81  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BC.Game 🦁 Fantasy Pool | Euro 2024 ⚽ Discussion Thread on: May 27, 2024, 08:54:26 PM
Friends.

This thread will serve as a temporary home for Fantasy Euro 2024

The sponsorship fee will not be as large as we would like (about $1200 + bonus codes), but nevertheless I wanted to know your opinion.

What do you think if the entry fee is 2 mbtc?
Personally, I don’t mind this thread having to serve that purpose as a temp thread for the Euros in 2024 days, I’ve been a bit bored with all the leagues gone and I would have loved to compete but, am not a big fan of international footballing competitions. Can’t keep up with them and the news hence, it would be just loosing yet again I think. So, am not sure I would be in on this one but, I might just be here to see how it goes.

2mBTC served its purpose well when Bitcoin price was ranging and it came easy, coupled with the fact that, the sponsorship was much more than that and enticing as well. To enjoy the game and make it more competitive, the entry fee would be what bridges that and push the prices a bit up.

So I’ll say, 2mBTC is enough if you’re sure to have more participants.

I get your point, feels like they would just come in, take our money and leave right?
It is very possible that some of these people that would join this forum for the purpose of participating in our FPL games, may just decide to stick around and become members of the forum, so I would not be so bothered about them coming around to just eat some money and leave although that is possible too.
Obviously, it could be that and these are speculations that could easily be the other of the times. Like we had people from Clubhouse TV channel on Telegram, coming over to voice over the cheat situation we had from last time and picked up the pace with evidence to support the proceedings, it was something nice to see. Such users would be able to adapt rather easily and add to the forum but, I don’t think the forum is what the sponsorship is about mostly.

This should be fully supported. We need some fresh blood ant tthe more people we have the better.
More person's in the pool will make it more fun and improve the competition, I support it too.
My first season, we was just a handful and it wasn’t any less competitive but this season, we had even more users and it still was very competitive. Having more and having the list of users grow helps to promote more competitiveness and the idea of a bottlers league ensures you don’t get to give up on being competitive because you found yourself relegated in the bottom due to some mistakes you made when the season kicked off. All these really adds to what we could benefit as well as the prize pool.

As much as opening the opportunities for just anyone could go, it would be nice for those that have been around to have some differentials with the entry fee. Take it as a faithful’s benefit.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 27, 2024, 08:26:53 PM
Hello,friends
The question is addressed to hodlers who have been hodling bitcoin for years
Sooner or later there will come a moment when we will sell the bitcoins we hodl and have to invest this money in something else to create passive income
It’s important to note that aside from Bitcoin, there are a lot of other places you can invest your money such as you’ve highlighted a few, like having to buy properties, real estate, investing in stocks and buying shares, these are gainful ways to invest money too and you can archive this even without liquidating your portfolio.
It’s important to note that, most investors that take up Bitcoin investment with a long term hodling plan on it, definitively have other streams of income to sustain their hodling through the years it would take.

You can’t really be a good hodler without having an alternative source of income. That’s where you get more investment funds from and that’s how your hodlings gets sustained. In essence, you don’t get to have a definite plan for selling some of your hodlings but, as the need arises.
83  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Silent payments on: May 27, 2024, 11:27:44 AM
The basic idea

The basic idea is the following: user A publishes some identifier (usually a public key), and user B combines his private key with the published key of A and creates a unique address from which only A can spend. User C can also send money to user A by combining his private key with an address of A and deriving another unique address. User A will know that both users B and C sent him money, but B and C won't know about each other. Therefore, that allows user A to receive payments on completely delinked addresses using only one public address.
I think this is a lovely idea but, one of the many things the blockchain technology is known for is the level of transparency that is about the network.
I think to some extent, it’s the role in which mixers operated, given that you lose traces to the source of Bitcoin deposits except for one who is really keen to observe the inputs and outputs.

