Hey guys, I am trying, without success, to download the wallet, is the link broken?

Which one are you trying to download? I've just tried the links on cannabiscoin.net and they are all working.

Could be I'm asking a stupid question, but if cannabis is suddenly legalized in the US, what would be the point of CANN?

You are right to the extent that the purpose of CannabisCoin is to facilitate getting medicinal cannabis to medical marijuana patients (medical cannabis patients?).

The Yes We CANN movement, however, is about getting donated medicine to those who can't afford it. For that CANN acts as a token to direct those donations.

This brings us to a dichotomy of perspectives. Altcoin speculators tend to be disappointed that we make no effort to pump CANN's trading price. Patients and their supporters are more interested in the community.

So, consulting crystal balls, what happens if?

Ideal situation: Bernie Sanders' proposed legislation gets up and and cannabis is removed from regulation. Likely, do you think? Probably not.

Worst case: Chris Christie becomes President and overrides state legislation by executive order, taking us back to the very worst of prohibition. Fortunately also not likely.

Likely case? Things go on more or less as they are, the Yes We CANN movement continues its quiet growth, philanthropic holders continue providing support for those who cannot afford it and altcoin speculators continue to trade CANN for profit.

Bottom line is that I foresee a growing use case for CANN, others may view it differently.

  when the new wallet update ?
  anyone know?

There will an optional performance update in the next couple of weeks. There's no firm timetable for core updates at the moment. Feel free to offer suggestions for features you feel the wallets need. Be aware though that we will not be stuffing in features simply for the novelty value of having them.

Well my goodness...

Is this guy prone to hyperbole or what?

Arizona’s Reefer Mad Bill Montgomery Compares Marijuana Expo to Violent “Cartel Members”, Vietnam Vet as “Enemy”

He's apparently the Maricopa County Attorney.

I can't quite decide whether he's harming or actually helping the cause of marijuana legalization.

I downloaded the android wallet, and have been trying to sync it for weeks now. It starts at "13 months behind" and after about 24 hours gets to "8 months behind." At a certain point it just stops syncing, and claims I have no bitcoins in my wallet (which I do, I just don't  think its completing the sync. So I restart, and it starts at "13 months behind" again.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Are you in the right forum? The CannabisCoin Android wallet does not accept bitcoin. Bitcoin addresses begin with a "1" and CannabisCoin addresses begin with a "C".

You are right about the 'droid wallet taking an excessive time to sync. A fix will be released during November.

If you meant that it shows you as having no CannabisCoin that would be correct. Your coin will not show until the wallet catches up to the point on the chain where your transaction occurred.

Can you please PM me with your phone details? Your Android version is of particular interest. That it is restarting from the beginning each time implies that it is not storing or is somehow corrupting the stored data.

As a dumb workaround: only let the app run for perhaps 6-12 hours after your phone is recharged and then shut the app down. That should ensure it closes gracefully without corrupting the current data. If it crashes, as it sounds like it might be doing, please hard power off your phone before restarting the app (just making sure you are not left with a "ghost" process with the graphical user interface having failed but the background process still running. That would give you two instances of the app trying to write to the same data store - shouldn't happen but neither should corruption of the stored data).

I look forward to hearing from you.

crap appl3 !! McLeod's App "Gravity" got blocked from the App Store. It could have been so ... usefull.

CANN mobile wallet definitely should get a mobile scale functionality like that. Pressure sensitive touch displays got that dual use case.

Hmm... Apple is not mmj-friendly and we have no immediate plans for iphone apps. I'm not convinced scales would be a good fit with a wallet either - too easy to be associated with illegal drug dealing. What a gift that would be to the anti marijuana crowd. My immediate impression is that a scale function is best left as a standalone app.

Hi Cannabiscoineers,

Wallet version "v0.8.6.3-g14426ce-beta" don't even start to sync.
on my "Windows XT" desktop.
Maybe you can tell me quick
because I'm to lazy to check the forum !

Thank's Cannabissmokeneers !

Did you mean "MS Windows XP" or "X Windows" as in X11?

If you are still running XP it should be capable of supporting the 0.8.6 core wallet.

Search for "%AppData%\Roaming\CannabisCoin" without the quotes.

Check that you have a file named cannabiscoin.conf. If not, create one with a text editor (make sure that Windows does not add ".txt" to the file name - you may need to disable "Hide known file extensions" in "Folder Properties").

