 when he destroyed Argentina.
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: April 28, 2024, 10:22:28 PM
I think maybe Bayern's mistake was to send Nagelsmann off the team. Nagelsmann was playing well in the team. Maybe Nagelsmann would have been better this year, but the difficult decision to send him away from Bayern Munich brought a steady decline for them. Tuchel was not as successful. Considering what we talked about today, I think Tuchel's decision was wrong. The league championship, which has not been lost for a long time, slipped away this year.

The league would have been lost last year if not for the carelessness of Borussia Dortmund, I agree that sacking Nagelsmann was wrong, he would have been given the chance to complete last season and maybe this one. Bayer Leverkusen lifting the league wasn’t because Bayern was in decline, Twas based on their tremendous efforts and good coaching tactics deployed by Xavi Alonso. Even if Bayern were in form, this Leverkusen team would have still won the league because they didn’t leave room for slipping points. You can blame Tuchel but it was just Bayer Leverkusen and Alonso’s time. They can focus all their energy now on the Champions League, I think they might still have a chance despite form.

I am not sure what to think of Nadal's win, but he clearly wanted to make up for his loss against De Minaur in the last match. I can't really tell where to put De Minaur at the moment, but for Nadal, he is the kind of guy who could tremendously benefit from such a victory. He is really this dude who soaks up the energy from wins like that. Interesting things going on in Madrid. Loyal fans probably going for Nadal to win the tournament, but ya. This could be the one push he needs to be prepared for the French Open and I am looking forward to everyone's opinion here if Nadal were to win the Madrid Open. What do you think?

Seems like Trofo wake up, and with a super bold prediction took the first exact scores of the round with a 3-2 in Bochum favor.
That was a master move on my part, now if I only continue with few more this week maybe I will get back in striking distance of top positions.

Started good in the pool but been dropping bit by bit all the time.

It was indeed and before the last goal was scored, I was about to post here that things are looking well for you! Wink But then in that second so to say, Kramaric scored the 3-2 and then I saw the overall win for Bochum at risk. But yeah, I am sure if someone goes for a 3-2, you are probably the only one getting full points. Well played then!

Leverkusten - Stuttgart: I am seriously still undecided. I put in my pick just to have put in something. But I am not sure. Not asking for advice here, but I am sure that some of you guys are on the fence with this one, too.

How does the yellow cap thing work for the final round on Supberbru? Is it semifinals + final?

Correct! Yellow Cap only works for semis + final I believe.

But we will only award the top 3, so even if we have more than 3 yellow cappers, we'll only take the top 3 as listed on Superbru as it counts historical H2Hs on tiebreakers.

Edit: Actually I just checked and I'm not sure now... I always assumed its semis+final but Superbru seems to have arranged it differently. Don't worry, I'll manually decide points for these matches if necessary. Good ask, I assumed too much haha.

Errrmmm... Cheesy In other words, the rule is fixed that points from semifinals and final will be summed up for everyone and then you do the maths and check the h2h in order to decide who's the yellow cap winner (in case there are more than 3 players with yellow cap potential)?

I think this is all that' relevant for everyone to know: semifinals + final will be counted as one round. You sort out the h2h for yellow caps if necessary.

De Minaur vs Rafael Nadal rematch tomorrow, I knew both of them would meet each, so one definitely has to leave before the deadline given, I thought about deeply and knew I could have chosen to play it safe by going for a Yes, Yes or very safe with a No, No, the latter being the better choice because should in case whoever wins tomorrow then losses out on Sunday match, that way, I would get both right and there is no way I would get both wrong with it, but instead I chose to go aggressive with a Nadal - Yes, De Minaur - No. I do hope this doesn't comeback to haunt me  Lips sealed Lips sealed

I was thinking about the same, but then I checked who the opponent could be in the next round, which as far as I know will be played on Sunday before the deadlines finishes. I did pick No, No for Nadal and De Minaur, but I knew that while it is kind of playing it safe, the winner of Nadal - De Minaur will then be up against Tiafoe. On a good day Tiafoe is probably able to beat an out of shape Nadal or De Minaur. But it wasn't an easy one at all as Nadal now has had his first tournament and I am wondering whether he can now significantly step up his game.

Sorry to burst your bubble Tiafoe is not that guy, if you ask me, he's being getting his ass over and again whopped by Ben Shelton. He's not going to be anywhere near a match for Nadal, nor De Minaur. Tiafoe is actually one of the most overrated tennis players in my candid opinion.

I'm so looking forward to the Nadal vs De Minaur game today, I doubt I'll be missing a single second of it.

I get you, but my point was if I play the "Yes, Yes" or "No, No" option, like some people did because they knew they would get one right for sure, I can as well go for "No, No" and still have a shot at the second player getting knocked out as well. When I go with "Yes, Yes", I am guaranteed getting rid of one potential correct answer. I agree that the chances are very low Tiafoe is going to make it far in the tournament and I know how he has been doing lately, but "No, No" still makes more sense than "Yes, Yes".

Disaster in the last 3/4 match day and I'm out of the top 5. I completely blame mv1986 for this disaster because dude was jealous of my performance  Angry I'll make a come back.

That are some mean accusations! Cheesy I was indeed mentioning that Little Mouse did very well, but the round with 6 points was digging a big hole into the outstanding performance.

But KTChampions was averaging some solid numbers in all the last rounds. He never really fell behind. Lemming also crushed everyone with his 24 points round. Top 5 is now pretty much out of reach for me, but hey Little Mouse you can still make it Wink

5 games to go and 21st position on Superbru is 3 points away from 10th position. It's going to be some exciting last CL weeks.