This silent system, does it also applies to the balance that might be available on an address?
I see this as one key aspect to privacy that we aren’t getting on the network just yet. Having just anyone to see how much is available on an address isn’t a best way to security. Tie that address to a person like we have on the forum, even though to some we are anonymous, it means trouble. The mixers case came close to some of these uneasiness.

It would be a nice incorporation into the system but, one that would be exploited for sure.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do your parents invest in bitcoin ? on: May 26, 2024, 10:05:20 PM
Parents? That’s a dumb things to ask and am really surprised having to see this! Like what do I care about my parents having to invest in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency projects out there. I think the most I could do is invest in their name but, it would often fall back to me as, I would be standing over their grave and not have them standing over mine. I’ve got some old forks to parent me and they are they damned too traditional to adjust to a new system. I better leave them than to complicate their minds with Bitcoin and how it works.
My investment over the years is good enough to serve in some capacity and ain’t no way they are getting to do this, am okay with the forks I’ve had to groom over the years, am cool with my parents having yo enjoy their old age and retirement benefits from their years of d service. Can’t risk no heart attack on them and let the profits or loss count in hospital bills.

Manchester United managed to lead 2-0 in the first half, did anyone expect this to be the score that would be seen in the first half? I'm sure not except for Manchester United fans and bettors who tried something unusual by betting on the unseeded team to win in the first half.
Manchester City have managed to handle manage the game quite well in this first half, tried not to commit any major error on the backline in being more defensive, allowing Manchester City to have much of the ball but, attacking them on a break, forcing the Manchester City defense to make a mistake, get into position in those pocket of spaces and just placing the ball in the net. This is a page from Real Madrid’s play book when they played Manchester City in the UCL.
They’ve done more than manage in this first half, it could have easily been 3 goals but, had one disallowed due to offside. Manchester City tried to keep a very wide high line to maintain its position pressing forward but, it’s turning out to be something they would regret.
They are a team that could always attempt a come back so, it would be interesting to see what changes Pep could effect on the game in the second half.
87  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: May 25, 2024, 12:04:22 PM
Now, to that, add that we've lost valuable members, some of which were intellectually influential, and you have an Internet board filled with mostly crap. What's the problem?

The quality of the forum is defined by the people that exists within, their contributions as well as what their intent is.

Should the absence of mixers count towards any decline in having some users leave the forum, I hope it not be directly linked with not having to earn from certain promotions as, that would mean a loss to them. On the context of having the forum bend in some way, that I would see some reason but even more so, the forum is hosted in somewhere and it’s got to play by certain rules as, individuals are tied to it somehow.

From time to time, there would always be this and that shift but, there haven’t been unprecedented decline of users, we’ve still got so much quality to be proud of and it all depends on where your looking.

One of the Iconic exit was that of Lauda, it was the first but, hardly due to the fact that anything was just going to happen like the banning of mixers but, just an old timer haven’t spent a good memorable years here and chose to take a bow respectfully while ensuring the ID Lauda keeps its reputation and yet an emotional one from Leo. People really do love here just because they want to and it’s hardly based on that ban or that decision from the administration.

To get sponsorship money you need some angle, be it players, popularty or whatever. And that goes double for fantasy which has super focused group and nobody who isn't part of the pool reads this thread
You have a point there, I think over the cause of my first season participating in this group and competition, I naturally felt it was a member exclusive thread where users in the FPL get to discuss tactics and how to manage the proceedings of there team, I even had to rebuke a user whom randomly dropped by to share some comment on the games that week but, was made to come to an understanding that by Icopress on how the thread doubles as both an FPL and EPL thread on the gambling board.

This brings to mind that, though we might not have participation from everyone or even some players, it doesn’t necessarily mean that thread isn’t been watched. Before I joined up, I watched the thread for sometime.

I’m my first season, I think users on the forum could get an invitation link to join right from the sponsorship site, was that it… someone remind me if am wrong. While this might not advertise the sponsorship site but rather the forum, this thread, functioning as a double does reflects the sponsorship too.

