81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto security tools you need before farming airdrops on: October 26, 2023, 06:58:57 PM
Because of the trend of retroactive drops rewarding big amount of airdrops to early users over the years, we're poised to farm in both testnet and mainnet without any promises or guarantees for a future airdrop.

You can be qualified for a big potential airdrop by just minting an NFT (Aptos), history of transactions from start date to end date (e.g., Arbitrum, Optimism, etc.), being an early testnet user (Sei, Celestia, etc.), using a DeFi platform in the early goings (e.g., Uniswap, Shapeshift, etc.), playing a game during the early stages (e.g., Axie Infinity, Big Time, etc.) and more.

As farming airdrops are a thing nowadays, the hackers are seeing an opportunity to drain our hard-earned time and money to . But there are ways for us to prevent from getting our wallets compromised.

Most of us are using Metamask which is an EVM-compatible non-custodial hot wallet where only the user with the seed phrase or private key has the access. However, Metamask is vulnerable towards hacks such as sweeper bots or any other malware.

Therefore, here are the tools that I use base on my experience in protecting our EVM-compatible non-custodial hot wallets from getting drained:

1) Rabby Wallet - An open source wallet browser extension that provides additional layer for security measures that supports Metamask and other EVM-compatible wallets with smooth multi-chain experience without having to switch network manually and risk scanning feature for pre-transactions
2) Revoke Cash - Revoke permissions from suspicious approvals and supports multi-chain with a browser extension that prevents you from signing malicious contracts.
3) De.Fi - A crypto antivirus platform with shield, scanner and revoking features.
4) Wallet Guard - A browser extension that protects you by successfully detecting a phishing site that you're trying to access and has simulation feature when doing a transaction.
5) Pocket Universe - Another browser extension that protects you from Web3 scams and has up to $2,000 insurance for each transaction.
6) Avast Premium Security - An all-in-one antivirus for your desktop or mobile that protects you from malware, ransomware, phishing and suspicious sites and more. It's a paid subscription (w/ free 1-month trial) but it's worth the investment.

These tools above are meant especially for those who cannot afford to have a hardware wallet like Ledger Nano S, Trezor, etc.

In your Metamask or any EVM-compatible hot wallet, make sure that you make a habit of disconnecting and revoking permissions to specific sites after you're done using their platform. And please, use a burner wallet for crypto airdrops and not the main one where you have big amount of assets in your portfolio.

But the most important of all is you. If you do not know how to do your due diligence and common sense, you would still be vulnerable towards these hacks.

There are cases where the hacker might persuade you to turn off your antivirus or any 3rd party layer because of statements like "we're still in the process of making our website reliable, etc.". They are very skilled and creative to persuade us to do this and do that by posting fake job opportunities, pretending to collaborate to KOLs and ambassadors, making a fake beta test game download and more.

Speaking of downloads, it is where I fall into their trap last year in which I have lost almost $20k in my assets combined. I make sure of not experiencing that again by utilizing these crypto security tools I have mentioned.

They think outside of the box and may do whatever it takes to penetrate our wallets without us knowing. However, we can also outsmart them by practicing due diligence, in-depth researching, second and third opinions, hesitancy, etc.

We're still a long way to go in terms of cybersecurity in the world of crypto and Web3, but at least these tools would surely help a lot to both beginners and the experienced.

P.S. Feel free to suggest other crypto security-related tools that I didn't mention on this thread that would also be very helpful to increase prevention from getting our assets drained.
82  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Kung focus sa growth ng company or project dapat ganun din sa security on: October 26, 2023, 03:14:23 PM
Masyado malayo pa tayo ata when it comes sa cybersecurity. Ito talaga dapat ang isa sa mga pinaka importante na priorities na gagawin nila to further grow their company at project

As much na mga companies are trying their best na mangin secured ang platform para sa lahat, parang one step ahead palagi itong mga hackers.

Pero syempre hindi parang pabilisan ang nangyari dahil they also studied at nag trial and error for months about new ways na mag penetrate ng security system ng isang platform.

