81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can Bitcoin provide food for our table on: August 09, 2023, 06:27:20 AM
I think your idea of using Bitcoin to put food on the table is a good one. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency, which means it is not subject to government control or inflation. That's why it makes it a great store of value and can be used for free international payments as well.

If you can learn how to trade Bitcoin properly (99% of traders are NOT profitable), you can earn profits that you can use to buy food. Or, you can just invest in bitcoin for the long term, and just patiently wait for the value to increase over time.

Of course, Bitcoin is not a guaranteed way to make money. There is always a risk of losing money when trading or investing in Bitcoin. However, if you’re willing to take the risk, I think it’s a good investment that can put food on the table for you and your family.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top Crypto Execs Confident SEC Will Approve Spot Bitcoin ETFs on: August 09, 2023, 06:10:17 AM
I believe that there is still a chance for it to be approved. It's not certain. The SEC has previously rejected Bitcoin ETF applications so there's no guarantee they will approve this one now. And I think there's a possibility that the approval of the Bitcoin Spot ETF might be delayed until the end of the year. It seems like they might want to observe how the crypto market performs in the months before making their decision.

However, overall I personally maintain a positive outlook. Eventually, they will be approved and will serve as a catalyst for the industry.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decentralization debate on: August 09, 2023, 05:48:10 AM
You could tell them the network is spread out across the world with nodes in over 200+ countries, which makes it very difficult for a single entity to take control of the entire network.

You can also say that it's open source, so it's extremely hard for anyone to secretly encode malicious code into the protocol. These are just a few strong arguments as to why Bitcoin is decentralized.

Or maybe your friend already knows he's lost the argument, but just doesn't want to admit that to you? There are a lot of people like that Cheesy
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is FLUX the next 100x project ? on: August 08, 2023, 07:02:24 AM
Just found out about them today, and I am impressed! I think they are a very promising project. It has real world utility and impressive historical token performance. Fairly affordable setup for mining as well. Looking forward to more news about them.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What are your thoughts on Proof of Useful Work (PoUW)? on: August 08, 2023, 06:47:05 AM
I was wondering if any has any direct experience with Proof of Useful Work (PoUW) and what challenges and limitations you have, if any.

I just got introduced to it, and it seems like a fascinating consensus protocol that allows its miners to do useful work that can solve real-world problems like data classification, protein folding, deepfake detection, etc.

And you can also mine coins like Flux, REM, and PAI Coin. Curious if anyone here has any experience in this. Thanks in advance!
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Turns Profitable with Bitcoin and Plans for More Growth on: August 07, 2023, 06:00:01 AM
MicroStrategy are the ultimate crypto evangelists. They are the masters of DCA and are now reaping the benefits of DCA. Bullish on MicroStrategy, but please leave some BTC for the rest of the global population.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC will hit new high, as crypto bull billionaire predict on: August 07, 2023, 05:55:21 AM
Larry Fink got orange-pilled, and now he’s seeing green Grin That's all there is to it. Everyone else is welcome to join the Bitcoin bandwagon. The more the merrier!
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 04, 2023, 06:55:32 AM
I think mining Bitcoin could be better than buying Bitcoin for several reasons. First, mining Bitcoin is more stable and predictable than buying Bitcoin. You don’t have to worry about the price fluctuations and market risks of Bitcoin. You can earn a steady income from your mining machine every day, as long as you have enough electricity and internet connection.

Second, mining Bitcoin is more rewarding and satisfying than buying Bitcoin. You can feel the joy of creating new bitcoins and contributing to the security and decentralization of the network. You can also learn more about the technology and innovation behind Bitcoin.

Third, mining Bitcoin is more cost-effective and profitable than buying Bitcoin. You don’t have to pay high fees and commissions to buy Bitcoin from exchanges or brokers. You can also take advantage of cloud mining services that offer low-cost and high-performance mining machines.

That's why I think mining is better because you can get more bitcoins for less money.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending on Harlots/Hook Up Girls Instead of Investing in Bitcoin. on: August 04, 2023, 06:50:46 AM
Bitcoin is not just a way to make money, it’s a way to create a more decentralized and fair world. It’s a way to challenge the status quo and the corruption of the elites. It’s a way to empower the people and the communities.

Bitcoin is not something you invest in for selfish reasons, it’s something you invest in for altruistic reasons. It’s something you invest in for the future of humanity and the planet.

So, if you really want to invest in Bitcoin, don’t do it because you want to be rich, do it because you want to be part of a movement. Don’t do it because you want to avoid women, do it because you want to support women. Don’t do it because you want to discipline yourself, do it because you want to liberate yourself.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Another Good Source Of Motivation For You ... on: August 03, 2023, 08:29:00 AM
Great analogy LOL. I think it's definitely true that we tend to be more willing to spend money on things that give us immediate gratification, like food or entertainment. But when it comes to investing in something that could have long-term financial benefits, we're more likely to hesitate.

I think the reason for this is that we're naturally risk-averse. We don't want to spend money on something that might not pan out. But the reality is, there's always some risk involved in any investment.

Volatility is the price you MUST pay for a brighter future.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When it's all set and done, do not forget those in need. on: August 03, 2023, 08:21:22 AM
Agree. The true value of Bitcoin is not in how much it can make us rich, but in how much it can inspire us to share our blessings with others.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: risk of centralization of bitcoin. on: August 03, 2023, 07:21:42 AM
Here are a few ideas to maintain decentralization:
  • Supporting more decentralized pools
  • Using easily installable software that allows anyone to create a high-quality mining pool would create more competition and diversity among miners
  • Adopting 16nm ASICs could reduce the gap between large and small miners by making mining more efficient and affordable
  • Educating and incentivizing miners: Miners should be aware of the risks and benefits of joining different pools and make informed decisions based on their values and goals. Miners should also be incentivized to switch pools if they notice that mining centralization is affecting the network’s health or price.

