81  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is the use of encrypted email and VPN is very useful? on: September 12, 2021, 10:16:08 AM
So if someone wants to have a privacy then they should learn coding and develop an app for their because they don't trust the service provider? Which doesn't sounds reliable and practical as well.

Well, there are some opensource implementation of VPN software you can simple deploy on your own server. So you do not need to code your own software but you need to trust to developer of specific software, of course.

Generally speaking, more and more it's becoming philosophical question. IMHO there is nothing surprising about that. If you don't trust to service provider, you cannot trust that service will be private. If you don't trust to developer of a program or even operating system, you cannot consider your working environment as private. If you cannot trust to computer hardware manufacturer, you cannot treat your computer as private. Simple, isn't it?

Probably you are not capable of creating own computer hardware and code your own software so you have to trust to somebody who have done those things for you. Thats how it works. Back to topic - if you live in a country with stupid laws so you cannot trust to connection provider because he is bonded by laws of country he operates in, the VPN provider from other country without specific stupid laws you care about can be considered as private augmentation. It's all about personal priorities.

Thank you so much for this information guys!

I will study more about this topic because I find it interesting and important these days!

By the way, a silly question, for example, if a certain person is committing a crime, (money laundering).
He's already being investigated, can there be a court order and breach of confidentiality in these VPN companies and encrypted email companies?
Can the police act to carry out an investigation and breach of confidentiality in these VPN and encrypted email companies? Is this possible?

This is hard to answer. Ask a specific provider and trust his answer. You have to count with simple fact, that provider have to (and will) cooperate with law enforcement organizations of country he operates in. Some of them declarates that it is impossible (kind of personal key is stored only localy on your computer, do not stores logs at all, etc) - but you have no guarantee that it is truly like that, maybe just because of some bug in software, even in some third-party lib for example.

That's why it is good idea of decentralization (in anything), E2E encryption, using OSS software, do not rely to only single security layer, etc etc... And of course - if you do not understand to technical backend, you cannot decide who to trust at all.

Anyway, the secretes to a better world is doing is staying united and doing the best we can.
Problem is that divesity of opinions prevent us from being united. Of course that some people try to push own opinions by force and violence. But unification (of whatever) is not very good state - it stops evolution and suppress natural selection.

Improvements in science and technology help improve our standard of living but cannot solve our underlying problems due to the exponential growth of the human population.
How can you contribute? Do not reproduce, teach your children to not reproduce. Vote for globalists and environmentalists.
Of course that science can help with population problem. We can populate other planets for example. Problem with not reproducing is that it is unnatural for our bodies. It brings you simple satisfaction to have a child. Lots of environmentalits are just hiding their desire to gain political power.

This is a temporary situation caused by the lag between a reducing death rate and a reducing birth rate. Some countries, most notably Japan, have already reached stage 5 of the demographic transition model. Equilibrium will be achieved everywhere, eventually, as a consequence of improved healthcare and technological advances. But obviously for the moment the global population continues to grow, which acts to worsen the problems with the climate.
Can we achieved equilibrium with such a mass of humans? I was thought that optimal quantity is something about few hundreds of thousands.

But your VPN service provider can have all your traces so it will give easy access to them to search for sensitive data compared to searching all their data and cookies.

End to end encryption is also kind of lucrative terms but on most of the cases they are still have your meta data and whatsapp can be the best example for that.

I didn't say that VPN solves all problems. Reliable VPN provider is a must. Or do it on your own - as we say in our cuntry - you don't have what you didn't make.
84  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Library ? Or Internet ? on: September 10, 2021, 06:40:13 PM
(A joke.)

I was reading in library abut a guy flying on the broom doing magic with stick in his hand. It has to be true, it's in book from library!

What I want to say is that first of all (regardless of the source of info) it is necessary to use that thing in your head to judge what is true and what isn't. Everybody say that internet is full of bullshit, but people talk about bullshit all the time - it is not just about internet! Think and you won't have a problem.
85  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What Role Can I play to Solve the world's problem? on: September 10, 2021, 06:25:28 PM
At last - some right philosophical topic!  Grin

First of all - relax. Don't panic, no stress. What are these problems sompare to whole universe? Who are we to the universe? Answer is simple - we are nothing, just like a drop in the sea...

Some time ago I was thinking about universe. The universe is loosing its entropy. Everything goes from chaos to order. Big bang at the beggining, glaxies, stars and planets created from dust... Everything is going exactly like always and it started long ago before us.

