i told my gf and my family about bitcoins and how i invested 2.5k into buying mining equipment.
i got yelled at for a few weeks until i showed them the first dwolla transfer for 500$. that shut em up pretty well.
hehe, same here (sorta) i told some, and it was quite an argument (good kind) about it actually paying out till i showed em my first income (a meager 10 euro, but still, proof of concept) i tell anyone that listens, the more people joining the bigger it gets the more money we all make! wow, and i wonder why people think its a piramid scheme

i admire the idea, and aplaud you but as said before, its not worth it PCIEx1 to PCIEx16 extenders/converters are less than 5 euro (7 bucks) on ebay, i doubt you can get the cable+slot and such for less, let alone the postage(x3!) and solder tin and then there's the part of reassurance; no offence, but i trust robots that build these things 24/7 more than you when it comes to this much wires and this kind of (expensive!) equipment im sure you can do a couple without mistakes, but can you really say that your 100% flawless?
again: thanks for the offer!

anyone know why guiminer start and crashes ?
Can you be a bit more specific? well a restart solved the problem ..... same problem here, restarting only fixes it temporarily the problem is this: in my rig i have a HD5870(PCIEx4) and a HD5830(PCIEx16), both mining pretty well (total 710Mhash) but for some reason, after X hour (say once or twice a day normally) the HD5870 stops mining saying "connection problems" its really random and anoying, becouse so far only a manual restart works backup flags won't work either for some reason also, someone i help with his rigs has the same problem he has 2 machines with 4x HD5830, and one card just randomly stops mining in the same way myself's problem sounds alot like what we're experiencing

thats from narnia right? anyway, this really sounds more and more as a random, unsolvable problem (or solvable by a solution *way* too easy) ive been thinking, is there a way to make the linuxcoin USB stick recognized as a HDD isntead of removable media? it just feels like the problem is there becouse a W7 installation works, but thats recognized as an HDD Nope I'm afraid not I'd guess the board just don't like the sticks. I will look into this in a while to see if I can help you out more. well, that would make sense if it wouldnt install windows from USB, wich it does a windows USB stick gets recognized as an HDD, and the linuxcoin (or ubuntu) as removable media and the latter wont work :S
