I see 6 bounties on the OP I am pledging 15 gaps for each bounty there is and will be created until i say i dont So where can i send some gapcoins for the bounties? I just created an address for each bounty: (the first merit bounty was already paid) - working cuda miner binaries + source code GdtFcBN2xix3pNVZV7EjWuLS1Tkp6jw56B
- second running pool GbZMaSMvzgYUpLHLRCcsxhVeBLvf9GUo3n
- first merit within the top 10 GaTLAKiA8jVsFTdcUFL1uDNGKvaBzbQDbf
- first merit within the top 5 GPqdXdMGJjaZk2EZYgbxPb692jsBpzUoCf
- first merit, which breaks the world record GNxcqXsAQMN1ShU3M5kmQko13zhzvciMRE
Once the requirement for a bounty is fulfilled, the among of the respective address will be credit to the finder / developer.

So someone got a 33.32281046 gap. That would put it 12th in the world record list.
Yes, noticed that I already contacted nonce-pool about paying the bounty for the finder Un3eaL. I'll submit the gap to http://primerecords.dk

Actually that would be me. Not GPU. AWS and new miner. I'll let them run another five hours. Might add more. Not worried about the cost. Maybe we'll break some records.
Edit:
It would be nice if we had another pool to spread the hashrate. Maybe I'll solo mine.
Try solo With the new miner you will get much higher primes per seconds when mining solo.

can you provide windows binaries?

I'm not familiar with compiling for windows, but I'm sure someone else can do it. I'm working on it. @dcct great work, thanks! I sent you 250 GAP

Just published a new GPU-Miner released. It contains minor bug fixes:

Maybe add a vote option for no change as well.
Yeah! Simply don't touch it! This would be the first option: every 2 years (no hard fork) GSJw8qfMBTrX1p9rRexuek4zXjb8ay3Nev

Hi there, we had a little discussion about changing the block reward halving, but it didn't lead to a conclusion. So, let's start a voting about it. Every option is represented by Gapcoin address. Every 0.00000001 GAP (1 Satoshi) counts as one vote. The Gapcoin address with the most GAP will win the voting. Then we will make a hard fork (or not) according to the chosen option. The options are: halving the block reward - every 2 years (no changes, no hard fork) GSJw8qfMBTrX1p9rRexuek4zXjb8ay3Nev
- every year GZHgCFHCwQYZhSqmGAJ7rKLYyo8fBEkgdj
- every half year GRNwEjBXhr3ccYV78LKRuzjt9howGVwx9c
- every three months GLjNmmTZiSxTyFHXAFBjXefmFNWUhTfXjk
Or reducing the block reward every block to effectively halve: - every 2 years GU4oUgmeAC7T9DkgmrD1TjqcgHsdgXAhVU
- every year GHxr8JUNtaenHvrgqmt9oXTtZA8dA8DnBH
- every half year GRPwr2TiDNNBBUWa36os4Srppy4QdXxa9i
- every three months GKKcAv7UyJNLWsSPEwLRuYLBJjkRKvdp5k
The voting will end in one week (18.11.2014 10:00 PM UTC) After the end of the voting, the funds of these addresses will be added to the bounty for the first merit which breaks the world record.

Getting "file handle invalid" using gpu miner. Get it on both gpus, regardless of parameters. edit: 32 and 64 bit variant both same error. try to delete kernel.bin

