81  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 03, 2023, 10:45:06 PM
What is the point of buying merit? I think you can just buy a Copper membership to be able to post pictures and some other features.

I will admit that when I first started using Bitcoin Talk, I didn't fully understand how the merit system worked (I am still learning) and I wanted to skip the line but after spending some time in threads, I quickly realized that there is a lot to learn on here and that merit will naturally happen if you have anything of value to contribute.

The obstacle is the way. Enjoy learning and contributing what is uniquely your own and I think that the merit will follow.
Does buying copper membership on this forum not also contribute as morally wrong practice?
Am asking because if the point of buying a position is benefitial and people buy it, what's to say merit buying can't happen and people won't buy it?

Is there a way to tell the difference between the merit that is bought,  and the merit that is earned on the forum?
Any specific benefit of buying copper membership or any rank membership position at all in this forum?

Just a newbie willing to learn.
82  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm officially not a newbie anymore!!! on: July 03, 2023, 10:36:28 PM
Congratulations on your effort so far. This shows you did not relent and wouldn't even dare because you have come this far.
A newbie like me, who have been offline due to some reasons and is back, have now been saddled with the task of relearning, re-equipping  and fine tuning my rusty knowledge on the Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies technology and market trading system topics.
Am encouraged by your success and resilience.

I got lot of work to do.
83  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The relationship between educational qualification and quality of post. on: July 03, 2023, 10:29:55 PM
Do you think the level of academic qualifications and life experience that a member of forum has, has a direct influence on the quality of post that  he/she makes here on this forum?
Do you feel users who are known to be quality posters in various boards are individuals with high educational qualifications and vast experience.

For the first question, I would say that the post of an individual who has a higher level of academic qualification and experience, would be way different because of the kind of words/diction they would use. Also the way the individual gets to make his analysis or reference would be clearly evident.
One thing I have observed though is that one has to actually get used to the terms and language of this forum, both adhering to the rules before any of his/her post be counted as quality.

Number 2 question actually has to do with individual reasoning and intelligence on a topic or subject. How well one can read, understand and interpret what he/she has read, most importantly, the ability to use their own words to express an idea informatively, make users the best quality posters.
84  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be patient, don't get discouraged. on: May 22, 2023, 08:13:41 AM
If your being in this forum is to gain merit so you can earn money in the signature campaign then you totally getting it wrong. This forum solely aim is to enlighten you more about crypto currency and bitcoin, and also guide you on how to invest your funds in the crypto world. There are alot to learn in this forum than just ranking up and earning money.

Many newbies believe that the purpose of joining a forum is to make money, which is why they become discouraged. However, forums are not places where you can simply walk in and get what you want; rather, you must learn before you know what you want to know. Additionally, joining a forum if you are unfamiliar with cryptocurrency may make you feel as though your participation is pointless.
I'm not saying this to brag about my rank; rather, I'm offering it as advice to any newbie to stop thinking of forums as places where people go to make quick money. If you do, you'll feel disheartened and start acting greedy toward other things.

I might be the most patient newbie for now, because I don't even understand yet how they earn here, not to talk more of how to get merit or rank up from what I have observed.
Am just wanting to learn on the crypto subject and see if I can make some passive income with skills I intend to gain here. My motivation to learn doesn't even make me think of being discouraged because I simply have faith and believe in the best outcome.
It is not bad to want to make money here too, because if it pays, Bitcoin will keep getting bigger and innovate to accommodate the new earners and as such more businesses will like to advertise here too.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Save Bitcoins for Future on: May 22, 2023, 07:54:40 AM
This is very informative mostly for a newbie like me still trying to figure out how to buy some coins and keep for sometime before I can figure out how to trade or invest in other crypto related service that would earn me profit.

For someone who is only making use of a mobile device for now, will it be safe to still download and use Electrum wallet on the mobile, seeing that there is no other device except on an OTG flash where I can save this wallet?