Ngayon nga meron na mga malware na parang nag successfully bypass ang detection ni antivirus natin. As in grabe walang awa itong mga hacker for their own pleasure at mangin mayaman para sa sarili nila.

One day maka-karma din sila. Maybe hindi sa pera, but sa iba’t ibang bagay na mas mahalaga sa kanila.

Dito sa crypto industry, uncertain pa ang cybersecurity nito dahil hanggang ngayon madami pa rin hacking incidents whether platform is centralized or decentralized.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If I have 1BTC So how did I use to invest in different Coins on: October 26, 2023, 03:01:03 PM
We all know that diversification is the key to lessen our disappointments if ever one or a few of the coins and tokens that we’re holding are going south.

If I were in your shoes, I would be focusing more on splitting my crypto investments into Bitcoin and Ethereum. They are the top two coins in the market today that are worth for the long run while the rest are just good for short or mid-term.

I usually do DCA with both of them last year with my extra “not beer” money. Although we can go with just Bitcoin alone, it’s just that we aim to have much lesser disappointment in case the market goes down which it’s essential for us diversifying our investments.

No disrespect to the rest of the altcoins though, but it is my feeling that both BTC and ETH are the best options that we can allocate some of our extra funds for the long run while waiting for the much-anticipated Bitcoin halving somewhere mid-2024.
84  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can it be real bull or just a temptation. on: October 26, 2023, 02:49:07 PM
Probably a bull trap in my own instinct.

Although we are happy to see that the market is rallying recently due to the $IBTC listing in DTCC, but I cannot say that this already kickstarted the “true” bull run. But of course, I can be wrong about my assumptions too.

We also all know that the emotions may got the best of us as FOMO mode kicks in. If I were to decide to buy at this current price, I may have to wait a bit when the market calmed down and the bulls are successfully maintaining the current support level. However, anything could happen at any moment as the market movement is totally out of out control.

No matter how skilled we are in our technical analysis, predictions, etc., the market is always the master of everything as it can go up or down without warning.

But if the bulls can’t keep up the pace, most likely we would be heading to a gradual healthy correction below $33k and that is where we see if the support level is so strong that the bears cannot penetrate. Time will tell and let’s see what happens in the coming days and weeks.
85  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The most risky adventure you must avoid on: October 26, 2023, 02:27:23 PM
Great clickbait title though  Grin

Anyways, the OP’s statement really makes sense. Although we do not advise that we should or shouldn’t risk getting into Bitcoin and altcoins, but we only have to edcuate the masses about the potential risks and learn how to manage them at the same time. In other words, only spend an amount that you can afford to lose.

But here’s the thing when it comes to my experience as I am not intending to encouraging nor discouraging everyone here to take risks.

Not taking risks has two sides. Either you are safe or have missed the opportunity. I have experienced that many times already for both scenarios because we may not know what would happen to the coin or token next in the coming days or so.

Last 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, I do have some BTC when it was still around $12k+. However, I have regretted my decision to sell all of my BTC for USDT as I see that the future is uncertain. But I was wrong. During mid-December, BTC skyrocketed and breached the then-ATH of beyond $20k and even up to $30k.

As the market went wild and was waiting for everything to bring it back down below $20k and not buying at the top, but it didn’t. It even went up all the way up to almost $70k+ and that is where I have missed the big opportunity.

Last year, I have decided to start DCA (dollar-cost averaging) on Bitcoin and Ethereum despite the FUD going on in Terra Luna, Celsius, FTX, etc. I held on to that and I am in profit right now as of this time of writing as BTC is recently rallying and now standing at $34k to $35k range.