All good if we can attract some truly bottlers rather than a bunch of Alts to boost the prize pool and increase the pool's competition, but the only concern is that if strangers from outside the community continue to win the larger prize, everyone will become bored and lose interest over time. I enjoy losing money to individuals I know, as well as taking their money for bragging rights.

Can we also increase a little % for those buying in from outside the forum? We pay 1, they pay 1.5 ( forum privilege)  Cheesy
I get your point, feels like they would just come in, take our money and leave right? I guess that wouldn’t bother you much if you were winning, lol… am not winning anyway but, I’ll be there soon and am not very much bothered on the fact that, I have those much better than myself having to win the prizes and teach me the game but, I’ll like to see these guys around. Not having them come with yet another alt every time, creating more and more accounts that adds nothing to the forum only to leave it after the season and multi-participate in the next.
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 25, 2024, 09:45:14 AM
Dortmund should apply their strategy when playing against PSG. They can also defend well if they meet Real Madrid. This is their strategy, not luck as you think. They will continue to use that strategy to face strong teams like Real Madrid.
Luck doesn’t get you to the UCL finals! If it were to be luck, then we would have found the likes of Sporting CP or Celtic in the finals. They are a good side when playing locally but, aren’t that good enough just yet to make these stages in the UCL. Dortmund weren’t lucky, they dared to take the bulls by the horns, went for it and didn’t hold back and they got it. I think their biggest challenge was Arsenal, once they had them off the way, PSG wasn’t much of a threat like we assumed they would be.

Now, they face a real giant in the UCL, a team that knows how to play and pride themselves in the UCL. Dortmund have got to show themselves to be more than exceptional to come close to equal Real Madrid as I think, experience would be where they loose it. I don’t see Real Madrid not winning this, there are players to the team who wants more and more of these medals and trophy. On like in the Laliga, Real Madrid gives some real show in the UCL but, I would be open to some surprises if Dortmund can.

In short, if they are guys (or girls) who will regularly discuss things with us, by all means, otherwise keep them away. This is my personal opinion not my stance as a pool organizer. Who knows who will organize the pool, what sponsors we will have, and what rules that combo will land on?
You need to be a forum user to join the FPL on the forum, that’s to say, it’s exclusive to for forum users but then, having to create an account with aim geared at participating in it’s forum exclusive FPL contest feels a bit off. Given that, the much that is done here would be undermined just for some fun time while contesting for a grand prize and runner up.

Even now, I feel a little board of the fact that, the season is gone, the FPL in another 3months then, we would have our guest users gone with their league oriented account, only to come back when there is a prize to be won. It doesn’t feel like the best approach towards the forum. They don’t leave us a ghost town, only to ride in when we preparing a fist.

More regular forum users would be nice. So, I’ll say get regular and get a pass towards some of the forum’s exclusive activities and not just a registration ID with a fee to support.

Snipe
You did not understand. I didn't decide on it. It is official FPL tiebreaker. And it isn't about -4 points for the transfers. It is the total number of transfers in the season (free transfers + those that cost -4 points). Who has fewer - wins.
Oh that. Thought you were suggesting a means to some decider but, if FPL has these rules in place than that makes a lot of sense. So much for stats and a lot to know about these rules to the game.
92  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 24, 2024, 09:19:21 PM
A wonderful performance from the home side Girona in the game against Granada, at the same time I'm very disappointed at the home team for putting on a good show against a team that's not worth it in any way.
Ain’t nothing there to be disappointed about mate, they’ve got no reason to be any more competitive or reserve there performance but, to end the season in a way that would be memorable to the home supporters and mark the season’s performance. Many thing was archived by Girona this season and the most of all was there UCL qualification. They didn’t think they would get to that level, in fact the aim for them was Europa and shortly after they bagged that, they went over to qualify for UCL.
Hence, having to deliver such a final performance for its home side is a necessity.
Granada didn’t do much to resist them and the worst still was having to conceive a penalty and got a red card. 3 goals in first half and another 4 goals in the second, that’s indeed spectacular.
93  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Naija political scandal on binance on: May 24, 2024, 08:09:14 PM
This is not wrong. I only made it clear that government officials bribe is different from government fine. That should even be seen as illegal and a shame on themselves. Outsiders can easily know how this country is. That a lot are about bribing. The reason this country will not move forward. They care about their own pocket and not the interest and progress of the country.
This is the reality for most third world countries, being at the verge of development and developing, italways about doing whatever is necessary (in their case) to build wealth and not just wealth for themselves but generational wealth that would serve even when they are gone.