|
What could be wrong? I'm mining it with CPU and it's all right..
Maybe too much work at once for the gpu. You could try to change some of these parameters, I would start to try -w 256 -s form 100,000 to 100,000,000 default 15,000,000 -w from 32 to 32000 default 2048 -a from 1,000,000 to 100,000,000 default 30,000,000 -z from 2 to 30 default 10
setting -w < default causes miner crash, setting it > default causes several pps: -2147483648 / -2147483648 10g/h -2147483648 / -2147483648 15g/h -2147483648 / -2147483648 at the beginning and zeroes later. I've tried some combinations of -s, -a, -z on the max, min or halfway values, but changing them changes nothing. Setting -w at very high values (like 50,000) causes things like this: [2014-11-11 20:07:07] Sieve primes changed <= 1200000 [2014-11-11 20:07:16] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:07:26] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:07:30] Sieve primes changed <= 900000 [2014-11-11 20:07:36] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:07:44] Got new target: 13.0000000 @ 22.4673190 [2014-11-11 20:07:46] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:07:56] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:08:06] pps: 0 / 0 10g/h 0 / 0 15g/h 0 / 0 [2014-11-11 20:08:06] Sieve primes changed <= 600000etc until it reaches 1000
and zeroes later. What should be the guide in further testing? Hi, Just found out, that a bug causing the miner to crash for -w values below 2048. I'll publish a new release later this evening.

Well, then let's talk about the reward halving: It wouldn't be much work to change it, it's just that everyone would have to switch to the new client / wallet before the first halving takes place. So, what do you think about halving the reward - every year
- every half year
- every three months
How about monthly 5-10% reduction ? Sudden halving is not good for any coin in my opinion. An other option would be to reduce the the reward every block, so that it effectively halves every half year. What do you think about that?

Hi there, nonce-pool confirmed me, that they can verify any block found against a pool user. So, i will set a few new bounties:- 100 GAP for the first merit within the top 20
- 150 GAP for the first merit within the top 10
- 250 GAP for the first merit within the top 5
- 500 GAP for the first merit, which breaks the world record
I also think there should be a bounty for a second pool, so I'll add 100 GAP for that.
|
|
|
Send another 25 GAP. I like to give 88 Gap for a cuda miner. Anyone who like that can add a few gap for the dev who make it possible.
I'll add another 100 GAP for working cuda-miner binaries, I would do it myself but i don't have any nvidia cards. - every year
- every half year
- every three months
I would prefer the second option, but that's just my opinion. Also, I think there is currently someone working on a new design of the website and the logo. I'll set a bounty of 250 GAP, for a new and innovative designed website and logo.

I have proposed a more aggressive reward halving (this will be the last time i propose it) but i havent see anyone talking against or for it. No chat at all. Another thing sure is needed is someone to build a small 'advertising campaign'. Send emails to crypto related news websites, ask other exchanges to add the coin, ask vendors to accept it, some twitter work etc... Generally someone for 'public image' and organising the community... Maybe we should gather a bounty and give like 5-10 gaps for everyone who will translate the OP on his mother language if there isnt one already. Its a good thing that difficulty is raising though Well, then let's talk about the reward halving: It wouldn't be much work to change it, it's just that everyone would have to switch to the new client / wallet before the first halving takes place. Was anyone able to run this on nvidia-cards?
Nope. Sadly I am getting the same error that q327K091 reported. I was using GFX 750 Ti. ok got passed OpenCL compiler error, now this
( replaced
// uint4 q[2] = {0, 0}; uint4 q[2] = {0, 0, 0, 0}; )

-5 is an out of resources error. You could try to use to reduce the memoy load for the gpu.

Dev Is it possible to reduce the load on the processor Currently only the primality testing runs on the GPU, the sieving still runs on the CPU. Although it is possible to port the sieve to the GPU, it will probably take more time. I could reuse eXtremal's fermat test almost without any changes, but since Primecoin and Gapcoins sieving differs it will need a more deeper look into the opencl code.

What are the optimal parameters -s --sieve-size the prime sieve size
-w --work-items gpu work items (default 2048)
-a --max-primes maximum sieve primes (for use with gpu)
-z --queue-size the gpu waiting queue size (memory intensive)
The current parameters should be pretty optimal. To give you a range: -s form 100,000 to 100,000,000 default 15,000,000 -w from 32 to 32000 default 2048 -a from 1,000,000 to 100,000,000 default 30,000,000 -z from 2 to 30 default 10

It's a shame because this is one of the few coins that do actually useful work. Hopefully people will continue to mine even if it doesn't bring great profit for now.
Seems like we have to get the price up somehow. I'll buy some GAP, but I don't have that much BTC to make a reasonable impact.