The thing is that nobody knows what would happen next to the Bitcoin and crypto market in the coming days, weeks or so. Like I said, either we are “safe” or “missed the opportunity” as two scenarios of not risking. Same thing when it comes to taking risks either we make or break.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a career with bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 02:00:42 PM
One of my older brothers bought bitcoin with that money, instead of keeping it in the bank, about 6 months ago, the price of bitcoin was 24-25k+, and he bought about 1 BTC. The price of bitcoin has increased to 34K+. In just 6 months, he has made a profit of 9k+ dollars, which would have taken more than 20 years to get from the bank. This means that bitcoin can become a millionaire if people invest in it at the right time. I also bought some bitcoins myself and did it by withdrawing money from the bank. Success is not possible if you do not take risks in life. I know how hard it is to make money and if it is to sweat your head and work day and night, then it is worth it. And we can make a lot of income by buying or trading bitcoin with the right rules. I think bitcoin is a bright future for us.

I wouldn’t call Bitcoin a “career” though, but a gateway to multiple opportunities in this space if you know how to think outside of the box.

When Bitcoin touched down $10k for the first time, it was when I started to explore ways how to make a living with it. Although there’s no way that I can call Bitcoin a career, but it is one of the main reasons of who I am today.

As I got here for the first time and just learning, one of my so-called “mentors” of network marketing is strongly against it and told me not to fall into this “scam”. I understand that he is misinformed or not educated about Bitcoin.

As I have failed miserably in the network marketing industry and trying to pursue Bitcoin and the crypto world, it was the turning point of my life. Despite losing a lot of friends and colleagues due to calling me a “Bitcoin scammer” despite not scamming anyone in my life, a new door opens and I have never regretted my decision and it saved me from financial disaster.

Bitcoin lead me to multiple career opportunities ever since I began exploring this industry. I’ve had at least working in multiple projects where I am more specialized into content creation, marketing, event organizing, advisor, ambassador, KOL, etc. It gave me the opportunity to expand my skills and strengthening my portfolio.

I don’t know where would I be without getting in to Bitcoin. I missed the early boat last 2014 due to misunderstanding and misinformed, and 2017 is where I am finally enlightened. Thanks to Bitcoin, I can’t see myself leaving the crypto and Web3 industry.
87  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you must follow or use the services of trading signals providers on: October 25, 2023, 11:14:21 PM
Ain't a fan of trading signals as they are not accurate and doesn't guarantee anything at all.

At first I give it a try from a Polish colleague of mine who is a foreign expat. I visited his house in a subdivision within the central Philippines where I stayed at least a few times. He show me his trading room full of monitors where he's trading both stocks and crypto.

As I have learned about his trading signals and encourage me to try follow his calls, I give it a try provided that I only risk amounts that I can afford to lose for every call he had in his Telegram channel.

Based on my experience, it's not worth it. Despite I've won like 10% to 20% of the time, but overall I've lost a lot in my short and long positions of certain crypto pairings that he called. Then he even introduced me to his "VIP signals" in which I should be paying for a ridiculous monthly subscription or so.

That's where I slowly distance myself from him and never came back to visit him ever again every time I travel there to the central part of the Philippines.

No matter if it's free or paid signals, it won't promise or guarantee us profits. It's much better for us to self-learn about trading like reading and mastering the charts, TAs, etc.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 10:51:54 PM
I'm just fortunate that Philippines is one of the crypto-friendliest countries in the world.

However, taxing cryptocurrency earnings is one of the challenges that the government is facing these days. But for now, they just base our taxes in realized earnings where we cash out from crypto to fiat to any regulated bank, mobile bank, etc.

Let's say I am in a country where Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are illegal. The safest is to look for an underground community who does P2P transactions and also use a VPN when trading or interacting in any crypto exchange platform.

As I cannot see myself in leaving this emerging space, leaving the country would be a tough one and may take some time to change citizenship or so. On top of that, it would cost me a lot of money to process everything plus the board and lodging, everyday food, etc., that you need to sustain yourself.

