84  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 600Gh/s What's the Best Pool for the Buck on: July 30, 2014, 08:29:08 PM
Have been using Eligius but want to make the most amount of money for the small investment we have.  What are the suggested pools, and is there a place to compare the potential differences on what you can make daily on avg per pool?

Thanks!
In the long run there won't be much difference in payouts between the different pools.  Some charge fees, others don't.

You could always set your miners to load balance across a number of pools to diversify your hashing power.  Here's a good thread that shows a long-running experiment on three different pools (BTCGuild, Eligius and p2pool): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416933.0

Awesome, thanks!  I guess that's in January so not too far behind but yea looks like that answers my question.  I wish I had that many miners back then....ha.  So are they all the same type of pool, like PPLNS?

Why are there so many people on Ghash?  I personally would never go use them, but interesting non the least.

86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: July 29, 2014, 10:31:41 PM
They have on the instruction manual here http://www.coinminer.ch/webshop/wp-content/uploads/Setup-and-Installation-Antminer-S1.pdf

If you are lucky to have the PCI ATX and PCI Express Extender cables, do all the cuts on
the extenders, so you don’t chop the cables on the PSU itself.
WARNING: An 8 pin 12 volt cable has yellow wires on the same side as the
connector clip. An 8 Pin PCI Express cable has black wires on the clip side. (See
Above Pinout Diagram)
We need at least 2 available +12 V line. (Yellow and Black. 6 black and 6 yellow are
recommended) The miner has 2 hashing PCBs and each needs own power source. We If
you just use 1 +12V to each PCB, it will more than likely over load the line and we DO
NOT RECOMMEND it due to the HAZARDOUS CONDITION.
PCI ATX plug is usually +12 V line. These are the plug with 4 wires into 1 plug and you’ll
see 2 plugs as a pair. PCI-E (PCI Express) plug can be +12 V line as well. By cutting the
PCI ATX plug, you’ll have total of 4 yellow lines and 4 black lines.
Cut off the PCI-E (If it’s +12V) connector and you’ll have additional 2 yellow lines and 2
black lines.

So with that being said, the 4 yellow are on the clip side, opposite of the diagram.  So correct me if i'm wrong but:
I cut the 8 pin off, then since this is reverse of the instructions, what color do i put to the negative of the antminer and the positive.  Then do the other two wires just not do anything?

Then for the 4 pin:  The one in their pic has 2 black wires and 2 yellow wires.

Mine has 2 Black, 1 Red, 1 Yellow

They show that they have two on their power supply, this one only has one.  But I can grab the other 4 pin plug from the other power supply and that should plug right in to the open 4 pin port if I'm not mistaken.  Do I need to do that to have two 4 pin plugs?

And even if I do that, what wires am i using?  I take it that this means that I can use these power supplies?

Thanks for the help

87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: July 29, 2014, 09:53:24 PM

Now I have another of these so I can prob snag the 4 pin from that one and make it so this one has two 4 pins if needed?
88  Bitcoin / Mining support / Rackable Systems Power Question for Antminer S1 on: July 29, 2014, 08:59:50 PM
I have a 3F27-45-1 Rackable Systems 450w power supply.  I'm trying to see if and how I can attach this to the antminer S1.

That's how that looks, I can essentially take the other 4 pin plug from the other power supply so that I have two 4 pins if needed, but I see the yellow wires are on the clip side of the 8 pin which is what it says warning on the install manual for.

And the 4 pin plug has 2 black, red and a yellow.  But it's only one 4 pin.  How can I use this on the antminer?  Thanks
89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: July 29, 2014, 08:22:45 PM
Alright so just got another one here, hooking it up to a server power supply I had laying around that was Brand new.

The 8 pin has the yellow wires on the clip side, so do those wind up being the negative?  So just so i'm straight, clip the plug and put the yellow wires into the ground, and black wires into the positive and just don't use the other 2 wires that are hanging.

And for the 4 pin, I have 2 blacks, a red and a yellow?  What do I do with those?

Thanks

They are Dell Server Model N750-P, so one can handle two overclocked Antminers?!  What do I need to attach two of them to one server power supply?

And thanks for the breakdown on the payment, so when you say the pencil mod and 20 cents what am i looking for?  Thanks

Not digging these current prices at all man!

