So you're implying that TradeHill will be verifying that all bitcoin donations are coming from US Citizens? I'm hardly an expert in US election finance law, but my understanding is that this is not TradeHill's responsibility. When you write a check to a candidate to donate to their campaign, does your bank ensure you can legally donate to the campaign? If you FedEx the donation, does FedEx check that? TradeHill is just acting as the donor's agent, just like other bundlers do. But the simple fact that the money is being delivered to the bundler in the form of a check gives the bundler some clue as to the identity of the donor, or at the least in what nation they bank. Could a bundler accept a cash donation?

Honestly I hadn't considered. Typically I like to allow the market to determine the value. That said, you are welcome to make me an offer that I can't refuse. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

RP is a great educator, but he doesn't apply his conclusions about the state to all fictitious institutions (namely religion).
I also was a fan of RP until I watched an interview in which he denied evolution. (And I might point out that he is a medical doctor.)

That begs the question to what extent do traditional bundlers verify the identity and eligibility of donors. Would they typically accept cash donations?

Actually I don't think he has to charge sales tax for bitcoins sold if he has been paid with bitcoins for regular business, since he has already collected the sales tax when he sold his food for bitcoins, bitcoins serving as a type of IOU.
I am also doing bitcoins<->mexican pesos in my comic book stores in Mexico, although so far I have only done one transaction for $BTC 1.65
Interesting. I hadn't considered it from that perspective. It is similar to a store selling a gift-card.

What makes you guys think google will help promoting BitCoin instead of starting their own currency?
I'd say Google is definitely interested in bitcoins, but will probably not fully commit itself to it.
Financially, making their own currency (Gcoin) will make much more sense than supporting Bitcoins.
I'd settle for the ability to purchase a "Gcoin" with bitcoins.

Damn, if I lived in NY I'd go eat there just to support them.
I just sent them an email from their website to let them know I'd be eating there next time I visit NYC.

I'm curious, are they collecting a state sales tax on bitcoins sold?
Yes, the current method of transaction is your final bill to mtGox pricing including the .65% fee = your bitcoin total. Also bruce is a bit late with this, they have been accepting Bitcoins for awhile now; I bought food there about a month ago. I think he means to say that they are now acting as an exchange, BTC <==> USD. I'm wondering if NY state/city sales tax is charged when purchasing BTC with USD.

Two suggestions/requests: - Ability to bypass password entry to use in a "no-trade" mode, for just checking prices, etc. - Home screen widget with current price and balance. (with customizable refresh rate) Overall it looks good! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I have two lots: 10% discount off sale price for paying in Bitcoins, current MtGox exchange rate at time of payment

Now that e-mail has been hacked, and I have just recovered my access to it.
The hacker, according to gmail, was:
Browser Lithuania (78.58.51.114) Jul 25 (16 hours ago)
Just curious how would you guess they gained access to your gmail account? Trojan keylogger on a system you've used? Lucky guess of the password? Knowing answers to account recovery questions?

When you take into account servers and Android OS, I'd say Linux has been fairly successful. There are large numbers of people using it without even realizing it (or caring). Bitcoin can achieve a similar success.

Perhaps we should email paypalsucks.com to request Bitcoin be listed as an alternative. Currently that is linking to a CC processing service.

Even if congress doesn't increase the limit, Obama could argue that the 14th amendment gives his office the authority to ignore the imposed borrowing limit. Comments he has made imply he is reluctant to take that course of action though, preferring for Congress to pass an increase.

Still, I find it perplexing that the whole mtgox thing is based in Japan. Makes you wonder if there is a Japanese connection and a plan all along.
Bitcoin.net is also registered to someone in Japan. http://www.whois.net/whois/bitcoin.net

Google Goggles scans Phelix's fine for me. It's still unable to be scanned with Barcode Scanner for some reason though. Odd.

I'm unable to successfully scan Phelix's QR code. Marcusaurelius's is scanned perfectly.
Using Barcode Scanner v3.6 on a Nexus One.