93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Borrow to Buy Bitcoin is Not Advisable.Consider the Factors Before Doing That. on: August 02, 2023, 06:03:50 AM
I agree that using borrowed money to buy bitcoin is not a good idea for the reasons you mentioned. Another factor to consider is the volatility of bitcoin’s price, which can make it hard to predict when you will be able to sell at a profit or break even. Bitcoin’s price can fluctuate by thousands of dollars in a matter of hours or days, and sometimes it can enter prolonged periods of decline or stagnation.

If you borrow money to buy bitcoin, you are exposing yourself to the risk of losing more than you invested, especially if you use leverage or margin trading. You may also face additional fees or penalties from your lender if you fail to repay the loan on time or if your collateral value drops below a certain threshold.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoin Does MicroStrategy Own In 2023? on: August 02, 2023, 05:58:33 AM
They just keep buying and buying... I wonder what the implications will be now that they're close to owning 1% of the total Bitcoin supply...

And how are they using their Bitcoin holdings to enhance their business intelligence services and products anyway?
95  Other / Off-topic / Mega Millions jackpot soars over $1 billion. How would you spend it if you won? on: August 01, 2023, 06:00:04 AM
Since April, there have been no Mega Millions jackpot winners, leading to a continuous growth of the lottery's grand prize, which now exceeds $1 billion. As tonight's drawing approaches (Aug. 1, 11 p.m. ET in the US), the estimated jackpot stands at $1.05 billion, with a cash option of $527.9 million. This amount ties it to the fourth-largest prize in the lottery's history.

Imagine if you won! WOW. I would choose the cash option, buy a small island, make it high-tech, set up mining rigs that utilize green energy, create jobs, and have my own personal army. How about you?
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Way to explain what is the bitcoin on: August 01, 2023, 05:47:35 AM
Here's my analogy. Imagine the world of finance as a vast ocean, and traditional money as a collection of various containers like bottles, buckets, and barrels. Each container represents a different form of currency, such as the US dollar, Euro, or Japanese Yen.

Now, in this ocean, there is a unique and extraordinary cup called Bitcoin. Unlike the other containers, Bitcoin's cup is much larger and more special. It's like a magical cup with infinite capacity, capable of holding an enormous amount of value – much more than any other container in the entire ocean.

The ocean represents the flow of money and wealth in the global economy, with transactions constantly moving like waves. The smaller containers, like coins and other cryptocurrencies, try to capture as much money as they can from the flowing ocean. But due to their limited capacity, they get filled quickly and need to be emptied frequently.

On the other hand, Bitcoin's cup, being so much larger, can capture a massive amount of value from the ocean. It has the unique ability to collect and hold a substantial share of the money flowing through the financial system. This is why Bitcoin is often referred to as "digital gold" – it can store and preserve wealth on a much grander scale.

Just like a savvy investor who recognizes the incredible potential of Bitcoin, someone who owns this special cup can accumulate wealth and watch it grow over time. Of course, there are risks, and the value of Bitcoin can fluctuate with the tides of the financial ocean. But those who hold onto their Bitcoin cup during both calm and stormy waters have the opportunity to capture a significant share of the world's wealth, making it a unique and powerful asset in the vast ocean of finance.
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your reasons for adopting cryptocurrency? on: August 01, 2023, 05:40:03 AM
My adoption of crypto, mainly Bitcoin, is driven by several factors:

  • Decentralization: Bitcoin operates without a central authority, giving users more control over their funds.
  • Scarcity: With a capped supply of 21 million coins, Bitcoin preserves its value over time.
  • Financial Inclusion: Bitcoin offers access to the global economy for the unbanked and underbanked.
  • Hedge Against Uncertainty: Bitcoin can act as a safe haven during economic and political turmoil.
  • Transparency: The public nature of the Bitcoin blockchain ensures accountability.
  • Philosophical Belief: Bitcoin embodies principles of freedom, empowerment, and privacy.

They go beyond mere profit and reflect my belief in Bitcoin's potential to revolutionize finance and empower individuals globally.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Dilemma of a Novice Miner on: July 31, 2023, 07:26:10 AM
The Iceriver KS3 miner is not compatible with Bitcoin mining. Bitcoin uses a different algorithm called SHA-256, which requires different hardware and software. The Iceriver KS3 miner can only mine Kaspa (KAS), which is a relatively new and unknown cryptocurrency that has very low market value and liquidity. According to CoinMarketCap, as of this writing, one KAS is worth $0.03802 USD, and the total market cap of KAS is $756,995,505 USD. Do what you will with that info and good luck!
99  Economy / Economics / Re: The Vulture "Economist" on: July 31, 2023, 07:14:27 AM
He learned the hard way that being too stingy can backfire. When I was in college, I had a friend who always borrowed money from me and never paid me back. He always had some excuse or promise, but he never kept his word.

One day, he asked me to lend him $50 for an emergency. I agreed, but I secretly wrote “I owe you $50” on a piece of paper and put it in his wallet when he wasn’t looking.

The next day, he came to me and said he had found the money he needed and wanted to return my $50. He handed me his wallet and told me to take the money.

I opened it and saw the note I had written. I showed it to him and said “Look, you already owe me $50. You can’t pay me with my own money.”

He was speechless and embarrassed. He realized I had tricked him and exposed his dishonesty. He apologized and promised to pay me back as soon as possible. He never borrowed money from me again.