We have to offer Retail pricing on the site, head shops get mad if they see that we are selling the same stuff at cheaper then their Retail pricing.  How about we do a Potcoin Members and affiliates discount coupon?

We have no problem supporting those who support us.  And glass blowing.  We do hand blown glass, and custom etched glass.

We also sell our "Seconds" products from time to time.  If a piece has a slight crack, orsomething didn't go the way that the artist wanted, we will sell those from time to time at ridiculously cheap prices.  Feel free to sign up for our newsletter on the site where we will email out specials every once and a while.

Thanks!

Where can we post our store that accepts potcoin for custom engraved drinkware/barware (pint glasses, beer mugs, shot glasses, wine glasses, etc)

As well as hand blown glass, all done locally.  Pipes, bongs, chillums etc and we can engrave pieces and make custom ones as well.  Even willing to do potcoin group buys if interested.

But as I stated, where can we post so that others know we accept potcoin?

Thanks

I would go to potcoin.com and see if you can submit something to them to be listed in the vendor directory.

Thanks I'll make sure to do that!  Would anyone be interested in a potcoin community group buy?  The only reason I feel comfortable offering these options to y'all is, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the more Potcoin that winds up being used, the higher the value of the coin and attracts more miners.  Correct?

I apologize on our behalf if anyone takes the offer the wrong way, but considering we are accepting Potcoin and since we do hand blown glass and custom etching, I feel that they would be items that this community may be intersted in. Whether it's for making Potcoin Merch or just getting items that the majority of potcoin community members would most likely find useful, especially if you can get it at the price head shops would purchase it for from us.

Since I already wound up talking my business partners into accepting Potcoin, and got them to agree that we would be down for group buys, raffles, merch, etc.  Maybe even a discount specifically for puchases with Potcoin, which would give y'all a reason to show/tell your friends how to aquire some Potcoin to get in on the Potcoin Only Discount.  (more people who know how to use it, the higher the value right?!)

Anyways, I am open to working out something out so I can prove to my partners that there is a reason we integrated potcoin into the site.  If no one is down for the idea, I apologize for offering it, just wanting to help out both parties since we are invested in potcoin as well.

Thanks!

Alright so I know there is a TON of information out there, but nothing easily specific to my question.  I have two antminer S1's and two Dell Server Power supplies 750w.  I'm trying to limit the amount of power going to these two obviously to keep my cost down and yet get full potential before they are worthless.....

So with that being said.  What would you guys do?  Would you overclock both?  If so if you could give me some information on the easiest way to do that thru Windows 7, connected directly to the router.

Or are two of these units able to be used on one 750w power supply?  And if so, would y'all keep the two supplies not overclocked and have them both on one power supply, or overclock both and keep them on seperate ones?

Thanks for the help!

The answers to your questions are all over the hardware and mining support forums.  Here is a brief summary:

1) Limiting power - you can under clock and under volt.  Look for "pencil mod" to get details on how to do it.
2) To over clock, you just edit the asic-freq file on the miner.  Look for "over clocking Antminer S1".
3) At stock speeds, you can run both S1s on the single Dell PSU.  Under clocked and under volted, not a problem.  Over clocked, no.  Since you have 2, just hook each S1 up to its own PSU.

Personally, I still run my S1s overclocked, and I'm probably in the minority at this point.  Why?  Well, they've both ROI'd in BTC, so everything I'm mining now is profit, so why not make the most of it?  I run them both off a single Corsair HX1050.  Now, chances are I'm going to sell them and replace them with newer gear, but while they're mining, they're still overclocked.

So you would keep them on two seperate supplies I have and overclock both?

Everything will be on the table this time around. There is really no reason why we can't bring back some sort of anon. technology with some sort of neat kicker. We can figure it out. Just busy talking to some potential peeps one helped with a pretty big coin ( can't mention now ) and seems like a fairly good candidate so far in the early going. This process will take some time as we want to get it right and I'm only one person lol .....thanks for hanging in there!

what is the last few lines in your debug.log?

how many connections do you have? (help/debug)

For some reason today it just went thru, after 4 days of trying....hmm strange?  Now if your mining with eligius and put in merge mining, i guess you only get paid on payout times correct?  Is there an area to see what namecoin amount you have?
