Genesis is going to be announcing a new promotion called miner of the week.  Seems to be pretty kick ass

Since they allow you to tinker with which coins you mine, they are giving away free contracts every week to the top most profitable miners.

I think the reward is 100MH contract and 150GH or something like that. ->Don't quote me there.
82  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining Asics Technoligies Question? on: November 16, 2014, 05:30:32 AM
Great question. I do not have a titanium in right now. Last i talked to marc about Sha gear he had put priority on the excalibur stuff because the btc diff was going through the roof.  I will ask him on our call tomorrow for you though. however, to be honest with all the stupidity that has been online lately that is 100% just that... I would bet that the move will probably be just to go down the scrypt route and not tape more wafers for sha.  Because right now scrypt stuff is way more profitable for the price of the hardware.

Were you looking at getting one?

As i said ive not talked to him about the sha gear for a good 3 months or so.

Ok this has gone on far enough.

My name is Marshall CTO of FinalHash. You may know my company from running the Biggest Mining conference called Hashers United.

Here is the end all be all of what is really up with MAT.

First off let me preface this by saying that I have been personally working on this project with Marc for quite some time.  You may also know that FinalHash has consulted on many many scrypt asics.  Including some of the most popular ones on the market right now.

Here is really what happened.  Roadstress got a message I'm sure from marc's old partner Bjorn.  Bjorn went off the deep end around 2 months ago.  He changed the facebook password, google plus password, twitter, and even took over marc's email for some time.  I can personally verify this because i jumped on the smtp server and changed everything.  Bjorn has been going around to many people saying all these retarded things like, Oh the machines are not real blah blah blah.  Whatever.  Regardless of all this crap, I am here to say none of this stupidity floating around is even close to being true.

Firstly,  I have several MAT machines right now.  Don't think this is real?  Here is a picture i literally took 5 minutes ago, with my freaking face in it so you know it is not bs.  So first myth floating around is that the machines are not real... well hate to break it to all the nay sayers but Myth Busted.

Secondly,  Saying that customers will not get their refunds... For whoever wants a refund, just freaking email marc and tell him you want one.  It is not hard.  Not sure why you would want a refund but whatever.

And on the statement of machines available... clearly that is not the case as I PERSONALLY have many many machines.

So regardless of all the BS floating around here are the facts. Cold and hard.

The machines are real. They are shipping now. And an old partner of MAT has gone rogue. Period.

Now on to something on a productive note.  I will be releasing a full spec sheet verified by FinalHash on this machine THIS WEEK.
P.S. Nothing bad on RoadStress's part. He I'm sure was just passing along a message that he felt was credible. Which up until this point he probably thought was true. No harm no foul.  This is why I am speaking up.  Too Much BS in the air.

84  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 15, 2014, 03:31:39 PM
I think overall theirs is probably around 7 or 8 cents per MH (scrypt) and something like 8 cents per 10GH.
85  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 14, 2014, 11:38:24 AM
What about doge merged mining? Any word on that?

Well i know that we just added it to our pool.

Also, Marco is always up to the things that make everyone more money... So i would say... most def.

Finalhash - any plans to convert older members to lifetime memberships?

If not then this is extremely unfair on people, like myself, who paid 0.433 Btc less 3 months ago but now the subscription is a lifetime membership for only 0.076 Btc!!

Please try and talk him into it Smiley

Thanks,
Stephen

They are doing that.

Look here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=602022.msg8763406#msg8763406

and this specific piece of text

All customers who purchased yearly contracts from us get a free upgrade to lifetime contracts after expiration!

Hope that helps! Smiley

Yeah what he said Smiley
88  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 12, 2014, 01:59:31 PM
I'm committed to trying Genesis-Mining... but not more than $150 on my first go... and not paying $10 for a wire transfer since I'm only committing less than $150 to try out a new vendor I don't know much about.

I don't mind jumping through hoops to pay (only accepting DOGE, or PayPal, or Coinbase, or CC, etc) but I'm not going to eat a $10 bank fee... From the looks of this thread... others aren't willing to either.

I highly suggest you relay that to Marco. It looks like you already have (and hes already trying to rectify the situation) but the reality is he could even accept BTC in less than 5 min. There really is no excuse.

So tbh last night you had me tripping dude. I did not even take the time to check and just sent marco a message. He was equally confused. So I checked just now... and yes of course they take BTC. Screenshot here i took literally 5 minutes ago. http://imgur.com/0kdYBrv

So maybe clarify on what you said? I may have not understood what you were upset about.
89  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 12, 2014, 04:58:38 AM
Ah snap BATteller!

Dude i did not even know he was not accepting BTC?! Dafuq?

let me ring him... cuz that is weird.  Clearly i feel like that must be a over sight from a dev standpoint because who in their right mind would not take it. That seems super weird to me and probably everybody else.

let me send him a skype right now.

Will touch base.
90  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 11, 2014, 12:16:40 PM
well i mean when you look at it now it is a pretty competitive platform.
91  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 10, 2014, 09:42:45 PM
to clarify... there are no pool fees or anything like that. There is always a hosting fee just like everybody has. Including GAW. I mean they do have electrical costs. They are low which means the fee is usually low from a maintenance fee. So not sure how much GM charges but i think it is very nominal it is something like 8 cents or something really low because they have to pay for electricity. I mean you cannot expect folks to give you cheap megahash AND free power... that is nuts.
92  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 10, 2014, 08:15:01 PM
Just had another call with Marco,

He said he is in the process of getting credit cards up.  He is on a call with the bank actually now.  Since it is international and all that he has to jump through some hoops it sounds like. Should be getting those online by end of next week.

