81  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What, why spam payments on: October 03, 2014, 04:28:38 PM
First I received 2. They both were confirming for days. Then 1 disappeared from my account and the other finally finished the next day. Yesterday I received 3 more. I thought maybe because of my joke above where I said send me 1 satoshi. 2 confirmed in around an hour. The third one is still going and looks like it is going to be awhile. Strange since there are fees with each one. I don't understand what would motivate sending these but who am I to argue with free satoshi? :-P

I turned off my S1s last week as well. They were running at a loss because of electricity cost in L.A. and low bitcoin price. Still running a few S3s for now.

Anybody know how to tell what batch?
85  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 has low hashrate on: October 02, 2014, 03:19:42 AM
5 minutes after getting a little happy that it hit 450 it dropped back down to 360. Sad

I went to the police after getting a bad check written on a closed account and after they finished making lots of noise about how they were going to hunt down the culprit and prosecute them for fraud they didn't do a god damned thing.

I don't know how to check what batch it is. Its been running for a couple weeks at 3 different pools. I use M's antmonitor to keep an eye on things and it's running at 450 GH/s instead of 495 I'm used to seeing on other S3s. 450 is an improvement.

I have 1 S3 that has a low hashrate. I set to 250 with the miner configuration web page. I opened the asic-freq file and made sure it was set to 250. Still hashes under 400 GH/s. Any suggestions? I haven't loaded latest firmware. Should I?

I was suspecting my network but I have another S3 overclocked and hashing fine. I changed ports on the switch it was connected to. I was using a wireless bridge and changed it to a cabled connection to the router. Ive tried a couple lower frequencies but always under 400.

There are no Xs or dashes. All 0s.

The online wallet service is coinbase. The first one sent had a 0.0003 fee. The second one that is still confirming has a .0004 fee. I dont get why anyone would do this and incur the fees. They also suggested that I change the address regularly but if I use it it's out there anyway. If it continues I'll change it.

I received a payment in my online wallet for 1 satoshi. It has been confirming for days. It has 70 outputs listed each for 1 satoshi. I asked tech support what this was about and they said it was a spam payment, my security wasn't compromised and I should just ignore it. This is the second one of these I've received.
Why would anybody send these? Whats the point. Anybody know anything about spam payments?

The PPNLS Shift history is missing closed shifts (at least in my browser):

It doesn't effect payouts but thought I'd mention it.

We didn't get paid for those, no blocks found...

Weird. I'm not seeing the gaps in shift id numbers. All shifts are there.

Slush and Eligius have moved next to BTC Guild in the hashrate distribution chart. I notice this happening from time to time. Not sure what's going on. Normally they are a smaller slice of the pie. Anybody know why some pools percentage of the network bounce around like this? Pool hopping?