I also think that unless one is having a lot of coins before it should be necessary to use this kind of offline wallet, because it is not worth the stress of saving just little coins that may be used anytime.
86  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 22, 2023, 07:32:41 AM
The casino should have good stated and obvious reasons why it wants to conduct surveys from time to time. Otherwise, why should they?
Their concern should be for new users and old users to win and enjoy the benefits of them gambling.
Or is the assessment to determine who can benefit from what program they intend to introduce according to pocket size?
KYC has done that bit any other assessment is for just no ordinary reason at all.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin or cryptocurrency offer loan service? on: May 20, 2023, 11:46:02 PM
While decentralized system is the crypto currency or the Blockchain technology which is the where Bitcoin is built on.

Just to clarify, not all crypto currencies are decentralized; most altcoins are actually centralized.

Quote
Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies or exchange offer loan service?
If yes, what is some criteria that may be required?

Bitcoin itself doesn't give out loans to holders; one of the reasons is that it's decentralized and not controlled by anyone, but there are private entities and companies that give out crypto loans to people, and one of their conditions that you must meet is just as similar as those of the bank's  "collateral," but this time if the lending is to take place online, your collateral must be a valid crypto, either altcoins or Bitcoin, which will be deposited into an escrow account or your lender's account. This collateral protects the lender from completely running losses if you decide not to pack back.

Check out the forum lending board
If you actually need any loan, maybe you could find a suitable lender out there and meet up with their terms and conditions.

I didn't think there were altcoins which were also centralized. I learnt something new today.

Am guessing this is one reason why the KYC verification is also necessary to ensure the one seeking the loan don't disappear with or make loss in total.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I got my stubborn neighbour working for a central bank to adopt Bitcoin on: May 20, 2023, 11:35:58 PM
Am very sure the manner in which anyone starting out on a BTC journey is dependent on the manner in which they were approached.
I had a need to learn how to use BTC because I found myself in an environment that understand its use. I also was and still is the one asking about the technical terms and aspects I should understand and look out for inorder to get the best from it.
Your friend, the CBN director has the money, so he wouldn't mind trying out BTC as an investment he might likely not gain from should the worse happen. To someone else like me, it would have taken more than a whole year to have convinced me and even if I do buy the idea, how to come up with the funds for 1btc would become an issue too.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does Bitcoin or cryptocurrency offer loan service? on: May 20, 2023, 11:24:30 PM
I have understood what centralized and decentralized systems are and I know that banks are centralized with physical locations/attributes, with strict monetary policies governing it. While decentralized system is the crypto currency or the Blockchain technology which is the where Bitcoin is built on.

Both have helped to solve human financial problems in one way or the other, depending on the means which one earns from.
Ignoring all other features I could talk about and with my focus on loans schemes, I want to ask if as banks offer loans to individuals, companies even to the government, does Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies or exchange offer loan service?
If yes, what is some criteria that may be required?
90  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Buying stocks on Bamboo app versus buying Bitcoin to save as a beginner. on: May 18, 2023, 02:14:36 PM
Una well done o, I get one thought wey dey my mind on investment. Na about buying stocks and shares from any company using maybe Bamboo app versus buying Bitcoin to keep with any exchange wey dey sell.

91  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Importance of Mental Health Awareness in Nigeria. on: May 18, 2023, 01:53:29 PM
Make we try look into this mathias cuz mental health dey really underrated for we country nd na something wey we need to serious about cuz from there, even d change and betterment of d country wey we de talk about go begin workout.
Abeg how Una take reason this mathias?
I make sentence abi I de cap vatica?
Una reason with me say this awareness go actually fit go a long way in helping we country?

Oboy forget am, swallow am, na man you be, all this words na wetin dey kill most of the men for this country. This mental health issue na men dey suffer am pass for this country (I no care if statistics talk another thing). If you know how many man dey die in silence you go shout. Abeg make una dey try treat people right for anywhere una find otherselfs because people dey actually go through alot and I dey encourage everybody here to try talk to person if you notice say your own dum dey do you somehow. No dey shame, na talk dem go talk and e dun finish. If you allow shame kill you na ur own cup of tea be dat. Make we dey open up to one another.

If your own shame too much then go see doctor. Him fit help you tell you one or twos wey you fit dey use or do to help your mental health. Also try dey exercise and dey chop well. All this time go help you. No be only outside wahala dey cause mental issue. Both your own overthinking dey causes am therefore to eradicate this thing from the country or to reduce am well well to the bare minimum, den we need to put hands together to educate people to dey talk their mind when their own no good so people fit reason them wetin dem go do to reduced the loan wey dem dey carry for head.
As good as e be for person to yarn with other men them or brothers wey suppose understand, the truth be say no body really care about the issues wey dey bother man or put am for the kind mental condition wey em dey face.

