For oil cooling, the 1300watt is too concentrated not to use the fans and/or high flow pump....

Immersion cooling is not for sissies. Its an industrial solution that uses industrial parts and systems for reliability and durability. If you are going that route, I would use a PLC to control and monitor the system. Low coolant level (as in a leak) shutdown or switchover to pump circuit B, monitor for primary pump failure  with auto switch over to the secondary pump, over heating auto shutdown, an messaging/paging/system alarm...etc etc.

Sounds overkill but in reality, what you spend for the miners is not peanuts, with the amount of heat that needs to be carried and disapated, are you really willing to trust some plastic 1/2 garden pump to run 24/7 for months on end... only to fail and have the oil at a stand still which then cooks your miners? All happening with out you knowing it?

Look for hydronic furnace pumps and valves. I would not use a USED automotive radiator, too much conductive water is trapped inside which will cycle through with the oil as neat little blobs which will attach to your miner circuit boards and short out the miners. Remove the AIR COOLING FANS, use pump to circulate the oil within the tank and a separate pump with fail over pump to pump the hot oil to the cooling tower or radiator with fan.

Just my 1/2 cent worth of babble.....

And, for my next question.

Has anyone dabbled with the S7 firmware and added a "round robin" command so the miner will cycle through the listed URLs in the miner configuration?

Back in the stone age when the S2 was popular, there was some people who had their S2's doing just that by editing the firmware by connecting to the miner via SSH.

Has anyone tried that with the S7?  I'm sure that will be a nifty feature to have when bitcoin is no longer the #1 coin ( actually, BTC has not been the #1 coin for some time now. )

Thanks

I need to pick someone's brain about solo mining PEERCOIN with S7's

For whatever reason I just cannot get it going and yes, I'm running a full node with plenty of incoming connections. The router is configured properly. It a matter of getting the miners to talk to the node/wallet. and yes again, I'm running the latest version v0.5.2

If someone is mining PEERCOIN with their S5 or S7, please post your ppcoin.conf file, and what you use for the URL to talk to the wallet.

Thanks

BTW.... My head hurts from beating it on the keyboard....

http://ppcoin.securepayment.cc/

Yeah.... I have a few pointed there at the moment, BUT..... there is still a "middle man" in the mix. Someone I don't know, its a very small solo pool, kinda new, etc... with how much scamming there is surrounding cryptocurrencies, I'm very leery with just about everything. The less people with their fingers in the pie the better security and stronger the network.

With PPC being a low enough diff and I have most definitely enough hash-power here, I could make solo mining worth while.... but, I would like to cut out the middle man and mine TRUE SOLO .... using the full wallet/node.

Not only to satisfy my paranoia (puts on his tinfoil has and twiddles his fingers while looking slyly out the window from behind the closes blinds)........  but also to learn... err ... relearn, how to solo mine. I did it years ago with other coins. The wife giving me gray hair and plenty of stress, the whisky and the drugs the doc wants me to take equals : "Duh.... I don't remember sh!t anymore" and the stuff that I find online is soooooo outdated.

So, to be helpful and educational, could someone could post their ppcoin.conf file and their miner settings (URL and port #), what ports to forward at the router --- there seems to be  A LOT of confusion on RPC port and the "network" port posted online IE 9901, 9902, now 9903 and 9904 I've seen mentioned more recently.

Thanks

chicken wings for dinner..... hell, I just may get a big container of chicken livers and deep fry them too .... 'cause someone put a hex of this pool.

bed no but i am going to have to start repairing these playstation 1 / 2 / atari 2600 / nintendo / and xbox 360's soon so that will have my time for a while

one question. Why?

secondly: getting to work and seeing that 5 blocks were found definitely makes the day at a crappy job better. unfortunately the power company doesnt take btc as payment so a day job is a must.

i run a buy sell trade booth at a local flea market here in missouri

Ahh too bad you weren't closer to me in NJ .

I have a ton of stuff to get rid of.

Ditto. 1/2 one of my garages is full of .... stuff..
I don't want to talk about it, I have soooo much crap.

two sheds.
a short attic.
½ of a two car garage.
and a dry crawl space.

Most likely 3 or 4 k worth or stuff maybe 5k.

but at least a week to clean and sort  and I am too lazy to do it.

You see that garage show on DIY network
or the  attic treasures show.

I would not mind them coming to my home.

spring is right around the corner... rummage sales and yard sales.... bitcoin accepted here.... :-)

Ya don't have to move the stuff far.... and if it dosent sell, scrap it. Tear em apart. Separate the sheet aluminum from the extruded aluminum, all steel and screws separated, circuit boards into another bin, wire into another, power supplies - strip them....