If you look at China during the times they outlawed Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, there are still so many Chinese communities who are using Telegram and other apps to communicate and do crypto trading. It's all about doing whatever it takes even at this tough situation where crypto is outlawed like in Nepal, Egypt, etc.
89  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do Not Lose Everything Youve Gained in One day, or One Trade on: October 25, 2023, 10:33:24 PM
it is very important to be most careful while day trading when volatility is high, just as it has been in a few days now, this is specially for those who trade the futures market, trading futures is 10x more risky than trading spot, in futures trading, a simple miscalculation or failure to use proper risk management could lead to you being liquidated and all the money invested gone in a twinkle of an eye.

I am sharing this based on a story a friend of mine told me yesterday about how he lost crypto NetWorth in just one trade on one faithful day way back last upper year which is 2022.

According to him, he went long with all of his entire crypto NetWorth on an Altcoin because he was expecting the price of the altcoin to jump back up, after a news (which was later confirmed to be fake) caused the cryptocurrency to go down, but unfortunately for him, by the time he woke up from sleep the next day, on checking on this trade, he discovered that he had been completely liquidated because the price of the crypto currency ended  up dumping even harder than before.

Anxiety and fear made me deposit more money and he try to see if he could DCA the dip and make some of the money he lost back, and at a point, the price reached his take profit target but unfortunately, the take profit did not fill before the price of the altcoin shoot up again and at end, he was liquidated again.

This experience for me showed that he was really inexperienced when it comes to trading futures, but the truth is that, such a thing can happen to anyone in times when volatility is very high, when price runs become really high, it makes sure to liquidate both long and short position in a matter of seconds and minutes, most especially, if you open a position with a very high leverage.

Best to avoid trading futures in times like this, but if you must, make sure you know what you are doing, and use proper risk management like the stop loss and take profit features, also ensure you are only trading with an amount of money you can afford to lose, and remember not to put all your eggs in one basket.

Happy trading ya all.

Experienced or not, unexpected things would really happen as the market is always the master. But yes, experience has the edge when it comes to reading the TAs, possible scenarios, etc. However, there are no promises or guarantees that our analysis and/or insights would be accurate especially that the market is so highly volatile due to the recent rally.

If I were in his shoes to have lesser disappointment, it's much better to "avoid going all-in" with my hard earned savings, assets, etc. In my own insight about that guy you've mentioned, I think risk management is what he is lacking and was not prepared for this scenario.

I think he is also greedy by not setting the stop loss and take profit, but correct me if I'm wrong though. Always acknowledge the risks and managing at the same time would be very essential so that you won't run out of funds especially for emergency purposes.
90  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will $BTC soar beyond 35K or dip below? 🚀📉 on: October 25, 2023, 10:25:05 PM
Join the BTC discussion and let us know where you think it's headed! Will it skyrocket past 35K 🚀 or experience a dip 📉? Your insights matter, so cast your vote and share your crypto wisdom with the community! 📊

Although we could hope that BTC may cross past $35k, but this range of $34k to $34.8k seems crucial. As of this time of writing, we are now at $34.6k and it's good that the Bitcoin bulls are trying to maintain a strong support level to maintain in their favor while the bears are hoping for another big dip.

If the bulls cannot keep up at this range and may be losing their momentum, the support level may go down and that's the time the bears are gonna take advantage of the situation.

Time will tell on what would happen to the Bitcoin's price in the coming days. I just hope that this rally would keep up even just on a slow basis and not on a quick parabolic level that would eventually lead to a big quick correction as well.

As of now, the ETF is what keeps up the rally today and in order for the momentum to continue there might be another big news like those pending ETF applications other than Blackrock will also be approved by the US SEC in the future.
91  Local / Pilipinas / Re: PCSO Idinemanda Ang Isang Blockchain Company on: October 25, 2023, 10:15:32 PM
I do not know kung bakit they are using blockchain for their own illegal lottery business. Ewan ko if it's really intentional for them or not para mag pa bad image naman ulit sa mga kababayan natin.

And in fact, "blockchain company" for this issue is the wrong headline talaga.

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Scroll airdrop speculation on: October 25, 2023, 04:11:49 PM
I've taken part in all scroll testnets as well, just because it was free and didn't require much effort, I didn't run node tho, never good with that stuff.