Women go tell man say e too complain or make em be man and bear the emotional burden alone. Man go still tell man same thing or worse. Na only those wey get good heart and calm dey even bother at times to listen to person.
Sometimes sef, the person wey you think say you dey talk to in order to relief your mental state, fit even be the cause or follow contribute to the issue.

E always dey good to dey kind sha, because no be clear eye some people dey use wake up comot for house in the morning o.
Nigerian government suppose get better health care strictly for people wey get so much wey dey bother them for mind. Most times na just to talk dey wan talk. Before the how to solve their problem go come.
92  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: It would have been worse without Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general. on: May 17, 2023, 09:55:17 PM
I know the situation am in right now, not having an income that can help much in this economy.
For me, I haven't really earned from Bitcoin or any crypto but am sure it would be better and with more benefit compared to earning in my local currency which is Naira, where I am at the mercy of the banks or their charges and interest rates.
Bitcoin is a revelation and am happy to key into it, as it offers both independence and gives one the power over wealth creation and accumulation.
93  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / One overlooked factor. on: May 17, 2023, 09:48:38 PM
I was just wondering, one reason that has been overlooked as to why BTC has remained a dominant value of exchange to those who have come to accept it is, the advent of the internet and the idea of cryptocurrencies being on a block chain network which operates on the internet or online as fondly called.

As long as institutions in the country are dependent on the internet or web to transact and carry on with daily trades and commerce, cryptocurrencies would remain a feature that would  keep getting audience and users.
No matter how the government tries to ban or limit the use of cryptocurrencies, the main option should be to stop the internet from functioning. I bet this can't happen, as the disaster bound to happen would be tremendous.
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial education or 1million dollars on: May 17, 2023, 09:34:56 PM
Financial education is very important else how will one use 1million dollar to the greatest advantage?
Many of us went to universities and still don't know how to make reasonable investment that would yield double profits. Giving some of us this huge amount is just like handing us a credit card or giving us license to enjoy to maximum.
Financial education should be taught and introduced to younger age bracket range from seven at least. So as it becomes a second nature to the leaders of tomorrow.
95  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone stole your money with seed phase? on: May 17, 2023, 09:06:46 PM
I don't really know much about the seed phrase you mentioned, but if it has anything to do with the access to your coins/money in this case, it sure as hell can be stolen.
The only thing that might limit such someone from withdrawing or transferring all your funds is if they love you too well like family or are family. If they are also your brokers in most instances too.
If you let someone have your seed phrase it should mean you trust them and they, you.
96  Other / Beginners & Help / Which is more lucrative between mining and trading bitcoins? on: May 17, 2023, 09:35:29 AM
I am looking to start my Bitcoin journey from somewhere that would be of advantage to me as the economic situation in my country bears down hard and with having family to Carter for, it is rather exhausting.
Without much physical mentors with real life experiences except for YouTube and this forum where I feel I can ask good questions and be answered well, am asking, which is the more lucrative endeavour for a newbie hoping to benefit from cryptocurrency at first between Bitcoin mining and Bitcoin trading?

Are there other Bitcoin endeavours one could be interested and invested in, other than trading and mining?
97  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One beauty of heirachy in Bitcoin forum. on: May 17, 2023, 09:04:34 AM
A system of heirachy is just to show organization and this forum has shown it is very organized in both the way it handles its issues and others relating to spammers.
I have surfed through the boards so much so that I have understood what meaningful contribution is, this post is not out of place too as contributions from everyone makes it interesting irrespective of race, class, gender, technology.
I am hoping to be informed right with the experienced hands here so as not to loose out on the entire cryptocurrency market.

Congratulations, on your ranking up.
I admire your consistent effort in pushing yourself. I am seriously new here and I don't even know where to begin.
Am I only supposed to stick to beginners and help section for now?
I am also very much interested in Bitcoin and have considered taking offline classes once I get the funds.
Are there any specific criteria I have to meet here, before I start gaining or ranking up like you?