If we are just drop in the sea we cannot disrupt this chaos->order process - it is not in our power. And this process started before us, so it means that we are part of this process - like everything mankind did in the past and will do in the future. Someone faithfull would say it is part of someone's plan. I am not so I don't think it has to be like that. Necessity of plan is just human mental construct and maybe it is completely irelevant in the context of whole universe. (Maybe not, but if I don't know, I reject fabricating of weak construct of god.)

So maybe it is OK to do nothing. If you have messiah complex you can try to save the world but I am sure that nobody will thank you. (And yes, messiah complex is mental disease and maybe can be cured.) If you just want to do anything, try to be a part of evolution - try to improve yourself in any aspect you enjoy.

Usage of VPN has no usage at all other than hiding your IP address temporarily but using end to end encryption while sending emails give you extreme security to your data and very few services are available now to use it and one of the best is proton mail.

Sorry to say, but that is not true at all. VPN gives you encrypted layer, so you don't need to trust to your connection provider - it is almost must have on public wifi for example. But of course, we have HTTPS, so one may be OK just with it.

You can use E2E email encryption on almost every email provider (didn't heard that some of them do not support it), but you have to configure email client.
87  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is the use of encrypted email and VPN is very useful? on: September 09, 2021, 06:08:01 PM
Yes, securing network communication is always a good idea.

Some times ago I was choosing new email provider for home. First I was looking for secure email providers - choosing beetween protonmail and tutanota. (Both looks almost the same, the main difference is that tutanota is cheaper and protonmail servers reside outside of EU.) Then I realize that it is much better to use some standard encrypting tools (client+gpg for example) then these kind of services. So finally I choose just standard email provider.

In the matter of VPN I am planning to use my own home server as VPN. (Mainly to secure mobile broadband, but secure connection from outside to home is also a benefit.) Don't planning to secure connection from home to outside yet, but I'm definitelly considering it as good idea.

88  Other / Politics & Society / Re: COVID-19 vaccinations should be a choice, not a government mandate on: September 09, 2021, 10:22:22 AM

most anti-vaxxers are basement dwellers anyway. so yea. not much change
however vaccines are the solution to get things back to normal.

here is the thing about anti-vaxxers. if there was a room with no windows and a door that was slightly open, no lock. an antivaxxer will most likely try to find an excuse of why they shouldnt open the door.
they would happily spend years crying about how they feel locked up. but not want to take the exit route

hey i understand their cannibis fuelled paranoia, i even understand their herbal supplement induced panic attacks and hormonal centred rage.

but it seems none of the anti-vaxxers can actually use a rational, logical, factual reason for their excuses.
they make up too make pathetic false narrative crappy stories to excuse their reasons.

their real prison is not the one they think the government made for them. but instead its actually their own irrational mindset that is their real prison.

take badecker. last year he was crying about how he couldnt play golf due to government. reality is golf courses in his region were still running but he personally never went out of his house to find out. instead he spent months creating a prison for himself or finding conspiracy reasons online for why he should not get involved with the world outside his house.

anti vaxxers think that they cant go to grocery stores because they think they need a nazi ID passport to do anything. not realising that anyone getting a vaccine is not processed through any passport department. they are just given reminder cards of what vaccine batch they had and when their second dose appointment is.
yep you can go shopping, you can go out the house for a walk. no one is door-to-door knocking asking for ID. no military is holding up a gun demanding you get vaccinated.

so if you dont want to feel like you are in a prison. open the door. and step out. get some fresh air and a different prospective. find a different point of view

As usual. I gave you three examples of negative impact. You ignored two of them and depreciated the other. Of course that world is nice, when you ignore problems.

Maybe it is time for you to realize that not every anti-vaxxer has the same reason to reject vaccine. Nor all of them are basement dwellers... But lets say we can just ignore people with psychological problems caused by these days. Do you think we can safely ignore political and economic aspects of whole thing as well?

And I really like the statement that vaccines are solution, that everything will be back to normal then. It won't be. There will be new mutation, vaccine do not help to, just like flu vaccination. Politicians said it helps just because it has potential to earn lots of money and gain them more power over people. And people give them the power, because they are scared of bad scary virus. All this get things back to normal is just nasty kind of blackmail.

In our country we already had few covid religions. First religion was that self-made-from-scanties masks will revert everything to normal. Other religion was that mass testing will help. Now we have another - that vaxx is final solution for free. In every case politicians claims that everything will be OK, just a little bit of faith. And in every case they tried really hard to scare people with irational arguments. But I am atheist - I cannot believe in some messiah saving me from deadly virus, when I know every claim from before was a lie. I am trying to live honorable life, I cannot collaborate with politicians on destroying society.