I just did that to a pile of block erupter cubes, BFL SC60's, GardenBTC blades, Avalon 1's and 2's and any other miners I deemed ... doomed.

Next on my recycle list is this pile of Gridseed 5 chip miners... unless someone here wants to buy em....

I can't believe you guys are still buying.  I have buyers remorse on these things.  According to my calculations I need Kano's pool to hit about 686 more blocks without my per block payout going down just to break even.  Without a doubt I would have been better off holding BTC than buying these.

bitcoin isnt the only coin these things mine..

figure to mine bitcoin until its not profitable, then switch to ppc or dgc..

eggZACTLY .... There are MANY other sha-256d coins that can be mined with S7's.
( said with a mouth full of a toasted egg salad sandwich with crumbs flying as I speak... lol)

I've been taking daily random timed notes, up to 3 times a day, of what the top 5 SHA-256d coins are at that time and what exchanges are being used to get the top exchange value. I've been noticing that BTC has been consistently below the exchange rates of a select few coins, but those coins do not REMAIN SOLIDLY above BTC. However they remain within the top 5 or very very close to it and frequently rise above BTC sometimes for hours at a time. Its like more or less a random rotation of the same few coins rotating around BTC.

Now I'm not talking about these flash high values from pump and dumps and what-not, If I see a flash value in my notes, I disregard that top spurious value and take the next 5 which are more along the lines of normal.

Its not the old days where BTC was ALWAYS the top valued coin.

With BTC halving coming up soon, I'm HOPING FOR a rise in BTC value and a dramatic reduction in diff due to a mass reduction in network hashrate because a lot of people will find mining BTC will be unprofitable. However I'm preparing for BTC to do just that, Become un-profitable. Thus the reason why I'm mapping and charting the sha-256d coins, looking for what coins are looking to become the next best thing. These coins have survived the time test, they are not some new fangled coin claiming to do this and that, only for the devs to scam everyone ( Paycoin for example ). These coins I'm charting have a "following", are traded on several exchanges, the values have stabilized from their initial "new coin madness" etc etc.

Sooo, in prep for BTC halving, I've been mining some of the other coins to make a small stash of coins hoping that one or more of these coins will become the "bitcoin 2.0". Thus the use of the S5's.

My S7's are in production mode on BTC. The S7 BTC production pays for the electric, which unfortunately, I'm in Wisconsin with $0.1411 KW/h electric rates but has been allowing me to buy several more S7's as well. Now if I was in North Dakota, I'd be rolling in the dough with their cheap electric rates.

So you see, there are other coins to mine....  saying to someone, you will never ROI is only half correct. While true for BTC, there are many other coins that you can make your ROI on, especially if you take on an investing aproach.

Thanks Rich.... I have an S5 that needs a BBB, of which I can pick up locally.

And Aarons6, I actually forgot about that... I'll have to look into changing that. Thanks for the reminder
89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 02, 2016, 05:21:13 AM
Does anyone know if the Ethernet port on the S7 is 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ?

and second

Has anyone had a BeableBoneBlack (the controller/logic board on the S5's and S7's) go bad and you stuck a full featured, retail version of the BBB on the miner? Did it work?

You can buy retail BBB from Bitmain so yes. But you're assuming the daughter/IO board would be in perfect working condition to do so.

I think its 10/100 but it doesnt really matter.

No, from what I saw, the bitmain BBB is a stripped version. The retail version has all kinds of nifty things including HDMI output.... and the Bitmain version costs more.  The Bitmain Tech way .... costs more, get less.

I'm kind of thinking, digging through the way back past recollections ... that the BBB is 10/100/1000.

I'm re-configuring my network.... I'm tired of my wifes Nook (which runs only dynamic IP addressing, no way to give it a static IP), signing on to the network when she comes home and causing an IP conflict, essentially forcing one of my miners offline even though the miner has a static IP address. I dont know what kind of hack and crap fork those Barns and Noble bookworms made, but its utter shizzle. DHCP is suppose to "pick a free IP address" where as a static ip address is forced to use the specified address.

Now that I think of it.... my internet is 60 MEGAbit down 4 MEGAbit up .... a 10/100 MEGAbit interface is a lot bigger pipe than my internet connection.... sooo, I know where to put my GIGAbit network devices now.... Derrr.... sometimes ya just need to talk it out to get the A-HA! moment.

