David Zimbeck - USA / Cambodia - Born and raised in Los Angeles, California and currently living in Cambodia. David is a long time cryptography & bitcoin community member and widely respected developer / creator of Black Halo technology for BlackCoin. He is the lead developer of the BitBay Project and our development team manager. He also enjoys a good game of chess.

Rick K. - New York, New York - Private sector entrepreneur and online marketplace expert. Rick is our mainland China liaison with Alibaba.com. Rick has signed an NDA and therefore the public scope of his involvement with BitBay will reflect that agreement. Rick is coordinating the integration of established vendors into the marketplace.

Jay Lin - United Kingdom - American born and raised in the United Kingdom. Jay Lin grew up in London, earned his computer science degree from University College London and has spent much of his career there, but his family roots are in Taiwan (ROC). Speaking several asian languages and culturally fluent in Asian business methods and etiquette, Jay is head of marketing and brand management for BitBay.

Nicos - Russia - Crypto enthusiast since 2012. Computer science degree. Marketing experience. Nicos earned his cred in the rough and tumble years of the new Russian capitalism, and has ties with some major bitcoin payment processors. Holly - Taiwan - Manufacturing, Factory management, Connections with top Alibaba vendors. Holly comes from one of Taiwan's most deeply rooted commercial families and has over 20 years experience with sourcing western production in Chinese factories. She also holds a NDA agreements with several online marketplace companies. Her most recent specialization has been mass production of cellphone accessories including iPhone cases. Holly found her way to us through her latest venture, supplying bitcoin ATM’s to Taiwan and Mainland China.

AltcoinUK, your concerns are understood. The funds that are being raised are for future development purposes and expanding our company resources (hiring more developers, attending conventions, making business relationships with vendors, and marketing). To ask for a more precise ledger of every business expense is simply not something we want/can do at this time. Our business will grow organically and we ask that if you do not wish to be a part of the project you simply resign to the sidelines or wait until January so you can see our project come into fruition. Hopefully once you see a working decentralized marketplace that we WILL bring to you your concerns will be alleviated.

You are absolutely correct. And marketing is a sizable portion of our budget. That much said, BitBay has very specific cultural and global challenges it faces, and the 'marketing' of BitBay in this opening phase is as much about building bridges and making connections as anything else - especially in Asia. This has been a big part of our focus the last month. If you check back on the website later this week there will be more information about the people who have been taking the lead for us in these areas.

BitBay has licensed the Black Halo tech, and David is our lead dev. However the scope of the BitBay project is quite a bit larger than the tech implementation. It is a worldwide online decentralized marketplace with many added features. All the details in the OP.

The answer to your questions lies in scaling. We are going from an original team of a half dozen to well over a hundred people involved during the next 2 months, this spread over many time zones. The same is true with all IT solutions, only here the numbers must scale to the millions of users.

This is before the cost of vendor relations, airfares, meetings staff expenses and countless other categories that fill the red side of the sheet.

You seem to be implying a single server and a Skype chatroom will get us where we want to go. However, where we want to go is the level of Ebay and beyond. This is our business structure and plan, as we have made quite clear. This is the root of the misunderstanding about 3000 btc. It is a substantial sum - until you start thinking about taking on Ebay.

By IT infrastructure we are referring to the architecture that surrounds the entire marketplace. Obviously the blockchain and core functions are basically P2P but there is an entire constellation of related functions that must work flawlessly together from the start. Forums, vendor relations, our internal communications, the nascent hedging / pegging coordination, reputations systems etc. are all being worked on.

The revenue model for investors is not primarily based on marketplace transactions. Two of the most important valuation criterea are:

1) the growth of the original valuation (about 1 million) to what a world encompassing decentralized marketplace will be worth. (Insert your figure here : -)  )

2) the pegging and hedging mechanisms described by David in earlier posts. If you have not had the time to read them please do - it is quite interesting.