89  Other / Politics & Society / Re: COVID-19 vaccinations should be a choice, not a government mandate on: September 09, 2021, 06:43:16 AM
wait.. when was it a mandate..
...

it is a choice.
but with all choice are consequences

no government has ever said that if people say no, then a military guy will knock on door holding you at gunpoint and force you to be injected.. you simply can say no and not go to the appointment.

however not having it. means many things. where other peoples choices can then affect you...
you preffering to be a mass viral incubator, makes other people at risk from you. so for other peoples safety, that might affect your life. such as requiring you stay away from them.. or to do regular testing and be sent home for a week at the first sign your infected. . it could be any other number of things.

yes you have a choice but choices do come with consequences. and remember other people have choices too and their choices can affect you.
no one will point a gun at you. but dont expect your life to be normal if your choice is going to affect others
because you wanting to be a face licking mouth breather invading other peoples personal space is then you taking their choice away from them. they may choose to not want to have you near them. which is their choice

now do you still like "choice" when it starts to affect your life. you know, like your manager chooses to protect his staff from you? giving you the choice to resign or submit to work changes or get vaccinated.. he is offering 3 choices. so whats the problem

The real problem is that pro-vaxxers ignore a lot of things.

Politics. All these covid-stuff became one big political game abused to gain more political power and/or money. Maybe it is not so visible in your country, but in lots of it does and it will have negative feedback to future society development.

Economics. Lot of country simply do not have enough money to fund mass test / vaccination / restrictions. 1-2 year irational money spending will have negative inpact to all society for years (but likely tens of years). The most affected will be education, healthcare and (of course) whole standard of living.

Psychology. All restrictions have huge impact for overall psychological health of people. They will need extra healthcare and maybe some of them will not be able to work. The most obvious is the fear that lot of people didn't handle themselves: the fear of other people you call them viral incubators... Maybe you didn't know, but that is how life on this planet just works - we all are just incubators full of microorganisms and unreasonable fear of this fact is just psychological problem which should be cured by professionals.

All these will have huge negative impact on society and next evolution of society. Much worse then some new virus can have - new viruses are something natural on this planet and simple cannot have negative impact on whole society, because society has natural methods of solving such a things. So the question is: is whole this show worth of it?

90  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in the society on: September 05, 2021, 08:37:25 AM
But lately religion has been a mess you know, most people use religion for their own selfish interest....life with religion is something else, Life without it we wouldn't have been at this stage of life.

Of course we wouldn't. But we cannot say we would be more primitive. It would be different - better in some way and worse in some other, but impossible to evaluate as a whole, because there are so many variables in a such a long time. But IMHO it would be better, because of middle ages and christian negative influence to education.

I consider myself lucky because I believe in God. I received my religious belief from home later I went to church to complete my religious education. I am Catholic and I respect all religions because they are based on one God, I can be friendly and share my beliefs with them without fanaticism.

The sad thing in my opinion are people who do not believe in God, it is difficult for them to make them understand that God exists.
There are things that happen on earth and in the universe that still have no explanation and come from God.
If someone is an atheist please believe in God because he exists, he manifests himself in many ways, you know that he is with you especially when you suffer from any disease and you leave them in his hands.

I describe it this way because once I got sick I didn't have many financial resources, just a treatment I felt very sick and I said to myself if I don't heal with this I don't know what I'm going to do, and I asked God a lot for my health and I felt the healing hand of his son Jesus.
My testimony may sound unreal but I felt my healing that way, perhaps it was the power of my faith, but I felt the presence of Jesus one night when I asked him to heal me.

It is often possible to see so many contradictories in catholic statements. In one hand you are trying to convince us you are not fanatic and you respect other religions. But in other hand you consider existence of people who do not believe to your god as sad and you are trying to persuade them for your own religion (without any rational arguments, of course). As an atheist, I do not consider this behaviour as a respectful, not even tolerant. It is just one step to force people to one right religion.

I come from catholic family and christianity is strongly engrained in society in my country - I know christians very well. They tell you there are things with no explanation, but they didn't forget to mention that they (of course) know how to explain that things. They consider others as inferior stupid wretches and manifest themselves as superior people, predestined by their god to enlighten others. And call this as respect for other opinion.