Na there the matter cast reach because, e no dey end with one person. Anybody way enter office go fill say, na opportunity for am to collect en own. If you no collect, e go be like say na you be mumu. Even people way dey around you cef go plan to harm you via say, them go feel say you go expose them one day.

Meanwhile, watin be the reason behind the none disclosure of names. This in itself na corrupt practice via say, these guys go actually stay off the hookand nobody go pursue the matter even. Hiding the identity of these guys is another way to promote these activities. Them for dey cast them for the public to know the kind persons we get in those persons.
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Luxury items stock will be good way to go on: May 24, 2024, 07:57:10 PM
It's like bank robbery lol...let them rob bank and i'll get some % asweell without doing anything because the money end destination will be luxury brands:)
More poverty might mean that a lot money for few and it's good for luxury brands life is short off course they want taste touch and feel all the finest things in the world.
You know, I really didn't get where this thread was all going, either your thinking of taking up creating a luxury brand of your own as an investment and put it out there for those that can afford it in the public to patronise you but, luxury isn't always in brands. It could also be in an elusive club with an insane entry fee. Trump has got one and some times, the many members that aboard this is so, they could as well create relations with other well placed persons in the society.

Luxury is a lifestyle, a lifestyle for the few that could afford it and not many of them are criminals. Criminals who tend to pursue luxurious items are often caught as, you end up with an item that is valued more than your estimated worth. It often calls for question and you could end behind bars.

Having to create a luxury brand isn't always an easy to archive goal. Its one that comes with precision in all that you do, the rarity of it and making sure you deliver on quality and stop principles to go by. It being the way to go depends really. Don't forget tax! Well that depends on where your living.
95  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: May 24, 2024, 07:43:42 PM
On an emotional sense I think the wife should quit for the sake of the kids. As for the husband he is meant to hold a reputable gambling attitude one that shouldn't affect the financial state of the home. Most especially the harmony and love in the family can be removed by addiction. It's risky for both spouses to participate in gambling. The aim of gambling is to be focused on fun not money. Family is first and not gambling. If both are responsible gamblers they'll be no much problem with any of them quiting.
Say that to a feminist mother and you would get the question,
Why do you get to gamble and they don't?
If you feel it's affecting the family negatively, why not go ahead and halt?

Well, this goes beyond feminism to be the bitter truth of the matter if am to stay true to my thoughts on this. Gambling isn't bad but, when your gambling habit becomes such that, it's impacting your family negatively, then it calls for you guys to take a break and see how you could handle yourself and formed habit about this activity to not impact your family negatively.

Of course one person could stop but, is it ever easy for an addict to just stop? Especially when the spouse is very much a partner to the activity. You'll both would have to call yourself to order and ensure you put your kids first, that's what parenting is about. Your kids well being should be the reason you can forgo any bad habit.

70-80 minutes into the game, we were at the same point (705-705), and I was still leading h2h. I'm simply wondering what would have happened if we had ended on the same point.
Team with less transfers made wins.
Haven't seen how close I got, the differentials that served as the decoders and the possible scenraio of matching points in a season, I've had to wonder the same thing. Some rules as to the FPL already decides who could be ahead based on point deductions as per transfers bit in the absence of these, what then?

I think we should decide on this at all but rather, follow up on the table. The table by some means already places players based on certain criteria in these times, perhaps it would be best to let that be the auto decider.