Also, As i mentioned before you can use the code BTCTALK for 5% off
93  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 09, 2014, 04:19:02 PM
No chance of me making a ROI with these guys as things stand unfortunately.

I took my 1 year contract out on the 10th of June for 0.433 Btc for 2 Mhz (approximately $277.12).

So far, earnings in just under 3 months have come to $66. The rate of earnings is decreasing steadily however, with approximately only $11 earnt over the past 27 days!

I think if BTC price gets back above $720 dollars this should make a ROI, but if the price continues to stay low there is zero chance of making a ROI.

If however you do feel like experimenting with the service then please click my affiliate link, as if your confident on an increase in Btc price this should make you some profit.
I was thinking about starting with them. Now I think it would be better to wait and let's see what is going to happen with BTC. Thanks a lot for your helpful information.

I also use Genesis Mining, not very happy with the result, it is highly unlikely I will be reaching ROI.
There are far better cloud mining services out there, I use a couple of these and I can compare results easily.

So I just spoke with Marco about things last night. (Marco is the CEO of genesis). He is launching LifeTime Contracts today and upgrading all other previous folks to the same. Now, from what he told me, a lifetime contract is one that you get for as long as there is profit on the machine. So meaning a good long while seeing as how they have dirt cheap power. So this kind of changes things for you I would presume, no?

95  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: September 06, 2014, 05:54:55 PM
This happens all the time. Good intentioned folks get too overwhelmed and then get fed up.
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: September 06, 2014, 04:13:51 AM
What the community at large do not understand IMHO is this.

Most people see the fact of cloud mining as (why would you not just mine with the equipment yourself)

The answer is not as straight forward as one may think

When the general market goes and buys hardware, they are usually getting it from one of the many distributors of the manufacturers. The distributors buy wholesale and then mark it up. Now, when you have an extremely large order, the factories will talk to you directly making you a really great deal often times below wholesale, because nowadays most distributors drop ship.

So, this means that because the big cloud providers such as genesis can get ridiculously good pricing on hardware, that they can now focus on providing great things like, customer support, maintenance, hosting facilities, and many more. At the end of the day, the community as a whole benefits greatly when the greater general world has an easy and affordable way to get into mining. Taking the pain out of mining for newbies. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

I know there will be somebody who says under this post that mining is stupid simple, and the fact is, yes for most younger people and/or technically inclined folks, it is. However, the people who need to be in crypto to make it more profitable and overall a better space are the older ppl. Because if you don't know... OLD FOLKS GOT MONEY! And if they get involved they stimulate the economy landscape that is crypto. Not just for money's sake but for the crypto economy as a whole. And then the whole market benefits.

Do you not think that the big contract companies do not know this?  Of course they know it. This is why they are still in business. They are not dumb. And in this way when they provide a service that lets you get mining without your wife or husband getting mad at you for the noise and heat. That is a win.
97  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 06, 2014, 04:06:28 AM
Hey Blue,

Talked to Marco again.

Got Great News for you.

Here is a promo code for genesis contracts

BTCTALK

It is a 5% off code. I just checked that it works and it does.

Not sure if that helps but In all honesty i think changing your account specifically would definitely cause problems. Although, i do know that there are some really nice things coming out soon.

98  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 05, 2014, 01:39:03 PM
Hey Blue,

Great feedback.

I took some of your concerns to Marco Streng yesterday night and this morning.

When i said run those numbers only using bitcoin, just wanted to see them. I was not assuming you would be better or worse off, i just think it is important to do it that way so you can truly see what the deficit is.

Also, you have to take into account electricity usage when mining at home.

None, the less. You are right. I think it is important to really dig down into the ROI issue.

I talked with him and he said that somebody pointed out that their other 2 years contracts had a bug in the pricing. He said his team fixed it and compensated folks who got jived by that bug by upgrading their accounts.

Also, I told him he needs to realign pricing, and this will be happening soon according to Marco.

Also on the topic of this.

Quote
Perhaps they should have offered members a goodwill upgrade to help compensate for the (almost) halving of the subscription cost in the past 3 months....that would have been an appreciated gesture which would have had minimal cost to Genesis-mining (as equipment is significantly more power efficient and cheaper per Mhs than in June).

I am not sure about if he would do this or not, but IMHO i think it would be fair if and only if hardware during that time period also saw a similar drop off in price. You know?

99  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 05, 2014, 01:32:28 PM
Jesus.......I was comparing the cost/income in dollar terms as due to the cost of these packages it will be quite rare that people are lucky enough to pay for cloud mining packages purely out of the bitcoins they have generated.

Anyway, for the sake of comparison I spent an hour of my life adding up my earnings so far.

Results are as follows (in bitcoin as this is what finalhash appreciates!):

Earnings over first 85 days of contract:                                                    0.13658912 Btc

Average earnings per dayover past 20 day period:                                    0.000759809 Btc

Projected earnings over final 280 days assuming NO increase in difficulty:  0.21274638 Btc

Therefore total income projected for my annual contract is:                       0.3493355 Btc

The contract cost me 0.433 Btc, so projected loss in Bitcoin of 0.0836645 Btc!!!

Obviously, as I said before the likelihood of script difficulty increasing significantly for the rest of the year is high due to increasing ASIC manufacturers jumping onboard, so these results will probably be worse than expected unless there are significant gains in prices of alt coins to compensate.

Therefore, even without this risk I couldn't really recommend them unfortunately - although the website GUI is easy to use.

So just talked to Marco about this. He said they will be launching lifetime contracts immediately because of this. He feels like it will help this situation along with something he keeps calling project X.
100  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 04, 2014, 07:11:30 PM
now run those same numbers if you had bought similar hardware.