7) Own a Scroll ENS domain

How do you get it?

You can mint one at the Scroll Name Service.

Check the official X post here: https://twitter.com/scrollnsdomains/status/1714274472231117004

I think as much as possible despite not knowing if Scroll L2 will be doing an airdrop in the future, we can farm as many possible multipliers as we want as long we can afford to spend gas fees from time to time.

I also remembered a game called the Omni Kingdoms which was also introduced during the Scroll Alpha and Scroll Sepolia days. Every interaction like training, gold, battle, arena, etc., cost you gas fees.

Not much fancy graphics, but a simple old-school click and interact type of game. They are also on the Scroll mainnet and they're having an ongoing quest on QuestN.

Check here: https://app.questn.com/quest/830990611889221905

I'm keeping an eye on Scroll L2. Can't ignore this especially of having an OG role on Discord which is possibly a strong criteria.

93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in new projects. on: October 25, 2023, 04:01:48 PM
Although we are not here to encourage nor discouraging you from getting into the new projects, but the decision would be entirely up to you. No matter how much insight that we can share here, the final decision will always be on you.

It should be on your own instincts and learn how to acknowledge and manage the risks at the same time. We can't just simply rule out new projects who wanted to make a difference, but sad to say that only a handful of them would make it and the rest are just saturated and wouldn't last long.

Even if these projects have notable VCs and partners with high reputation, it does not guarantee you any profits at all after participating in the seed round, presale, etc. On top of that, most of these projects under presale have long vesting periods.

Unless you bought the token directly from the exchanges at the listing price, they're gonna be fully unlocked. So it's better for you to read the whitepaper, getting to know the team's history, social media activities, understanding the ecosystem and more before participating in certain new projects in the space.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF $IBTC REMOVED IN DTCC WEBSITE!! MANIPULATION COMING OUT? on: October 25, 2023, 02:37:48 PM
My colleague actually shorted his BTC futures trading position before the news came out of $IBTC being temporarily removed in the DTCC website. Got lucky in his instincts but he also did not expect this to happen.

It's the reason why it got pull back a bit to as much as $33.5k but now we're at $34.5k as of this time of writing. If the Bitcoin bulls would keep up this momentum by maintaining a projected support level, there is a possibility that we might be going up even further to breach $35k and above.

$40k can be possible if ever Blackrock or any other pending ones out there would get approved by the US SEC. However, we should also expect the unexpected too just in case there's a news that would really impact the price like what FTX, Terra Luna and Celsius to the whole crypto market caused last time.
95  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is more profitable trading ETH/USD or ETH/BTC on: October 25, 2023, 02:31:23 PM
Ever since that I got into crypto trading, I have never tried trading alts to alts in spot trading due to the uncontrollable price movement of both.

Both of these pairs have risks but I am not comfortable trading altcoin to altcoin due to it's instability as I may find difficulties in measuring both profits and losses.

I always pair BTC and ETH with stablecoins for spot trading to minimize the risks. Very risky for me if I were in your shoes with the ETH/BTC pairing as it'll be a disappointing result once both prices are dropping and gonna be out of control.

But if you are skilled enough to trade and acknowledging the risks in alt-to-alt spot trading, then you can give it a try. Ain't giving you financial or investment advice here.

Experience will always be your best teacher.
96  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying at 35k? on: October 24, 2023, 11:50:31 PM
We may not know what would happen to the price movement after buying it at $35k. No price range would guarantee you anything.

If I were in your shoes though, I would wait for the market to calm down and successfully maintained it's current support level before deciding to buy at this price.

I am currently at a profit because I've bought them somewhere around $19k to $31k range respectively last year with my extra "not beer" money because of being a long-term thinker by doing DCA (dollar-cost averaging).