Kilobit is slower than Megabit, Megabit is slower than Gigabit

I put in an order but when I went to pay my bank said the swift number was incomplete. They need 11 digits. Anyone have an idea what it is?
https://www.google.com/search?q=swift+number&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Hmm looks like the lady at the bank was just stupid and she just needed to add XXX to the number they gave me.

yeah, wiring money is a rare thing now. When I bought my first batch of S7's I had to wire funds because I just was not producing enough BTC with 4 S2's to get in on the S7's not knowing that Bitmain would carry them so long. I've seen them run out quick before.

When I wired the funds at a bank with branches nationally (USA) , I was being helped by the branch manager. She NEVER in her entire career in banking had to wire money for a customer. 3 cups of coffee and hour later, after the manager was on the phone to the banks corporate help line, finally the funds were sent and within 2 weeks, I had my S7's.

That last few purchases have been with BTC.... so much easier, so much CHEAPER ( the bank raked me over the coals for $55 to wire money internationally )

What are the correct ports for eMark?

I found one website saying RPCport=6666

another says RPCport=18512 and P2P ( I'm assuming this is the connect=<portnumber> ) of 8512

And yet another website lists port 5556

Soooo .... will the real slim shady please stand up .......

Someone PLEASE, let me know what is the RPC port and the connect port.

Thank you.

By fooking around, I found what worked.

rpcport=5555
port=5556

YAY! look at all those nodes I'm connected too ...whoot!

bah ... It seems I have finally fallen prey to Bitmains lack of Quality Control.... One of the batch 11, S7's I received is a bit grumpy at the stock 700mhz. I kept getting the red led, beeping with the log saying the fifo is empty, self reseting, and not to mention a fairly high amount of hardware errors.

All the other S7 from Batch 3 and batch 9, and batch 11 all have 0-2 HW errors after a typical 1hr runtime. This one batch 11 was tossing anywhere from 8 to 27 HW errors in 5 to 10 minutes... if I could get it to run for 10 minutes before having to power down the logic or the heathen demon self resets. More like 5 minutes was a typical run.

So I dropped it to 675mhz, it hashed just fine no errors... I've been slowly walking up the frequency after each successful hour of mining looking for when it gets grumpy, then back it down one clock setting.

Just some FYI info since RMAing this back to Bitmain would be costly not only in shipping costs, but also in mining profits that would be offline for who knows how long.

So if you get some funky shizzle with these batch 11's, It probably would be more advantageous to just underclock it a bit rather than to take it offline for weeks while  Bitmain pokes and prods it with screwdrivers and hammers..... for it to come back loaded up with dead S5+ boards and when its no longer profitable to mine.....

Just my 1-1/8 cents....

I've zero idea about that alt-coin or if it's even possible to mine it.
You'll need to ask someone in the alt-coin threads.

I'm sorry for using that "alt-coin" for reference.....

lets just say I'm solo mining bitcoin for hypothetical purposes. Is there a way to specify a difficulty in the CGminer within the S2 firmware? If I can specify a difficulty, would you or anyone else have any clue where to find that in the firmware (what folder...like /etc/config/.....)

Thank you

YAY! Intel !!!

Boo hiss, <boot> <hammer> <smash> .... sweeps debris under the rug.... AMD .... although they make GREAT GPUs

thanks....

I'll add some of those nodes when I get done re-installing the OS and wallets.... things were getting too mashed up from trying all sorts of things installing wallets, trying to solo mine PPC, building a couple different pools to try and get solo mining on PPC to work ... so, I just backed up the ./*coin* folders which contained the wallet.dat  and the whole blockchain for the coins ... then I nuked the system.... actually I'm switching platforms also, going from a SFF desktop to a rackmount Dell server.

No, Just the DEM wallet. On the same computer, I have 3 other wallets, all of them are running as full nodes with plenty of incoming and outgoing connections.

I can always try to add nodes to the .conf  ... where can I find a list of active DEM nodes?

Does anyone have a "how to" guide on how to solo mine PPC using ANTMINERS?

I've tried using an old S2, tried S5's, tried S7's... mining solo off the wallet rpc. I can connect and mine for something like 10 seconds, then it stops. On the antminer status page, it lists the diff at 499m ... which is really low for these miners, thus I'm thinking I'm overloading the computer with the wallet.

I also tried setting up pools to solo mine so I could use the pool to regulate the diff... I tried uNOMP, and I also tried MPOS with NOMP, both cannot start mining due to the same error.   PARSE ERROR.

Soo, how are people solo mining PPC??? How are the PPC pools getting things to work.

Thank you