IMHO religions that consider as a holy duty to spread around the world are fanatic somehow... by design, it is coming from their essence. But it is not surprising - all this come from ancient history when religions started to be used as a tool for spreading political power (often by using violence).

This always happens in Africa, the government deceives  the people and the world that they are running a democracy government why they aren't, there's no freedom of speech, they don't run a free and fair election, their force her  citizens to do what they like.

I assure you - this happens all around the world, not just in Africa. Politicians just pee to the people everywhere, but somewhere they try harder to persuade people it is a rain. But the smell is the same. That is the essence of government - there are just different tools to achieve the same.

92  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in the society on: September 02, 2021, 04:34:21 PM
Man has an understanding and fear of death. This means that most have to create or believe in a god and associated religion.

I cannot say I do not agree, but sometimes I fool around with idea that (some) religions even tighten fear of death. Then classical chicken-and-egg question comes to mind... What do you think?

93  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in the society on: September 02, 2021, 12:31:17 PM
I think that religion in some point of human evolution has its specific meaning (and nowadays this meaning is often misinterpretated). Later, religions was abused for political intentions of individuals who wanted to gain power. Today, religion (in its ordinary meaning) is just a relic and has been replaced (as mentioned by Coyster) by science. Ofcourse, representative of some old-style religions do anything to survive, because the religion is a source of income for them. But religions as sources of political power will end one day (hard to say when).
94  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy on: September 02, 2021, 11:30:27 AM
This would resolve into a society where there are no laws, which is simply government by the richest/strongest/most powerful. Give capitalism free rein without the democratic element, and you end up with an entrenched elite running monopolies and cartels, and everyone else doing as they are told, and with no prospect of this ever changing.

Democracy isn't perfect at all, but it does provide at least an element of accountability for those at the top.

I think that generally I agree with you. BUT... We have capitalism with democratic elements, so everything should be fine... But it isn't. Our democratic governments are goverments of richest/strongest/most powerful. There are elites running monopolies and cartels. And no, there are not any element of accountability for those who rules. Well technically maybe there are, but it doesn't work. It cannot work, because same people who rules also decides about this element of accountability. We can say all this in simplier way - separation of government powers is one big failure... And then democracy as a whole is failure too.

Even the people who vote for the leaders has no right to ask about the leader's activity until their ruling period ends so democracy is just a form of temporary dictatorship but its better than compared to living in a non-democratic country.

I totally agrre with this. Problem is, how can we distinguish what is and what is not a democracy? Where democracy ends and totality begins?

why would anyone hand over guardenship of owns destiny to anyone and not steer it self in the right way.
Because people is afraid of responsibility and they are happy to let someone take it instead of them.

I want to know if government is only problem bitcoin has, government is disturbing over cryptocurrency, is it possible for government and any other technology developer to introduce a coin that will dominate bitcoin.
Not sure the meaning of question. But sure, some government can introduce own coin which dominates any other - government just prohibits concurent *coin, if it would like to do so. But this prohibition will be valid only in specific country.

Without laws people would go out of control.
What do you think by this? Whose control? Yours?

There is no peace that you can find if a society without laws existed.
We only know one type of society nowaddays. Long time ago humans lived without law and there were no such a things as doomsday, chaos and tragedy as you typed.

Imagine paying $100 for something that is literally free.
Free? I thik that someone else spent lots of money collected from taxes. And that's our money. So this global political show is definitelly not for free...
99  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Society with no law on: August 31, 2021, 05:55:43 AM
To coexist in an environment, we all require rules. Without them, each person would do what they wanted, would think of themselves, without thinking about the consequences that their actions could cause to others.
I don't know. And what about natural instincts? Human wants to survive and if he wouldn't think about consequences, they can easily be killed by someone else. Natural instincts would lead human to live with other people in peace, because living in the group is better for surviving  then living alone.
The most posts in this topic assume that pople without laws are just animals. But we distinguished from animals before creation of laws, so laws simple cannot be the difference beetween animal and human.
100  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Society with no law on: August 25, 2021, 05:22:28 AM
A world without law and order? That's a dream of all of us when we are in anger state, isn't it Wink but, the brutal truth is, no, we can't live without a set of regulations in which everyone is equal in importance, and all those who do crimes will have to get justice, however, with rise in technology, we will soon be able to prevent the crimes before they are committed, and when that will happen, jails and prisons will be empty Cheesy

Good joke  Cheesy. One note as a thought for long winter night reconsidering: Laws and order are two different things.