If you are that kind of thinker who doesn't really care about the price but more on the long-term result, then this may possibly answer your own question. Just my two sats.
97  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you still advised more buy and store? on: October 24, 2023, 11:13:52 PM
I was thinking new kind of plan to buy bitcoin every month from my salary immediately my company paids me but I still have other responsibilities to carry with family so am skeptical about it especially now that the price has no direction. If can afford storing every month in a long run I may realizes half of bitcoin unit and that's a big achievement to buy but to you is funny because you have enough of it. So advise me on what to do! Should I hold on because of the instabilities in price? Or I should buy and store? Over to you

Although we are not into financial or investment advice, but see to it that the money you've spent from your salary is something that you can afford to lose and treat it as "dead money".

The decision would be entirely up to you. We are not the ones who can decide for you since it's your money. Understand that everything has risks especially Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies because of the price volatility and it cannot be stopped.

I assume that you only have one income source which is your day job right? Correct me if I'm wrong. But if yes, it's better for you to start looking for side gigs during your spare time to earn additional income. You can commit some of your side gig extra money to try getting into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

There are many side gigs that you can do like article writing, video editing, community management and moderation and so on. Or much better think outside of the box regarding your own services that would satisfy your clients in the long run and in a legit way.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 24, 2023, 09:12:03 PM
All of us who are involved in cryptocurrency have heard and know to some extent about investing and trading. But I know that there are risks in investing and trading. To do these you need to know some basic things and gain experience. The main difference between investing and trading is the investment period, methodology, risk-taking propensity. Whether you are an investor or a trader depends on your financial needs and investment goals. Investing is long-term and involves low risk, while trading is short-term and involves high risk. Both methods can be profitable if the right strategy is adopted.
Which one is better if I want to invest and trade bitcoins.

Ain't a financial or investment advisor here. If you do not have knowledge about trading yet, buying and holding would be likely your primary choice.

Trading requires skills in reading the charts, candlesticks, technical analysis, etc. On top of that, trading has short term results than just buying and holding BTCs which has long term results.

I'm not a skilled trader by the way as I am more into long-term holding of BTCs.

If you are skilled enough in trading, then you can give it a try. But when it comes to choosing whether trading or investing (in case you are alrady a skilled trader), it is entirely up to you. No one would decide for you but yourself. Your money, your choice.
99  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Which bull run experience is the best for you? on: October 24, 2023, 03:35:29 PM
Naabotan ko yung both 2017 and 2021 bull run.

Although 2014 is where I got introduced into BTC pero hindi ko siya sineryoso so na ignore ko siya for more than 3 years.

2017 was the turning point para sa akin dahil financially broke ako. Yung si Bitcoin naka touch down $10k for the first time, dun na ako nag seryoso.

Since wala ako pang invest that time, nag learn muna ako hanggang sa nalaman ko yung airdrops at bounty programs na dun ako pumaldo. Para sa akin even na yung peak price nya was almost $20k before nag crash siya to $3k last 2018, yan ang most likely the best bull run experience ko.

Na appreciate ko yung 2021 bull run na si Bitcoin nag skyrocket siya to almost $70k, pero that time kasi I am already in good hands dahil dami ko sponsored gigs dun from various Web3 projects.

Kaya hopefully itong latest bull run mangin consistent na sana dahil sa ETF-related na mga balita kagaya ni Blackrock.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What advice for businesses exploring crypto payment gateways? on: October 24, 2023, 03:00:35 PM
Regarding the advice for businesses who want to accept crypto as payment gateway for their products and services, educating themselves about Bitcoin is always the first and important step before deciding to adopt it.

In the Philippines, there are various merchants already who are accepting Bitcoin and stables as mode of payment.

The most popular one would be in Boracay where Pouch.ph is spearheading the Bitcoin payment option in the island. However, they are centralized as it is tied to Netbank and with KYC. But they are using the lightning network and using the stable PHP balance for transactions and not the actual BTC.

There is also a coffee shop named Sats Cafe in a well-known university in the central Philippines where they strictly accept Bitcoin via Pouch PH and not cash.

Also in my home city there is a clothing apparel using the same Bitcoin payment app as alternative payment method.

Education and access to right information is really necessary for the business owners who doesn’t have knowledge and/or misinformed about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
