I think food and housing are too things that need to be available via bitcoin to help it take off. once we can get those two we are well on our way to being able to be "off the grid" so to speak.

I agree! I'll look into Kroger ASAP. As far as housing goes, if anyone is willing to accept bitcoins for rent, please list it here: http://spendbitcoins.com/wp/category/housing/

Would be so cool to see that take off!

hotels for bitcoin http://hojomaingate.com/blog/now-accepting-bitcoin-for-your-stay/ maybe you can get an affiliate deal with him and make some money while helping him get traffic?

Even if the accounts have 'secret' nicknames I can look at all the nicknames and balances, send a tiny amount ot someone, and then look at the 'secret' nicknames again and find out which is theres. multiple secret nicknames gets around this but I do not want to have to bother setting that up.

0.65% on each trade for both sides = 1.3% of turnover at MtGox are fees.
thanks!

It'd be cool to see a grocery store like Kroger or somebody available, even if you had to pay a fee. I think food and housing are too things that need to be available via bitcoin to help it take off. once we can get those two we are well on our way to being able to be "off the grid" so to speak.

What are the trade fees? I'm not seeing that on the site without signing up.
89  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy and Sell Mt Gox USD on: August 10, 2011, 02:12:16 PM
Where in the process does Mt Gox takes its cut? I see a .25 fee for withdrawing but I assume that is what dwolla.com is charging not Mt. Gox itself. How is it supported?

92  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend bitcoins on amazon, Go Daddy, barnes & noble, etc with no transaction fees on: August 08, 2011, 02:55:53 PM
would you be willing to work with small companies to help provide the potential for bitcoin sales. (i.e. customer->bitcoin->you->usd->us?) I think that could potentially resolve a conflict we were having about the potential risk of volatility with accepting bitcoin for sales and having to keep a close eye on prices.

Hey there,

Of course I would!

Please PM an offer to me and we'll get the ball rolling.

We haven't made it to market yet, still in development just keeping an eye open for options.
93  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitCoin as an open-source game currency on: August 02, 2011, 01:32:31 PM
slightly more advanced notion might be to try and get the games companies to accept BTC for the bogus not free services they offer like character server moves etc.  to them if the system doesn't really take off they have not impacted their bottom line much but if it does they have a leg up in the bitcoin market.

That would be a good move too! Where are all the devs?  Grin

Right here, can't do anything with bitcoin with the current project though.

So your idea is basically pegging the online currency to the bitcoin?
96  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Online wallet conundrum. on: August 01, 2011, 06:50:27 PM
All this talk of a central authority brings up some of the reasons why people prefer bitcoin to fiat currencies in the first place.

I think The phone applications are a much better route then the online service. As long as I can pay/receive money from my phone there is no need for instawallet, mybitcoin or any of them.

It is also a step towards another important goal for more wide-spread adoption, being able to use them in physical stores.

Any examples of past work?
99  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New IndieGoGo project: Bitcoin Startup Pool on: July 25, 2011, 08:44:14 PM
good idea but not thought out enough. Where are the projects/startups going to come from? How are you going to decide which gets what funding. Are you going to be in charge of this decision or will there be a committee? Or a direct Democracy with all contributors. Or a proportional democracy based on how much people contributed. How do you decide how much money will go back to the pool and/or investors/contributors?
100  Economy / Services / Re: Paying 0.03 if you post a For Sale or Wanted ad in my forum on: July 25, 2011, 08:12:45 PM
Do we have to be posting for fee ads? What If I'm looking for people willing to do pro-bono or commission based work? Will that count for the bonus?