Also it would be in my opinion absolutely understandable when bitcointalk member status restrictions will be applied for the pool after what happened.
I just hope that I will still be able to participate if I decide to play FPL again even if my member status is not very high.
How one man's misdeeds could affect so many others. Well, there isn't any rule yet to deny you participation bit in the event that a rule comes to be of that nature, you definitely would be in the clear and it might apply differently, based on forum participation and how long ago the account how existed prior to the pool creation.
97  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: May 23, 2024, 11:38:38 PM
Leverkusen seemed that they have forced their limit to the achieve the unbeaten record. That ambition got them backfired by exhaustion. Leverkusen kept winning or drawing games in the last minutes has really made them drained to their limit. They entered the game with so lack of focus that made Atalanta scored two goals in the first half.

Atalanta seemed to have learned a lesson after a loss in Copa Italia to Juventus. They started the game really well, exploited any space in the Leverkusen's defense, this tactics succeeded to put them on a two-goals lead. This situation made all Leverkusen's plans on the game became meaningless, Everything became out of control for them. This will be a good lesson for Alonso in his managerial career.
Possibly that was it, an unbeaten run that somehow drew their attention from the games ahead and not a clear understanding of what have been archived, what would mean the most to the team than an unbeaten run and to test some of its bench and as well as introduce some of its academy players to the game. They really hoped to do it with one squad but, this was Atalanta in the finals. A team that has shown some quality performance and have some real good players within its edition.
The defense was really terrible, at how swift they allowed look man to come seeking them out and finding those openings to get a good sight at goal. It was terrific and he delivered the Europa for Atalanta with zero contest from Bayer Leverkusen.

OK one day someone needs to fill me in on all this pizzagate, I'm too old to be digging through threads, but count me in for Bottler's side league next season. You guys know my FPL game is shit, but I can't stay shit forever, can I?
But you might if the prizes is about the top 5. There are just a few users that gets better and better by the season and aren’t making lots of mistakes to let some of us take the lead but, am coming for y’all next season. Ain’t no way am not getting a cut of the pie.

Most definitely but, chances are that, you would make it eventually.  Grin

Wanna put your money where your mouth is? N50k I finish above you next season? Quote me if you're on....  Cheesy
Don’t you think it’s too early to start losing again, you just finished paying up your loses and is about taking up another because, am sure it’s something I would want to do. I wouldn’t hesitate to narrate in detail what I’ll be doing with your money. Don’t even think I’ll miss any chip in the next round.
99  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A known enemy can easily be defeated on: May 23, 2024, 11:11:48 PM
I have a younger brother who lives in the US and yesterday he told me about a call he received saying that he can get his lost coins back and all he needs to do is submit his wallet address.
One thing I get to wonder about stuff like these when they come up is,

How random can this really be? Was his coin ever lost and even so, how did you get to know and what business is it of yours fo poke nose in my business and lost coin. It doesn’t really add up but, given the fact that I don’t know this person and I don’t know what his got on me to want my public address, I just wouldn’t key in by giving the caller anything related to an address of mine.

What you did isn’t exactly bad, it’s just another way of telling them, they are looking in the wrong hole and when they realize that, wasting all efforts, they would know better to take your details off their log.
100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are signature campaigns still a thing in bitcointalk.org? on: May 23, 2024, 11:02:10 PM
I remember years ago people used to pay you to use a certain signature.

Is this still a thing?

Which company pays the most?
Before I even opened your thread, the title already gave me reasons to speculate on you being some outcasted user and boom, you’ve been here since 2013, lol… that’s some time. Yeah, you weren’t outcasted but it’s good to have some of you forks return to meet the forum just as functional. We’ve been keeping the house warm for you guys and yeah, signatures are still a thing, still gets launches here and there to incentivize some quality posting as well as stimulate users to be good at what they do.
It never really would die out as, new and new cryptocurrency projects needing publicity keeps popping. It’s sure to be here for some time as much as Theymos allows.
About highest paid, I don’t care to look that up these days, it doesn’t matter much since the mixers got kicked out.