Copy the following 7 lines into cannabiscoin.conf:
addnode=seed.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed2.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed3.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed4.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed5.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed6.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=194.135.90.175

Save and close the file. Restart your wallet and it should begin to sync.

If you can manage the bandwidth download the bootstrap file linked about 3 posts before your own. That will speed up your sync considerably. Instructions are in that post.

You can PM me if you have any trouble getting started.

I strongly recommend that you upgrade from XP if you are still using that as MS no longer supports it - that means they don't fix security holes as they become common knowledge. If you are unable or unwilling to pay for upgrades then I strongly recommend moving to one of the free Unix clones - Ubuntu is an easy Windows-like option.

Welcome to the CannabisCoin community Smiley

New Bootstrap File

Starting a new desktop wallet or restarting after a long time?

Dramatically speed up wallet synchronizing by downloading the new bootstrap.dat file.

You will receive it in Zip compressed format. Unzip and then check it:

SHA-256: 5bc3ff7e68d2062588c8c08a0967004850047c920a14cccc9b5933571443bb52
or MD5: ab23ec7fb82d3023641ce5e6bcceabcb

Then move it to the appropriate folder for your operating system (First time users should simply start their wallet to create these directories):

Windows Directory: \Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\CannabisCoin
   shortcut: %AppData%\Roaming\CannabisCoin
Mac OSX Directory: ~/Library/Application\ Support/CannabisCoin
GNU/Linux Directory: ~/.CannabisCoin

Now restart your wallet and it should say "Loading blocks from disk". Depending on computer and drive access speed this may take some time to load more than one million blocks.

Once the wallet exhausts the bootstrap.dat resource it will rename it bootstrap.dat.old and continue to sync via the network.

Upcoming project for CANN?!

Do you follow twitter? https://twitter.com/CannabisCoins is where announcements are made, ex post facto.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: October 21, 2015, 01:01:12 AM
CANN ... if internal management has/owns a large chunk of the total supply ... this is not a big issue ... in fact it is the very point to managing a 'peg'.  I think it is to your advantage to formally post the reserve accounts on the public record Wink

I can give you the general figures:

Of the planned 106 million supply (which we will never reach) about 86.6% is currently in circulation.

Including the mining originally done by team members, including myself, and donations made since, the team have combined assets of ~4.7%.

All told, ~82% of planned supply is in wide distribution.

There is opportunity but no plan at this time to increase general circulation up to the original target of 106 million (at conversion from scrypt). This would require a hard fork and is not planned in the current wallet update.

At present the thinking is that ~92 million is an adequate market supply.

Edit:

The twins apparently don't like the numbers and want to make up their own. Too bad. Take it to your own forum thread guys.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: October 18, 2015, 11:34:23 PM

So that's the current destabilizing attempt is it?

Lately there have been a few instances where people have come into the IRC channel alarmed over reports ∆9 "is leaving", "has left", etc., etc.. Now a couple of "is it a take over?" posts in a matter of days.

Relax people, it's just mischief-making by a couple of malicious individuals.

We'll try to get the promotion kit ready so anyone wanting more action can join in and actively promote CannabisCoin's use in the real world. My personal preference was for that not to happen until the new wallets have been released but we'll see how that shakes out over the next month or two.

There's something more infectious and far more useful than the twin's malicious rumors. Smiles. Try them with everyone you meet, you'll find them quite contagious Wink

Have a great day everyone. Cheesy

Text removed by poster.

While retaliation is a natural human response I am asking that people here not do so. Even though these kids are apparently living their lives very poorly they are the only lives they have. Please don't make them any worse than they must already be.

There are sufficient ways to make our disapproval known without resorting to their tactics. Fighting fire with fire generates a great deal of heat. How about we try water instead and just cool it Wink

Have a great day everyone and remember, share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

Sorry everyone, about the frequent reposting of every slur the twins can think of.

We could play whackamole with them but I suspect that is some of their gratification. Quite what their motive is I do not know although I can guess it has something to do with another coin.

The bottom line and something they can't seem to come to grips with, is that no one is being asked to fund CannabisCoin or its associated projects. If you are concerned about what we are trying to achieve and/or how we are going about it then by all means move to another coin. We'll still be with the project if and when you return.

James and Joshua are what they are and apparently facts and reality hold little interest for them.

We'll sweep the board from time to time but please, don't waste your time arguing with them. You know what they say about people dragging you down to their level and then beating you with experience Wink They seem to have taken their inspiration from the monkey-wrenching manual and they can fabricate slurs far faster than you can reference the facts.

We'll just let results argue for us.

Have a great day everyone and remember, share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

I don't think nobody with brain cares about all this...what all the community here is interested asking is..what is going on?something new is coming in short time?if not,what is the cann dev and the community doing?wasn't cannabiscoin his main interest,so?..there are the information the community is interested of..come on..

Hi ciccas4, for coin-related update see my earlier post. I haven't heard from anyone particularly wedded to the older libraries yet but I'll leave the question on the table for a couple of weeks to give everyone a chance to make their case. As for the community everyone has a chance to get involved in promoting CannabisCoin and we are working on the promotions kit to that end.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: October 14, 2015, 11:13:25 PM
G'day Virtuoso Smiley

You are defending yourself and CannabisCoin, which you are perfectly entitled to do but I ask everyone to avoid the temptation of being drawn into a flame war.

The twins are going to keep pouring out their puerile bile regardless and I think the best thing is to simply let results prove them wrong over the coming years.

Most people know this is a long term, incremental project in a field where the rules keep changing as all levels of government try to unwind 70 years of prohibition.

The twins want to make much of side projects delayed or shelved. Do we hit barriers or find that the two rapidly evolving fields of marijuana legalization and crypto alter the validity, practicality or desirability of projects, rendering what was a good plan last week to one that needs rethinking this week? Trying to merge two such controversial fields, how could we not? That's much of the reason we switched to ex post facto announcement.

The bottom line is, if you like what we are trying to do, stick around. If you don't, if we are too slow or boring for you there are plenty of other coins. For those who wish to help rather than hinder we are assembling a promotional kit where you can introduce others to CannabisCoin and the Yes We CANN movement.

Please don't feed the trolls though, they have enough problems as it is.

A few notable events for CannabisCoin!

 A MILLION blocks! Yes, the blockchain is now over a million blocks long and running strong!

 While that is a tribute to the rock-solid stability of the code it does raise a couple of issues:

 Firstly it is leading to longer scan times for the wallet, which some people in this world of rush and hurry find too tedious. Look for a two-stage update of the wallets.
 Shortly we will release a minor optional update to refresh the wallet checkpoints. This will speed up wallet starts.
 A new bootstrap file will be issued shortly too.
 We are also looking at bringing the core up to 0.11 from the current 0.8.

 With regard to the planned major wallet update, anyone with strong feelings of why the code should not be based on later libraries (currently boost147-149, db4 and using Qt4) should contact Barry Code directly by emailing b4zz4.code@yahoo.com stating why. CannabisCoinj will be brought up to core 0.13.1 and the Android wallet probably to match bitcoin wallet 4.4ish.

 CannabisCoin Promotion Kit: Work continues on the downloadable pamphlets for advocates to use when approaching your local dispensaries/merchants to offer them the opportunity to join the Yes We CANN movement.
 To access the material see https://github.com/cannabiscoindev/CannabisCoin-Media/tree/master/Brochures When finished we'll add a suggested approach guide to help you when you approach people to promote CANN.
 Also in the documents realm our favorite Polish merchant has already provided a translation of one of the pamphlets. That will be added too.

 I hear other promotional efforts are flying in too. I'm looking forward - and possibly upward to see what's cooking there.

 As always, remember to share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

YES WE CANN!

Got some more draft pamphlets for review. These are meant for dispensaries/merchants to distribute to clients to encourage a switch to crypto transactions. Either #3 or #3_short and #4 are meant to be handed out as a pair with the aim of introducing novices to some of the advantages of crypto.

Proposed edits should consider the problem of giving sufficient information while not choking the prospective user with excessive detail.

Click the images to download full-sized PDF files.

Comments should be directed to b4zz4.code@yahoo.com

Review is still open on the leaflets meant for advocates to distribute to dispensaries/merchants found here.

To be clear, leaflets 1 & 2 are for the general public to leave with dispensaries and/or merchants when encouraging them to join the Yes We Cann movement. Either #3 or #3_short & #4 are for dispensaries and/or merchants to print and hand out to patients/consumers encouraging them to adopt crypto to everyone's advantage.

The "How to buy CANN" guide seems to be a popular request but it will not be released in any form until we have definitive information on the availability of direct fiat purchase channels. As we keep telling everyone, this is a multiyear project, please be patient.

In the meantime have a great day everyone and remember to share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

And again from our favorite Polish merchant:

2tejszy is giving away 100 CANN to the first 100 customers with Android CannabisCoin wallets.

Please note that he is talking about physical customers in his store with Android wallets on their phones.

Sure We CANN!
